Re: Chapter 4-B: Moving In

Michael started to pack in earnest again, his sorrow being replaced by the fond memories he had. As he packed he spoke saying,"Thanks Liberty. Yeah, martial arts where the first big things we enjoyed together, but there was plenty of others. Music was always a wonderful thing for us. Guitar and piano I can play and can hold a tune well enough for a song to be sung. Lucy's voice though was one that could silence a room. We had a few gigs together, though we had much more fun with some karaoke, after a few drinks mind you.

She was big on photography, so most of the pictures you see around are by her. I was always more of a fan of charcoal, but we shared the love of beauty that we captured in different ways."

The packing was coming along nicely and the donation people should be there soon with their truck.

Re: Chapter 4-B: Moving In

Emerald smiles. "Sounds fantastic. Maybe you can show us the photos and art some time."

The donation people actually arrive slightly early. Liberty is careful to not be lifting anything too obviously heavy around the crew, but Emerald doesn't seem to mind the people seeing her foxy self helping with a move. It clearly grabs the attention of the new arrivals. "It's those folks from the news... what are the chances?" One says quietly to the other.

Timothius very decidedly is hiding behind Mittens.

Angel glances at Liberty, then Timothius. Then looks at the donation guys. She goes to intercept them and begins discussing what they can take, trying to peal their attention off the others. Which is proving difficult.

Re: Chapter 4-B: Moving In

"Unless it was an anonymous request to offload some old furniture, I'd say pretty damn good odds if the name of one of the people from news was the name given." Hello, this is Dracula. I'd like to order a pizza.  Oh, they are surprised it's Dracula answering the door.  Maybe they were too used to people giving funny names with their orders?

OOC Style: Things that happen.  Pals ordering pizza and placing table reservations as Skeletor.  Also, "any requests?" question from Pizza place being answered with "Draw a Viking Zebra on the box"... And that request being met.

Re: Chapter 4-B: Moving In

"Athlete, photographer, musician, martial artist, hero," Mittens lists, "Sounds like my kinda woman!  Dunno if I've mentioned yet but my lil bro's a budding artist and musician too.  Maybe you could give him a pointer or two sometime."

She smiles over her shoulder and brings her tail up to tickle Timothius under the chin.  One of the donation people gives a shocked look and asks answers his fellow worker, "I heard on the radio you got clobbered by an army of mole people.  Shouldn't they be in the hospital?  Or the morgue?"

"Mole people?" Mittens asks, "They looked more like orcs."

The guy shrugs.  "I heard something like, 'Army of subterranean mutants emerge and defeats famous Citizen Patrol.'  So I figured mole people."

"Well we defeated them back!"

The guy sweatdrops.  "But that doesn't explain... Oh right.  You have a healer.  Did she heal up the injured police?"

"He did, yes."

"Oh sorry.  Well thanks."

"You're welcome!"

Re: Chapter 4-B: Moving In

Michael nodded and said to Em,"Sure. Once we get everything set up back at 'base.'" this last part is said with a bit of a chuckle, one of the few times something more than a smile has come from him, should anyone be paying attention.

When the moving people get there, he is confused at their attitude. Should have called the Habitat for Humanity people. He's never heard a bad word from them, plus they are accepting of everyone. So far as he's seen anyway.

He walks over to the movers to direct a bit, idly thinking that while he may be more human looking, he is no model. The scars he has are usually enough to get people to focus either on him or on their task. Either way would be better than picking on the other, even if they aren't doing it intentionally. "How about we get this couch, bed, and dresser. Careful on the stairs, there isn't a lot of run to move around there."

Re: Chapter 4-B: Moving In

At being called a girl, Timothius ducks his head and ears. "S'what I get for being the damsel in distress..." he idly comments.

Liberty glances over to Timothius and says, "So were Harry and I. But I don't see anyone mistaking Harry for a girl."

Timothius snorts, caught off guard by the sudden image in his head of Harry wearing a dress. "Heh... yeah." he adjusts his wings. "I'm itchin' to fly. When you guys are ready to head to base, if it's all the same to you, I'll fly there."

Emerald says, "I didn't know you could fly that much distance or that fast."

