COL Kurt L. Schaeffer:
"Get out of the vehicles and spread out. Buck, cut the lights untill I tell you to light the exits up with everything you've got."
The Colonel jumped from the SUV and rife at the ready moved to the right, to take cover behind one of the trailers and to see if he could get up some of the stairs to get into a flanking position.

Rowan slings her pack and Ak slinging them up on her shoulder and grabs the new rife
Leaving the MG on board for the moment. And moves up to support her lover

Peter checked his guns quickly and then dismounted from the vehicle. He paused for a moment to make sure Jane got down alright (he wasn't stupid enough to think she would need help and it wasn't really the time for anything romantic). Then he spread out a bit to clear lines of fire.

"Well I reckon that you are either the Combine or Moorlocks. Either way you are in my way. Which means one of two things. You die or you surrender. I prefer surrender, but make no mistakes I will survive and I will get through you."
Jason says as he gets out of the truck and gets behind it for cover. He is loud enough to be heard if they start firing.

Buck said to his crews,

"You heard the man, stop slant-wise so we can have cover, everyone but the gunners dismount! Lights off!"

With that, he grabbed his shotgun and bailed out when the SUV came to a stop.

Re: Whoever Fights Monsters...

The front SUV swerved right and stopped, the rear swerved left.

Their crews dismounted as the lights were shut off, although the gunners stayed on board.

The posse bailed out as well, finding cover behind the vehicles. Rowan found she was severely  burdened by her paramedic bag and two assault rifles. Schaeffer was able to get to the slight overhang of the 6-foot platform on the right. The only ways up were metal ladders set into the concrete side of the platform at intervals, protected by yellow-and-black bumpers on both sides. Luckily, the far right ladder seemed clear and the nearest open loading bay door was some 30 yards away.

Correction: there are iron runged ladders set into concrete lining the platform, not stairs. The text was correct while the legend on the map is not.

Can I please get a Cognition check from Trask? As well, a Search check from Rowan and whoever else has NVGs. Rowan is currently travelling at 3/4 speed due to her being burdened.

Unslinging her G22, Laurin followed Schaeffer, trying to keep quiet as well.

Reaching the side of the platform by the far right ladder, she peered over and steadied her G22 in order to cover him as he went up.

In a few seconds as people were deploying, the vehicle lights were cut. Those without night-vision were blind by the profound darkness!

They could all hear movement in the dark all to the front, left and right. Lots of things were moving up on them.

Re: Whoever Fights Monsters...

Peter spoke up in a strong voice, not yelling but not caring if the 'hostiles' hear him. "We have multiple contacts, a few on the left, but a half-dozen from behind the trailers and out of the loading bay doors on the right."

He spoke up louder as he trained his gun on whoever he saw that might look like the most dangerous. "Attention: those attempting to sneak forward at us, we DO have the ability to see you and if you DO NOT vacate the area peacefully, we will be forced to open fire on you! You have three seconds to comply!"

That came from having watched too many cop and military shows back when there was still television.

Smoker stood up, looking round with his new NVGs.

"No need for hostility unless you want to be aggressive. I'm Smoker and we are not here to fight you. We are on the trail of a bunch of Combine folks who came through here after attacking us and abducting one of our number. Did you see them? Which way did they go?"

Jane just kept quiet while Peter and Smoker smoked.  They covered everything so she didn't need to add more.  She switched over so that she could see in the dark and repositioned herself in case the others decided that they still wanted to fight.

The Colonel lowered his head and covered his own eyes to protect himself from the glare. He was hoping that hitting the lights would blind the moorlocks and shock them into a talking mood. He kept his M4 ready just in case his idea wouldn't work.

Re: Whoever Fights Monsters...

As Peter and Smoker's voices echoed in the graffiti-covered concrete chamber, the area came alive with movement! Those with NVGs could see a mass of at least forty figures boil out of cover on three sides (left and right, but mainly straight ahead). Charging straight for them.

The lights came on and showed these were not Moorlocks, oh no!

They were trogs. Trogs were the most degenerate and bestial of all the mutants, primitive and bloodthirsty. There was no good reason for any of them to be there, as they were the twisted product of the unholy Ghost-Rock radiation contaminated Deadlands. And the closest Deadlands from here were downtown Salt Lake to the south or Ogden to the north. Most of them had been collected by Silas and the Cult o' Doom to be used as shock troops, and those could be found accompanying Doomsayers wherever they roamed the Wasted West.

Thankfully, there didn't seem to be any Doomies accompanying this hoard of Trogs, but there were still ten or so coming out of the dumpsters and garbage compactors to the left, another dozen or so coming from the loading bays on the right, and up to around twenty coming straight on.

Trask pulled the trigger on the SAW firing at the figures coming at him from the left. He would try and concentrate fire on closest target until they dropped, then the next and so on.

Peter's eyes widened in surprise at what he saw....and then went wider by how many there were of what he saw! He heard Buck's shouting and brought his "new" rifled up to pick away at targets. He started with the closest ones, just to his left since they were the most dangerous.

Re: Whoever Fights Monsters...

Jane brought her weapon up and found as good of a defense position as she could.  As she took aim she couldn't help but think of some other battles she had been in where it hardly bothered to aim due to how many opponents there were.  Still she didn't panic nor did blindly fire at the mob for ammo was still expensive to buy.
