Re: Staff and Professors
Staff:
Mr. Dayn Davien- Caretaker of the school.  He is a man of middling age and dubious heritage.

Madame Celestia Point- School Nurse.  A severe and strict witch of consummate skill.

Walden MacNair- Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts.  The dark forest has run amok and is full of rebelling centaurs, goblins, and elves.  MacNair is cruel, but he is capable.

Madamoiselle Teres Travers- Librarian at school as well as the object of many male students affections, and a few girls too.

Miss Aloisia Finklestein-Einhorn- Though eh tried to weasel out of hiring a replacement for Antonia Duckworth, the mental distress his students showed at the end of the 2020-2021 years had Snape approving the hiring of this young woman fresh out of her training. She is an American witch with impressive credentials and bosom who favors severe expressions and soothing tones.

Third Year staff---
APF Alfred O'Seamus - TBD

Auror Wesley Tallowhide is assigned the Hufflepuff dorms.  HE is a stooped, funny looking, and constantly smiling man in gaudy, even by wizarding standards, robes that are much patched.  He has mismatched socks and rarely wears shoes.  HAs an old style enchanted bike.

Auror Concepta Thrussington is assigned to the Slytherin dorms and has absolutely no track record.  SHe is a loud woman in appearance and louder still in personality.  When she is in a room, it centers on her, and she has a way of making everyone sort of move to her tune.  She is a metamorphmagus and runs MI-6 for Lady Red, though no one knows that fact.

Auror Eustace Scrub was imprisoned by Voldemort for 'crimes against the blood' as his father was a goblin.  After he was released, he proved to be a loyal supporter of Lady Red and has been the front man for the governmenyt in many diplomatic missions with goblins, loyalist and rebel alike.  He is one of the nations foremost experts on Curses and is the author of the seminal work on the unforgivable curses.  Eustice is assigned to the Ravenclaws.

Auror Nyx Sekndenberg is a tall, black, gaunt, serious, and dangerous man.  He spent a decade working for the Obliviators under Ladty Red and has only recently transferred to teh aurors' office.  What he did in the Obliviators' office is a matter of national security and is unknown.  He is all business all the time and his business is black.  Nyx is a former Gryffindor of all things and is assigned tot their house.

Re: Staff and Professors
Professors:

CoMC- (elective) Professor Charlie Weasley

Charms- (core) Professor Peter Prewett (33)- A scion of the Prewett family and a distant cousin of Molly Weasley, Peter is a tall weathered man who is ruggedly handsome.  He has short sandy blonde hair, blue eyes, and a thoroughly positive personality.

Magical Languages- (elective) Professor Lucretia LeFey (50)- a graduate of Hogwarts and Slytherin house, Professor LeFey has made an international name for herself by penning the first treatise on the nature of the language used to cast magic and its evolution from Latin as a root with influence from Magical Creatures' languages and practices.  She is fluent in over two dozen languages and can passable speak another twenty.  She is tall dark whip of a woman with a very scary expression, like she is always tasting castor oil.

Muggle Studies- (elective) Professor Thelma Bluebottle (101)- a witch of considerable experience and knowledge, Professor Bluebottle was imprisoned after the Second Wizarding War as a muggle and spent several years in Azkhaban.  Surprisingly, she was quite chipper when she got out and went about her business.  She is an expert on muggle artifacts and the combining of them and magic for unique effects neither faction thought about before.  Her book, "1001 Uses of Muggle Artifacts" is on the banned booklist.  She is a sort of plump pleasant older woman with the grandma like qualities of a midwestern farm wife... from the 1930s.  She studied magic at the Salem Academy and is American.

Transfiguration- (core) Ulysses Howell (58)- A man of great size, great appetites, and bizarre taste in clothing.  He is, none the less, one of Britain's foremost experts on Transfiguration and a talented wizard.  He is also a loyal supporter of Lad Red.

Astronomy- (core) Professor Aurora Sinistra (80+?)- Professor Sinistra is remarkable in her maintenance of a completely neutral nature.  She teaches her classes well and with enthusiasm, but is very nondescript as a teacher.

History of Magic- (core) Professor Cuthbert Binns (???)-  Binns is still a ghost and Binns' classes are remarkable only for their utter dreariness. He reads through endless details of goblin uprisings and other events "in a flat drone like an old vacuum cleaner" which puts everyone into a stupor.

Herbology- (core) Professor Neville Longbottom (40)

Flying Instructor- (first year only) Mr. David Talvins (42)- Hogwarts alumn of Gryffindor house.  He went on to play for the professional Quidditch team, the Hampshire Hippogryphs, where he played as a beater for just over twenty years.  He retired last summer to take up a position as flying instructor at Hogwarts.  A position he took to, as he jokes, keep an eye on his boys.

