Re: In the Junkyard II

Dropping off the rear of the truck Trask sprints towards the bar while using the radio. "Trask here I am at the front door, about to knock." He raises his rifle to his shoulder as he approaches the structure and leads with it as he enters the bar.

Scanning the scene before him he sees a series of readouts across his HUD as he speaks his voice amplified by the speaker."All right ladies hands in the air like you just don't care, weapons at you feet and single file to the nice militia outside. First and only warning." He uses the door frame as partial cover unless there is something better inside as he waits for the bikers to make their minds up.

"Jeez o' pete." Jason says covered in Schaeffer's blood. As the MPs and Trask enter he yells "Medic!!"

He walks out and tells the MPs "If a single one of these morons so much as blinks funny you let me know. He won't live long past it." Covered in gore and blood Jason's Ranger badge gleams nearly spotless.

Re: In the Junkyard II
In reply to Jason Sinclair (msg # 148):

The MP Sergeant seemed to recognise Trask, or at least figure he was on their side or employed by the Militia, so he let him cover the bikers. She directed the MPs to disarm and search the bikers, taking them into custody.

She looked in the back at Schaeffer as Rowan was working on him, then started speaking into her the radio handset clipped to her vest. "Command, this is One-Adam-Twelve. Request for RA (Roll Ambulance) to, ah, Sleazy's bar, south side of Marketplace. Put a rush on it, we got one casualty that looks real bad! Also, we need a wagon for detainee pickup." There was a returning squawk as command acknowledged.

The Sergeant looked at Jason. "Calm down, sir. We have this under control. Ok, we got a call from a friend of the mayor's, Colonel Schaeffer, regarding a stolen hoverbike and some bikers that needed to be picked up for questioning. I take it that's the guy in back?"

The bikers began loudly protesting their innocence. "Hey! We didn't do nothin'! These clowns came in here and started hassling us. We were defending ourselves, man!"

Smoker scrambled to his feet and stood rather unsteadily.

"Sorry, that's incorrect. Rowan had spotted her bike outside and I came in to make peaceful inquiries. I was grabbed and threatened with violence before I even opened my mouth..."

Re: In the Junkyard II
"Yeah that is the Colonel. Sorry good friend o' mine. I'm a known person to Ike as well. Jason Sinclair. That fella is Smoker Nix, Peter Firecrow, Jane Guin, Rowan Dawson, and Increase Trask. All known to the Mayor." He pauses to get air and cool down before he takes the head off of the MP. "Rowan entered in order to barter for the return of her stolen property. The gentlemen that Smoker had a gun on held him hostage and shot him in the leg. So our little group breached the building. Schaeffer and Peter went in the back. I can't be fully certain but in looks like someone threw a grenade into the backroom and Schaeffer jumped on it. These yahoos need to be charged with attempted murder of JLA members among other things."

Though still quite angry and, though he wouldn't admit it to himself in the heat of the moment, worried about the Colonel, Peter wisely kept his mouth shut as the MPs entered and began asking questions. He lowered his gun so it was no longer pointed at anyone.

The MP Sergeant held up her hand when Jason started going through who everyone was.

"Right, no need for the who's-who. Show me your IDs."

"You guys, shut up," she said to the bikers.

"A grenade, huh? Yeah, sure looks like someone overreacted all right."

Trask moves into the bar as the Militia back up unable to enter. He scans the bikers and watches as they disarmed, his rifle still at his shoulder.

Once Trask lowers his weapon, Jane will lower hers.  She was covering her group and when they weren't in danger, for the moment, she could relax a bit.  She still kept her eyes peeled for things that wouldn't be right but it looked like things were finally settling down.

The MPs had all the bikers up and lined against the wall. One of them looked over his shoulder and said,

"It was the prospect. Kargo! He threw the grenade. Wasn't us, man!"

Re: In the Junkyard II
Peter glanced back at Rowan with a confused expression in his IBS helmet. "Um. Okay? Medicine is not really my area of expertise. Let me know how I can help. I think help is coming as well."

He turned his head back to glare at the biker. Of course. Someone not actually part of the biker gang to give up. He highly doubted that was the case. He stood his ground, however, and let the MPs do their jobs. He did pull out his ID for them to scan when they came to him.

"Do any of you guys carry grenades?" Smoker asked the bikers. His thinking was that if anyone habitually had them, they were a likely suspect to have actually thrown one.

Re: In the Junkyard II
In reply to Smoker Nix (msg # 161):

This was a great question. Consequently, none of the bikers replied, having enough brain cells left to self-incriminate. None of the bikers had any grenades on them, and none were found by the MPs when they were searched.

From the kitchen, one of the MPs said, "there's 2 people in the storeroom back here!" A man and a woman were led out from a storeroom off the kitchen. It was the cook and a helper who'd taken shelter there when the shooting started. The first thing the cook did was go over to the stoves and turn off the gas cylinder. "I heard a bang! Good thing these fuel cells didn't go up, the whole building would have been leveled."

"Here's my damned ID. I gotta help her she is getting emotional." He snaps at the NCO.

As he approaches Rowan he softens the brittleness still Jason, but a little nicer he says "Ok you get up on the table after we get Schaeffer on one too. We can start the transfusion here 20 minutes should do it otherwise I will have Trask start shooting our way to the Hospital. Kidding. Tell me you got some basic tubing and at least two cath needles. I'don't really prefer some 18 gauge, but I'll take what I can get. Real primitive setup and all. He is gonna be alright. You saved him for now at least. Now we wait for the bus. Just got to keep him alive." Jason starts moving two tables fairly close to where they were.

The MP took the ID, glanced over at Rowan working on Schaeffer, then cooly rebutted Jason by saying, "huh. I see your friend is looking pretty cool there. You, however, look like you could use a good cry. Go on, do what you can."

Dismissing Jason, she turned to the Bikers. "OK you fucks. Who threw the grenade? If you don't tell me, you're all going before Judge Tolliver. We take breach of the peace very serious, understand?"

The bikers flinched when Judge Tolliver's name came up, but they remained quiet.

Trask and Jason were unable to determine if they were lying or not about who threw the grenade.

Re: In the Junkyard II
In reply to Increase Trask (msg # 169):

Jason got a suitable table set up. The MPs assisted in moving Schaeffer onto a metal one. One of the MPs grabbed a bottle of vodka and poured it over the table to help sterilise it a little.

With the assistance of one of the MPs who also knew First Aid, Jason rigged up a transfusion for Rowan. Jane was the first to volunteer so they used her first. Her blood checked out as clean enough by Rowan's medic bag's built-in analyser. Peter would be next, if his blood was suitable.

After checking with thermals, Trask confirmed the building was clear.

Sirens sounded in the distance, drawing closer.

Re: In the Junkyard II
Peter put his gun away and helped as best he could (and mostly stayed out of the way after the first few moments when things were set up). He watched as Jane was checked out and was glad her blood was clean enough (not just for the moment, but in general). He was a bit apprehensive about his own blood, but nodded and allowed himself to be checked out when they were ready.

"I hope those sirens mean an ambulance or something is almost here."
