Re: OOC (Out of Character)

Sometimes it's best to push your character out of their comfort zone in order to stay in the game.  I find I have to do this a lot any of my sane characters who'd rather avoid danger, heh.

My backstory probably wouldn't go over well with the press.  I'm technically a fugitive from a 'nonexistant' organization... ^_^

Re: OOC (Out of Character)

If I had a baseball size/weight piece of metal, could I double the speed thrown by combining my powers?

Ex: Average 15 year old baseball throwing speed is 70-75 mph.  I have a metal 'baseball'.  Could I throw it 140-150 mph using both powers and physical strength?

http://www.chacha.com/question...ar-old-pitcher-throw

Got the speeds from that site.

David Darkthorne:
"If they didn't want a petition to make women eligible for the draft snuck in then they shouldn't have held a Women's Military Equality Rally."

Liberty: "I agree. It's the 'snuck in' part I have a serious problem with. But then, I'd have a problem with that for guys too."

Joe Darkthorne:
Joe also has very little problem with Liberty so far.

Liberty: "Too bad I can't read narrative. But then, neither can Joe." XD

Diren:

That depends on the velocity your powers normally grant without the aid of a throw. I'd say no, based off the "can't kill people with bullets" bit. But that's just me. Dunno what Mitts/Joe will say on that.

quote:
Double his lifting strength of things he can physically lift (have a grip on that manhole cover? Works. Trying to double up strength by placing your hand on top of it? Not so much)

I can apparently do that, im just seeing if it applies to throwing things made of metal.

Re: OOC (Out of Character)

That's tricky, but for sanities sake no.  Semi sciencey(semi science can [prove opposite end of argument to, but eh) reason being since your 'holding' the objects with your power, it drags it back to 'normal' force.

Even more reason it wouldn't work if you tweaked the aim or did anything outside of 'make a normal Human throw with adult human force' considering you would be forcing it in a different, or completely opposite direction of where your body threw it.

Re: OOC (Out of Character)

Had long chat /w Joe to figure out where the disconnect was...

joe was translating Diren's request to: "i touch a metal. now magically when i let go, i can do more with it than before even though i'm not touching it."

he doesn't even want the HINT of power creep to turn up.

so to put it nerdily: you can impart inertia at a distance with your brain to metal in the same manner and rate that you could normally with direct contact with a tool.

And on this board, that means from now on and forevers.  No additional powers or abilities, k?  Mittens will never get more powerful with her power.  Nor Liberty hers.  Or Emerald hers.  And so on.

You of course can gain skill in ordinary stuff like any ordinary human such as "now I know first aid!  yaaay!"  (Which btw will be insisted upon.)

Re: OOC (Out of Character)

Yeah, a good section of that conversation was also them having missed the fact I was talking about 'throwing' and thought I was naysaying the 'lifting/swinging' aspects ;D  And yes, Power creep has always had a tendency to ramp up spectacularly the second it shows up. (Ah, I remember when a cut to the jugular would kill Wolverine, and when he couldn't resurrect from a scrap of brain leftover when hit by a nuclear bomb).

And yay for just moving on.  Let me know when those laws of physics lets us actually do things like heal with a touch or move metal with our mind Diren.  I want laser eyes in RL.
