Re: The Main Room
After the battle Stickman returned to Nexus like he had arrived... just.. somehow. The next thing he noticed was that he was suddenly showered with money! It wasn't exactly enough to be considered rich, but it was certainly a start... a good start. Collecting his reward, he took a short look around to see if Gilgamesh was around. He still had to thank him for assisting him in the previous battle after all!

Unfortunately the sword collector was nowhere to be seen. Thinking for a brief moment he remembered what the money was used for. Becoming more powerful! And thus our warrior in training made his way to the first door. The Item/Ability Acquisition room!

Re: The Main Room
Jin returned to the Main Room looking a bit frustrated. Still in control, the Princess was less than satisfied with their previous opponent. She thought that by the size of his portrait, Toramune would have been a suitable test of skill. Perhaps the pair would have to face an even greater challenger this time. Scanning the room, the Demon found that no one but they were present at the time being.

"Well then. On to the next one.", she said, making her way toward the Hall of Portraits.

Re: The Main Room
All was quiet in the white room. It seemed everyone was doing their best to improve upon their latent abilities and grow even stronger. However, it also meant the small cleaning robot was lonely, as everyone was occupied with their own agenda. The little cleaning bot slowly rolled out into the open area of the room, a soft tinny of a squeak coming from the worn treads on its tank-like lower body. It slowly turned its head around, scanning the room with its dim blue eyes. Even though it was lonely, it was still good to see everyone enjoying the place more, or perhaps even feeling that they now have a stronger purpose of staying at this place for a while longer. Whatever the case, the cleaning bot could not complain, as it seemed that everything in the universe was right and nothing bad would ever happen to this place ever again.

Until the fourth door creaked open again.

Surprised, the cleaning bot wheeled itself around on its treads, small bits of metal scrapings and a loosely-fitting broom handle of an arm fell off. No, there was no way! They couldn't be doing this again! Not so soon, not after this! Hadn't they fixed this place already!?

Still, there was little the robot could do but watch the door slowly creak open, and hope that anyone who showed up to confront whatever was there would be ready... and would come back in one piece...

Samanosuke emerged from the ability room somewhat refreshed. He felt he was ready to keep going further in this place, despite how desolate and far away from home he was. He was surrounded by new allies in this place, and it felt more like a home away from home at this point than a prison or cage.

Samanosuke caught a movement from the corner of his eye and turned his head towards the disturbance. The door was opening. The door that had brought upon them horrors that they had fought in the past, all as a team, but nothing trivial. "Oh no," Samanosuke said to himself. He knew what was about to happen, and he didn't want it to happen to only he. Samanosuke looked towards the rest of the room, hoping to see anyone else who caught glimpse of this and was ready for what was about to come out of that door.

Re: The Main Room
Suddenly, without any kind of warning, some sort of space rift opened up, before a certain black fighter fell out of it and flat on his face. The little portal disappeared immediately afterwards, before anything from the world Stickman had come from could follow.

Slowly the newbie rose from the ground, rubbing his ringing head. Getting squashed by giant blocks was definitely something he'd like to avoid in the future... Where did that stuff even come from? That was certainly something worth finding out.

Now back in reality Stickman took a look around. He noticed the samurai he had never seen before, but that wasn't really what caught his attention. It was that 4th door Gilgamesh had told him about. When and why did that thing open? If he remembered correctly the sword collector had said that behind that door was... ... ... actually he had never told him what he had seen. All he knew that it wasn't something pleasant.

It seemed like his day just kept getting worse and worse...

The energy upgrade was still insufficient to make a significant improvement, but EDGE-01 figured incremental improvements like this will pay off in the future. He has to figure out several other things he needed to add on later on to give him a literal edge in the succeeding battles as well. Coming out of the room that is provided for improvements, the android noticed the warrior called Samanosuke in the hallway together with... an unusual, two-dimensional entity that resembles a stick figure.

That was not the only thing he noticed unusual in this world full of pecularities. He took noticed of the increased tension given off by Samanosuke - his heart rate in particular is rising with signs of anticipation and stress. For what reason, however, the rescue android is not aware of.

"Good day, Samanosuke," EDGE-01 called out as he approached, "Is there something the matter? You seem to be distressed by something."

Re: The Main Room
Through falling into the endless void below the Battlefield, Jin awoke in the Main Room once again. As he lifted himself off the floor, he noticed that he had been placed in a far-off corner of the room once again. That seemed to be how he ended up every time he won or lost a battle. Thankfully, it was a lot better than how he and the Princess had arrived in the Nexus, tumbling through the banquet table and its assortment of foods.

