Spells and Such
Just for lists of spells learned each year and to ahve them in one easy to find place for reference.

First Year Spells

Alohomora (Unlocks doors that are not magically locked with more than just the Colloportus spell)

Colloportus (Weak locking spell, easily countered with Alohomora, but useful for slowing down people chasing you)

Color Change Charm (learned either first or second year, not sure- Changes the color of an object)

Cushioning Charm (again 1st or 2nd year- creates an unseen softening effect on a target surfaces. mainly used in broomstick manufacturing)

Descendo Charm (Seems like a logical counter to Wingardium Leviosa- Causes something to descend or lower itself.)

Feather Light (Makes objects lighter and easier to carry.)

Flipendo (Knockback Jinx that knocks back the opponent; although it can easily be deflected by a Shield or Disarming Charm)

Incendio (Starts a fire. Requires flammable material)

Lumos (Causes a small beam of light to shine from the end of the caster’s wand)

Nox (Turns off the light from a Lumos spell)

Point Me (simple Charm that causes the caster’s wand when laying flat in the open palm to point north)

Reparo (Undoes damage to an object; Transfiguration spell. first years could probably fix easy damage; more complex breaks would be for later years after lots more practice.)

Scourgify (Cleans the target object.  Might be the same as the Scouring Charm.)

Spongify (Softening Charm.  Softens the target area or object, making it rubbery and bouncy.  Personally I think this might really be a Transfiguration spell.  From the harrypotter.wikia.com site which is semi based on the lego video games so not sure about it's legitimacy.)

Wand Sparks (Emits colored sparks from the wand into the air.  Used for signalling or just for fun at a party)

Wand Writing (Emits an animated ribbon from the tip of the wand that spells words or forms numbers that float in the air)

Wingardium Leviosa (Levitation Charm)


Pick four possibles (feel free to check http://www.hp-lexicon.org/magic/spells/spells.html for other picks but be reasonable).

Bluebell Flames (Creates a quantity of blue flame which can be directed to a specific place. Hermione used this their first year.)

Expelliarmus (Probably taught 2nd year in DADA- Causes opponent's weapon to fly out of his or her hand. The opponent is then said to have been Disarmed.  If several people cast it at the same target it can cause the target to be rendered unconscious)

Jelly-Legs Jinx (Causes the target's legs to wobble uncontrollably.)

Locomotor Mortis (Leg-Lock Curse. Locks together the legs of the victim, making him/her unable to walk.)

Petrificus Totalus (Turns the entire body of the victim rigid.  Hermione used it the first year, might be a second year spell.)

Stinging Hex (A fairly low-powered hex that causes a stinging pain in the victim)

Fumusex Aqua ( Creates A thin strand of water vapor; useful for finding Mistgrass when a smoker is not available)
Tutela Filii (An Alarm Spell; anyone walking though it sounds an alarm that the caster can hear)

Second Year Spells

Diffindo (Severs ropes, vines and cuts through fabric)

Fixing Charm (Magically fastens one thing to another)

Flashing Paint charm (Makes the paint flash different colors; mainly used on banners and flyers used to advertise things)

Grooming Charms (Various minor spells for personal grooming and hygiene)

Jelly-Legs Jinx (Causes the target's legs to wobble uncontrollably.)

Sneezing Charm (Causes the target to sneeze uncontrollably)

Sonorus (Makes the caster's voice carry over long distances)

Extinguishing Spell (Puts out fires)

Serpensortia (Causes a large snake to burst from the end of the caster's wand)

Slug-vomiting Charm (Causes the victim to belch up slugs)

Tarantallegra (Forces the victim's legs to do a crazy dance)

Third Year Spells

Apricum Maximus – Produces large amounts of UV light.

Arena Captionem – A jinx that shoot a small amount of sand from the tip of the wand.

Ascendio – Propels the caster upwards in a strait, fast line.

Calidum Cor – Causes the target to become temporarily happy and warm hearted.

Coniectum Piscum -  A jinx that causes fish to fly through the air, used for pranks.

Crepitus – Causes a large BANG sound, like a gun firing or car backfiring.

Duratus Glacies – A spell that causes the target to become suddenly as cold as the freezing point of water.

Calliditate Leviosa –Causes the target to hover a few inches in the air or where they were if falling.

Impervius – Makes the target waterproof for a time.

Lumos Duo Charm – Creates two small floating globes of light.

Lumos Maxima – Creates a large floating globe of light.

Eruca Leviosa – Launches the target in the air like a rocket.

Parva Frigus – Causes the target to slowly cool until firigd then dissipates, used for pranks.

Parvos Aestus – Causes the target to slowly warm until hot then dissipate, used for pranks.

Reductio – Causes an inanimate object to reduce in size.

Carpe Retractum – This spell emits a small red tractor beam from the end of the user’s wand.

Trinus sursum (Trip Jinx) – Once used, makes the victim trip.

Videre Incantatores – A spell that detects minors magical objects.

Brosse Flotante - Turn the wand into a floating paintbrush for art, user must concentrate on the image to be made and the brush. Paint not included.

Dunkel Baumen - A spell that causes wooden object to turn black.

Feng Yuxing - Must be cast silently, but allows the user to "walk on air."

Fulgur - A spell which provides ten minutes of electricity to a muggle device. Wand must remain in contact with device and not be used for other spells.

Fulgur Maximus - same as above but for one hour.

Kiken-kan (danger sense) - A Japanese alarm spell that sounds a gong if someone means you harm.

Omichili Taxidevo - Allows faster than normal travel in mists or fogs.

Vlemma Medousa - A Greek variant of the full body bind that also blocks vision.

Wèishéme - A Chinese spell that causes the target to answer one question truthfully but does not force them to answer.
