Re: OOC

I'm so tempted to make a character using only the core books (PHB, MM, DMG) just to see how he stacks up against everyone else using all of these crazy concepts and combinations.

That actually would be interesting.  We don't have any core characters as far as I know.  Corthan - the top druid - has things from other books thrown in there.

Re: OOC

I'm actually in the process of making an arena-ready Druid as a secondary character, but I'm not opposed to making a completely core character (not even the flaws from UA) as another alternate if anyone else wants to make one for a core character challenge.

CORE CHARACTER
I am also very interested in making just a core character. I will have a new character within a day or two ready to fight any other CORE character.

See you in the arena!

I knew someone out there would be up for it. This week is kinda hectic for me, but I should have one ready by sometime next week.

Once Antaeus and Yangash have been updated for level change, we both need to be moved up a tier in the rankings.

Is there a published Feat or class ability anywhere that allows a Ranged Touch attack to be used as a Melee touch attack? Other than 'Hold Ray' from Enlightened Fist, that is.

Re: OOC

Unfortunately, I don't believe so. If there is, it's 3rd party/Dragon Magazine. And what do you mean 'why' he's a Duskblade. Pretty self evident what he wants to do. :P

Spell Storing might work for a few spells, but almost all (if not all) ranged touch attack spells are effect spells, rather than targeted spells.

*facepalm*
Might try picking your favorite melee touch spell and metamagic-ing it to high heaven. I recommend Combust.

Re: OOC

Well, that would be nice if it was a Duskblade spell. Duskblade has a noticable lack of channelable touch spells on its list, which is one of the reasons I don't really like it. :|

Does Smiting Spell do that?

Not quite. Smiting Spell requires a Range of Touch.

Re: OOC

Isn't there a Ranged Metamagic Feat? To change a melee touch spell to short range? If so, can we postulate the existence of its opposite?

Reach Spell.
Also multiple class features.

To my knowledge, there isn't a feat that does the reverse.

I was suggesting it under the assumption that he would find a way to add it to his spell list.

Re: OOC

There is Reach Spell, but the opposite of it wouldn't do anything for you. It changes a 'Touch Range' spell to a 'Close Range' spell, there are no Close Range spells that are rays (that I know of), thus, the reverse would not be particularly useful for you. You could homebrew a 'Ranged Touch' to 'Melee Touch' metamagic, but that would be a fair bit different rules-wise, and well, basically just making a metamagic feat exclusively tailormade to benefit you/the other duskblades. :P

EDIT: Also, that wasn't really me going 'it's not on the duskblade list, so he can't take it', it was me going 'I wish it was on the duskblade list because the duskblade needs more interesting touch spells'. I wasn't disagreeing with you or refuting you. :P

Yeah, I know. I'm looking at the full casters at my level and beyond and seeing their versatility. I'm looking for a way to expand my own versatility without taking level dips.

Ah, sorry. I definitely agree that it's disappointing for Duskblade to have so few spells that work with their own main mechanic.

Well, the spell compendium itself does say to work with your GM on spells appropriate for casters not mentioned in the book (like shegunjas and wujens and the like.) So maybe it wouldn't be beyond reason to pull some spells from that book at least.
