Chat with Sarah Backers

On the day appointed for Mittens to meet up with Sarah, she gives her a call to see if there's anything preventing her from showing up at the rendezvous place she picked.

((OOC: Leaving it up to Sarah's player to pick a place and time of day she'd want to meet with Mits. ))

Re: Chat with Sarah Backers

Sarah had been spending her day with tiresome job interviews. When she had gotten home it was about forty minutes before her appointment with Mittens. She looked around and saw the mess in her apartment. There were clothes scattered around the place and the trashcan was overflowing with empty beer cans. “erg…haven’t had much time to clean this place up.” She said to herself as she started throwing the clothes on one pile. She emptied the trashcan and the ashtrays while pondering what Mittens was going to ask her about. Than she sat down into the couch and looked around a second time. “well, seems good enough for now” It wasn’t exactly spic and span but there was room to sit now. And she didn’t have to worry about anyone breaking their neck while slipping over one of her bras.

She was just about to order dinner when Mittens called. “Yeah, Sarah here... Ow, hey Mits... Yeah, I’m home. Still remember the directions I gave ya?... Than I’ll see you soon... wait, almost forgot. I was about to order sushi, if you want some I can order extra.” She thought that since Mittens was cat-like it would be cruel to eat raw fish and not offer her some.

OOC: hope you don’t mind me skipping the beginning of the conversation to speed things up. if so dont hesitate to say so. ^^

A little description of the apartment:
The apartment is on the 3rd floor of a condominium and has 3 rooms. The living room and kitchen are connected and form one room. The other 2 are a bedroom and a bathroom.

The living room has 2 couches and a small, slightly damaged TV on a table. The table is usually covered with comics, newspapers and clothes, but there is always some room for an ashtray. There is a display case in a corner with in it a hunting rifle and a photograph of Sarah with her father. Taken the first time her father took Sarah hunting. Next to the display case are a bass and an electric guitar. The kitchen seems to be used regularly. That’s about it. Not a great description but it will have to do for now. :P

Sarah Backers' Apartment

"Thanks but already ate," Mits chimes over the phone, "Be right over!"

Mittens arrives with a backpack slung over her shoulder, wearing tennis shoes, work jeans, and her favorite heavy metal t-shirt featuring a big red fist on the front.  In her left hand is a small brown paper bag with a drink in it.  With her right, she knocks on the door.

"Brought you a beer," Mittens says with a mischievous grin, offering the bag to Sarah when she answers the door.

Birch beer to be more specific.  ;p

((OOC: Was tempted to plug one of my favorite bands, but I'll try and limit my overt plugging to things friends of mine are up to, heh. ))

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Sarah had taken the time to slip into something more comfortable. She opened the door and accepted the paper bag. "ooh, a present, you shouldn’t have… but how did you get your hands on a beer?" Sarah asked as she showed Mittens in. Her eye patch was black with a red target on it. The pink bunny slippers were a real mismatch with the red Overzeas jeans and black tank top and she was wearing.

Sarah didn’t really understand Mitten’s grin since she hadn’t checked the contents of the bag, but didn’t think much of it since the cause could be anything. "ah never mind, you probably have your ways." "she continued. "I used to get homeless people to buy me beer when I was younger." she said with a grin. "Take a seat and don’t mind the mess too much. I’ve been busy." She points to an unoccupied space on one of the benches.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

"You're welcome.  It's amazing what you can technically get away with using semantics," Mittens answers Sarah's question on the procurement of beer before setting her backpack down and sitting where offered, "Thank you, and I don't mind.  So how's life been treating ya lately?  Having a good day so far?  Hot dang!  Awesome rifle!"

She springs right back onto her feet and gets closer to admire the rifle, tail wagging excitedly.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

"day’s have been hectic. Haven’t found a job yet, but I’m hoping today’s interviews will lead to something." She said while going towards the kitchen. Sarah pulled the beer from the bag and checked it out, she had never seen this brand. It didn’t seem to have any alcohol in it. She wanted to ask if it was some kind of root beer but Mittens was already exclaiming her awesome’s. Sarah chuckled and thought ‘Dang, she doesn’t sit still for a minute’ as she saw the tail wagging captain admiring her father’s rifle.

"That used to be my dad’s hunting rifle. It’s a bit old, but it really gave a kick to fire that thing." She explains as she opens the refrigerator to see what she could offer Mittens to drink. "I got milk and Orange juice…or you’d prefer a beer?" She asks Mittens on a teasing tone wile checking from behind the refrigerators door to see Mittens response.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

"OJ please," Mittens answers cheerfully before taking on a mock serious demeanor when "offered" beer.

