Episode 2-5

The back door to The Fish Tank opens quietly, no effort needed to get in since it was unlocked.
Annabelle, Mike, and Buffy enter and make their way to the main bar area.

No one is there but the three of them.

The lingering stench of alcohol mixed with blood mixed with harsh body odor is overwhelming.

Most people that went to The Fish Tank did three things:

1) Drink a lot.
2) Get into fights a lot.
3) Not bathe regularly.

Mike feels dizzy for a moment.  The downside to having a superior sense of smell is unpleasant scents like these hit him harder.  Curiously Mike picks up no lingering scent of vampires or demons, indicating The Fish Tank is/was a mostly human hangout.

The "decor" of The Fish Tank indicates that housekeeping was not a top priority for the owners.  Calling it rundown would be an insult to legitimate rundown places. The health department in Sunnydale must have been getting some kind of payoff for The Fish Tank to stay in business for so long.

All the furniture is still here and there is a backroom with two cots.  No food and no alcohol though, the owners packed all that up when they evacuated.

Re: Episode 2-5

Annabelle recoils as if she had been attacked by a skunk once she makes it to the center of The Fish Tank.

"Oh my God! Who or what died in here!  We can't stay here!  This is beneath my dignity! This is beneath a homeless person's dignity!  I feel like I need a tetanus shot just looking at it!  It's beyond dreadful!  It's.........it's...........it's perfect.

Annabelle's expression of horror softens as you can almost see the gears turning in her brain.

"Yes, it's perfect.  No one would think  to look for us here in a hundred years."

Mike chuckled, "I figured you'd "like" it. But then, it was called the Fish Tank. Presumably because it smells like dead fish. Lots of them."

Even Mike's nose is offended, and like most vampires, he occasionally has to go through sewers.

""The first thing I'll attend to is assessing my newly acquired power."

Annabelle walked over to the nearest table and lifted it over her head with minimal effort.  Setting the table down, she walked to the other side of the room, then proceeded to do multiple somersaults across the room that would make an olympic gymnast green with envy.

"There is no doubt, I am the Slayer now.  My power level is commiserate with that of a new Slayer.  But I don't understand the sudden power boost I received in the beginning.  My watcher never explained anything like that.

Mike thought about it...

"Well, we could spar until you understand your current limits. It's important to know what your full power is...and when to ask for help. Equally important to know when you don't need it. As for the powerboost you started with...no idea. I haven't been around long enough to see a Slayer infused. And you're sadly lacking a Watcher at the moment."

"You're not wrong about that."Annabelle said, wishing a watcher was here to explain it all.

"Sparring to test my abilities sounds like a peachy idea.Annabelle said pondering for a moment.

"But I think now might be a good time to procure supplies.  If twenty vampire policemen are at the scene of the secret base right now, then that's twenty less of them out on the streets looking for us. You're going to need blood and I'm going to need food if we're going to stay here for a while.

Mike agreed.

"Right. I don't...want to get hungry when it's just us in here."

After all, it doesn't take much math to figure out there's only one source of blood in the room...and that's not a good idea. At all.

"Neither do I."Annabelle said making sure the cross around her neck was clearly exposed lest Michael give in to temptation.

He may be an ensouled vampire, but putting human blood in front of him was like putting a six pack in front of a recovering alcoholic.

"Perhaps in this case, splitting up may be wise.  I'll proceed to the local market and grab as much food I can fit into one shopping cart and come back here. Meanwhile, Michael you can go about procuring your blood supply. Buffybot can stay here and guard our new sanctuary, lest a vampire or two wanders in and tries to squat here.

Mike, not wanting to get too hungry with only one source of blood around, proceeded to leave in search of blood stores to claim. Sometimes he wondered if that was the enemy strategy. Take blood supplies away until hunger killed Annabelle.

He wouldn't let that happen...

Annabelle headed for the nearest supermarket, grabbed a cart, and headed for fruits and vegetables section.  After loading up quite a variety, she headed for the coffee and tea aisle and grabbed the imitation British tea before heading for the frozen food section.