Ancient Runes- (elective) Professor Cordelia Bones (44)- Cordelia is the older sister of Susan Bones and a kind and affable woman.  She dotes upon her students and is the one they often come to with problems, even those not in her house.  She is a devout supporter of Muggle rights.

Arithmancy- (elective) Professor Crovus Aquila (113)- Professor Aquila is an Italian born wizard of extreme age.  He has sharp eagle like features and a sharper mind.  He is the bane of rule breakers and lay-abouts.  His robes are always of a royal purple.

Divination- (elective) Professor Lavender Brown (39)- Professor Brown is sort of the joke of Hogwarts.  She is the spitting image, personality-wise, of her mentor Sibyll Trelawney.  Lavender however is a rather plump witch with chestnut brown hair instead of Trelawney's wispy appearance.  Neither does she believe she can fortune tell, instead she has a solid understanding of the techniques.

Potion- (core) Professor Penelope Clearwater (44)- Professor Clearwater is Percy Weasley's Ex.  He was killed when they were only engaged.  She has never moved on and now spends all her time teaching and taking care of her menagerie of creatures and plants that provide her ingredients.  She also writes extensively in the field of Potions and is the editor of the newest edition of Potions texts.

DADA- (core) For the purposes of the 2021 schools year, the position of DADA professor will be filled on a guest basis by Rashomon Sensei from Mahotokorou and Headmistress Narolie from Uagadou School of Magic as part of the First Annual International Wizarding Goodwill and Cooperation Festival (or FAIWGACF "faywuhgakfuh").

Re: Staff and Professors
Someone asked as part of their Character development what it would take to become an Animagi.  So, here it is, but don't you all try it.

Requirements
Magic 5
Fortitude 3
Transfiguration skill +3

The first test, to cast the spell turning yourself into an Animagi, is a Magic + Transfiguration test with a DC of 20.

After that the change requires a DC 15 check with Fortitude + Transfiguration.

In addition to the stats though, I expect this to be played out well.  I think I have set the Reqs and DCs high enough that it should be hard to attain, but I won't let you succeed before third year at all and not before fifth without it being a major part of your characters studies and goals.

Re: Staff and Professors
During the second semester of classes, every second year student has a meeting with their head of house to discuss their desired professions and elective courses.  Think of it like career counseling.  You are also given a pamphlet which gives a brief description of each class, a class bulletin.  Inside, there are also short write ups on the professors.  This years pamphlet is very new as there have been changes in the curriculum.

for my own sanity, only a couple of write-ups are actually here, but there are write ups for all the rest in the pamphlet.

Magical Languages- This class will involve the study of the pidgin language that most western wizards use to cast magic.  The aim of the course is to show that it is not the words but the will they conjure and shape that is important to spells.  The course is almost completely academic in nature but some practical practices will be used as demonstrations.  Relationships of magical language to the langauges of magical creatures will also be studied, including brief lessons on such languages as Gobbledygook, Mermish, and Elfish.  Additionally, alternative magical langauges will be introduced in advanced classes.  The goal is to have kids silent casting spells and thinking about cantrips in an active and creative way by the time they take their O.W.L.s.

Professor Lucretia LeFey, a graduate of Hogwarts and Slytherin house, Professor LeFey has made an international name for herself by penning the first treatise on the nature of the language used to cast magic and its evolution from Latin as a root with influence from Magical Creatures' languages and practices.  She is fluent in over two dozen languages and can passable speak another twenty.

Muggle Studies- This course was once offered here at Hogwarts and was a joke.  It took muggle artifacts out of context and studied them anachronistically.  The goal of this new course will to be to study muggles and their artifacts in context and from both Magical and Muggle perspectives.  A goal of a greater understanding of muggle lifestyle and how to adapt to their influences on the world is to be expected.  There will be practical examinations in class, work will be done with combining muggle artifacts and magic in a responsible way, and field trips may be taken.

Professor Thelma Bluebottle, a witch of considerable experience and knowledge, Professor Bluebottle was imprisoned after the Second Wizarding War as a muggle and spent several years in Azkhaban.  Surprisingly, she was quite chipper when she got out and went about her business.  She is an expert on muggle artifacts and the combining of them and magic for unique effects neither faction thought about before.  Her book, "1001 Uses of Muggle Artifacts" is on the banned booklist.

It is important that I should note that I would like to see everyone in at least one of these two classes.   know that some of you might not think one fits you, so that is why it is at least one.  Both these classes will be focuses of next year, though how much depends on your responses.