"Ms. Baker!" she pretends to reprimand in a forced deep voice while shaking her finger, "You should know better than to offer alcohol to a minor!  Blablabla parole violation, yaddayaddayadda Title 7 subsection 13 paragraph B 'punishable by 40 lashes with a wet noodle!'"

Mits moves on to the bass guitar to admire it.  Not touching!  Just looking!

"Job interviews, huh?" she echos, back to her usual tone, "Best of luck with that.  Lemme know how that goes.  Be happy to be a reference if needed.  What jobs you being interviewed for?"

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Wile pouring a pint of orange juice Sarah replies on the sweetest tone she could, trying to play innocent. “But officer, I swear she said she’s 19. Just check her ID. I know that you would do the same.”

Sarah put the pint on the table as she sat down. “Thanks for the offer. The interviews are just a formality though, since most of the bar owners know me by now. I’ve been trying to get my old job back as a barkeep or maybe as bouncer. I figure its best to do something with the things ya love right?” Sarah answers with a smirk. She opens a beer can as she makes herself comfortable.

“you play anything?“ Sarah asks, seeing Mittens cautiously checking out the bass. “ya can hold it if you want, it wont bite.”

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Mittens giggles, happy her playful tease wasn't taken in a bad way.  She nod-nods in reply to the bit about getting a job doing what you like.  Figures Sarah was a barkeep / bouncer.  She sure looks the part.  Mittens gladly accepts the OJ with a lip-synced "Thank you" and begins chugging it.  She nods in a "kind of" way when asked if she plays an instrument.

"Squee!" Mittens squeals in glee, nearly choking on the OJ. She eagerly scarfs up the up the bass and starts playing Darth Vader's theme.  One of the easiest tunes out there, so Mittens nails it.  Well...  A trained ear like Sarah's could probably tell Mits is a novice.

"I dabble.  Thanks!"

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Sarah enjoys the little show, remembering she had about the same skill as Mittens when she was her age. “Not bad at all. You dabble well short stuff.”  She says with a grin as Mittens finishes her performance. Wile taking a sip of her beer she wonders why Mittens came to see her. ‘Could it be just a friendly visit or is there some hidden agenda. Being put into a mutant group of…whatever it is. Fighting crime I suppose, with a hyper teenager as leader. It was just too good to be true...there had to be a catch.’

“If you ever feel like jammin’ don’t hesitate to come by more often.” Sarah tried not to seem too suspicious. She put her beer on the table, shoving a newspaper away to make some more room. “I’d love to show ya some tricks and riffs if you want, but something tells me you aint here for a musical education. So tell me. What’s on your mind?” She moves out of her lazy pose and sits up strait for a change. ‘The kid doesn’t seem to have any ill will, but what was she after’ she wondered wile eyeballing Mittens.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Mittens isn't used to being called "short stuff."  She's more used to names like Fuzzball, Kitten, Meowmix, Lunatic, or, more recently, Cats Musical Reject.  She likes this new one.

"Sweet!" she answers Sarah's offer, "Thanks!  Sounds like fun!  As for the purpose of my visit, I was thinking more along the lines of offering a different talent than my nominal musical one.  Namely, was thinking of being the agent of the new Citizen Patrol Band.  What would you say to being the bassist in a brand new band?  I was thinking Michael on lead guitar, Emerald singing, maybe myself on drums if I can't find someone better...  As fast as the group is growing, I don't think we'll be lacking any talent.  Would your weekends be open for giving something like that a go?  I think you'd be awesome from what I've heard of your stuff!"

Mittens?  With ulterior motives?  Depends on if that includes having fun.  Or making a name for her musical friends.  ;)

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

“A band?” She utters in disbelief. Sarah had expected questions like: ‘what are your thoughts on the Citizen Patrol and about its members’ or something more along the lines of patrol business. She did like the offer though. It was a pleasant to be asked for something else than bashing heads or serving drinks.

“Sounds like fun and all, but I wonder if it will work. There does seem to be a lot of talent in the team but that doesn’t mean we’ll all be on the same wavelength. To be honest I’d be amazed if we even get beyond deciding what style we’ll be playing.” Sarah picks her beer off the table and leans back into the couch again.

“Anyhow…” She takes a quick sip before she continues “I’d be glad to help out. It will be a good distraction from everyday life either way.  I can’t help ya with a drummer though. The one from my last band moved to Canada. But you seem to have the energy to become a decent drummer, and I might know someone willing to help ya with the dynamics.” Sarah gave the furry little captain a sweet smile while raising her beer into the air. “A toast, to…whatever your band will be called.” she exclaims with joy. Than she takes a big gulp from the can. “How do you know my stuff anyway?” she asks while pointing at Mittens with her beer in hand. “You seem a bit young to have been to any of our concerts.”
