Thanks Smoker.  I just realized that not only is it my birthday, as well as young Camden's, but it is also ALL my characters birthdays.  I always use my birthday for theirs so tonight I think I'll have to have a giant virtual birthday party for all my characters.  LOL.

Re: OOC Thread IV

In reply to Jason Sinclair (msg # 212):

For those who don't know. Weirdness magnet is a process by which any possible weird thing in the world could happen. A meteor falls out of the sky and lands at your feet killing the wormling that was about to get you. It is a process that I sometimes use for Veterans of the West in my Deadlines games. Tony has it I believe in the game that I run here.

So my RL magnet is turned on. Here is why.

Thursday I call Florida for an update on my arrears for child support. They tell me it is nearly $10k so my response is "I guess you guys still haven't found that missing tax return."
"NO Sir we haven't. Is this the first time speaking to us about this?"
"Nope every time I call for the last two plus years."
"Write the Governor sir it might help and I know that it has shown results before." This was Thursday. So I write the Governor and Friday morn when I awake an e-mail I'd in my inbox. From the FL IRS "We sent it back to the Federal IRS." So off I go to track this money down. No one and I mean no one knows exactly where it is. So I let it go. I have a meeting tomorrow about it with the feds. Today in the mail I get a letter from DCFS and child Support in FL. We want a meeting and your arrears are $1,100. Meeting is scheduled for Aug 5th. I live in IL.

A road trip from Illinois to Florida seems like a pretty major chore! At least they came down from wanting $10k to eleven hundred. But still. Two steps forward, three steps back.

Re: OOC Thread IV

Have they not heard of Skype? Or even Ma Bell?

After all, if someone is struggling to make payments, major road trips are not really on the cards!

Although I had the same problem job-hunting. The rules said that you had to be prepared to go for jobs up to 90 minutes' travel away (by public transport) but they refused to fund the travel for interviews depite the 'job seeker allowance' not being enough to actually live on never mind take a trip anywhere!

I hear that. I've never heard of "RevCan" (Revenue Canada/Canadian Revenue Agency) pulling anything like that, but child support is not something I've heard much about.

Re: OOC Thread IV

Fortunately I've never had anything to do with them, but the UK Child Support Agency is a mess. To start with, they are lazy and concentrate their efforts on people who are quite happy to pay child support... and then hound them to distraction with unreasonable demands, interfering in agreements that both parents are content with. Then they ignore the folk who refuse to contribute. And worse, money never seems to make it through to the parent who has custody or at best is late or incorrect.

Yeah the US IRS is a bunch of inept flunkies who have no idea what the guy next to them is doing let alone the guy across the country.

I am a little too tired to post tonight.

Will post tomorrow!

Healing poultices won't work on Lauren's heart attack as it's internal damage. The medic has had her eyes destroyed. One has already been applied to her so all the good it can do has already been done.
