Oops.  Sorry about the confusion.  Thanks Lady Red.

I've been curious about something for a while, when people address her do they use your majesty, your grace, or another phrase.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
In England Your Grace is used for Dukes, Duchesses, and Archbishops.  Your Majesty would be appropriate for Lady Red.  Yeah it's a bit confusing being called Lady Red while being a Queen, but that's the way she likes it and she's the Queen.  ^_^

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
Don't forget, as the queen of England she is also Your Eminence since she heads the Church of England. I think that is how it works? Also, she is sort of a dictator and can be called anything she likes. A real sticky wicket as she could change her mind and you end up in the tower!

LOO, The Lady hath spoken her peace on it for now though!

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
I believe that unless she is appearing 'in a role', you use  "your majesty". If she is in that role for a formal engagement, I suspect you use that title.

Your Eminence is (I think) Roman Catholic, certainly not Church Of England.  So for instance an Arch Bishop would be 'your most reverend'. If the arch bishop was also (say) a knight it would be 'your most reverend, Sir XXX'.

It's funny that even though she is female, she is a Duke (two Duchies IIRC) not a Duchess.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
::nods::  That certainly makes sense.  If I remember correctly, the muggle Queen of England is still around.  So I wasn’t sure whether or not Lady Red had selected a different method of being addressed to distinguish herself, especially since she goes by Lady Red.  But, as Snape said, since she is dictator she can choose any titles she likes.  Though I doubt someone as wise, gracious, generous, and wonderful as Lady Red would throw someone in the tower just for selecting the wrong term.  =)  Provided that it appeared to be an honest mistake and not an attempt to insult her.

I can't even remember if I said E2 was still alive and still around or if there is still a crown if it is Charles. Maybe, Lady Red usurped? Who knows what I said or disn't say 4 years ago.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
I always imagined that Lord Voldemort killed E2 and the immediate royal family in taking over the UK.  Good way to demoralize the muggle rabble after all.

From going back and reading the early posts, it does seem as though Voldemort styled himself more like a Cromwell; in that he was Lord Protector rather than King.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
I'm surprised Lady Red didn't marry Charlie Boy before accidentally killing him. Or one of the younger princes.

It's a really easy way to demonstrate firstly power, and secondly claim legitimacy.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
Well if Voldemort did kill off the major heirs to the royal throne, Lady Red would have had to gone further down the list to find a marriageable heir to do that.  Not that she couldn't have done that but lets be honest here, if the rest of the royal family was being killed, would you stick around England or GTFO while you could?

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
Most people have inertia. The story of the frog in boiling water is a myth, but gets the idea across.

It's a big thing. Right now I have a husband, two kids, a cat. As well as that a job, friends in the community... etc etc...

So *shrug* It would be really hard to move. And is anywhere else going to be any safer would be a big issue

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
I might have to consider it and go on the official record on this at some point! Voldy would have had first crack at the Muggle royalty; not sure what he would have done. Any of my friends here who are cannon fans ever seen something that discusses the royal family and magic?

Just curious!

responding to Liu:
True, but during a war, flight or fight trumps inertia.

A lot of muggleborn witches and wizards also fled the UK since Voldemort was killing them too.

I imagine a lot of them fled to Canada or Europe.

responding to Snape:
I don't think the royal family was ever mentioned in the books, but we do know that the Prime Minister did know about the magic world.  No official word as to whether or not the Queen was also in on the secret.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
::Nods in agreement with Lady Red::   Unless something was posted on pottermore, there is very little cannon information about the Royal Family.  According to a quick google search, there is nothing in any of the books.  There is a small reference in one of the films (there is an image of a document saying that her corgi was turned into a hamster).

Semi-cannon:
There was a sketch made to celebrate the Queen's 80th Birthday. When her handbag goes missing, the muggle Prime Minister directs a message to Hogwarts to help return it. Although there's no special mention of the Queen actually communicating with wizards, Harry Hill takes the part of The Keeper of Her Majesty's Owls, suggesting that the Crown not only knows about the Wizarding world but also has a semi-regular method of communication.  A Youtube search of Harry Potter and the Queen’s handbag should pull it up.

There is tons of fan-fiction relating to the question.  But it goes all sorts of different ways.  The most common assumption is that the Royal family is a mostly squib line that produces the occasional magical child.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
Oh, I meant good fanfic mentioning the royal family. I don't read fanfic for anything anymore except what I write I guess. This game counts as fanfic, right? Looking for inspiration in case the royals ever matter or something. I mean, the Hannover Dynasty has been going since the 1700s or so! And Hogwarts has been going since before the Norman Invasion! You telling em some muggle royalty or nobles weren't magical folk along the ways?

@Amanda- interesting...

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
Alright, this is dragging a bit. I'll try to wrap up the bits I am involved in and will ignore what others have chosen to ignore. Sometime this coming week I will post for everyone to move to Diagon Alley.

Internationals, there was a tour of the school on August 15th lead by James around Hogsmeade village, then up to the castle, and around the grounds. Parents were welcome. It was a lovely scottish summer day, yaddayaddayadda.

Amanda, Claire, Athene, and others met at Madame Puddifoot's the day before for tea and catchup!

Anyone want to enter any details into the logboooks?

Robert, Right around August 21st Headmaster Snape and James arrived at the Smiths residence, with notice, for supper.  James stays on afterwards until the Smiths bring Robert back to England for school.

We will be mingling in Diagon Alley soon. I may or may not blow up Ice Cream Shops, rob the bank, murder Rita Skeeter, or any other mischief I may have planned for the new year. Hint, I like Rita too much to bump her off. I probably won't do the other things either.

I've been sick as a dog all weekend. I'll add a post about the pre-school tour tomorrow! Then perhaps one last swing through Diagon Alley to get last second items that might have been hard to find in Africa

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
Does anyone remember where the first year books are listed?  I was able to find a the posts relating to the books for third and fourth year.  But, they both say that we're using most of the same books as we had been in the previous years.  I was trying to find the title of our potions book and to see if it was written by Professor Clearwater.  I've tried looking in the Time Changes, In the Meantime, Diagon Alley, Potions Classroom, and the first OCC threads, but I'm not having much luck.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
I believe that for year one, I used the standard list of books from HP cannon, but I am not sure. I do not think I started to modify the books until second year. The only book I might have changed first year was the DADA book, but I can't seem to find any indication of this.

So, there is a post early in Diagon Alley with a list in it that seems to work by Evageline Kapplehoff that works.
