Trask passed on the information from his scans to the militia leader once they were complete. Then he moved off to the side to allow them to do their job and to give the people working on the wounded more room.

Re: In the Junkyard II

An air ambulance arrived first at the bar circling overhead. An MP marked an LZ for it to use. The white helicopter marked with red crosses settled down, blowing up huge clouds of the peculiar greyish-brown dust that surrounded Junkyard outside the walls for several miles in every direction.

2 Paramedics dismounted from the passenger compartment rushed in, carrying a stretcher and medical gear. They were impressed by Rowan's level of care. "Ok, outstanding job, ma'am. I can tell you were a paramedic before the war! We'll take it from here." one of them exclaimed. They started working on Schaeffer, getting him ready for transport by air to Hellstromme Memorial.

As this was happening, within minutes more MP Humvees and pickup trucks arrived with lights and sirens on, plus a large "Paddy wagon" police van. The biker prisoners were rounded up and marched to the back of the van. They were then shackled in at wrist, ankle and waist for transport to "cells" (lockup) for detention until charges were laid, if any.

Re: In the Junkyard II

Peter felt a little bit of weight lift from his shoulders as the paramedics finally arrived to take the Colonel away. He gave a nod to Rowan as she went to follow. He turned and frowned at Smoker. "Smoker...what are you doing? Are you looking for something?" He offered to help and began looking as well.

While they did that, at one point he paused and looked at Smoker once more. "How is the replaced limb holding up? Any problems?" He wasn't just asking to be nice. It appeared that the Colonel might have need of such a service soon as well.

"Uh... one of those bastards made off with my Colt Python, that's all... the hand's been fine, thank you. Virtually forgotten about it."

Smoker rested for a moment.

"I'd be glad of your help if you have a moment. Although you've been busy, don't you need to rest?"

Peter gave a nod to the information about missing pistol and began looking. "Good. About the hand, I mean."

To the question about rest, Peter looked confused. "Who? Me?" He waved a hand. "Rest? Ha. There are several answers I could give you. 'I can rest when I am dead'. 'There is no rest for the wicked'. Etc." He let out a small laugh. "Honestly, I am not sure even a vacation would help. Not there are really vacations in the Wasted West."

He let out a long sigh as he paused in his search for a moment. "I tell you, Smoker, this world is terrible place to live sometimes."

Re: In the Junkyard II

Inside, it was apparent Smoker's Python was gone. Junkyard medics checked all of them out for injury.

An MP asked Jane, Peter, Smoker and Jason, "could we please get statements from you guys?" Marshall's Note: you can refuse, you can just say you do it, or actually go into detail. Your choice!

Trask was instructed to help load the still-groggy bikers into the parked Paddy Wagon outside.

It had been taken from him by "Kargo", the biker affiliated with Modeen's old gang, The Destroyers. In fact, now that Smoker thought about it, Kargo didn't seem to be there anymore. That is, he's not with the other bikers being led away. He's not in the bar, not behind the bar, not in the back.

When she got outside, Rowan discovered that her hover-bike was gone. Not having time or inclination to deal with this, she hopped on Schaeffer's BMW/sidecar instead. She ignored the confused looks of MPs milling about, covered as she was by her lover's blood. Rowan kicked the bike to life and roared off in pursuit of the ambulance en route to hospital.

In reply to The Marshall (msg # 181):

Trask helps with loading the prisoners, mostly just covering them with his big gun. Once that was done he would return to the bar and follow up on his sensor reading by giving the place another scan.

He would provide a statement, but it would be short given he arrived pretty much when the militia did. Always with an eye on the deal Trask would look for any weapons left behind or anything else left by the bikers. He also gives a look at the parking lot for unattended bikes.

In reply to Increase Trask (msg # 182):

The militia MPs didn't bother taking a statement from Trask, after all, they saw him arrive.

Inside the bar, Militia MPs were collecting evidence. Some were gathering dropped weapons into plastic evidence bags while one took 3D pictures. There were several pistols, knives, clubs (wooden, metal, spiked, etc.) and a few sawed-off shotguns in evidence bags by the front door. Outside, there were eight or nine abandoned-looking bikes. An MP was putting CRIME SCENE tape around them as she waited for a tow truck to arrive.

