In reply to Tech. Sgt. Airen Crichton (msg # 504):

Our Thanksgiving comes before Hallowe'en, second Monday of October. It never occurred to me why ours and your holidays were the same, yet in separate months. I looked it up and basically, in 1879, roughly a hundred years after Americans started officially celebrating their holiday (on and off after 1789) we decided we wanted a similar fall feast/celebration day. Many US border towns hold a kind of joint "Thanksgiving/Columbus/Indigenous Peoples' Day" weekend to help lure Canadian shoppers.

The trappings are similar in English-speaking Canada because they were remembered by American Loyalists fleeing here after the American Revolutionary War (aka "Unofficial First Civil War"). However, here there is much less reliance on the classic and mythical iconography of Pilgrims thankfully sharing the generous bounty of the Natives, perhaps a deeply ironic vignette in hindsight. On the other hand I hear US Thanksgiving can be somewhat stressful being that much closer to Christmas. As well, giving public "thanks" is not really part of our rituals.

Re: OOC Thread IV

Hi everybody.

I've gotten more things thrown at me from work and unfortunately, I've got to cut back on my games here on RPoL.  Things are just too hectic in RL to be in so many games.

PLEASE do NOT think it was any of your guys fault nor the GMs fault etc.  Blame it on work.  You have been terrific to game with and I know I will see and game with some of you in some of the other games.

Thanks for fun ride.

No apologies necessary! That can always be a little tough.

We are still in a Mexican standoff of sorts at the town gate, although you do outnumber and outgun "Deputy Dawg" by a wide margin.

So, with Jane leaving, that leaves only 3 players it looks like? Are you going to look at recruiting?

Re: OOC Thread IV

To be clear...Peter was voting to go through, and asking Trask if he wanted to do it or have Roadkill's rig do it. Don't have to go with that, but just saying, he already voted. =)

Re: OOC Thread IV

In reply to Peter Firecrow (msg # 518):

Just so we're clear which PCs are where, I'm going to post a list (weapons are currently at-hand):

Peter's Technical

Peter (Driving)
Jane NPC (Gunner, Ma Deuce)
Crichton (in truck bed, various Junker and mundane weapons)

Roadkill's Rig

RoadkillNPC (Cab, driving)
Brother Edgar NPC (Cab, shotgun)
Trask (top forward trailer gun position, NA SAW and/or ACR)
Smoker (top rear trailer gun position/M2HB)

I hadn't specified where Crichton was located and so it seems plausible he'd be in the technical to boost the firepower a little!

Thanks,

Tony

Re: OOC Thread IV

Greetings programs!

I happened to stumble across this Hell on Earth game...and realized that I was in it at the beginning.  Tony offered to let me return to playing Brother Edgar, as you guys happened to need more players right now.  So, only about 7 years behind.  Better late than never, right?

Re: OOC Thread IV

In reply to Brother Edgar (msg # 521):

Welcome back! Bask in the Cherenkov blue glow of redemption. Brothers and sisters, can I get an AMEN?

The tactical situation is as follows: the posse has followed Rowan's stolen hoverbike from Junkyard to the fortress town of Vivian, LA. Vivian is run by a very strict Law Dog named Sheriff Thomas Itson who has banned weapons within the perimeter fences. The hoverbike is being ridden by a former associate of Modeen, a biker named Kargo.

The posse arrived at a roadhouse outside Vivian just before dawn and found it deserted but with signs of a struggle. They have now followed the hoverbike to the town itself as dawn breaks but there is now an extremely heavy fog that has crept in from nearby Black Bayou Lake and the surrounding kudzu-infested forest which has swallowed the rest of the town.

There is Peter's technical and behind it is the rig. You are stuck in front of the main gate of town, barred by a deputy manning a roadblock. Visibility is socked in bu heavy fog to 10 feet. You just heard screams from up ahead and Peter gave the order to breach the barricade across the road leading into town. Off to the sides are thick jungle.

Peter's Technical

Peter (Driving)
Jane NPC (Gunner, Ma Deuce)
Crichton (in truck bed, various Junker and mundane weapons)

Roadkill's Rig

RoadkillNPC (Cab, driving)
Brother Edgar NPC (Cab, shotgun seat with Glow Stick)
Trask (top forward trailer gun position, NA SAW and/or ACR)
Smoker (top rear trailer gun position/M2HB)