She was making good time, Slayer speed certainly came in handy.

"Vegetarian pizza.  Lovely.  Save me the trouble of scraping off the meat."she said out loud as she grabbed a stack of pizzas and then grabbed anything of a vegetarian nature she could find.

Somewhere between the blood bank and The Fish Tank:

Despite his best intentions to avoid a fight over blood, some vamps have other ideas. Mike is on his way back to The Fish Tank when suddenly a vampire springs from the alleyway.  Not a vamp cop or Turok-Han, just a run of the mill vamp."Hey!  You just came from the blood bank didn't you?!  I was on the way there!  That's my blood! Give to me!"

The lone vamp moves to attack Mike.

At the supermarket:

Annabelle has just finished her shopping and is on the way out with the cart when one lone vampire intercepts her at the door.

"Ha!  I knew some human might come in here scavenging for food!  This is my lucky day!"  he said, is he moved towards Annabelle, aiming to drink her blood.

At The Fish Tank:

Buffybot is alone  at The Fish Tank when she hears the sound of the front door lock breaking and one lone vamp (not a vamp cop, I said they wouldn't find you soon) wanders in.  "Maybe they left some booze behind, there's a shortage of fresh blood lately."he said  talking to himself until he noticed he was not alone.

"Spoke to soon! Fresh blood after all!  Come here!  Scream if you like!" he said moving towards Buffybot.

OCC: To the combat thread, three different fights going on.  Each of you is fighting one vamp.  All vamps are "regular" vamps, no vamp cops or Turok-Hans.

Annabelle almost smiled.  Almost.  Poor undead fool.  He thought he would have an easy victim, but instead he just met the Slayer. What a golden opportunity to test her new power.

Annabelle charged towards the vampire aiming a punch followed by a kick at the undead creature and missed him entirely.  The vamp retaliated with a kick to Annabelle's head that missed as well.

"Not bad girl.  I figured you would start screaming.  I like a challenge." said the vampire.

Between the blood bank and The Fish Tank

08:26, Today: Michael Smith rolled 23 using 1d10+13. Defense sequence.

08:26, Today: Michael Smith rolled 13 using 1d10+12. Those kicks were fast as lightning.

Mike decided to test his opponent's skill. Even though he possessed a virtually unbreakable guard, his kick is mostly a testing move, to see if his opponent is remotely competent or not. One never knew with vampires, as age was ultimately what mattered most.

"Get your own. Besides, I thought you'd prefer it fresh."

WHAM WHAM! Both of Mike's kicks connected with his enemy's midsection. The other vampire had left himself totally open to attack for that move.  The vampire then lunged a punch at Mike who easily dodged it.

"Hey!  I recognized you!  You're Michael Smith!  The guy that goes around grabbing other vamps and tossing them around!  You're not supposed to kick people!  I didn't see that coming! Stick to your routine man!

"So you want a challenge do you?!  You'll soon have more of a challenge than you've ever imagined, because now you face the Slayer!" Annabelle said as she nailed a sweep kick on the vamp, taking him off his feet, then she nailed him with a punch to his face.

Between the blood bank and The Fish Tank:

Mike chuckled.

"Unfortunately for you, I feel creative tonight."

He launched a sweep kick that sent his opponent to the ground, and then used a circle kick as more of an axe kick to kick him in the head once downed. WHAM!

Seeing no need to prolong things, Annabelle aimed her stake at the heart of downed vamp and thrust it downward.

"I'll just bet you've thought twice about wanting a challenge you poor fool!"

It wasn't Annabelle's best stake attempt ever, but it was enough to do the job as her stake plunged into the undead's heart and he exploded to dust, leaving her free to leave with her food supply.

At the Fish Tank

Buffybot picked up immediately on the lone vamp. She shook her head. "Oooh big teeth I'm scared.....NOT!" She says mockingly. "No booze I checked on that. The cheap skate of an owner saw to that. But I can use some practice. I gotta fix that door."She engages the punk vamp succeeds in punching him twice.  WHAM!  WHAM!  And then she evades his attempt to punch her.  Buffy is flawless at the moment.

