--> From Door 2: Conference Room

Gilgamesh and Enkidu left the Conference Room and slipping through the Main Hall entered the Hall of Portraits once again.  Skimming through the pictures, the duo stopped before a floating painting of a little girl with red hair.  The girl was dressed in a red goth-loli attire.  Most interesting was the giant hammer she was holding behind her back... but due to her size, the hammer wasn't at ALL hidden.

"Interesting, Enkidu.  Perhaps if we defeat this girl, we can claim that hammer as our own.  It would be an excellent addition to our arsenal."

The wolf's tongue hung out as if in laughter.

Gilgamesh reached out and touched the portrait.

Gwendolyn stalked into the room of portraits and glared at them.  "I do not like the idea of playing to our captor's tune.  However..."  She fingered the jewel on her Psypher spear.  "I have had enough of doing nothing."  She looked the portraits over, eyes skimming past the weaker fighters, before her eyes settled on a warrior with blonde hair in a strange hairstyle.  He would do nicely.

Once he and Edge had arrived in the third Room, Jin spread his arms wide as he spoke. He wasn't completely sure who or what he was speaking to when any of them made these requests, but they always seemed to comply in one way or another.

"I challenge the android, EDGE-01, with his choice of battlefield!", Jin shouted. The words reverberated through the seemingly empty hall, but he knew they would work.

Challenging EDGE-01 to battle. He may choose the stage.

EDGE-01 directs his gaze to the images of stages available for use, studying each one. He finally points to the one called the Blood Gulch.

"This location looks to be a good location to do battle," EDGE-01 states as he then looks to Jin's direction, "A balanced battlefield to exercise military tactics, from the looks of it."

Re: Door 3: Fight Request Room
Jin strode into the Hall of Portraits with a purpose. As he made his way down the carpeted hall, turning into one of the side rooms, the Princess lingered in the main area. Several of the portraits rested here, filling the walls. It was eerie to know that each of them held the essence of a fighter, one way or the other. One would wonder if they were all staring at them while they passed through. Truthfully, even with her magical prowess, the Princess was at a loss to how that worked.

Perhaps it's some sort of vessel that holds the soul of the pictured? Hm. Not the time for that., she told herself, focusing on the task at hand. The Princess' form coalesced, hazy at first, and slowly became opaque and clear. She opened her mind, feeling for any changes in the forces at work. There seemed to be nothing, but...

"Princess! What are you doing? I'm ready to go in here!", Jin asked, leaning out of the room he was in. He was quieted quickly by the Demon.

I need complete focus for this! Go on about your business; I'll be ready in a second. Jin shrugged and returned to the room he was traipsing about in. He looked to the portraits around him, several of which had brought him great victories and humble defeats. Finally, Jin found who he was looking for. She had beaten him twice in the past; Now, this small, but powerful girl would be a personal test for Jin.

"You were the first one I fought here, and you handed me my ass. The second time, too. Now, i'll show you and whoever runs this place that i'm strong enough for the bigger challenges. This time, you're going down!", Jin said. As he reached out to touch the portrait of the red-haired Hammer Knight, the Princess felt something odd. It was far off, only at the edge of her senses, but there nonetheless. A hint of evil, of negativity. Worse even, it was creeping closer. She rushed to tell Jin, but before she could reach him, the duo were whisked off to another battle.

Re: Door 3: Fight Request Room
--> From ??????

A rip in the air silently appeared.  It pulsed a dark, purple-lightning about its edges, like a tear in space.  First a hand appeared... then many more, as a gigantic warrior stepped through the ripple.  The warrior was dressed in red-tattered cloth and light armor.  Though, this armor was set off against a contrast of a sheer arsenal of weaponry strapped about his body.

Smoke still poured off his form... whether this was from his "recent" battle against the Covenant or because he was pulled somewhere else in-between, only he would know.  Time and space were sort of fluid concepts in this place anyway.  Glancing around him, he gave off something like a growl, which was echoed by a giant wolf that just slipped out of the portal to join him.

"It seems, Enkidu, that our Journey is not yet finished.  The Void returns us here... to meet more warriors and gather our strength."

The giant wolf might have wined in announce.

"Peace, Enkidu.  After our last foe, we could do with a good rough up to get the blood flowing."

Glancing at the portraits, Gilgamesh walked amongst them, glancing at Vita, he shook his head as he recalled her escaping with her giant hammer.  It had been a good fight, but he had not acquired the weapon he had sought in that engagement.  Turning his head, his eyes rest upon the portrait of Leon.  Something about the expression and stance reminded him of other such warriors he had met across the Worlds.  This would be a good change of pace.  Plus, there was a darkness and death that seemed to cling as a rotten stench to the portrait.

"Come, Enkidu!  Battle calls!"

Gilgamesh grasped one of his many pommels and reached out to touch the portrait.