Timothius nods, "Sort of. I can roof-hop, which lets me take brief breaks from flying, and then I can get some decent speed from gliding. So, of course, I'd prefer starting at the top of a building somewhere..."

Angel says, "I'm jealous. I'm going to have to get a hang-glider and join you in the skies some time."

Emerald giggles, "We all should. Say... that gives me an idea. Maybe we could all find ways to emulate each others' powers to lighten the load of a given ally should the need arise."

Angel says, "Near impossible to emulate Mittens' power... or Michael's, but yeah. Sounds good. If possible, anyway."

Liberty says, "That would be SO cool if you all could be as invulnerable as me or at least close."

(OOC: We ready to get the group heading in the direction of the base?)

"Thanks for the warning," one of the charity guys says, "and the donation.  No one's gunna believe me when I tell 'em I met a buncha celebrities today."

"Let's get a group photo, then!" Mittens chimes in, "I'll have it posted on our website so you'll have proof."

"Uh... thanks!"

Mits glomps her lil bro and giggles with him.  "Can't expect everyone to have our names, powers, and genders all sorted out, but I'm sure the families of the countless folks who's lives you've saved from injury or impact with blazing fire dragon will never forget what a man you are."

She grins at Angel's and Emerald's suggestions.  "Oh I'm ALL over those ideas!"

Re: Chapter 4-B: Moving In

Michael listens to the back and forth as he finishes up the major stuff. He realizes he'll have to come back for the bike, but it will be easy enough to do. He grumbles a bit at the photo op, but it is only half hearted and he gives a warm handshake to the movers as they leave.

"Agreed Angel, my powers would be difficult to duplicate. I think anyway. I've never had someone truly interested in trying to find out. As for becoming invulnerable, have we had any word on those military grade suits of "armor" that were previously talked about?"

OOC: yeah, good to go.

"If you ever become parents, I assure you the capacity for embarrassing your children will not only come naturally, but it will be your DUTY to see through.  Except when you can't be bothered.  Either or."  David opts out of the photo.  He's not the 19 year old superhero Darkthorne after all.

Re: Chapter 4-B: Moving In

Liberty finally seems to have some courage again as David speaks. "The only way my parents ever embarrass me is when they praise me in front of other people. But somehow, I doubt that's what you meant."

Emerald says, "I would just be happy becoming a parent in the first place. But I'm not getting any younger..."

Angel looks over to Michael. "Nope. Still no word. Sorry."

The group starts heading to the base. Timothius flies overhead like he said he would. Since he can cut across building tops, he's actually keeping up with the cars and Mittens can see him almost the whole time. The only times he isn't visible is when he's cutting across a given roof to jump the next ledge.

When the group arrives at the base, there is a note left on the door. It reads:

To the Citizen Patrol,
I would like to join, but I don't want to give out my identity. I am leaving a phone number by which you can contact me in case of emergency and have your phone number. If I can not be an official member due to keeping my identity secret, then I will simply be an ally.
Your Friend, Secret

At the bottom of the note, of course, is the number promised.

Re: Chapter 4-B: Moving In

"You should read some of your fan mail some time, Emerald," Mittens asides with a wink to the lil fox, "But if you're serious I'll be more than happy to take you to meet some orphans who'd love to call you mommy."

She nods to Angel.  "Still working on getting us those reflective vests too."

Mits thanks Mr. Darkthorne for opting out of the photo, because that means he can be the one to the take the picture for the everyone.  Once back at base she reads the note aloud.

"Say Angel.  Refresh my memory.  The security camera watching the front door is the recording variety, right?  I'd like a peek at our mystery visitor.  Not that I'm expecting to see anything beyond a cloaked figure, but worth a shot."

She starts adding the number to her cell.

Michael drives up with his van. "We can move thing in later. I'm going to go get my bike," he says, while the others are talking.
He does a few longish jumps, mostly going by rooftop and some time later rides back with his motorcycle.

Angel nods to Mittens "Yeah, it records."

She raises an eyebrow that Michael wanted that badly to just joyride in the middle of moving. It didn't stop Liberty from immediately carrying stuff from the van into the base.

Angel goes to check the recordings. She sees Harry on the tape, putting the note on the door and then walking away. Angel says, "....so much for short person? But Harry has no reason to be secretive with us that I know of..."

