Episode 2-10

Moments later, everyone heads back inside through the back entrance of The Fish Tank, carrying whatever weapons they wished to grab from the SWAT van.

You make it to the main room when you realize you're not alone.  Three Turok-Hans are there, having wandered in during your absence.  They were no doubt attracted by the lingering scent of human blood in the room and now they've found some fresh nourishment.

The three Turoks rush forward.  One goes for Aaron, one for Lance, and one for Annabelle.  After all, those three are the blood sources.

OCC: And we now begin this episode by going to the combat thread, three Turoks to dispose of, good guys have initiative.

Episode 2-10

Upon entering the Fish Tank Lance sees the Turok coming. "Who are you a Max Schreck look a like?" he points the new toy he took from the van and charged it. "Lets try this again!" Lance sneers and fires the taser rifle at the charging creature.

ZAP!  The Turok shakes violently, but doesn't go down from the blast as he tries to stagger towards Lance.

"Not again." Aaron quickly draws a bead on one of the Turok Han, before loosing two deadly shots at it. His shots take precious moments to aim however, so he has to trust to his companions to cover him. "This bar is quickly becoming a veritable hotspot of paranormal activity."

"Hear, hear!" Annabelle says in response to the watcher, she'd had her fill of vampires of any kind for today.

She raises her newly acquired baton, hitting the Turok coming at her.  He swings his clawed hand at her and misses as the Slyer then reaches over and grabs the Turok going after Aaron, hoping to buy him time to get a clear arrow shot.

THOK! THOK!  The plan works as both of the watcher's arrows plunge into the ubervamp's heart.

He's still solid...............but, wait.........FOOM! He's dust.

Mike wanted to take a moment to feel out how strong these particular Turok Han were, and ended up taking a strong defensive posture. Wasn't a great posture for grabbing, but if his enemy was distracted, it might work anyway. He'd grab Lance's target, (which wouldn't be too hard if the tase worked...) and throw him at Annabelle's. While Lance's taser attack didn't down the vamp, it slowed him enough to make him an easy target for Mike's grab as he sent the Turok sailing into the first one Annabelle engaged.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  Two Turoks still solid, both on the floor at the moment, good guys have initiative.

Episode 2-10

Mike, of course, came in from outside...and HE had stakes.

And proceeded to use it, launching an all out offensive at the downed Turok Han's heart.

But the primitive vamp spoiled his plans miraculously rolling out of the way of his stake attempts with blinding speed.

Annabelle moved in on the now downed Turok that she had just clubbed and launched two consecutive kicks at him. WHAM! WHAM!  "Will somebody with a proper vamp slaying weapon be a dear and finish him off now."

"yeah it's not our fault that these guys crashed the party." Buffy says as she moves in to assist Mike regretting the failure of fashioning that baton into a stake, but also misses as the Turok avoids her attack too.

Aaron holds back as the others move in for the kill. Arrow nocked he is ready to react should something unexpected happen.

And it did as the seemingly defeated Turoks both snapped back to their feet.  The one nearest to Mike landed a perfect kick to Mike's jaw (an easy hit since Mike left himself open to attack).  The Turok now seemed to be snickering at Mike.  If he could talk he probably would be saying "HA! Thought I was done didn't you?!  Joke's on you punk!"

The second one launched a kick at Annabelle, but the Slayer was prepared for a possible attack and avoided the deadly foot.

OCC: Two Turoks now back on their feet and ready to fight.  Mike takes 15 points of damage. Good guys have initiative.

Episode 2-10

Mike...smirked.

"Yes, I should watch that overconfidence. Well then. Let's go." he said as he grabbed the Turok and tossed him across the floor.

"Oh  crumbs."  Annabelle said as both Turoks got back to their feet.

She aimed her baton at the one she just kicked and missed, but the Turok missed as well as the Slayer dodged his punch.

"I just wish we can just finish 'em!" Buffybot went to once again to assist Annabelle in the double team as she successfully bashed her baton against the Turok's head.

Lance was surprised that the taser shot worked, somewhat. He was not so surprised when they kept coming. "Well let's see if you like taking the juice a second time." He fires again at the same Turok as before who is now an easier target lying on the floor.  SSHHRRAKK!!  The monster growls in pain for  second, before it's head it's the floor.  That blast did it.

Dammit Aaron thinks as he takes careful aim at the closest of the two Turoks. I'm going to run our of arrows if we keep going at this rate. He threads a pair of shots through the weaving melee before him, staying far enough back to not be an immediate target for one of the super-vamps. He knows the limitations that being merely human place upon him against such adversaries.

THOK!  THOK!  Once again the watcher has a flawless eye as both arrows hit the heart of the Turok still standing.

FOOM! He explodes to dust.  Only one left now.

OCC: One Turok left, unconcious on the floor.  Somebody better finish him off before he gets up again.

Again Mike went all out. Not his best performance...but enough to do the job as his stake plunges into the heart of the unconcious Turok and the primitive vamp explodes to dust.

All is now quiet in The Fish Tank as only the five heroes remain.

OCC: All Turoks dusted.  This fights's over.

"When we came in, we all had handcuffs on.  The mayor caused them to unlock and fall to the floor from across the room.  He's either a warlock or somehow possess the power of telekinesis" Annabelle says as she walks around to the other side of the bar and sits down.

"I don't think the other vampires were under his control.  There seemed to be some sort of friendship between the mayor and the police chief.  And those four SWAT vampire henchman were not to be trifled with.  If not for the firm hand of the mayor and the chief, the four of them would have likely battled to the dust to see which one was vampire king of Sunnydale.  Or if reason prevailed, divided Sunnydale up in four equal sections with each one claiming a territory like feudal warlords."

Episode 2-10

After the excitement of the day Lance desperately wanted, no NEEDED a cigarette.  He went over to his small stash of belongings he had left there earlier and found a pack of reds and headed to the door.  As he was about to walk out he stopped and picked up the taser and slung it over his shoulder. "Smoke'em if you got 'em" he smirked as he headed on out.  Once he got outside the door he cased the area and lit a smoke.  He leaned back against the wall by the door jam not daring to venture away from the rest of the group. He reflected on what Annabelle said about the mayor.  "Got to get me some answers." he thought to himself as he puffed away.

Annabelle sighed loudly.  "I knew that line sounded familiar.  When he unlocked our handcuffs he said 'you'll no longer need those'.  And with his hypnosis powers, he could turn us to the dark side in a manner of speaking."

She turned to the watcher.  "Aaron, correct me if I'm wrong but there are three levels of vampire hypnosis power, correct?  The weakest is making some one freeze for a few seconds making them an easy target for attack.  The next level lets one cast illusions.  And the strongest is the power to control another's mind.  Well, the mayor tried to control Lance, and it took all of Lance's will to resist. He or anyone else the mayor tries it on may not be so lucky the next time."

Episode 2-10

"Well there are more nuances to the ability than that. But in essence you are right. If the mayor has such a power then it is possible that he is holding some of the vampires under his thrall. There might be a way for us to disrupt that. It won't remove the vampires as a threat, but it will make them less centralised. And if what you say is true then they may end up fighting amongst themselves as much as against us." Aaron thought on the subject for a few moments, it would probably be worth researching if such a thing is possible.