Re: Door 3: Fight Request Room
-> From: Mail Hall

The Stickman followed Enkidu and Gilgamesh to the portrait room as he considered what the sword collector had said. In the end he only made a simple shrug as he answered with a speech bubble. " I have many names. People usually just call me Stickman though. What about you and your companion?" The speech bubble kept floating above his head as he passed the door frame. He couldn't wait to see what Gilgamesh meant by someone looking familiar.

Since the Stickman was focused on the door in front of him and the conversation he was having, he did not notice Jin, who had left the first door and entered the main hall at that time. If he had known that, he would have waited, since meeting more people would certainly have been more interesting. However, since the demon man was planning to battle, it was likely that they would meet in this room sooner or later.

Re: Door 3: Fight Request Room
--> From Main Hall

Gilgamesh turned his head back toward Stickman as he finished waving back at Jin and happened to see the speech bubbles rising.  He could remember that.  Stickman.  The six-armed warrior liked when names matched their appearances or when words even sounded like what they were.  Mushy.  Squishy.  Moist.

Bringing his thoughts back from their wandering, he replied, while the himself and Stickman walked through the floating portraits.  "You can call me Gilgamesh.  He," he pointed over at the wolf, "is my companion, Enkidu.  Though he will also answer to Wolf."

Stopping before one of the portraits, Gilgamesh moved to the side so Stickman could see around him.  At that moment, Gilgamesh wondered how Stickman could hear him, considering he spoke back in little bubbles.  It was just a brief thought however, as he indicated the portrait of Mr. Game and Watch.

"Tada!  I have never actually met this... person?... on the field of battle.  The nature of the image has confused me.  However, with both of us together, perhaps we would stand a chance, since you might understand what it or he or she actually is."

With another hand, Gilgamesh pointed over at an image of Dan Hibiki, "And to make it fair, we could also see if we could summon him to the fight.  I've met him once on the field of battle... in a starship no less.  I may have zapped with him a laser-gun-like weapon.  Not sure if he will remember that or not."

Gilgamesh realized that some of what he was saying probably made only a little sense, but he also knew the best way to learn about this place was experience, and Stickman was about to experience firsthand.

Re: Door 3: Fight Request Room
Stickman tilted his head as he looked at the portrait of the other pitch black being. He looked oddly familiar, but at the same time he didn't. Well it was still just a portrait, so if he was going to find out anything, it would be once he met him. As Gilgamesh gestured at the second adversary, the newbie couldn't help, but be surprised. The contrast between the two was ridiculous.

After he was done examining the heroes, Stickman turned back towards Gilgamesh and nodded. At least they didn't look that frightening. In any case, he was ready, well, as much as he could be at least. Not knowing what he had to do to engage into battle, he simply waited for Gilgamesh to handle it, watching him closely to be able to do it himself in the future.

Gilgamesh gave a nod in return.  He spoke out loud to Stickman, while demonstrating what he was doing.  "I have never asked the other warriors in this place, but for me, reaching out and touching the portraits has always worked for me.  As I touch them, battlefields flash through my mind, and I focus on one of them.  Then... like magic... poof, we will find ourselves removed."

As he finished, one of Gilgamesh's hands touched the portrait of Mr. Game and Watch, while another touched the nearby floating Dan Hibiki.  In his mind, Gilgamesh focused...

Re: Door 3: Fight Request Room
Catching the Sword Collector's grin, Jin couldn't help but feel excited. Fighting was never his forte before he and the Princess met. Now, it seemed like he ached for battle. He tended to blame the Dark Matter, but according to his counterpart, frequent use of the stuff unearthed parts of the user they might find... unsettling. Regardless, Jin had left any fear of becoming some crazed, battle hungry maniac long ago. As long as he and the Princess were together, he would be fine. Right now, what was on his mind, or rather, the Princess's, was the fact that they would potentially fighting another weapon user, with no weapons themselves.

Even though I'm treating Samanosuke as a special case, the Princess told her host, remembering his title, we should not act as though this Gilgamesh is any different. He displayed immense power and skill during the battles we have fought alongside him. I even fear that he may begin to covet my Lance, of all things, the 'Collector' he is., she finished. As the impish form of the Princess came into view beside Jin, she waved her fingers, and into Jin's now outstretched hands came the Lance of Nightfall. However, it did not bristle with energy as it usually did. It seemed devoid of that particular destructive essence right now.

"Wait, you can do that? Why can you do that? I thought I was always throwing, I don't know, some sort of huge ticking time bomb here!", Jin exclaimed, shaking the weapon up and down as he fumed at his partner. She simply laughed in amusement. Though the recent boost in power had given her more control over her weapon, she would not tell Jin that. Of course I can. I am a part of this weapon, remember? I just fear you might scratch it up, if you were to use it to fight others.