The first thing Jin noticed when he stood up was that he was, in fact, in control of his body again. Giving himself a once-over, nothing seemed to be missing, and he felt normal. Inspecting the money clip in his pocket, it had some extra money in it, proof of his - or rather his partner's - victory over Guile. What a mess that was! It had been a great test of endurance, though. That man was a powerhouse. Jin was about to congratulate the Princess when he suddenly felt a rising sense of dread.

Looking around, he now noticed Samanosuke, EDGE-01 and Stickman were here too. They were all facing the set of Doors... and Number Four was open. Only slightly, but it was slowly opening more and more. Given the cleaning robot's erratic behavior, this couldn't be good. It never was, anyway. Jin flexed the fingers of his right hand tentatively, before taking a deep breath and closing his eyes. He called out to the Princess who immediately drew him in, and they conversed within his mindscape.

--

Surrounded by nondescript grassy plains and a bright, sunny sky overhead, Jin was amused by the Princess' choice of decor. "This wasn't what I had in mind when I thought of how you'd imagine the inside of my head.", Jin said, chuckling a little. "You should have seen it before! I had a lot of remodeling to do, after that little incident we had.", the Princess responded. She scoffed very loudly at the end, showing her disdain for the Dread Sorcerer responsible for that. "In fact, it made me want a more natural-looking place.", she added. Jin sat, and then laid back in the grass, noticing there was a pleasant breeze blowing through the almost endless field.

"That door is open again.", Jin told the Princess as she hovered above him, looking concerned. "What should we do?" Countering his worry, she gave him a wide grin, as if to say, "Isn't it obvious?". "What we always do! I don't fear what's behind that door anymore, and you shouldn't either!", she told him, seeming rather upbeat despite the situation. Jin noted that she even seemed to forget about his jokes from earlier. That was good. Sure, we may not know who or what we'll face, or if we'll even come back alive... It reminds you of when we first set out on our journey, don't you think?" The Princess was right. The outside world was an enigma to Jin and his small group of companions when they left their walled city, taking the quest to thwart an army from invading their world. At every turn was peril, mystery and action. Then, suddenly, Jin found himself here. Whenever the Fourth Door opened, he felt like he was one step closer to finding a way home, through all the danger and fighting.

Sitting up, he met the Princess' gaze. "Alright. Let's see what the Nexus has in store for us this time.", Jin told his partner. She gave another toothy grin, and pushed Jin's consciousness back to the fore of his mind.

--

Opening his eyes, Jin slowly joined the group closer to Door Four, the foreboding evil presence growing stronger and stronger as he approached. His tattoos pulsed dimly, reacting to the presence within the room, or whatever lay beyond that door. The mixture of sounds was particularly eerie; The tinny clanking of armor and glass, the creaking of the hinges, the small cleaning robot's whirring and buzzing. Nobody spoke, save a brief exchange from earlier which Jin barely heard. "So, it looks like we've got some trouble again, huh?", Jin said, looking toward his allies, attempting to dissolve the tension.

Re: The Main Room
Felix had been standing at the edge of the room, watching the others mill about and take care of their business.  As the door slowly opened, he sighed and ran a hand through his thick, spiky hair.  Again?  It seemed like they had only just defeated the last foe...whatever was behind that door, it wouldn't be good.  It never was.

With another sigh, the young Adept approached Samanoskue, Jin and two others he had not met before.  One looked like a man but was clothed in rather interesting armor.  The other...he had no idea what it was.  It appeared as a crude child's drawing, but it was moving and breathing, clearly alive.  Despite all the unusual and unique things he came into contact with, Felix was constantly amazed at the things he saw here.

"Welcome, newcomers," Felix said to EDGE-01 and Stickman.  "I am Felix.  These are Samanosuke and Jin," he said, motioning to the swordsman and martial artist in turn.  "Prepare yourself...each time that door opens we end up in a vicious battle with a very powerful opponent."  Felix adjusted his sword and stretched his arms and legs quickly.  He wanted to be ready for this match.  He would have to help ensure that the new warriors survived.

Re: The Main Room
Samanosuke nodded in response to Jin and Felix, though he did not take his eyes off that door. By the slowness of the door, it didn't look like anything was coming into this room, but more like it was inviting them all in. What pattern was there for things like this? Were they meant to stop these enemies at their root, or were they meant to keep them from entering this place? From the brief discussion that N and that other wanderer had, it seemed like this place was a link between everything, so perhaps they were meant to guard that link from getting tarnished?