"Also if the mayor is as powerful as you seem to think then their must be some mention of him somewhere. People like him don't simply pop into existence they have to make waves to accrue such power. We might be able to find out more about him and what he plans. And I don't know if any of you have tried. But is it possible to communicate with those beyond the barrier through technology? I know physically passing through it is not possible, but what about using the telephone or sending an email. If we can then it might be possible that we can contact someone with grater occult resources than ourselves. Or at the very least run a search using the internet, which I understand has as many gatherings of occultists as the real world." Thinking it through, being able to access the outside world through the technology could be an invaluable tool in tackling their problems here in Sunnydale. And it was possible that the mayor had overlooked the modern communications network, those immersed in the study of the occult and ancient magics often did.

"Bad news Bubba, the sun is out again.  The weather control spell of yours must have flaked out." says the chief.

"Yes, I noticed the sun peaking thourgh the blinds.  No magic spell is 100% reliable.  No biggie, not a big thing at all.  The do-gooders have just been granted a rest period.  Are all your officers safely inside?" replied the mayor.

"Yeah, and I've got some good news. A couple of the boys found four runaway teenagers entering Sunnydale before the sun cam out again.  We brought you one."

Two cops bring in a teenage boy.  "Thanks chief, you've made my day."

The mayor walk over to the boy and morphs into vamp face.  The kid has no time to scream as the mayor sinks his teeth into the boy's neck and drains him dry very quickly.

OCC: Yes, the mayor's a vamp.  Should have made that clear in ep 9, meant to have him appear in vamp face to confirm it, but I goofed.  Thanks to Mike for bringing it up.

We need to take advantage of this and move quickly.  We need to pick up where we left off, and obtain enough food for three people.  It's unlikely the vampires had time to get back to the market place for another ambush, if they even intend to try that.  Then we need to get to a sporting goods store and get some cots so we all have some place to sleep."

A moment later, they are inside the store.  There are the sleeping costs they need along with bows and arrows, crossbows, pistol crossbows, and plenty of knives of various sizes (no swords or axes, anything from pocket knife to big knife size).  There is also lighters, matches, and lighter fluid if anyone is planning on starting a fire.

There was no telling who would awaken next if she were to die. The chances would be that they would be in no position to help here in Sunnydale and being here without a Slayer would make the whole situation much worse. Episode 2-10

Half an hour later, the group is now at the area Mike described, having stopped off to get the necessary tarp supplies.

The section in question is an underground tunnel that leads up above ground, the walls of the tunnel are still there, but no roof of any kind. There's a ladder on the wall enabling anyone to enter and exit the roofless tunnel.  Now the tarps have been thrown in place (and have been connected together so one so one good pull is all that's needed) , ready to be removed when the trap is sprung.

Mike is currently at the safe edge of the tunnel where the roof is about to end.  This is the route the vamp cops will take to get to the trap zone.  There's a another tunnel that veers off to the right before the roof ends, where Mike can hide when the vamp cops will walk past him and into the trap.

OCC: Trap is ready. Time for Buffy to make the fake distress call.  I hope I've explained the layout of the area well enough.  The vamps cops will come up through the tunnel and out into the trap area, once the tarps are off, sunlight hits them.  Mike will have a hiding spot in an adjacent tunnel, the vamp cops will walk right past him if he doesn't draw attention to himself.  Then if any of them try to run back into the safety of the roofed area of the tunnel when the sun hits, Mike will be there to intercept them.  Annabelle, Aaron, and Lance can be in position anywhere they like, but at least one has to be up top to pull the tarps off.

Re: Episode 2-10

The tarps come off, the sun shines down.

The vamp cops look up.  The lead SWAT vamp shouts "It's a trap!".  Ten vampires burst into flame.

Six of them scream and drop to their knees burning.

Two of them (one SWAT vamp, one beat cop) run towards Mike and Annabelle, trying to reach the safety of the covered tunnel.

Two of them (also one SWAT vamp and one beat cop) run the opposite direction down the still exposed roofless section.  But if they make it to the end, it drops off into water and safety.

OCC: Combat thread time.  Two vamps coming at Annabelle and Mike towards the covered tunnel area, two more running the opposite way.  You have two rounds to stop the two running the opposite way, otherwise they reach the end and drop off into the lake below, thus putting out the fire and allowing them to escape.  Remember vamps don't breathe, so they don't have to come up for air.

Re: Episode 2-10

Mike presented a wall. All he had to do was keep the enemy from getting by him. Obviously, he couldn't chase the fleeing pair, for the weakness he was exploiting affects him too.

The burning SWAT vamp unleashed a punch followed by a kick, that Mike deftly avoided and prevented the vampire from making it to the safety of the shade.

"I'll put you out of your misery." said Annabelle as she raised her crossbow and fired at the flaming beat cop vamp, aiming for his heart. But the vamp cop had other ideas as he just barely dodged the crossbow bolt and rushed forward to the Slayer and then did a nifty Michael Smith impression as he grabbed her by the arm and hurled her out to the ground in the opposite direction.  Annabelle now lay out on the tunnel floor underneath the sun, but luckily didn't land on a burning vamp.

Now in the safetly of the shade, the vamp cop stopped burning, then looked over to the downed Annabelle, apparently having no interest in attacking Mike to help out the SWAT vamp trying to get through.  "Come on girl.  Show me what you got.  Slayer? Ha!"

Lance finished springing the trap with Aaron and raised his taser to try and hit one of the fleeing vamps.  ZAP!  The taser strikes the fleeing beat cop vamp who hits the ground in an impressive display of electricty and severe sunburn at the same time.  He lay there nearly unconcious while slightly convusling and still burning under the rays of the sun.

"Of course it's a trap. Anyway you're not reporting anything. We can't have you 'hiding' as the law and killing off innocents. Since youre keen on running. I'm keen on dusting!" Buffybot goes after the pair runing the other way making. "Now fight like the fake cops that you are!"

Her stake plunges into the back of the fleeing SWAT vamp, an impressive hit except his SWAT armor protected him enough to keep him from dusting.  He kept on running, paying no attention to Buffy as he tried to get closer to the end and reach the water.

The other six vamps continue to scream as they lay there burning in the sun.

OCC: Annabelle takes nine points of damage and is currently on the ground. Three vamps are currenlty an active threat, the burning one trying to get past Mike, the one engaging Annabelle who is in the safety of the shade, and the SWAT vamp still running to towards end of the tunnel and so he can jump in the water.  He now has a lead so if Buffy wants to attack him up close she has to make a dexterity doubled roll first to see if she can catch him, unless she wants to do a thrown stake to the heart attack. Lance's taser won't affect him since he has SWAT armor.

Re: Episode 2-10

Mike stuck to the plan...at least his plan. No matter how the SWAT vamp tried to get around him, he was going to meet with miserable failure. The SWAT vamp once again tried to hit Mike, but was nowhere close, he'd have better luck trying to break through a force field.

"Let's try that again." Annabelle said as she tried to snap back to her feet and impressive fashion, yet could tell half way through she would fail and land on her bum.

"Oh crumbs!  Really?!"she shouted as she prepared to withstand the cop's attack from her downed postion.

"Crap!" Aaron is slow to react to the vampires when the tarp is pulled back. He reaches for his bow and fumbles through the folds of tarpaulin to grab it. He pulls it out and quickly releases two shots at the heart of the running swat officer, not even taking a moment to aim properly.