Re: In the Junkyard II

Smoker was willing to give a statement provided he could sit down to do it. His leg hurt!

"Basically, Rowan Dawson spotted her bike which was stolen some time back outside. I went in to find out who was using it so we could negotiate its return. This did not go well, the rest of the group stormed the building, someone from in here let off a grenade and, well, that's about it. One of the ringleaders, fellow called Kargo - spelled with a K - stole my Colt Python, got laid out by some of Rowan's shenanigans, then ran off in the confusion. He's not here, nor is my Colt."

Puzzled, the MP taking the statement asked, "he spelled "Kargo" with a "K"? What, did he spell it out for you?"

Meanwhile, a paramedic treated Smoker's leg wound.

Marshall's Note: Just kidding. Although I will leave it up to Smoker to explain how he knows this there are a few ways I can think of how he would know this.

Re: In the Junkyard II

Peter of course agreed to give his statement. "No problem. Rowan Dawson said she had seen her hover bike outside a bar. The hover bike had been stolen a while back. She and Smoker over there went inside to see what the situation was and whether or not they could get the bike back or purchase it back or whatever."

He gestured towards the back. "Myself and Colonel Schaeffer went around back after the bikers had apparently started to manhandle Smoker and shot him I believe - these things I did not witness personally, understand. People were coming out that back as we came in and one of them yelled a warning to the bikers in the bar who began firing on us and threw a grenade at us."

Peter did not tarry on the biker in the back since he knew the law wouldn't be able to do anything him yelling a warning, even if those actions cost the Colonel a leg ultimately. Peter would deal with it later on his own possibly.

"The Colonel lobbed a flash-bang in to the bar just before the grenade came at us. He covered the grenade with his body before I could blink. I leaped in to the bar to avoid the grenade, but it would have still hit me if not for the Colonel." He sounded unhappy about that situation. "The bikers were disarrayed and mostly down. We covered them with our weapons until you showed up."

The MP taking the statement from Smoker noted his puzzled look. "That makes sense. I was wondering if you had some kind of prior relationship to this individual. Do you? Rowan was the medic, I believe?"

quote:
"Thanks," he said to the paramedic.

"You're welcome," replied the medic, finishing up. "I have some Aspirin. It's all I can offer, I'm afraid."

The other MP nodded to Peter, glanced out the door as he took notes. "If that grenade went off, it would have been right next to the gas cylinders for the stove. PRobably blown out the rear of the bar, taken you and the people in the fridge with it. Brave move. Hope your friend makes it. Yes, can you point out this, ah, Rowan's hoverbike? I don't see it out there."

Peter slowly walked outside and looked at the bikes still present. After a moment, he shook his head. "No. It does not appear to be one of the bikes that still remain here. The thief must have left with it before you arrived." He let out a small sigh at that.

In reply to Peter Firecrow (msg # 190):

The MP nodded and replied. "Ok. We'll put out a BOLO alert for the Reapers Motorcycle Club." He spoke into his radio, putting out a "Be On the Lookout" alert for the bikers.

Trasks's thermal scan showed the stoves were still hot, and the freezer and refrigerator were cold. Behind the bar he noted an anomaly. Possibly a trapdoor at one end under some rubber mats that were pulled aside.

The ambulance, with Rowan in pursuit, was halfway to Hellestromme Memorial at this point, just transiting the main gate to Inner Junkyard.

Trask acknowledged the reading on the HUD with an eye movement as he moved to the readings source. "I've got something, perhaps a trap door or the like." He waited until those that will still present had gathered close before flipping up the door and painting the inside with his rifle.

Peter turned away from the MP he had been talking with upon hearing Trask talking. He gave a frown at the commotion as the words caught up in his brain. "Oh. Trapdoor."

He glanced at Smoker, "I wonder if that is where the biker with your gun has disappeared to?"

He then stepped up behind Trask and Jason and waited for them to go first since they were in front of him.
