Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
I've a very good chance of making it to the five year mark.  If so, that'll put my chances of not getting it again back down to normal for my age.

Sorry my first vacation post is so long, but I thought her last days ever at Howleys merited it.

In reply to Severus Snape (msg # 117):

June. according the the Harry potter lexicon, school ends in the third or fourth week of june.  finals conclude in the second week of june and the last task of the triwizard tourney was like the 24th of june.

I do admit that I had to look it up, but I remember it being hot and talking about june getting on at the end of one of the books.

Ah, okay.  Hmm, not much time but I am still fine with the dates I provided.

For people's timign, we'll say it is the third friday of June when school lets out.  You all can look that up as I am notoriously bad at remembering what year it is!

In reply to Amanda Davis (msg # 104):

to hit another of your points, the idea that punishment at school leads to equal punishment at home only factors in when the kid is actually at fault.  IF my child got a detention for fighting, and I discovered that they had been fighting because that was the only way to come to someone else's rescue, no, there wouldn;t be any punishment at home.  THere are the kind of parents that support the kid regardless of what they did, but honestly, once he'd verified what had happened, I'd be going, "you gave her a month's detention?  she deserves an award for special services, you twit."

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
is there a magical equivalent of a cell phone?  Something parentts might give theier children to wear in case of emergency?  (of course those things would probably  be on every kid in Hogwarts by now)

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
The closest there is is the two-way mirrors like James Potter and Sirius Black used in school (and that Sirius later gave one to Harry in 1995).  They only come in pairs however so you can only talk to the other person; if they notice you in their mirror.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
::evil smile::  nicely done Athene.

Thought, I will admit that I am feeling a bit sorry for Headmaster Snape and Minister Malfoy now.

Honestly, Snape is working under a disadvantage that Dumbledore wasn’t.  It was a lot easier to get away with bad things happening to Harry, Herminone, and Ron.  Harry’s aunt and uncle would have been just as happy if he’d accidently died at school and certainly weren’t going to make waves if he got hurt.  Hermione was a muggleborn and probably realized that if she told her parents the truth about things that had happened at school she’d be withdrawn.  They probably got a very whitewashed version of the events, if they heard anything about them at all.  And, Ron’s family was part of the Order of the Pheonix and was quite firmly in Dumbledore’s pocket.

On the other hand, Headmaster Snape is dealing with protagonists who have families/guardians that are much more likely to learn the truth, get involved, and who aren’t necessarily in his corner.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
Thank you.  ^_____^

Um, James?  Rita's article on the escape didn't come out until the 15th of July.  He wouldn't still be in the air when it was published if he left for home on the 30th of June.

Oh, Mister GM!  When does Rita's article on the Ministry bru-ah-ah get published?

James has adjusted his post.

I have added a date to Rita's article.

As for the post I just put in announcements, I know ti has vague times in it.  that was so that you guys could figure out when to work them it.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
New first years?  In practice, sure, in truth, I will not be adverting for new players.  I am satisfied with the crew we have.

Third year: Amanda, Claire, Athene, Robert, James
Second year: Nik, Lloyd, Kiri

A good lot and some excellent players to boot.  I will, however, let anyone who wants play a second charcter in the grade their character is not in and off the list of kids at school.  But that offer has been on the table for a while now.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
Right, I am starting the write up for the next update.  Can people please collate and post here all the ends I am responsible for?  They are getting to be many and I need to have them in one place so I can see potentials for tieing some of them off...  This summer has had a lot of development in it and it has all been very good stuff for the game, but my poor brain is trying to juggle that and Graduate School.  I fear an imminent meltdown if I have to collate it all myself.

I don't think I have much.  Just the results of the PM conversation and whether what Lloyd said was enough to get at least part of what he wishes.  That and whether or not the twins are interested in what Lloyd suggests.

Re: Still yet another O.O.C.
I am only aware of two areas where I am awaiting a response:

1.  What the French wandmaker was able to tell Amanda about the unusual non-wooden wand.

2.  Whether or not Miles wrote back to the couple of letters Amanda sent him during the summer.
