Re: The Missing Elf (Part 2)
"This passage only goes in one direction," Shrike says. "That simplifies our choices. Plus this tunnel should lead back under the shack where the others went."

She starts to creep along the passage.

Ahead, Shrike spots someone slumped against the wall and clutching his side. A large sword sits on the ground next to him. He doesn't notice the two elves.

Re: The Missing Elf (Part 2)
Knowing that their position will be given away as soon as Ash's light comes into view, Shrike moves forward quickly; trying to place herself in a position where she can pull the figure's sword away if they prove to be hostile.

Re: The Missing Elf (Part 2)
Ash kept moving forward at a slow pace, he knew his role in their dynamic duo, he was the distraction while Shrike was the knife in the shadows the backup in case thing go sour - as they usually do. So he counted to ten and kept on at a slow pace letting the nimble rogue enough time and shadows to hide at.

The man looks up at the light. "Help," the voice calls faintly. "I've been attacked."

Shrike approaches carefully, not quite getting within striking distance in case this is a trap.

"Who are you?" Shrike asks. "And who attacked you?"

"A trapper," he replies. "And I don't know. It was large, gray, and had claws."

Re: The Missing Elf (Part 2)
The man has several marks all over him. He has been ripped up pretty good, by something anyway. He continues weakly, "It was chained and there were men cheering it on. Lots of wagering, but I was so scared I didn't get a look at the bettors. I got away as best I could and after a while, it stopped chasing me." He sucks in his breath hard as pain rattles through him.

"Which direction was that?" Shrike asks, then looks at Ash.

"Can you do anything for him?" she asks. Healing was well outside of her skill set.

Re: The Missing Elf (Part 2)
Magical healing is outside of Ash's skill set as well, but he does know how apply bandages. He doesn't trust humans though. Especially humans he's never seen before. Before kneeling near the man to bandage him he states, "He could be lying, you know?"

"In that case, he's injured himself pretty badly in order to sell the lie," Shrike remarks.

"Fine, but when he stabs us in the back, it's on you," Ash replies tersely. He applies the bandages with the best bedside manner he can muster, which admittedly is not much. Still, he gets the man bandaged up enough that he can make it out of the cave system.

"Thanks," he mutters after Ash has finished. "It was that way," he points in answer to Shrike's question. It is further back and around a corner.

"Thanks for you help," the man says after Ahs finishes bandaging him. He isn't perfect but can move. "I think I'll get out of here. I would suggest you do that too."

"Turn back?" Shrike murmurs, remembering the trouble they had had getting down here in the first place. Still, the guard on the outside of the caves made a little more sense now.

"What do you think, Ash?" she asks. "Do we cut our losses and run, or push on and see what we can find?"

Re: The Missing Elf (Part 2)
The pair moves along the tunnel for a few more minutes before coming upon a large open area. They can hear the shuffling of a large group on the other side. Caution would be wise normally, but Shrike comes face to face with the dwarf that recently joined their group.