Between The Fish Tank and the blood bank.

"Master Norris taught me many things. First, when doing a pushup, do not push yourself up, push the earth down. Second, run so fast you can run around the entire planet and punch yourself in the back of the head. Third...if you aren't seen, then others are seconds away from death. If you are seen, it is already too late."

And then he pulled out a stake and drove it through the poor vamp's heart.

"Wait!  You really know Chuck Norris?!  Can you get me his auto...........aaarrggghhh!!!"

The vamp never finishes his sentence as he explodes into dust leaving Mike alone and still in possession of his blood supply.

"Yadda, yadda, yadda....First you trash the door and you pretend to talk tough. Oh pleeeease. You're the one that's gonna get it."Buffybot continues the slugfest but fails to land a blow, this vamp's more skilled than the "average" bloodsucker.

"No!  You're gonna get it!" The vampire rushes forward, grappling Buffy by the neck and then sinks his teeth into her."  But the fangs don't go very deep.

"Arrrgggghhhhh!!!!! My teeth!!!" the vampire shouts in pain as he quickly releases the hold and watches as a couple of sparks fly from Buffy's neck.

"What are you?!" screams the bloodsucker.

Back entrance to The Fish Tank

Mike approaches the back entrance to The Fish Tank carrying his blood packs as he sees Annabelle just a few yards behind him pushing her shopping cart. Both are just about to reach the back entrance when something springs out, blocking the door.

A Turok-Han.  Just one this time, but boy does he look ferocious.

OCC:  Back to the combat thread for everybody.  Annabelle and Mike have one Turok-Han to deal with out back, Buffybot still has a vampire to deal with inside.  Buffybot takes 4 points of damage from the bite attack.  Bite damage against robots isn't covered in the rule book, so I'm doing it as "bite damage divided by 5".  She has no blood to suck, but still takes some damage from the teeth puncture wound.

"Does it even matter...You trashed the door. Ok Fang face take your punishment!" Buffybot continues to swing that this inconvenient runt and misses as the vampire lands a punch in her mid-section.

"No, you take your punishment!  Ha!  I've got plenty more with your name on it!"

Out back at The Fish Tank

"Get away from here you mindless beast!  You're not coming in!  The stench inside is dreadful enough already without you exacerbating it!" she shouted at the ubervamp while launching a punch followed by a kick at him that missed by a mile.

Mike was thrown off a little by presence of a Turok Han, and while he lept to Annabelle's aid, he did not do so gracefully. He tried a sweep, followed by an axe kick, but it was pretty sloppy.

The Turok-Han was unscathed as he launched a high kick at Mike's jaw with his right leg, and then
nailed Annabelle in the stomach with his left leg.

The Turok-Han smiled in satisfaction through his fangs.  If Turok-Hans could talk, this one would be saying "Now that's how you do a kick losers!" just about right now.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  An excellent round.  For the bad guys! Mike takes 19 points of damage, Annabelle takes 23 points, and Buffybot takes 18 points.

Out back:

...If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Mike grabbed this Turok Han, and threw him high in the sky. His guard was much better now.

"Back to basics. Annabelle, finish him!"

The primitive vampire went straight up and  then crashed back down to the ground on his back.

"Consider him finished Michael!" Annabelle shouted, drawing her stake and aiming for the heart of the now downed vampire.  But this Turok-Han was fast, even while on the ground.

He rolled out of the way of Annabelle's stake attempt and then with a flip-snap was back on his feet, ready for action again.

Inside The Fish Tank

Buffybot had nothing else to say. The damage this clown of a punk vamp meant nothing....yet. It was a stalemate in the last exchange she is determined to change that. Her fists connected with the vampire, but he can give as good as he gets. He then reached forward, grabbing her around the neck once more, but this time he didn't bite.

He twisted her neck with all his might then let go, expecting to hear a snapping sound then watch his foe fall to the ground.  Buffybot remained standing, but that hurt!