Jin sneered at her concerns. It BLOWS UP every time I throw it, so why would some scratches matter?, he thought, examining the unblemished black edge. Was it even keen? Jin moved to touch the blade, and the Princess stopped his hand herself, shaking her head. You don't want to be on the receiving end of this again, do you?, was what the young man read in her stare. It was accompanied by the usual sardonic grin. Jin could only give his own mocking laughter in response. The Lance broke into tiny fragments, and almost like a cloud of dust, swirled in the wind and back into the form of the Princess. She floated away from Jin and into the third Door, and Jin followed. The Dream Team, he thought, following her.

--

You seem to forget that we are connected. I hear all of your thoughts., she told Jin, as she glided further into the Hall of Portraits, toward some of the more imposing looking fighters. Jin walked along, noticing that Gilgamesh and the newcomer had already left. He wondered where they might be, and who they might be fighting. The Princess turned a corner and went out of view. "So, will we actually be using it to fight people all the time now, or what?", Jin asked, cupping a hand to his mouth to amplify his voice. The query echoed through the rather large hall, and down more empty corridors. How big was this place, really? Jin turned the same corner the Princess had, and found himself staring at a very large portrait of a man, with unruly reddish hair, wearing what looked to be a Pilot's uniform. Jin could not find the Princess. Jin thought he recognized the man, but then realized he bore to him a striking resemblance.

"Wait, is this who we're fighting next?", Jin asked the still-unseen Princess. He studied the painting intently, thinking it to be some kind of joke. They looked too alike, Jin and this... 'Ken Toramune'. Jin read the name, and then a look of surprise crossed his face. It was quickly followed by a look of irritation. Jin turned and began to walk back toward the entrance to the room. He would wait for Gilgamesh and the Stickman there. He mumbled angrily as he went, but then, just as he neared the corner at which the pair turned before, Jin was stopped in his tracks. Slowly, his features changed, and a blink of the eyes revealed their color to be a burnt orange now. Jin smiled and turned back toward the portrait.

"No. This is who I am fighting next. It's been far too long, and I believe a test of my skills is in order, wouldn't you say?", the Princess asked, now in full control of her host. She stretched his limbs as if just awakened from a long slumber. As the Princess reached out and touched the painting, images of the various fields of battle swimming through the pair's mind, Jin could only watch as the familiar white light filled his vision, and took them away to their next battle.

Our names have the same number of letters! And they're both three for the first!, the Princess could hear Jin complaining, as the rush of energy took them, and the Hall of Portraits became silent.

There is this rather ordinary-looking youth among them, no doubt a farmer if judging from his manner of dress. Gilgmesh and Enkidu strode into the Portrait room once more.  Energized and full of new strength from their victory over the monster Ganon, they knew they still had to get even stronger.  It had taken four of them to defeat the monster.  This was not the Gilgamesh of old.  He needed to regain even more of his lost strength.

Wandering through the portraits, he finally stopped at one that was tucked away, hidden behind another.  The face of the warrior looked both lonely and lost, but determined.  Gilgamesh knew that feeling, thankfully he had always had Enkidu in the worst moments.  He would see what this warrior was all about.  Gilgamesh reached out and touched the portrait:

Again the young man and his partner entered the Hall of Portraits, ready to once more test their mettle. Walking briskly past the smaller portraits up front, the Princess stopped at one of a middle-aged military man. His gaze captured the Demoness' attention, and she knew he would be a worthy opponent. Touching the picture frame, the Princess waited for the magic of the Nexus to sweep her and Jin away to battle.

Sad that the planeswalking feature on his implant is still malfunctioning, Ghost decides to check out another door. Walking in, he notices picture frames floating all around him in the room. He does not recognize most of them, but the paintings give the feeling that he should. Except for that one picture on the floor in the corner.

Curious, he closes his eye and his implant and turns around, pointing finger out. His intention was to open his eyes and find out if he can recall mention of one, but accidentally brushes one of the portraits. Opening his eyes, he's surprised to see a flamboyant man, wearing pink clothing, smiling proudly at him.

Re: Door 3: Fight Request Room
Gilgamesh and Enkidu appeared out of the Void making the leap from the Item purchase room... a bit lazy, but a nice shortcut and trick for the duo.  Gilgamesh had finally reclaimed the entire Genji armor set from the Void, and he was a towering, giant warrior now sporting "that look."  And he was just itching to try it all out.  He wanted to see if the genji gloves for example... still fit like a glove.  It was time to put it through its paces... and to give another warrior he had recently fought a fair chance.  He had recently fought Kaim, and he felt that he had not actually faced the warrior's true potential.  It was time to face the warrior again, and give the other swordsman a second chance.

Gilgamesh stands in the middle of the portrait room and just points.... at the image of Kaim Argonar.