Re: The Main Room
Gilgamesh and Enkidu came clambering back into the Main Room.  Gilgamesh was not really paying much attention, focusing on adjusting and getting the Genji Shield "just so", thus nearly collided into the group.  Enkidu kept it from happening by tugging at the Sword Collector's cloak, which would have been comical (a giant wolf tugging on a ten-foot, armored-to-the-point-of-a-porcupine warrior), if everyone wasn't super focused on "The Door."

Gilgamesh was about to use of his other arms to swish at Enkidu, when he noticed the group staring at "The Door."  So, the Sword Collector did what any self-respecting warrior would do, he secured the Genji Shield, banged once on his Genji Armor, and put one hand down on the Genji Katana.

"Enough expository banter. It's time we fight like men. And ladies. And ladies who dress like men."

Pausing, Gilgamesh then said, "How long has everyone been standing here looking at it anyway?  Where is that scatter-batter cleaning robot?"

Enkidu rolled his eyes.

Re: The Main Room
A man, wearing a hood, fancy 18th century clothes, a coin purse, and daggers on his side, seemingly from nowhere, appeared inside the room, with his back facing whoever might be watching. He turned around, revealing a cybernetic implant, obviously out of this man's time, embedded in his eye, and a young charming face.

"This is not where I wanted to be..." he said as he tapped the side of his eye implant. He groaned.

"Damn thing is busted. The time travel feature is not working anymore..."

Looking around, he sees an open door, about to close, and the man smiled.
"Perhaps somebody could help me there..." he thought out loud as he ran inside the doors...

Re: The Main Room
It seemed that about as quickly as the door had swept in the fighters were they brought back to the white hall and the door was shut. The small robot on treads meekly looked at the sealed door again, then slowly wheeled itself around to look at the brave warriors returned from battle. The broomstick was still dislodged from the robot's body, but it paid no mind to that. It looked up at the fighters, as awestruck as any mute robot could be. To defeat an anomaly such as this in such a short amount of time with so little as a scratch on each of them... they may yet be ready for what else is coming up...

At least, that's what the robot hoped for, as it slowly wheeled back around, a couple of quick blue sparks erupted from the side of its head. As the robot slowly wheeled away, the sparks danced through the air but didn't actually go away, they sort of... hung... there. Slowly, the sparks grew and grew into small black holes, no larger than a half-dollar in size. If one were inclined to peer closer, something could be seen within the holes far off in the distance.

Re: The Main Room
Gilgamesh was one of the first out of the temple.  Unlike some of the previous conflicts, where he had almost been reduced to a pile of charred armor and cape, this time both he and Enkidu entered the Main Hall with heads held high.  Gilgamesh flexed muscled hands, blood pumping from the fight.  He could tell he and his fellow warriors had been growing much stronger over time, and they had all grown much more cohesive fighting together.  They'd even done well incorporating new warriors within their cohort.

The Sword Collector clinked his new sums of money in a coin purse tossed between his many hands, when the small, floating sparks caught his attention.  He blinked, unsure he had seen them, so he moved closer, looking carefully at the small black holes.

Re: The Main Room
Following the six-armed warrior out of the Temple of the Firestorm, Jin looked over his shoulder and into the room behind the Fourth Door. The image of the place beyond the door frame, at least to the young man, was becoming more and more difficult to see, a sort of haze overtaking the vivid scene within, with his fellow combatants remaining clear. Jin shook his head and turned back to the Main Room. Patting his pockets, he felt the noticeably wider money clip and smiled, producing the metal object. Jin had never seen so much money at one time in one place, and for a second it felt surreal.

The Princess lay hovering a few feet above the small gathering, one leg dangling as if she were afloat on some invisible raft. It's not like the money is real. Don't go thinking you can bring it back with you. I'd rather spend it here to gain more power., she said, and it made Jin frown. His family was never one of the better off in their town, but they made ends meet, and were happy. The idea of this wealth to him was an opportunity, while he was sure to the Princess it was little more than pocket change. He was about to tell her this when she noticed the sparks in the air, and the almost unnoticeable holes left by them.