THOK!  The SWAT vamp didn't dust as the first arrow penetrated his heart.  THOK!  FOOM!  The second shot did the job as the SWAT vamp exploded to dust.

Lance saw that his first shot did have somewhat of an effect on the fleeing vamp.  He also noticed Annabelle appearing to be in trouble.  He aimed at the vamp about to attack her and lets the taser rip. "Back off there vampy!"  SSHHRRRAAKK!!! Lance bullseyed the vamp in the chest, preventing him from going after the downed Annabelle. He fell over flat on his face, but still in the shade as he lay there convulsing from the blast.

Seven vamps continued to burn in the sun.  But one of the beat cops managed to stand on his feet despite the pain.  While still burning, he drew his pistol and aimed it where Lance and Aaron were standing.  "I'm taking one of you to hell with me!" he shouted.

OCC: Back to the combat thread. Six vamps on the ground burning in the sun and screaming.  One beat cop vamp on his feet, burning in the sun, but pointing his pistol at Lance and Aaron. One burning SWAT vamp still trying to get past Mike, one downed from Lance's taser blast, but in the shade of the tunnel.

"One more time." Annabelle says as she snaps back to her feet from her downed position.

She instantly spots the burning vamp cop going for his pistol and pointing it up at Lance and Aaron and rushes towards him from behind, with her stake raised and prepared to plunge it into his heart. But the vamp spotted her from the corner of his eye and barely dodged her stake thrust as he pointing his pistol upwards towards Aaron and Lance.

Mike continues doing his best offensive lineman impression. Or...

With a smirk, he said, "You shall not pass!"

And he makes good on his word as the burning SWAT vamp can't lay a finger on him.

He sees the vampire and the pistol. Knowing that he has no chance to shoot before the vampire he instead attempts to dive to the side, away from Lance and out of the line of fire.

Lance saw the vamp pointing a gun his way at the last second. "Argghhh" he rolled to the side away from Aaron trying to dodge the bullets.

The vamp cops wavered the pistol back and forth for a second, then decided on the watcher as his target.  BLAM!  But it was a miss and his last shot as he turned to ash under the sun's rays.

As did the three other beat cop vamps.  Three SWAT vamps were still on the ground and burning under the sun. No, make that two vamp cops on the ground and burning in the sun.

One managed to get to his feet and advanced towards Annabelle.

The other remaining SWAT vamp was still trying to get past Mike.

One beat cop remained, the only one in the shade as he lay on the ground, stunned from Lance's taser blast.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  Five vamps remain.

"Perhaps Michael has the right idea." Annabelle said as she focused on not getting hit by the burning vamp. The sun had to finish him off soon.

And it did as this vamp failed to kick Annabelle, then turned ash. As did the remaining vamps burning in the sun.

Just one vamp cop left, the beat cop who made it to the shade who is now lying on the ground from Lance's taser blast.

Of course she was pissed off on being sent on the wild goose chase. But with one vamp left she grins. "Look at it this way vampy. No paperwork because it never happened. Save time." A very UNHAPPY Buffybot attempts to put him away.

Aaron picks himself up of the ground, rubbing his left arm as he does so. Seeing Buffybot about to dispatch the incapacitated vampire he moves to recollect his weapons. Having done so he surveys the site of their encounter nodding to himself, this had proven quite effective. Though they wouldn't be able to do this again as the police would be better prepared next time.

Mike gestured to Annabel.

"Feel free."

Annabelle stepped forward, stake in hand, to finish off the last vamp. But the robot was closer and already on it.  "It appears to be covered." she said to Michael before looking upwards to Aaron and Lance.

"Are you two alright up there?"

Buffybot's stake plunges into the heart of the prone vamp who quickly turns to dust, leaving only the five of them.

"Sgt. Rollins come in!  This is the chief!  Break radio silence!  Report what's happening. "

Annabelle rolls over in her cot and reaches into her weapons pile for a glass bottle of holy water she nearly forgot she had.

She hurls it at Micheal, a deliberate near miss so he'll get the message.  It just misses him and smashes against the nearest wall.

"You're still not funny! Go to bed!  Other people are trying to sleep!"

Annabelle shouted as she laid back down and pulled her blanket up over her head.

Moments later, Annabelle, Aaron, and Buffybot sneak out the back entrance to The Fish Tank.

They make their way past several buildings while remaining at the back of each building and out of sight.

BKOW!

Another shot rings out.  The sound indicates it's coming from the other side of where they are now.
The threesome sneak around the corner then venture out into the street (they're now a safe distance away from The Fish Tank so no one will readily guess that's your hideout).

No sign of anyone, then...........on a two story building on the other side of the street, five figures spring up from hiding on the rooftop.  Luckily the trio were facing that way when they appeared.

All five are wearing black clothes and full headed masks, so you can't be sure if they're human or not.  And all five are holding rifles.  And they are taking aim at you.

OCC: Combat thread time for you three.  Good eyes have initiative, but the bad guys are on a roof two stories up while you three are on the street, so only ranged attacks can be made.

She dashed forward, focusing on not getting shot, as she ran towards the same building the shooters are on top of.

"You took the words out of my mouth..."She already planned to follow Annabelle's lead and attempts to get to the building as well.

"What is it with this town?" Aaron ducks towards the side and looses a pair of snap shots at the vague forms overhead.  Both arrows take flight right past the shooters on the roof. Not Aaron's best shots, but the guys on the roof aren't statues either.

BKOW! BKOW! BKOW! BKOW!  Four bullets hit the pavement, all in the vicinity of Buffybot.

BKOW!  The fifth bullet hits her square in the chest.  The shooters were all aiming at her, apparently having no interest in the Slayer or the watcher.

Annnabelle finds the door unlocked when they reach the builidng and the trio make it inside and out of the line of fire.

Meanwhile, back at The Fish Tank

Mike and Lance hear the back door open. Can the other three be back already?

No.  Two shiny yellow demons walk in.  Miquot clan demons, the same kind you said were attacking you to lead the vamp cops into an ambush.  Well, now you've got two to fight for real.  One advances towards Mike, the other to Lance.

OCC: Buffybot takes 21 points of damage. All three of you are safely inside the building.  You can either a) wait where you are and see if the bad guys come to you or b)rush up the stairs and get to the roof to engage the villains.  If you do this one, the bad guys will have initiative since they will be in ambush position. Mike and Lance have initiative at The Fish Tank fight.

"Well look what the cat dragged in." Lance turns to the demon coming at him. "Zipity doo da!" he says as he lets the taser shot fly.

The taser nails the demon in the chest, but he still keeps coming and swings his hand in a karate chop motion, knocking the taser rifle out of Lance's hand and across the room out of his reach.

Mike was thoroughly unimpressed with these opponents...so he did his famous grab and toss maneuver, as he sends this guy flying. His angle of throw is particularly good, and this poor bastard hits the ceiling very hard before his inevitable date with gravity kicks in as he crashes to the floor...hard.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  No damage to the heroes this round although Lance has been deprived of his taser rifle for the rest of the fight (it's on the other side of the room underneath a table where he can't retrieve it with this demon still coming at him). Annabelle, Aaron, and Buffy find themselves in a building that's been abandoned for some time.  Nothing but a few broken pieces of furniture there, looks like there was a business here sometime ago.   Lots of dirt and dust around.

There's a stairway that leads upstairs and to the roof, but the threesome isn't moving.  They wait for the villains to come to them first.

