In reply to Rowan Dawson (msg # 73):

Much of the medical supplies are destroyed or covered in blood and tissue, a definite biohazard! She found enough to replenish her medical kit.

There were no hover-stretchers, but this wasn't too surprising as those were rare after the war and not really handy in the field. Hover-stretchers were like mini-hovercraft and bigger than normal folding stretchers. They had to be carried up and down stairs and over obstructions or rough ground, and were very heavy.

Trask continued to work. Packing the recovered gear into as few containers as possible and then tying them together so he could carry them over his shoulder, or at least the heaviest ones. Once he had the loading sorted he would wait for the others as he ran a simple diagnostic and watched his sensors.

Re: Baphomet!

In reply to Increase Trask (msg # 75):

The Wolverine was not designed to be a pack horse. It's combat manoeuvrability would be degraded and targeting servos could have some interference. While the Wolverine was reasonably quiet it would sound like a collection of pots and pans as it trundled along.

Over in the medical bay, the Medic responded, "ahhh.... please... help me...." With that, Rowan applied the poultice. It would take an hour to fully work it's healing magic but it had an immediate effect. The Medic seemed to relax as her pain melted away.

Rowan mutters words best left unheard, as she looks at the waste of medical supplies, and the lack of means of moving Knapp safely. Hearing the Medics call she moves to comfort and heal her.
"Easy I am Rowan we can heal you and restore you given time."
She checks Knapp again trying to work out how long it will be till she is safe to move.

Knapp is not going to be really any better than she is now. The medic has lapsed into unconsciousness and will also need transport on a stretcher, of which there are a few folding ones available.

Going through the pockets of the dead for money, Rowan feels a chill. Like something old, and evil, and hungry has become aware of her. It approves, knowing she is moving closer to it. Rowan finds a loose collection of Widgets, the Junkyard currency, totally around $391.44. The bills feel greasy and a little slick.

Noting his lover's activity, Schaeffer shook his head in disappointment. "I feel that is wrong, love. Take what you need in the way of weapons and supplies to survive, yes. Do not be foolish like Trask, of course. This thing is not the way of civilised people. Let's keep what decency we have left for the dead. They far outnumber us in this world now, yes?"

Coming up beside her he put an arm around his shoulders, and held out his hand for what she'd found.

As he finishes surveying the scene, Vundra walks over to the dead body of Simon. He stare at it for a while and whispers a few word then walks over to Rowan. "Will Knapp be ooo...kkay? If needed I might be able to assemble something to help m..mmove her."

Rowan throws the money away with a wrench of her hand and a shiver, what was she doing it was wrong she knew better, she stands there shivering in Schaeffers arms totally limp and exhausted, tears rolling down her face at the shear waste this has all become. Her oath broken uncompleted, death surrounding her. What was left, she wonders

All Schaeffer could do was hold her in his arms and comfort her, waiting for the storm to pass.

Somewhere, perhaps in the Hunting Grounds or elsewhere beyond time and space something howled in frustration, knowing that this opportunity was lost to it to gain another Servitor.

Re: Baphomet!

After scroungin' for some structure part and throw in a few from his pack, Vundra begins assembling the stretcher. He put two large hunk of stuff at each end then lay some cables between them. He look rather busy assembling the stuff as each piece seems to magically fits together somehow. All while he is doing so, he keep glancing at simon's body or what used to be. He is still not sure mkae of what happened....

In reply to Vundra (msg # 85):

Having wrapped Simon's corpse in a semblance of a funeral shroud as best he could Jason goes to help sort gear. He takes a D-21 and a couple clips, if no one objects, for himself. His main focus is getting Simon's body out as intact as he can now. He will help with Knapp and the medic if asked, but refuses to leave Simon's body short of extreme measures.

Looking at the load Trask though better of it "Lets divide up the grenades now and then I think we could all carry a ammo can each and that should have it covered." He looked over what was available in the line of a long gun as he resorted the piles.

Schaeffer frowned. That seemed like a lot of weight to be carrying around.

"Good Christ, no, let us not do that. We have casualties, we could get hit at any time on the way out. We need to be ready to fight."

He gestured to the pile of weapons from the mercenaries. There were about forty-odd 5.56mm D-21 rifles, three 5.56mm M21s, an 7.62mm AK-47 and 7.62mm SKS. There were also a few shotguns, prewar police pistols and SMGs, and several of each NA and SA sidearms.

"Trask we will be in Junkyard for a little bit. We can always come back down to get it. If nothing else we can send a salvage team down to get it for us. People need to know and these two lives matter. Standard Wasteland rules don't apply. Chances are we will get back to this before scavs will. Trap the door if you must but we are leaving the majority of this here." Jason doesn't look pleased at the prospect of loss of life vs gear.

Re: Baphomet!

Trask began to load the ammunition and other ordnance into packs once the boxes were not going to be carried. He takes his share of the grenades and then continues dropping mags and ammunition from the prewar weapons into the new containers.

As he searches through the pile he keeps and eye out for a UMP-45 or a high capacity 9mm poly gun, Glock, Springfield armory or similar as well as mags for it.

As time goes by Vundra finishes his stretcher, it look like two large ducted fan on either end of the stretcher. At one end the cannon is mounted on one of the fan. As he finishes, he plug one of the pack from his unfinished gun into it and flick the switch on.....

Re: Baphomet!

Peter felt no shame in looting dead assholes, and the Combine were some of the worst of the worst. He took as much of the food as he could and ammo, and one vest - after checking with Jane to make sure none of it was booby-trapped. He wasn't much for grenades but recognized their value but thought those might actually be booby-trapped.

"Hmm. Carrying two wounded and one...dead...will be difficult. Do we have anything we can rig up to be a...travois or something to drag them behind the Wolverine perhaps?"

Re: Baphomet!

"For the dead, probably. Does anyone know what Templar funerary customs are? Somehow I think they are the sort who place emphasis on getting the mortal remains back. A travois is likely to be too rough a ride for the wounded, they are more fragile than corpses," said Smoker.

He, too, saw no issue in looting the dead. It's not as if they had use for anything anymore. It would be a different story if he knew who their dependents, heirs and successors were, but he didn't fancy walking up to a Combine base to find out!

Instead he wandered over to Vundra.

"Do you need a hand with that?"

He started looking over the contraption for loose wires or logical flaws in its construction.

"We have a custom for normal Templar dead. Return the body if possible. If not at least the sword so that they may live on in a fashion. This will be different I don't know how yet, but I am sure that it will be." Jason privately worries that he will be held responsible. Heck he was there for the deaths of two of the first Templars and was responsible for one of them after a fashion. He needs to assure himself of the Saints still working through him, but is unsure how to check.

In reply to Smoker Nix (msg # 94):

It took over an hour for Vundra to complete his work. By then, both patients were stable enough to move.

Vundra's 2 "hover-stretchers" were true Junker tech. They were lifted by ducted fans with rotors and motors mainly salvaged from old rusty HVAC units in the chamber's ceiling.

Both were armed. One had the minigun salvaged from the combat drone mounted on a pedestal, the other held Vundra's Voxar energy cannon.

Looking at his creations, Vundra is quite satisfied with what he built.

"Sss...So Someone need to guide one of this along, there nothing piloting them so Yyyy...You need to push em. They should do most of the heavy lifting though." He point out the simple control to the group and get behind the one with the cannon.
