Episode 2-6

Midnight     Sunnydale   The Fish Tank

All has been quiet here for the last several hours as three fugitives from what is now the law in Sunnydale catch up on some much needed rest.  Annabelle Berkshire and Michael Smith sleep in the back room of the Fish Tank, each occupying  a cot.  Annabelle fell asleep quite easily.  Mike, less so since Annabelle is not a sound sleeper.  Her snoring could wake the dead, or in this case keep the undead awake with his extra sensitive hearing.  But after a half hour, Mike managed to tune out the noise and fall asleep.

Up front, the robot double of the late Buffy Summers sits, dead to the world except the humming of her self repair circuits doing their work.

Main road leading into Sunnydale

All is quiet here.  But not for long as an exiled watcher is about to enter the Hellmouth.

OCC: And we're off.  Post at will.

Re: Episode 2-6

At 12:04 am, Annabelle rolled out of her cot and tiptoed into the next room (so as not to disturb Michael who was still sleeping).  She now felt wide awake.  Maybe it was because she was now the Slayer and her body was primed for night activity.  Or maybe because it was 8 am London time.  Perhaps a little of both.

She moved towards the bathroom, then; Oh yes, we don't have a proper bathroom here.  And I'm not sure I'd want to take one if there was.  If the water in this place is as filthy as the rest of it, I'd fall over and die right quickly. she thought.

She looked around the bar area and found a remote control, then aimed it in the direction of the very old and frail television mounted on the wall and was pleasantly surprised when the picture came on in color.  Now if she could just find something to watch.

Re: Episode 2-6

The rumble of a motorbike engine echoes off the buildings of Sunnydale as the last Watcher rides in. His eyes are alert for danger, for he knows what he is riding into. This is the Hellmouth and it's energies draw all kinds of foulness to it.

He slows down, passing down the deserted street at barely more than a walking pace. Most would take him for nothing more than a regular Joe, in spite of the late hour, never noticing the strung mongolian recurve mounted down the side of the bike. It is in easy reach for him, as are his arrows, should he have need.

"I don't suppose you can get EastEnders on this side of the water?"
Annabelle said as she got up from the bar and walked towards the front windows of The Fish Tank, currently covered by blinds.

Halfway across the room she turned back to Michael; "And I do NOT snore loudly.  Your vampire hearing is enhancing the effect.  If you had normal hearing, you wouldn't even know I was in the room."

Annabelle continued across the bar floor, and used her finger to lift up a single blind and squinted her eyes as she peaked outside to see if anyone or anything was on the streets.

Before Annabelle can make a suitable reply, she hears a low humming coming from outside.  It gets louder until she finally sees a man coming down the street and towards The Fish Tank on a motorcycle.  He appears to be human, ruling out the threat of a demon biker.

He's traveling slowly, his bike reaches the front of the Fish Tank, then passes by and keeps on going.

Hearing the voice behind him Aaron rolls to a halt, not too far away. He looks back to see the young woman racing out of one of the buildings he had assumed were abandoned. He reaches carefully down for his bow, which is on the far side of the bike to the girl. She didn't look particularly dangerous, but he knew better than to judge a book by it's cover.

"You're not from around these parts. Hampshire?" He asks trying to place her accent. "Anyway, if I shouldn't be out here alone, you certainly shouldn't. You don't know who might be out on a night like this." Or what. He finishes silently to himself.

Aaron keeps his eyes locked on the vampire. He knows that some good vampires existed, but they are a particularly rare breed and it would not do to take chances. Once he has his bow in hand he feels better prepared. Vampires are fast, but few can dodge a well aimed arrow shaft at such close range.

There's some Turok Han in here, but we've killed off most of them, and only a few are left. Somebody in charge with a HECK of a lot of magic cast that barrier you saw on the way in. Aaron's left eyebrow raises. A vampire with a soul, interesting. He still didn't release his hold on his bow, however. A soul does not make one a good person. Humans are all too much proof of that.

"Magic of the level you're describing is far beyond what most are capable of working in these times. But what brings you here? I assume you weren't simply 'living' here when the barrier was raised." Aaron says this with a completely straight face, tone giving no hint as to the pun he just uttered.

"I'm from London sir.  I'm Annabelle Berkshire, that's Michael Smith and I suggest we get indoors before a vampire or demon spots us. she says pointing to entrance to The Fish Tank.

"I'll vouch for Michael.  He's not like other vampires.  He has a soul.  And overly sensitive hearing for a vampire as well.  He can even hear normal human breathing during sleep from across a room. she says ever so quickly glancing in Michael's direction before turning back to the Fish Tank entrance.

"Come this way sir.  Your motorbike can fit through the entrance.  Once we're safely indoors, we'll bring you up to speed on everything going on."

She then lifts a table with one hand, deftly balancing it in the air without breaking a sweat before sitting it down.

"I hope that will suffice in proving my station.  So Aaron, are you a scholar of the occult?   I had first thought you might be a watcher, but that's clearly not the case. A watcher would surely be consulting their books by now and I see you didn't even bring any.

His brows furrow in interest at Micheal's interjection. "Really? I have never heard of that, the Watcher's Diaries never mention anything about it at least. Although I doubt many ever had much chance to sit and converse with a vampire as we are."

"Well Aaron, I'm what you call a Slayer in Training or Potential Slayer. I was identified as a potential Slayer by the Watcher's Council several years ago and was assigned a Watcher to train me for the day I might be called as the Slayer.  Which I now have.  As I'm sure you're aware, often when a Slayer is called she has no idea that vampires are real or what a Slayer is and spends a lot of whining about the whole thing and in denial about it until her traning can finally begin.  But in my case, we were able to bypass all that pesky nonsense and get right down to business.