Three minutes pass.

Then....BOOM!  The door at the top of the stairs bursts open.  You see three of the five attackers you saw on the roof, three figures with rifles, wearing black and ski-masks.  One leaps to the bottom of the stairs, while the other two vault over each side.

They are now on the floor and facing you, ready for action.  Unlike on  the roof, each of the three point their at one of the three of you.

Annabelle rushed up to meet the figure pointing his/her/its rifle in her direction as she landed a kick to the mid-section followed by a bulleye kick that knocked the rifle out of her attacker's hand.  He enemy let out a grunt of pain as the Slayer connected, a very human sounding grunt.

Riskily taking a moment to aim Aaron sends two shafts towards the one aiming a gun at him. The attacker fires off a shot from his rifle that Aaron barely dodges, the bullet skims past his mid-secton leaving a small mark on the side of his shirt.

The watcher's arrows then slam into the chest of the enemy who drops on his back, screaming in pain (human screams). Then he makes a peculiar bite motion with his mouth, then his head hits the floor, apparently unconcious.

Aaron frowns as the man drops to the floor before him. Human? He moves forwards trying to confirm his thoughts, and checking for signs of life when he reaches the man.

The watcher sees no signs of life and finds no pulse.  He pulls the ski mask off confirming the adversary is human.  And foaming at the mouth.  Aaron had never seen it it person, but it was covered in his watcher training: cyanide capsule.  This guy preferred death to capture.

Annabelle moved in on her opponent, scoring a takedown, followed by a kick to the face of her now downed opponent.  The noises of pain he made seemed to indicate he was human, if so she'd best not use lethal force until she was certain.

Something's not right...While Buffybot took some damage she was more than ready to dish it out. She attempts a kick on her attacker....and nails him in the gut as he lets out a human sounding grunt of pain as he tries to shoot her again, but this time misses.

With 3 tries in a row, he's hopeful his enemy will run out of resistance to this due to the rapid succession. And even if not, he's getting better at it! But the demon seemingly wills his neck to not move, resisting Mike's twist attempts.

Lance takes the punch and realizes it stings a bit more than he expected. With a grunt he slices his knife towards the demon once again and this time slashes through the demon's mid-section, spraying demon blood on the floor. The miquot demon screams as he aims a kick at Lance that misses.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  No damage to the good guys.  Still one demon up and engaging Lance, one on the ground thwarting Mike's attempts to tear his head off.

Attempting to subdue her enemy without killing him, Annabelle smashes two knockout punches to the face of her downed enemy. WHAM! WHAM!  But he remains awake, then his eyes glass over as his head hits the floor hard as foam emits from his mouth, just like the guy Aaron just examined.

Norms......interesting change. So it is more than apparent that these hostile are simply normal humans. Once again she attempts another kick and misses again.

Aaron holds back letting the two 'slayers' deal with their adversaries. Instead he covers the stairs down from the roof in case anyone else decides to join them. The watcher remains vigilant, but no other enemies appear.

The remaining adversary makes no move to attack Buffybot, he pulls something off of his belt and calmly says:  "Now we die." as he drops the object to the floor.

A grenade.

There is an overturned table in the nearly empty room that could be used as cover. If it's strong enough.  Or you could run as fast as you can either up the stairs or out the front door and hope you get far enough away.

"Oh crumbs. Aaron, look out!" the Slayer shouts as she grabs the watcher by the waist and dives behind the table, landing with her back to the table so any of the grenade blast that penetrates will hit her first and not Aaron.

BOOM!

The grenade goes off.  The table withstands most of the blast, but not all of it. The Slayer took some of the damage, but successfully protected the watcher from harm.

Buffybot was safely out of range of the grenade blast, but would now be an easy target for the two remaining guys on the roof.  If they were still there.  No sign of the remaining two, or any other adversaries on the roof.

Someone really should.

Gold medalist and reigning world champion Mike Smith will demonstrate this for the audience as he grabs the demon and hurls him across the room.  The demon lands with a THUD on the Fish Tank floor.

After hitting the demon with a nice slice to the mid section Lance saw Mike approaching. "Go ahead finish this bad boy off!" He makes a move toward getting back the taser in case more are to come in after this one. "Gotta get my lightning back."

With Mike keeping the demon occupied, Lance recovers his taser rifle from where it landed under a table on the other side of the room.

He nods as Annabelle starts to drag one of the bodies outside. "Yes. They're a group known as the Legion of Vienna. Apparently entirely human, they work for money rather than idealism as far as we know. Have a nasty habit of taking cyanide if they get injured or fail at their mission. Makes things damnably tricky when it comes to interrogating them... Oh and as mercenaries they have no issues with using military weapons and kit. The ones we came across were carrying some sort of assault rifles and grenades." Thinking that should cover all the salient points he waits to see if there are any questions. Mike says, "So, general plan. Since fortification didn't happen, we need to NOT be here for any battles fought. The general idea is, they have to fan out looking for us. When they do, we want to pick them off, They will use their numbers if they can, but we don't have to let them, so we want to fight them in narrow corridors where ganging up is fairly impossible due to terrain."

The group of five creep silently behind The Fish Tank and then the adjacent buildings getting closer to the builidng where the mercenaries were encountered earlier.

Finally you reach the back of the building directly across the street from the site of the last battle.  You cautiously look around the corner.  Across the street, you see the building in question with one police car in front of it.  Red lights still spinning on the police car, but the siren is off.

The lights are off in the building. You can't readily tell from here how many vamp cops are inside.

OCC: Make a perception plus notice roll if you want to try to detect the number of vamp cops inside. There are two ways to get inside the building; 1)cross the street and enter through the front door.   2)cross the street and circle around to the back, climb the fire escape and enter through the door on the roof.

The group has barely gone a few steps when Mike, Aaron, and Lance get that spider-sense tingling "somebody is about to ambush us" feeling they get sometimes.

The three of you turn around at once and see bad news.  Really bad news. Two of the four elite SWAT vamps are here, specifically hiding in the first floor of the abandoned building opposite the one you were advancing on.  Their rifles are raised, their intent to open fire on you from behind when you went after the two beat cops (also known as the bait).  Nothing between you and them except a large picture window, certainly nothing that will stop a bullet.

They're about to open fire.

Re: Episode 2-10

The SWAT vamps opened fire.

Lance rolls to the side in a full on defensive position. "Snipers!" he yelled as hit the ground.

Aaron is already moving as he hears Lance call out, sprinting to dive behind the police car. Hopefully that will provide some protection from the snipers.

"Oh crumbs." Annabelle said as heard the warnings and turned her head in the direction of the elite SWAT vamps about to open fire, then immediately went for the nearest available cover, trying not to get shot.

BLAM! The bullet went through the air in her direction, but the Slayer was moving with such speed and grace that made a gazelle look like a tired old feeb as the bullet whizzed past her.

Before Buffybot got into position on the roof, she heard the heads up.

BLAM!  The rifle struck her in the side as sparks flew out, she kept stride and made it up the stairs and up on the roof.

As  soon as the bullet left his rifle, he jumped through the picture window, and chased Buffybot up the stairs and onto the roof behind her.

Mike wasn't worried about the bullets...but then, the bullets weren't for him. The big vamps weren't stupid enough to waste bullets on one of their kin. Well, probably not.

