Drat.

I suppose we'd better rethink what I do then. Still want to give Big Al his candygram, though... but I have some unfinished business with oarsmen/Brother Edgar. I'd been led to believe I'd been everywhere now I'm told there are still unexplored spaces...

In reply to Smoker Nix (msg # 2):

To clarify, Smoker has been most places. I am excluding the bilges at the very bottom as they are very difficult to access.

In the image below, you all dropped onto the highest deck (on the left), the Hurricane deck, which is open-topped. When the Bloats attacked up the stairs, Smoker dove through the hatch and landed in Big Al's room on the Boiler deck, although it was empty. Then he went through the cabin (a former bar and nightclub converted to a barracks) and down the stairs to the lowest deck, the Main Deck. He made it through the Lower Cabin to the Boiler room and found the keys to the slaves' manacles, but also found Big Al in there. Big Al chased him back out into the Lower Cabin.

Smoker did not search the heads on either the Boiler Deck or the Main deck. He did not search the Boiler Room on the Main Deck.

I like the "Candygram" ploy as well. But you can edit your posts to make more sense.

In reply to The Marshall (msg # 3):

Great ploy and to be fair we all forgot it wasn't a timer. And best way to play a character is using the hindrances all the time. This one is just damned inconvenient since bomb! Is a thing.

Completely redid my last post to reflect the retcon.

Yeah I don't know a good way to edit them all so I'm just going to edit a bit out and posted a new post to move forward.

So I have this straight, Smoker is in the water. Trask is on overwatch above them but cannot see anything. He does note the first escaped prisoner, the one Smoker freed and then jumped in the water, is getting pulled below the surface by something. Whatever it is out in the river, it hasn't gotten Smoker yet. Yet.

Crichton and Peter are on the Boiler deck. Smoker ran past them, then dove into the water.

I assume Trask has the radio detonator and won't use it until the posse is clear or in extremis.

The furious slab of meat they assume is "Big Al" is charging up the stairs towards Crichton and Peter. They have 2 Actions each and go before he does.

Here is a picture of what the River Queen kinda looks like, although the Queen is a bit smaller. Very shallow draft! Only the bottom two decks remain intact. There is no top deck, and the wheelhouse is removed. That is where the cannon and a few barrels of powder are kept.

I guess Smoker's first order of business is to get out of the water. Shore, a boat, whatever.

Turn order is players first, then Big Al. 2 Actions each.

Question, sorry - you said Big Al is charging up the stairs - can Peter and Crichton see him currently? Or just hear him coming?

Sorry for being imprecise.

If Crichton and Peter are on the Boiler deck he can't see you and doesn't know your there. If you're on the main deck where he is, then he's close enough to attack!

I corrected my post to make more sense.

Well, shit. The way you worded the above post sounded like he was coming up the stairs at us, but he's apparently NOT and is doing what we wanted to stop, killing the slaves. Which I now realize your in-game post didn't reflect that and had him still down there doing that, which I missed. Sigh. Cool. Now we're just assholes sitting there waiting and listening to that for some reason.

In reply to Peter Firecrow (msg # 12):

I think this is a legitimate complaint. It was my mistake to have him come up the stairs, because how would he know you are there? And so you thought he was coming to you, away from other victims.

The sounds of slaughter is more special effects for dramatic purposes. If you react quickly then at most he'll cause a few broken bones, but no fatalities.