Liberty says, "Sure he does. He's afraid, and rightfully so. I'm still scared too, but I guess he's going the extra step by not attending our base regularly?"

Emerald says, "Whatever the case, he left a number. We could just try calling whoever it is."

Angel hrms. "Well... but it does say emergencies only."

Re: Chapter 4-B: Moving In

"Or Harry was simply the middle man for the real mystery person," Mittens points out, "Unfortunately I was too overwhelmed with so much other stuff going on, (Woot!  Ice cream's here!  Thanks again, Joe!) that I never did get (Lemme help you with that, Lib.  I think his room's this way.) Harry's number.  I could try and test the number, (Welcome back, Reaver!) but I'll bet our lawyer will say we're not allowed to accept anonymous members...  I dunno.  Maybe we can.  When you think of it, any one of us could be using an alias.  It's not like I check that everyone's using their real name on the sign up form."

She gets to texting the number:  "Not an emergency, just only way to contact currently.  Does this number have texting?"

Then she gets to serving ice cream!  :D

Re: Chapter 4-B: Moving In

Michael drives back with his bike, surprised that Liberty had already started to unload the van. He felt stupid for not telling her to leave it, but shrugged and picked up the next box. He said a Thank You as he passed.

"If Harry is still here, we could ask him about it. Have you seen him recently Joe?" he asked, since Joe would have been here for most of the time.

Joe shrugs.  "Sorry Michael, I was out buying snacks on request.  Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to Harry.  Though I'm gonna make a probably safe assumption that Harry is nowhere near here after dropping off his note."  Well, unless the guy was hiding in the bushes to see if anybody bothered to read it.

Re: Chapter 4-B: Moving In

Harry is nowhere to be found.

Liberty takes a short break to start eating ice cream. "Thanks for picking up ice cream, Joe. Would you believe we ran into your dad at Michael's place?"

Angel says, "Interesting guy."

Liberty says, "...that's one way to put it. He said embarrassing your kids is your duty as a parent."

Licking her own ice cream, Emerald says, "Quite alright. For every embarrassment a parent causes their child, a child has caused at least 3 to the same parent."

Emerald then turns her attention to Reaver. "I'm glad you're here now, Michael."

"Peculiar or not, it was good to see that for the move he shared Joe's trait of being generous with his time and effort," Mittens points out, "As Lib said, thanks for doing the ice cream run for me.  If I failed to thank your dad for his help in all the chaos, please let him know I said thanks."

She smiles at Angel.  "This party needs some music.  We have a sound system here?  If not I can improvise."

Once Mits has her MP3 player set up, she starts her party mix which starts with a song from the Rio soundtrack.

"Me attempt to contact Harry."

As she noms her ice cream, she fingers her left temple and thinks hard on contacting Harry's mind like she did during the invasion.  "You there, Harry?"

"Ya gotta admit in Joe's case it seems rather one-way," Mits concurs, "On that at least the two of them seem to agree on.  Ohey I got an answer from Harry!"

She grins at her bro's cute lil dance and dances along while voicing her thoughts to Harry.  "Ohai, Harry!  Good to hear from ya.  Can I haz your number so I can leave a voice mail those times you're not available?  As for your anonymous friend, I would like to say, "Thanks for showing interest in joining!  You can download an application off our website.  Nothing's stopping ya from putting an alias on it and joining that way, but I should caution you that because the Citizen Patrol is so closely watched by the entire world, being a completely invisible member seems very unlikely.  That said, there's tons of ways folks can contribute unofficially outlined on our website.  Hope that helps!"

Liberty says, "That reminds me... WERE we serious about having a "supergroup" costume or at least uniforms?"

She nods at Joe with an optimistic smile.  "That'd be my guess too, but that help is on the list is a good sign."

She beams at Angel and says, "So glad you chose to join us openly!  Already your awesomeness has been a great help!"

To Lib she grins proudly, "They'll be showing up in the next few days.  Red White and Blue reflective vests with our logo on 'em.  Turns out those patriotic colors symbolize exactly what the Citizen Patrol is all about: Courage, Virtue, and Truth."