Still, he rushed forward at the two vamps, and ignoring defense (those were only bullets aimed at him), went to stake the two 'bait' vampires on his own, with a couple double staking manuever, going after the non feeding one first, and the feeding one second, since he'll be an easier target.

This also makes him the obvious target for the snipers, but also the one they couldn't do much about. The first beat cop turned in the direction of the gunshots and saw Mike charging at him. Crash!  Mike jumped through that front window.  THOK!  FOOM!  The first beat cop quickly turned to dust before he could make a move.  The feeding vamp cop was still feeding (can't fight, eating)as Mike easily plunged the stake into his heart from behind.  THOK! FOOM!  He's dust.

Mike had little trouble dispatching the two beat cops used as bait. And finally turned to the snipers.

"Guns? No. You'll have to play with me the old fashioned way."

He beckons them to come out and play.

One had already chased Buffybot up to the roof.

But it looked like the other one was going to accept his invitation.  He dropped his rifle with a THUD, then jumped through the now broken picture window as he charged towards Mike.

OCC:Back to the combat thread.  Buffybot takes 22 points of damage. BAD GUYS HAVE INITIATIVE.  Two elite SWAT vamps left, no sign of any others.  Yet.  One is on the ground about to engage Mike up close.  The other has followed Buffybot up on the roof (and still has his rifle). Aaron, Lance, and Annabelle you can either help Mike with the one on the ground, or help Buffybot with the one on the roof. The SWAT vamp on the roof can be attacked with ranged weapons from the ground.

Re: Episode 2-10

The SWAT vamp on the roof raises his rifle and fires on Buffybot once again.  This time she dodged the speeding bullet.

Buffybot growls it wasn't that she regretted the roof approach, No that wasn't it. The regret came for failing to get the crossbow or ranged weapon. Even if (like the real Buffy) believes in getting up close and personal. She closes the distance, nailing two punches on the super SWAT vamp. Out of the corner of her eye she was being aided by Lance and Aaron.

Trusting to his fellows to deal with the vampire on the ground Aaron spins to help out Buffybot on the roof. The shot was a little tricky as he would have to arc the shot just right. A few moments of aiming and two arrows loop over the roof towards the vampire.  THOK!  THOK!  Both arrows nailed the vamp in the chest, but with his SWAT armor he looked more annoyed than wounded.

Figuring their vamp and slayer can hold their own for a moment Lance follows the bot towards the roof taser in hand.  At the last moment he sees the arrows coming their way and stops short to let them find their mark. The arrows hit the SWATvamp on target, leaving Lance ready to do battle on the roof.

While not QUITE the same as an all out offensive, it may as well have been.

Mike held nothing back, putting as much as he could into the grab and EVERYTHING into the toss. He wasn't overly concerned with defending about counterattacks at all though he made a nominal effort in that regard. Truly, though, more of a berserker charge.

And that would prove his undoing as the SSV charged forward to meet him and got the drop on him first, executing a perfect judo flip leaving Mike on his back.  As the SSV walks up to his prone form, Mike sees he's got a pistol on one side of his belt, no big problem there.  But on the other side he has a wooden stake where the billy club would usually be.  That is a problem.

"Lucky for you, I don't hit another vamp when they're down, I kick em'!!!!" the SSV said as he planted his size 13 SWAT boot in Mike's face.  Mike has rarely been hit so hard in his immortal life.  If he were still human, that kick would have done permanent brain damage.

Annabelle opts to go after the Super SWAT vamp going after Michael on the ground.

If I hit him, maybe he'll even feel it under his armored vest she thinks as she races over to him, aiming a punch followed by a spin kick at his body.

But she never makes it that far as the SSV whirls around and nails the Slayer with another perfect judo flip.  "I've got something for you too limey tart." he says, following up with a judo chop to the stomach that made Annabelle cough up blood.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  Mike takes 36 points of damage, Annabelle takes 41 points.  BAD GUYS HAVE INITIATIVE AGAIN.  Mike and Annabelle will begin the round on the ground on -4 to defense to any attacks (and there will be some), then they can get to their feet and attack.

Re: Episode 2-10

Now this was what Buffybot wanted! Toe-to-toe. She could've sworn that being around Mike did wonders to her. Of course she HAD hoped to for the quick knockout but.....the SSV had other plans as he drops his rifle and reaches for her.  If Buffybot was channeling Mike, she was doing it in the worst way as she got exactly what he just got.  THUD!  A masterful judo throw puts her on her back. WHAM! Followed by a powerful boot to the face that rattles the nuts and bolts in her head.

Lance moves to flank the swat vamp that the bot was going toe to toe with. The SWAT vamp gets to him first and unloads a punch to Lance's head.  Lance has never been hit so hard before.  This guy is an HST of the highest threat level.

He then levels the taser at its legs and fires. But this vamp is fast too, dodging the stream of lightning.

Knowing that it had been successful previously Aaron carefully lines up his shots at the Vampire on the roof. The shot was trickier than last time due to needing to aim somewhat lower. He would almost feel bad for the necessity, had his target been human rather than merely able to pose as one.

THOK.  AAAAHHH!!!!  THOK. AAAAHHH!!!  Two bulleyes for the watcher as both arrows find their mark.  The SSV doesn't look so tough now as slumps to the ground in a fetal position holding his now arrow ridden groin area in pain.

Mike wasn't in a good spot. But then he smelled something. He smelled something powerful. Something his companion had that would give him the edge he needed to defeat this opponent.

The SSV stands confidently over Mike's prone body.  "End of the line punk." He pulls out his wooden stake and drives it towards Mike's heart.

Dodging with peternatural grace, he doesn't attack the enemy as the wooden stake hits the pavement where Mike was a second ago. Instead, he races to Annabelle, where she's wounded, and...kisses her.

Is that the power up?

No, the blood she just coughed up is. It's very little...but it's enough.

Michael feels his blood burning.  If a vampire can feel reborn for a second time, this is it.

Annabelle clutched her stomach, that vampire packed a punch.  "Michael, we've got to......mmmmhhh!!!!!.....what the bloody hell are you......mmmmhhh!!!!" The ensouled vampire has lost it.  He was certifiably off his trolley.

Annabelle could then only manage to jump to her feet and avoid getting hit again, Michael's totally mad action deprived her of coherent thought.

OCC: Back to the combat thread. Buffybot takes 44 points of damage, Lance takes 25 points.  GOOD GUYS HAVE INITIATIVE THIS ROUND.  SSV on the ground is still standing and ready to fight.  The one on the roof is lying down in pain from the double arrow shots to the groin.

Re: Episode 2-10

Is Mike crazy? Maybe. Is Mike effective? You betcha.

Whatever it is Mike did, he charged at the enemy SWAT Vampire, and then did his typical grab and throw. After the SSV hit the pavement, he grabbed a nearby car (Yes, car! Okay, it's only one of those cube vehicles that are pretty light, but still, a friggin CAR!) and smashed it down on the vampire's legs. The SSV screamed in pain as you could hear the crushing sound of the car hit him. Then Mike finally went to stake him. All in the space of a second or two.

THOK.  FOOM!  This one's dust.

Michael certainly seemed to get his second wind (figure of speech of course since he doesn't breath).  Annabelle touched her mouth and found no blood.  Michael wasn't after a kiss, he wanted her blood and her mouth just happened to be in the vicinity.