The Princess eagerly approached and got as close as she could, one large eye held up to the tears in space as if looking through a peephole on a door. Jin reflexively stayed put, reminding himself of the other times something "out of the ordinary" had happened here. He even laughed a bit at the thought, as he was reminded of just how strange this place was to begin with. The Princess continued to peer through one of the holes, as she had spotted something far within - though too far even for her improved sight to behold it clearly.

Jin moved to the side to allow the others further in to the Main Room, and warily swept his gaze from corner to corner, across the banquet table, and down the corridors beyond, perhaps expecting some other strange happenings.

For his first time participating in a great battle, EDGE-01 was relatively unscathed. Granted he was not able to help out much until the very end, but he did put a dent on their adversary. He checked his condition, assessing his systems for after effects of the fight to find traces of energy that are different. Perhaps they are some form currency that can be used for enhancements?

"That was quite a dangerous situation," EDGE-01 remarked as he looked to the others, allies for the same cause during the moment crisis, "Is everyone all right?"

If incidents like this are to happen again in the future, it is imperative for EDGE-01 to get stronger. It would definitely help if he can assist the others in a more significant way.

Re: The Main Room
Ghost walks out of the room to the room where he found himself before. He just took part in helping to topple two of the hardest demons he ever fought, and, well, they were his first. He has been to a lot of strange places, but not one place had one where a white-eyed batter, six-armed swordsman, green android, a samurai, an element wielding warrior, and a 2 dimensional drawing helped to bring down two headless demon twins. He welcomes the sight, loving the see all the different things of the world. He begins to tap his implant again.

"I hear it. The circuitry is out of place. So many things are fried... it didn't handle the warp to my destination, so it just dropped me here..."

Ghost has to fix his implant if he wants to leave this place. He started walking around when he notices the sparks fly off the little robot's head. He paid no mind, until he saw that... they just hung there. Sparks don't do that. He investigates the holes closer...

After that he looks around to notice a shop. That looked promising.

Stickman slowly stepped out of the boss room. He was tired as hell! Sure, the veteran fighters all did a lot more damage than he did, but he gave his all and also took a lot of beating! It's only thanks to Felix and Gilgamesh that he had not been reduced to a pool of ink. He seriously needed to get his hand on that egg bringing thing when he gets the chance...

Well at least he had been rewarded a ton of money now! With that he would surely become a lot more powerful and be able to aid or even compete with the others! Before he would go to the item room however he noticed the small sparking black holes. Curious as he was he went closer to it to take a look at it.

When nothing happened, Gilgamesh shrugged and stepped back away from the small, floating holes.  If he stopped to investigate every strange thing that happened around here, he would never get to adding to his collection of swords, after all.  Speaking of which, he had completely forgot to pick up one of those demon blades after the fight.  He face palmed his forehead with one of his many hands, Edge's words snagging his attention,

quote:
"That was quite a dangerous situation," EDGE-01 remarked as he looked to the others, allies for the same cause during the moment crisis, "Is everyone all right?"

Gilgamesh chuckled, "Better than alright!  That was fantastic!"  Flexing his arms, he patted a few of the pommels of the arsenal that he had donned all about this person.  "Usually we take quite the beating when that door opens, I dare say we are coming together stronger every time."

Patting the money pouch at his hip, he continued, "It's time to go pay the money grubber for another map."  The Sword Collector left the group and headed into another room.

Jin watched Gilgamesh go, assuming his intentions to be an upgrade of some sort. A new sword, maybe another piece of armor? Again, the young man thought to his lack of weapons. The Princess chimed in, still looking into the holes ripped in the air before the group.

It'll be ready sooner than I thought. For now, I still want to investigate this. See whether or not we might grow a bit stronger before something new and horrible comes of these tears in space. Go on!, she said, briefly looking back to her host. Remember, we are connected. I'll warn you if anything DOES happen., the Princess added.

With a hesitant shrug, Jin looked once more over the entirety of the Main Room, before turning to enter the Item Room. The Princess remained near the curious holes, still trying to see whatever it was in the distance.

EDGE-01 is somehow relieved that everyone came out all right from the crisis, and this one is relatively lighter than the previous ones. The unusual sparks that the maintenance robot is leaking out is unusual, however, and it entailed a much closer scrutiny before he can go about his own business.

These energy sparks are unusual that they lingered in the air, supplying their own light and not fading like normal sparks that come from partially damaged machinery. EDGE-01 proceeded to run a full scan on the one nearest him, staying at an arm's length to be sure. Once he can scan out the nature of these sparks can he decide whether it is safe to touch them or not.