If a girl is aware of the dangers of the supernatural before she is chosen then it makes things substantially easier for both her and her Watcher. But as you say. You already know most of this, so we can skip straight onto finding out who, why and how Sunnydale has been cut off."

Aaron then starts to ask questions, one after the other, with barely a pause. Probing for information. "The barrier seems to stop humans and vampires. Does it stop other creature too? Re: Episode 2-6

The group conversation is interrupted by the sound of a police crusier siren.

You all rush to the front window of The Fish Tank and crack a window blind for a look.

One Turok-Han is running down the street towards The Fish Tank........and runs right past it.  He is  quickly followed by a single police cruiser, sirens blaring that drives down the street past The Fish Tank and after the Turok-Han.

WHAM! The cruiser collides with the ubervamp knocking him to the ground.  Two vamp cops get out (no doubt since they have their vamp faces on).  Both are carrying familiar looking taser rifles that you all saw at the Initiative base. One cops blasts the Turok as he gets up. It slows him down, but he keeps coming.  Second blast: ZAP!  That did it.  The Turok is on the street, unconcious.

The two vamp cops approach the Turok, and slap the cuffs on him (that's right they slapped the cuffs on a Turok-Han) and pick up his unconcious body and load him in the trunk of the cruiser before getting back in the front seat and driving off.

The cops were talking as they "arrested" the Turok.  You may or may not have picked up some of the conversation.

OCC: Anyone who wants to know what the vamp cops might have said, make a perception plus notice roll so see if you picked any of it up. Mike would get a +2 to the roll with his vamp hearing.

Then the front door opens and two cops walk out.  They get into one of the cruisers and drive off, now only two police cars in the front parking lot.

Even though they are being careful to avoid attention Aaron carries his bow with arrow nocked and ready to shoot. That there are only 2 police cruisers left at the station bodes well for their chances. "Ok, so our first priority is the supplies. Other than that I think we should keep an eye out for information on what is happening here. We could also consider sabotaging those vehicles, so they have less mobility and flexibility." Aaron just reminds them, as it is best for everyone to know what the objective is. "Anyone see a good way in? The front door seems like a bad choice."

As the foursome approach, you see no side entrance to the station.

The only two ways in are to go through the front entrance, or circle around the back to check for another entrance there.

The two police vehicles are unlocked and easily accessible.

Pulling himself out from under the first cruiser he quickly moves over to repeat the process on the second. "Ok. That's all I can do from here. The four inch their way down the hallway with Michael in the lead.  No traps of any kind set off so far.

Then as you approach a corner, you stop at the sound of a noise.  You realize it's coming from a TV from somewhere around the corner and down another hall.  You hear some laughing and talking.  At least two presumably vampire cops (maybe more) are watching TV in a room down the hall, maybe a lounge or someone's office.

You also notice a sign on the wall with an arrow pointing straight ahead marked
"propery room".

OCC: Time to choose what way each character wants to go.  You can proceed to the property room where your supplies are likely stored with no problem.  No roll necessary if you do this. Or you can creep closer to the sounds coming from down the hall.  If you do that, you need to make a dexterity plus acrobatics or crime roll to sneak closer without being detected.

Aaron finds no sign-in book for the property room. Perhaps it's in the room with the cops watching TV. Or misplaced.  If the watcher was a Sunnydale native, he would know the Sunnydale PD aren't known for their efficiency and intelligence.

Just then you hear two different voices getting closer.  They are coming from the opposite side you entered, meaning two or more cops likely came in through the front entrance.

Then you hear one voice say:

"Hey, lights are on in the property room. "

Then two cops (regular cops, not swat team) appear in the doorway.

"Ha!  We've been looking all over town for them and they've been right here!  You're all under arrest!"

Oh crumbs!  Atrocious timing. Need to finish these two before the others are alerted. Annabelle thought as rushed across the room to the closest vamp cop.

She nailed a high kick at his jaw, then thrust her stake into his heart.

Thok!  Foom!  He explodes to dust.

Mike, in a daring, risky move to prevent the alarm from being raised, went straight for the stake. Ignoring defensive needs, he launched at the first with his stake and great strength, and poked him till he poofed...

Thok!  Foom!  One thrust was enough to do it as he exploded to dust.

"Arrest?! Youre the one that's going to be taking a rest! So as the lady said you aren't leaving!"Buffybot attempts to get to the second vamp cop but, he's dust by the times he gets there.

At the sound of the police behind him Aaron brings his bow arouond in a fluid, practiced motion. He takes a heartbeat to aim at the closest vampire before loosing the shot, trying to avoid his allies in the press.  The arrow sailed perfectly, but passed through a cloud of dust, as the vamp was already slain by the time it got there, and hit the opposite wall.

No loud noise from the other side of the station, you've finished these two without alerting the others.

OCC: Back to the main thread.  Couple of good stake rolls by Annabelle and Mike, and that's a quick fight.

The "borrowed" police cruiser heads out on the main road. As you look back to the front entrance of the station you see one...two...three...four..a total of five cops burst out.

Two head for one of the remaining cruisers, while the other three pile in the other.  Within seconds both police cars are in pursuit of the heroes.

All three cars are on a straight stretch of road at the moment, so the other two cars won't notice (or be in danger from) their lack of brakes yet.

OCC: Two vamp cop cars in pursuit.  Annabelle needs to make a dexterity -2 roll driving roll.   Aaron can shoot arrows at them, but with a -2 penalty due to being in a fast moving car with an inexperienced driver.  If he wants to aim for a tire that will be -4 altogether since it's a smaller object he's aiming for.  But one success level will be a hit. Somebody grabbing his legs so he doesn't fall out would be a good idea. If anyone else wants to attack, you now have some nice heavy occult books to throw at them.