Did my blood do that? she thought.  Slay first, think later.  That's what her watcher always said.

The Slayer charged forward, wooden stake in hand, ready to plunge it into the SSV's heart, twice if that's what it took.  But zero was enough as the SSV was dust by the time she reached the dust pile that used to be a solid vampire.

Buffybot needed to get up in a hurry. She then snaps to her feet. "Sorry pal not happening."She attempts to finish what she started as she attempts to once again finish the vamp cop off......the stake plunged into the SSV's heart, but no dusting occurred.  Tough vamp combined with SWAT armor made him hard to dust.

"You dirty son of a ...." Lance rubs his face where he took the shot.  He shakes it off and lets that last sentence hang and fires another taser shot.  Hopefully he can knock the thing out and the bot can finish it off. If not Lance knows he can start hacking with his knife but first he must knock him out.

"Here you rat bastard!"

ZAP!  The taser blast strikes the vamp's unprotected arm and rips through him. But he's still awake.  He then pulls the arrows out of his body, trying to get up, but still can't.

The vampire above dropped out of site, so Aaron spins to shoot at the other. He repeats his tactic, aiming around the protective layers of the vampire's SWAT armour. His two arrows were flew one after the other, hitting the pile of dust, the SSV was at just a second ago before Mike finished him off.

OCC: One super SWAT vamp left, currently lying on the roof in pain (but still awake).  Good guys have initiative this round too.

"Quite correct, young man."

The three of you turn to the sound of the voice to see the Mayor standing there.  Alone.

"How good of you all to join me. Now why don't we adjourn to the conference room.  I'm sure you're all wondering why I've called your here."

The Mayor then leads the trio back to a different conference room than the one you were in before (no major differences except no property damage like the other one has from the previous battle).

The Mayor takes a seat at the head of the long conference table.

"I've have decided............you can go to bloody hell!!!!  Get him!!!" Annabelle screams, hoping Aaron and Lance will follow her lead as puts everything she's got into a crossbow shot to the Mayor's heart.

The bolt flies through the air as the mayor tries to dodge and fails. THOK! Bullseye in the heart. But he doesn't dust.

Lance goes into a Low roll as there was no time for thinking since the slayer made her move.  When he is done with the roll he ends up in a crouching position with the taser aimed at the Mayor's legs.  "I guess this is your answer."

SHHRRAAKK!!   The lighting stream from the taser rips through the air, but the mayor has better success dodging that as the taser blast hits the bookshelf behind him.

"I think we'll pass." Aaron takes a little longer to strike than his companions. Instead opting to cause the man a little pain, after all he had put them through a lot these last days.

Both arrows impact the mayor's groin...............and bounce off, hitting the floor.

"Looks like I owe the chief $20.  He told me this new mail order kevlar jock strap would come in handy.  I said I had no use for it.  He said I'll bet you $20 you do."
the mayor says as he pulls the crossbow arrow from his heart.

"You three think I've made your lives miserable these last few days?  I've only just begun."

Well that went swimmingly." Annabelle said as she dropped the now empty crossbow and drew her smaller pistol crossbow, pointing it at the Mayor's heart again.

"Aaron! Lance! Run for it!  I'll try to hold him off!"

"Great. Always with the running." Aaron turns and dashes out of the room. "You too Annabelle!"

While not too keen on running and letting the slayer alone Lance also knows he is no match for the Mayor. Rolling towards the door Lance then bolts upright and dashes for the doorway with the intent of only getting clear but not leaving the building or the slayer behind. He yells in his best Snaggle Puss voice "Exit stage left even!"

As Aaron and Lance dash out of the conference room, the Mayor rears his fist back, utters something in Russian, then pumps his fist forward.

WHAM!

Annabelle is struck by a seemingly invisible fist as she is hurled back against the wall and then crumples to floor.

Meanwhile, Aaron and Lance make it out and down the hallway to the East side building exit.

But when Aaron tries to push on the door, it won't budge.  Not even a fraction of an inch as if were held in place by some mystical force.

Then a voice shouts behind them; "Aaron!  Lance!  I did it!  I've destroyed the Mayor!"

Both turn to see Annabelle running towards them.  So it appears.

OCC: Aaron and Lance both need to make a willpower doubled roll.  As indicated above, the door in front of you won't budge at all, no exit this way.

Mike uses a measured advance, and since the Bot already ran in, he does his best to take advantage of flanking to further improve his assault. If he can just not get knocked down by the chief's attack..............so much for that plan.

The chief nails Michael with an awesome judo throw that puts him on the ground.
"Stupid Order of Aurelius punk.  The Master was a loser and so are all his progeny."

Buffybot managed to remain standing and threw a punch at the chief, he nimbly dodged it.  "Useless machine.  Maybe if I'm lucky I can sell what's left of you on ebay for spare parts."

Meanwhile a few yards away:

The other cops run up to engage the Turoks.  One SSV hurls a punch at a Turok and misses.  The Turok in turn hurls a kick and misses.  The two turoks enagaing the beat vamp cops have better luck as they avoid the cops' attacks, then nail each one with a punch of their own.

But the other SSV unleashes a brutal attack against his enemy: punch to the face, kick the gut, he the draws his wooden stake from his belt and plunges it in to the Turok's heart.  Thok!  FOOM!  One dusted.

It's now 4 against 3, advantage: cops.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  Mike takes 13 points of damage and is on the ground, he'll begin next round on the ground at -4 to the chief's attack before he can snap to his feet and attack.  Buffybot is still standing and can attack normally, her life score now at 34 with the DP spending.

"Perhaps your magics aren't as powerful as you think! Aaron! Lance! Get down!" Annabelle shouts as she aims her pistol crossbow at the mayor and is about to shoot towards his body.

The mayor remained stunned at seeing Annabelle standing there, stunned enough to hesitate for a moment giving the heroes the initiative.

Aaron dodges out of the way and away from the mayor as Annabelle calls her warning. That the mayor had the skill and power to pull off such a transformation or illusion on the fly was a dangerous precedent.

Lance likewise ducks the shot the slayer lets fly and fires a taser shot of his own, if nothing else to distract the Mayor and maybe let the crossbow shot find it's mark.

SSHHHRRAAK!!  The taser blast flies through the air, but the mayor moved fast as he dodged the blast that struck the wall behind him.

With her allies out of the way, Annabelle fired her crossbow shot that the mayor also dodged.

This bought the threesome enough time to get down the stairs and around the corner.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  You three are now down the stairs and around the corner.  You can either run like heck down the hall and try to stay out of the mayor's reach (you can't go outside due to the field, but it is a big building) or wait at the bottom of the stairs to ambush the mayor, which would give you initiative for this round.

Re: Episode 2-10

Outside

Goddamnit. Who trained the police chief in jujitsu? Mike feels an urge to stake that vamp. However, he has more important things to do first. Like snap to his feet and continue the attack. Seeing that the tide has turned against the Turok Han, well, that means reinforcements are coming for the chief, but he can't count on reinforcements himself, as the magic splitting the party isn't likely to come down anytime soon.

"Ya know, you're right. The Master was kind of a loser. Unfortunately for you, he's not the progenitor in my bloodline you should be worried about."

"Would that be Angelus? The most overrated vampire of all time?  If he were here right now, I'd be kicking his ass as easily as I'm kicking yours!" the
chief said as he aimed a kick at Mike's downed form...and misses.