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  27 points of damage to Buffybot.  The Turok-Han Mike and Annabelle are fighting is not dusted and back on his feet.

Out behind The Fish Tank

Mike wasn't quite as perfect this time, but even in his lesser showings, he was still quite competent with his favorite trick.

"Annabelle? The stake goes in the vampire, not in the ground. Have to send you to remedial Slayer school."

But this Turok-Han was no slouch as he evaded Mike's grasp, but failed to land a punch to Mike's mid-section.

"Well that went swimmingly." Annabelle said dryly as she missed a punch at primitive vampire followed by a spin kick so pathetic, the Turok didn't even need to try to dodge.

Re: Episode 2-5

Out behind The Fish Tank:

Mike apparently needed to go to remedial grab and toss school, because this grab wasn't any better then the last as the Turok dodged his grasp again.

His defense is still pretty airtight as the Turok failed to land a kick on him. Mike wasn't risking himself.

Annabelle was less than pleased at Michael's critique of her staking form.

"Thank you for the advice Michael.  Now then, may I suggest you attend remedial grappling school because your current form is absolutely dreadful.  A geriatric octopus could do better." she said as she attempted and missed a judo throw to take the Turok-Han to the pavement.

But the Turok's failed attempt on Mike killed his momentum to attack her, ubervamp was unscathed this time, but so were they.

In the Fish Tank:

Had this guy had training it would've been a much closer fight. At least this guy can do some damage just the same.....Buffybot smiles in hope that she still end the fight soon as both of her punches nail the vampire in the face.

But he's still got some fight left in him as he launches an impressive spin kick that crashes into Buffy's mid-section.

He isn't even pleased with his own performance, only marginally better now. The Turok once again manages to evade his attack.

Annabelle was now frustrated beyond belief.  This prehistoric monstrosity just wouldn't dust and Michael's usually effective grappling and tossing skills apparently decided to break for tea.

Taking aim with her stake, she summoned all her newly anointed Slayer power and drove it towards the Turok's heart.

"Die you monster!! DIE!!!!"

Thok!  Annabelle's stake nailed him right in the heart as the prehistoric vampire burst in to dust leaving Annabelle and Mike alone behind The Fish Tank. No other Turoks appeared, this one was apparently traveling alone.

Inside The Fish Tank:

Buffybot shook her head in an attempt to make what others would say a low percentage move. That or her luck hasn't turned yet.  The vampire ducked out of the way, but failed to score a hit on her.  Another stalemate.

Her leap was breathtaking, her kick not so much as the vampire managed to dodge out of the way.

I got bored. Decided to change it up. Probably because the first vamp I killed talked about Chuck Norris. Decided to show him what 'Master Norris had taught me'"

Even though the truth is that Mike's fighting is more a matter of speed and strength then skill.

Re: Episode 2-5

Annabelle finds a working (and surprisingly clean) refrigerator room  in the back of The Fish Tank with plenty of room to store her food and Mike's blood supply.

A door in the back of the refrigerator leads to a freezer to keep any frozen foods.

Re: Episode 2-5

"Well now isn't this a peachy surprise." Annabelle said as she began to unload all her frozen and refrigerated foods.

"Michael, get back here!   There's a working refrigerator for you to keep your blood packs fresh!" she shouts out to the other room.

Re: Episode 2-5

Mike quickly makes use of it to stock his supply of blood. Now if he gets a case of the munchies, Annabelle is no particular danger.

Re: Episode 2-5

Moments later after the refrigerator was stocked with food and blood, Annabelle turned her attention to the next order of business.

"I think we could all use some rest and recuperation for a few hours.  And honestly I'm anxious to see if my Slayer healing works like it should.  But first we need to barricade the front and back doors, lest any other vampires looking for alcohol wander in.

Re: Episode 2-5

A few minutes later, both front and back entrances have been secured.

Annabelle and Mike take the two cots in the back of The Fish Tank while Buffy shuts herself down as our heroes try to grab some much needed rest.