Re: The Main Room
Upon gazing into the small holes in reality, different locations were visible. Different places that even those who had explored this realm had never seen. Fire pits with strange creatures, calm grassy plains as far as the eye could see, a large metropolis bustling with futuristic technology. However, something seemed a little off with those places. Even though they were void of most life, it felt as though something was looming there, ready to upset or destroy those worlds...

And with that, before anyone else could look through those, the holes shrunk and disappeared. The cleaning bot, mostly unaware of what was happening, was the only thing that could have actually done something like that, with the sparking that was coming from something to do with its head, possibly a short circuit or fault somewhere. Perhaps that may be a cause of what's happening with the other worlds?

Re: The Main Room
The results the rescue android has gathered would have required more information, if it were not for these minuscule portals finally shrinking out of existence by themselves. Could it be that the cleaning robot has some capability of opening pathways to other worlds? That aside, the danger readings EDGE-01 was getting in these locations are unusual. What could be causing that assessment from his scanners? There was no time to make additional analysis now that the portals are gone. He will have to take note of this in the event of a repeat occurrence.

For now, the best EDGE-01 can do is make improvements in anticipation of greater threats. This leads him forward to the room where items are acquired for improvements.

Re: The Main Room
The Princess eyed the minuscule worlds beheld through those tiny rips in space with curiosity. Were these other parts of the Nexus, or places that it led to? Why did she feel such a far-off but certain presence of evil when she gazed upon them? Before her thoughts could go any further, the holes closed, causing the impish girl to jump back suddenly. Jin then returned from the Item Room, looking at one of the bottles he had purchased, studying its label.

The Princess sensed his slight growth in strength and immediately began to pull him away from the group, perhaps to talk to him away from the others' earshot. Not that the distance mattered; They could simply communicate through thoughts, but it seemed that fact had slipped the Princess' mind for the moment. I saw other worlds through those holes, Jin. What's more, the robot seemed to create them! I caught it just as we returned from our battle. There may be a chance that simple machine is connected to all this in a deeper manner than we thought. It repelled whatever was attempting to invade from beyond that Door before, remember?

Jin kept up with most of his partner's spiel as he looked at the cleaning bot accomplishing its mundane routine. Sweep here, dust there, occasionally glancing at the group and the doors. How can that little guy do so much though?, Jin wondered. He sat at one of the many tables beside the largest, sighing as he placed his chin in his hands. As he began to think of who to challenge next, the Princess remembered something. Something vital. She commanded him to stand and fished the young man's cell phone from his pocket, frantically pressing at the keys. Growing frustrated, she thrust what she believed to be archaic technology in his face.

Take this piece of junk and show me the picture you took of that robot before! You should remember, right? When we first arrived here!, she demanded. Jin took his phone from her and flipped it open. Still no service. Jin laughed; As if that would change. He pressed a few keys and brought up the pictures folder, which contained only a few snapshots - One of him, his brothers and mother, his group of friends, and one of his room, all before the one he had taken of the cleaning robot. Curiously, he paused at the picture of his room, focused seemingly on nothing.

You tried to take a picture of me to prove to yourself you weren't crazy, remember? Obviously it didn't work., she reminded him, snickering. Jin found the picture of the cleaning robot and zoomed in. The Princess's eyes lit up as she noticed those same blue sparks, floating almost unnoticed in the air beside it. There was proof! Maybe we can make it happen again!, the Princess said, suddenly forcing Jin toward the robot. He unwillingly blocked its path, and waited for the 'bot to look up at him. Meanwhile, the Princess struggled to move Jin's arm up to take the picture.

Is the flash on?
"Yes, and I don't think this is a good i-"
How do you make the picture bigger? Move it to the left!
"The little wheel button! Now please, I think we s-"
Stop moving so much! This could be our way out of here!
"Ugh. Little guy, I think you should move."

Jin finally lost the mental struggle with his partner and she pressed the keypad, a bright flash accompanying the audible "Cheese~!" from the phone's speakers.

Seeing what was beyond the holes Stickman moved his upper body back, a exclamation mark appearing above his head. New worlds! Luckily he didn't poke his head inside or otherwise he would be one head shorter now. And he needed his head to fight, duh. That reminded him; he still had a lot of money to spent, didn't he?

With that in mind he moved to door 1 to claim his prize. Unlike other warriors he did not reclaim his skills, instead he would acquire new ones. He could only imagine what he would get, well maybe he simply got stronger like before, who knows?