Because then Mike is back up and swinging, a moment of prescience seeming to fall over the vampiric warrior.  Fighting like a damn superhero, he springs to his feet with great evasiveness, and this time successfully grabs and tosses the chief into the building and possibly through a window. Let's see how thorough that spell is.

Very thorough actually.  The chief slams into the building, or rather into the forefield surrounding the building and crashes to the ground on his back.  The window he hit isn't even cracked.

Buffybot was now back in the fight. The Police Chief clearly wasn't playing around. Also Mike took a wallop from the Chief. "So showing your true colors or just showing off. Show isn't over yet...."

She ran over to the chief's downed form and plunged the stake into the cheif's heart once.....twice....and after two direct stakes to the heart, the chief is still solid.  This guy doesn't dust easy.

Meanwhile, a few yards away.

One super SWAT vamp engages what appears to be the toughest Turok Han.  He throws a punch and misses.  The Turok then lurches forward, grabbing him around the neck and twists....CRACK!....and again CRACK!, but the SSV is still there.  His partner who just finished off the other Turok shouts "Hang on!  I'm coming to help!" he runs over, and plunges his stake......into the heart of the other SSV from behind.  FOOM!!  One SSV is dust.  "I didn't say I was coming to help you you crooked cop!  The chief found out about that family you were keeping as your own personal blood supply without telling us!  No room for crooked cops on the Sunnydale vamp PD!"

WHAM!  WHAM!  The other two beat cops are getting pounded by the Turoks.  They could use some help, hopefully not the same kind that traitorous SSV got.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  THE CHIEF HAS INITIATIVE and will begin the round by springing to his feet and going after the two of you.  On the other side of the field, it's now 3 against 3.

As the trio rounded the corner at the bottom of the stairs, Annabelle reached out and pulled Aaron's sword from its sheath.  "Need to borrow this for a moment Aaron." she whispered as the Slayer took ambush position as she waited for the mayor to come around the corner.

Lance runs just to the edge of the range of his taser to the ambush the slayer has planned. If the mayor gets past Annabelle, Lance will be ready to tase again.

Aaron moved slightly further down the corridor prepared to thread a shot between his allies when the mayor arrived. "Not a problem."

Five seconds later, the mayor turned the corner, making no attempt to defend himself from their ambush.  Sssshhhh!!!  Sssssshhh!!!!  Annabelle's borrowed sword slashes twice across the mayor's chest, splattering blood on the walls.

The mayor turns to her, he's not amused. "Young lady, do you no how much this suit costs??!!  Or how difficult it is to clean up blood on the walls??!!  Blasted teenagers!!  You think money grows on trees!!!!!"

THOK! THOK!  Just then Aaron's two arrows impact the mayor's chest.  "Well, I didn't expect this.  You three managed to catch me with my britches down.  I thought for sure you would run.  You've got courage if not much brains."

The mayor smiles as he looks down the hall at Aaron and Lance. "Come closer my sons." The mayor raises both hands and Aaron and Lance feel themselves lift off the ground and being pulled towards the mayor.  Then they come to a sudden halt and land gently on their own two feet, but standing mere inches away from the mayor.

The mayor quickly glances back and forth to all three of you.  "Now then, I believe I've had enough of your nonsense."

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  The mayor has initiative this round.  All three of you are standing on your own feet, but only a few inches away from the mayor. This fight's not hopeless, that last round took a nice chunk out of the mayor's life points.

Mike, determined to get the better of the jujitsu match, first must make sure he doesn't get countered.  The chief lunged for Mike, but didn't come close as the ensouled vamp countered perfectly.

Upon achieving that, he goes for the usual grab and toss and fails as the chief dodges out of the way, and remains on his feet.

"Finish it!"

To the Buffybot.

Buffybot grins. She didn't waste a single moment...."You read my mind Mike!"

Buffybot made a perfect one in a hundred stake thrust to the heart.  The cheif is still solid.  And again.

The chief is still solid.

"That was a million dollar shot robot, but you're just not good enough to finish me off!"

On the other side of the field:

The remaining super SWAT vamp and the toughest Turok have another stalemate as neither one can tag the other.

The other two Turoks wrap their hands around the necks of each beat cop vamp. And squeeze.  Crack Crack Crack Crack.  Two heads pop off.  Four piles of dust explode.  Now it's 3 against 1, advantage Turoks.

Mike was once again an absurdly evasive target as the chief fails to tag him.He goes for another grapple attempt and succeeds in grabbing the chief by the neck. But since Buffybot's best efforts weren't finishing the guy, he decides to do it his way. With a good old fashioned Neck Break.

"Heads. You lose."

But the chief doesn't lose as his neck becomes a wall of steel and refuses to twist. "I'm not the one losing tonight punk......you are!"

Buffybot growled a bit at the Chief snide remark. "Not bad for a tough guy but you're still going down!" She  aims another stake to the heart, nailing him from behind as he engages Michael.

"And now you snot nosed punk, I'm gonna........uh oh."

FOOM!

That was the chief's final words as he explodes into dust, that last stake attempt was finally enough.

Across the field

The last SSV delivers a high kick to the toughest Turok, then whips out his stake, driving into the hearts of the other two.  FOOM!  FOOM!  They both explode to dust.

Turok-Hans aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer, but this one saw this one "regular vamp" dust his two comrades and decides discretion is the better part of valor, and runs off at top speed.

The SSV lets him go, turning his attention to the other fight just in time to see:

FOOM!  "Chief!  You dusted the chief! You're both dead!"

The SSV charges forward, dashing across the lawn to engage the duo that just dusted his leader.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  Good news: You finished the chief.  Bad news: The last Super SWAT vamp is coming at both of you, and he has SWAT armor on.  The bad guy has initiative.

Lance let his taser fall at his side supported only by the strap upon his shoulder. Then he slowly works his hand to the hilt of his knife. He looks to the slayer ready to follow her lead as a bead of sweat runs down his cheek.

"And we've had far more than enough of yours!!" Annabelle screams at the top of her lungs, more angry than afraid as she swings her borrowed sword at the mayor's mid-section again.

Aaron steps swiftly to the side to avoid Annabelle's incoming attack and  aims his knee up towards the mayors groin as he does so. After all a cup can only do so much.

But before any of you can launch your attacks, the mayor utters something in Summerian, and points his hands to the floor.

All three of you immediately drop to the floor and can barely move.  It feels like a giant invisible hand is holding you to the floor.  You talk, move your fingers, and raise your heads a couple of inches, but that's it.

The mayor begins to pace in a circle around you three as you are pinned to the floor.

"Don't bother trying to get up.  Now then, you three have been a huge thorn in my side.  You've nearly wiped out my police force.  I underestimated you.  I should have disposed of you personally.  You have no chance against me of course.  My power is so great, you're just flies buzzing in my face. Inside City Hall:

The mayor continues to pace.

The insolence of these three is inconceivable!!!

"Do you have any idea who I am?!  What kind power I wield?!  You should be begging for your life!! How many vampires have you encountered who have my strength, my mental powers, my knowledge of magic?!  I have an occult book collection upstairs that would make the watcher's council fall over dead from shock, if they weren't dead already!!"

