Episode 2-2

Picking up from last episode:

Graham pulls the jeep up in front of the empty house.  Everyone in the jeep gets out and starts unloading what they brought.

The electricity is on in the house, water is running too.  Everyting is normal except trying to call outside Sunnydale is still impossible.

Re: Episode 2-2

Mike walks right in the front door. Since the house has no owner, he can enter freely.

Re: Episode 2-2

Annabelle entered the house with the urn in one hand and Emilia's luggage in the other.  She looked around the interior of the house admiringly.

"I'll take one of the rooms upstairs. If there is one room with two beds, Emilia and I don't mind sharing.............I mean...........

Annabelle chokes back tears, but manages to keep her composure. "I'll be taking an upstairs room."

Mike looks around, then says "Basement's fine. It's more comfortable then some of the places I've had to sleep at need. A sun free environment is essentially to my continued well being."

Re: Episode 2-2

Accomadations now taken care of,  Mike starts the conversation for the group to plan its next move.

Hmmm.

"As for destroying the shield generator...I don't know. I really wish we had a witch or a warlock or something to magic up where it is. As it is, we're essentially carving up minions till one of them lets slip where it is. Unless Buffybot over there can hack into a computer, interface with it, and pull up possible locations."

Sadly Buffybot had nothing to add to the convo. She looks over at Graham and Annabelle to see if they have more to add. Still the listened because it was a wake up call see needed as well. Of course a police scanner would've been useful even in the short run.....

"I guess everyone forgot in all the excitement.  Emilia worked out the center of the force field before............she died. It's in the high school which was where all the Turok-Hans were at the time. So we went to the military base instead. The Turok-Hans will almost certainly be gone, we can investigate it now.

OCC: Emilia calculated the center of the field at the start of ep 1-8.

"Investigating the school should be a good start. I recommend we use a team approach for this op.  We all go in together, secure the area, then split up to search the site. We can determine what kind of CAR is powering the field and how to handle it from there." At the blank looks from the others, he says, "Sorry, I'm in the habit of speaking in acronyms.  CAR stands for 'Creature, Artifact, or Ritual' which was the Initiative's method of classifying threats."

Re: Episode 2-2

Sunnydale high school:

15 minutes later, Graham pulls the jeep up to the main front entrance of the high school carrying everyone else. He just completed a circle around the building before parking, no one else is in the vicinity.

Cloud cover is still strong making the sun no danger to Michael (or any other vamp).

One of the front doors to the main entrance is hanging half way off its hinges, and the door frame is bent out of shape.  That's what happens when a mob of Turok-Hans rush to get out, which they did once the sun had set from last night. There are signs of minor fire damage at the front entrance and at other doorways from yesterday's aborted attempt to torch the building (with all the Turok-Hans inside at the time).

Otherwise everything is quiet with no sign of danger.

Yet.

"Graham, I don't supposed you brought along some walkie talkies when you investigated the military base this morning? That would allow us to stay in contact with each other."

Re: Episode 2-2

Five minutes later the group has split and began searching the high school in two directions.

Annabelle, Graham, and Michael go one way, Buffybot the other. Graham has a walkie talkie with him as does Buffybot so they can stay in contact.

19:13, Today: Michael Smith rolled 15 using 1d10+6. Per+Notice.

Mike was alert...and led his team exactly to where he expected the Turok Han to be. Specifically, the auditorium where he originally saw the count of 50 or so. It was time to make that number 0 with the help of the big ass sword he found in the house.

Re: Episode 2-2

Annabelle Berkshire rolled 11 using 1d10+5. notice check.

Annabelle immediately began looking around the inside of the school, then planned to hit one classroom at a time to ensure no stone was left unturned.

"Michael!  Where are you going?!  We have all these rooms to check!"

She quickly dashed after Michael who seemed to know exactly where he was going with his direct and purposeful stride.  "Wait up!  Come on Graham, we shouldn't get separated!"

Mike said, bluntly, "I'm going to the auditorium, where we originally found 50 Turok Han gathered. There should only be about 20 left. At any rate, whatever it is is probably being guarded by them. So I'm going to eliminate a lot of pointless searching and take them out."

In reply to Michael Smith (msg # 39):

Graham shook his head as he followed the vampire and Slayerette toward the auditorium.  Despite moving quickly, he kept scanning around for signs of any vampires, while stashing the walkie-talkie in his pocket and pulling out a stake.  "Complete lack of discipline in this group will mostly get us killed," he growled under his breath.  But no matter how stupid your teammates may act, you have to back them up. "Or die trying," he muttered, finishing the caveat from his old team.

In a louder whisper, he says, "Keep your voices down. We don't want to advertise our presence and lose any advantage we might have."

Re: Episode 2-2

Less than a minute later; Michael, Annabelle, and Graham arrive at the entrance to the school auditorium.

Mike kicks open the door and enters. No Turok-Han. Zero.  If the ubervamps are in the school building, they are not here.

In the auditorium:

"Well Michael, no Turok-Han here.Annabelle said stepping up to join him."I doubt any are here, with the outdoor conditions, they are free to roam the town looking for anything to kill which is all those beasties want. There may be a stray one wandering these halls, but none in great numbers. Nothing the three of us can't handle."

She glances from Michael to Graham.  "Now can we please go back to where we started and begin searching for the source of the force field?"

"Well, there goes that plan. If it was here, they've obviously moved it. Alright, back to the other plan. We'll search every room."

Annabelle said nothing else until the three began to search the first classroom.
"Perhaps either of you can tell me more about Buffybot. Graham you seem to trust her.  Michael you trust her and have told us more about her than she's told us herself. Did Buffy's friend Willow build her?

Mike shook his head.

"Yes, and no. She was originally built for Spike's perversions as a sexbot. Buffy and Willow, disgusted by this, reprogrammed her to replace the real Buffy when she temporarily died. She's been used as a substitute ever since. Of course...there's no replacing the original, and I, at least, can't fix the replacement if she breaks down.

Speaking of Spike, he's supposed to have died down here, but I wonder what my sire's doing? He should be in Los Angeles somewhere.

Re: Episode 2-2

Annabelle ponders this for a moment.

"That makes me feel safer about Buffybot. I was uncomfortable with the idea of something that wasn't human stealing the Slayer's identity.  But if the Slayer herself anointed the robot doppleganger as her successor, that changes things considerably.

She continues searching for another minute, then: "Now tell me more about Spike.  He sounds like quite the sad sack if he has to build a fake girlfriend. But the Slayer seemed to hold him in high regard. When I first arrived in Sunnydale, Spike had been captured by agents of the First Evil and one of Buffy's top priorities was to rescue him.

Re: Episode 2-2

Mike said, "From a vampiric point of view, he's my 'nephew' even though he's over a century older then me. The thing is, even though he was soulless, he had the ability to feel some sort of twisted mockery of love, and felt that for Buffy. He wasn't very good at it though. Eventually, he decided to get a soul back on his own, and it drove him insane for a while. But I'm told he went out a proper hero, using an amulet that channeled sunlight to take out...almost all of the Turok Han."