The mayor walks over to Annabelle and spits on her. "Insolent child!" Then walks over to Lance and spits on him too.  "Soldier boy playing vampire hunter.  You shouldn't have gotten so far out of your depth." Then he walks over to Aaron and spits on him. "You shouldn't have gotten involved you fool!  You should have done what watchers do best; sit back and watch!"

"You show unusual loyalty to a big pile of dust. Since all 3 of your Swat Vamp friends are dead, and your chief is dead, I should think you'd be thanking me for your promotion to chief and retreating about now. But if you insist on fighting to the death like all your friends and your boss...well, your ashtray."

Mike wasn't giving any openings, but he wasn't finding many either.

As the SSV got closer, he pulled off his helmet and threw it at Mike like a cannonball, but missed as Mike was moving like a gazelle.

But the SSV was no slouch himself as he evaded Mike's attempt to grab his neck.

Buffybot sighs at that vamp SWAT cop. "Yeah yeah you'll be joining them soon." So she charges him and plunges her stake into his heart..... and again.  He's still there, those SWAT vests are worth every penny.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  The SSV has discarded his helmet, leaving him unprotected from any attacks to the face and head.

That was asking for it. But Mike smoothly moved to the next attack...defending himself successfully as the SSV missed a kick to his his gut, attacking equally successfully as he grabs the SSV by the neck, but that's were his winning streak stopped as the vamp's neck refused to twist.

Asking for it. Man is Buffybot pissed off to say the least. "Dumb armor!" Maybe a blow to the head would stun the SSV guy. WHAP! WHAP!  Her weak attack managed to land due to the SSV being occupied by Mike grabbing his neck, the vamp was still standing though.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  The SSV has initiative and will begin the round by breaking free of Mike's neck grapple.

Inside City Hall

Lance feels the spittle hit him and his mental state turns to rage.  The lyrics of one of his favorite songs plays through his head as he sings. "See them try to break my armor down, NO DAMN CHAINS CAN HOLD ME TO THE GROUND!" he takes a deep breath and is determined that he will not be denied as he tries to rise to his feet before the mayor.

"Insolent?!  INSOLENT?!" Annabelle says. As if her anger at this man wasn't great enough already, when his saliva hit her, that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
"You'll now learn what my first governess had to learn the hard way.  You've never seen me when I'm insolent until now!!!"
She presses both palms to the floor and strains with all her Slayer might against the invisible force holding her down.

The look of confidence on the mayor's face begins to waver as the force holding the trio down begins to buckle.

WHOOM!  The force evaporates and the threesome are now back on their feet.

"No! That's impossible!!  IMPOSSIBLE!"

The mayor is in full panic mode now as he rushes down the hall and back into the conference room that you were all just in.

OCC: Back to the combat thread. The spell holding you down has been broken and you are free to act normally.  You three have initiative for just this round, the mayor's in a panic which is causing him to hesitate.

The SSV goes after Buffybot first but fails to connect with her.

Mike did his best to go to his grab and toss routine, but perhaps he'd done it one time too many, and it wasn't his most effective strategy just then. The SSV confirmed that theory when he once again evaded Mike's grapple attempt.

Unfortunately any hope of the Houdini armor swipe was dashed. Buffybot was forced to go to distance as she attempts to weaken that armor.........but her stake shot misses entirely, leaving the SSV unscathed.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  Stalemate round, no damage inflicted on either side.

In City Hall

When the power holding him dissipated Aaron dropped to the floor falling into a squat as his legs absorb the unexpected impact. He reaches up and wipes the spittle from him and flicks it at the floor before standing and stalking after the mayor's fleeing form, an arrow racing down the corridor before him.

THOK!  The mayor was an easy target as the arrow struck his back while he made a sharp turn into the conference room.

The mayor just managed to pull the arrow when Lance was upon him.

With an audible grunt Lance goes into a low leg sweep maneuver but instead of sweeping the mayors leg he slashes across his knees with his knife as he completes the spin staying low to not interfere with the others attacks.

WHHISSHHH!!!  The big knife connects as blood from the mayor sprays on the floor.

"What about this Mr. Mayor, I suppose this is impossible as well!!"
Annabelle shouts as she swings the sword into the mayor's chest.  WHHHISSHH!!!! More mayor blood on the floor. WHAM! The Slayer's foot connects with his face.

The mayor tries to throw at punch at Annabelle and misses.  "I've played around with you enough!  Now, feel my power!" the mayor shouts.

OCC: Back to the combat thread.  The mayor has initiative this round. Good round heroes.  You dished out some major mayor damage.

The best attack often comes from the unexpected angle. By now, nobody expects Mike to just haul off and punch some poor slob of a vamp in the nose. But that's what Mike's doing now. Fist to the face.  WHAM! Twice. WHAM! Perfectly executed punches too, with all of Mike's very formidable strength behind it.

The SSV's face is a bloody mess now.

Lucky for Buffybot she kept her cool. While Mike was reworking their opponents face, Buffybot continues to strike that armor with all her might.

Her stake plunges into the SSV's heart Thok!  FOOM!  That one did it.  He explodes into dust.

You both look around.  No one else here but the two of you.

The mayor points at Lance and Lance then.......lifts six inches off the ground, and moves back three yards before dropping back to his feet.  The mayor's powers are weakening.

"We've felt your power, yet we're still here!  Now you're going to feel mine!"

Annabelle then faked a sword strike to the mayor's chest. He fell for it, as she then aimed upwards for a decapitation attempt.

Swish!  Her sword swung so quickly, you couldn't tell if she hit or not.

The mayor looked at Annabelle.

"You missed me!"

As he said that, a thin line of blood appeared on the mayor's neck and got wider for about two seconds.

Then his head toppled off and both head and body turned to dust.

Two piles of dust now lie on the floor where the mayor once stood.

Then you hear a loud WHOOSH noise that vibrated from the inside of the building to out.  The building glows for a moment, then stops.  With the mayor now destroyed, the field surrounded the building has dropped.

OCC: Fight's over.  Mayor has been destroyed. Field his now down. Back to the main thread.

That was Annabelle's response to Michael's news that the chief and his henchman have been disposed of.  Her face was totally impassive as she remained seated, barely moving.

Lance likewise follows but at a slower pace watching their backs as they ascend. He is a bit uneasy considering the last 34 hours or so of his life as he reflects.  Not what he expected of course, being gone from Sunnydale for so long and now he finds himself in an end of the world, last survivor, last man on earth, type of situation. Albeit n a smaller scale. Yes he is anti-social overall, but this is a bit much. When he takes it all in he does manage a smile to himself and chuckles "How do I get myself into these situations?"

After several tries of checking rooms upstairs, Annabelle tries the knob on a closed door.

It opens into a room with two tables and a desk, not unlike a mini-library, and shelves full of old books.  Lots of old books. Hundreds probably.

Michael feels a little dizzy a first when stepping in the room, the combined stench of aged paper from all the books is an assault on his vampire senses.

Aaron follows the others up the stairs more slowly, he just couldn't seem to muster the boundless energy that some of the others seemed to have. Crossing into the room full of books he blinks, he hadn't seen a collection so large since leaving the Watchers' mansion in England. It was probably one of the foremost libraries on occult works left in the world. There was no doubt that they would need to be catalogued at some point, but that would be the work of another day. Frowning as he seats himself with a sigh, he browses the titles of the volumes that Annabelle has in front of her. Good though it was that she wanted to learn, there was some knowledge that she was still ill prepared for.
