..since  we have   some  RP in this area.. any RP with Morris or others..'at his shed' will be here..otherwise.. Morris  will be like any other character.. to be RPed  with where ever he happens to be...

 Description:

  Smallish Metal Building  on the Hanger  Dec a few  Yards behind the First Flight line  the door  faces  the area that is  the  walkways ( with red lines painted on the dec plates for people to walk, who aren't 'working' on the Hanger dec.

 Two windows. One faces the same as the door..the other  faces  so it  can see the fighters and had a decent view of the first two hanger bay doors..

 An old wooden desk with drawers on each side  and a PC  on the top. stands of  forms to be used, or sent off are  neatly stacked.

 Rows of  flight discs  are on the wall..pilot's  names and number  next to it..all are on stick tape..it is easy to see , where the higher  numbers are, have been replaced often.

 a rack of  Vidboards are there as well, labled for their  use... 6 file  cabinets line the wall that faces the  hull.

 a long  counter  is  under the window that faces the flight lines..  Two   'industrial sized' coffee machines are there.. as well as  a heat plate  for a kettle  for tea  /water  ect.. a box holds  packets for hot Coco, or a variety of teas. Sugar and  cream packets are there..and a small fridge has   Milk ( from the fame)  and water  bottles .

 One  the wall it shows  a Younger Black man with a T-90 Starfighter... the first aircraft ( human made) that could fight in or out of atmo..on the  bottom of the the picture was the " LT Morris scores his 20th kill over  China in Angel-China despute"

 Another Picture shows  a younger Rivets..and  a little bit lder Morris. standing with a LT   named Hack...." LT  Hack picks first two offciers for  The ESN Hermes...Lt Hack  waiting on official comfiramtion of promotion to Commander, has been given Command of the Hermes  that has been building its  Keel in New York...."

 sharp eyes would see the Cane Morris has in his left hand.. all three men are smiling, the ribs of the Hermes Keel in the backround

Stepping out of the elevator Justin heads to Captain Morrise's shed, with the aim of offering his assistance, in anything the Captain may need seeing to.

 The older  man looks  up with a slight   smile...That's good of you, Ensign. Not much to  do , really. Just sorting  out all the fighters  that can be launch  again, seems like, no one took many hits. We Bumped a pool pilot up to Latrulle's machine, since he won't be using it any longer

Learning that a pool Pilot was assigned to the until now relatively unexposed Fighter Justin nodded pleased by the Captains assignment. I suspect Howe will be relieved to have a Professional Pilot again

 There is a slight shake of his head.

  ..He still go the other Frenchie in there... we'll have to see what he has elarned   from his comrade's mistakes.

 He nods to the   Bid Board,..The LC was going to take the frenchman, But Howe  insisted he stay in his  flight  for now, we'll have to see if that's good or bad. Musette is going to have  to integrate himself into the  crew..he doesn't have  La Trulle's  mouth  around any longer.

   While Justin watched the  people getting the  new pilot's  ride, repainted, Morris looked up at him, over the   rim of his glasses.

  Approaching the   small  dark shed, Andrew  walk by the   Hermes Fighters, Orange suited crew members are crawling all over them... while welders and melders   flash and spark, and the  whine and grind, of  Hyper driver  and Hydro drivers work

  The mech shop seems about  empty. two riders  are   cleaning up  Mechs, that didn't seem to have seen action this  time around.

  outside the Shed are two boards..one is  digital  that has  the Hermes Fighter pilot's Kills

  The other  is Morris's Big board that  shows   the flights and who is in them

    Two crewman Leave  Morris's Shed as  Andrew approaches. The older  Blackman with  grey on  the side of his   dark hair, a cane rests  against the desk.

Alexander enters the shed looking for Andrew and if/once and approaches him.
"Are you captain Morris ? I am the new combat computer tech, my instructions where to come here and speak to you."

    Morris looked up, as if waiting for the salute. His   uniform was  crisp  his hat on a side  table.. the Sam Browne Belt  as polished as his boots.

    He had his hand out for left hand out for the Disc...Welcome  aboard.....  You will be assigned to the boarding Parties  and away teams... that is  amost always under the  Command Of SGT Major Spencer..... your  ...on board duties  will be in the SEC office , where  you can hone your Skills... Lt Beth Morrow is  our Lead COM tech Offcier and is assigned to SEC... try not  to make the girl angry..she's.....a bit touchy?..Hmmm?


  As he  Runs the  disc  through, he says,..says here.. you come right out of bootcamp..to a transportbase.... thier rules arn't much different  then here.... sidearm, bootknife at all times.. you may have one long arm  in your quarters... anything else you pick up or buy, you have to store in the QM's locker..

  Your Quarters will be ready shortly ( use Non-com thread) your  name  will be in the lighted box  above the key pad... make your password before you enter. Until then?  the LC is  having the 'after party on the Rec Dec.. you can get a free meal and drink on him...

Justin hobbled from the Med Teck facility and headed towards Morris's shed to give him a summary brief of Garrat's and His assignment, which he'd follow up with a detailed written report. Entering the shed he stood at attention albeit favouring his uninjured leg.

After taking her time to admire the neat line of fighters out in the hangar, taking a particular interest in the Hammer V's, Harriet would knock on the Shed's door before entering and saluting the room's occupants, though she assumed it was the older of the two officers she had been sent to report to "Ensign Lynch, reporting for duty"

 Morris held out his hand  for her  disc,..ahh.. welcome to the Hermes.... There is a Coffee pot, and hot water  for  tea.. and some  bottled water  and softdrinks in the  fridge....

  Copying the  disc on  one computer  as he   read the information on another,..so?... you are basicly new... your  hours have been kept  down?... That isn't surprising  after what i have seen at Admiral Sevente's Party.

..The  LC.... He normally takes the  newer pilots  for a bit...  and  then lets them go to  other flights once they get thier wings under them.

 I'll let you know   what machine is yours as soon as   i sift through the transfers...

Handing over her disc Harriet awkwardly shuffles her feet at the mention that she'd only had the bare minimum of hours whilst serving at Etna "I...um...made a rather poor career move involving my former CO so...um...yeah he didn't really like me" she quietly responded with the slightest of flushes on her cheeks, hoping that the captain would catch her drift so she didn't have to openly admit to what she'd done to upset him.

However her lack of hours didn't seem to be an issue as she was then introduced to Ensign Kase "wow...they make them big where you come from don't they?" Harriet joked as she shook Justin's hand, the guy was easily a foot taller than she was "It's a pleasure to meet you Justin, call me Harry...or Harriet if you insist on being formal" though the glint in her icy blue eyes said that the latter would probably be a mistake "So tell me Justin, what's the LC like? I'd hate to upset the guy on my first day"

  Morris   smiled a  tight  smile as he  handed her back  the disc.....aye... that seems  to be a problem no matter  where you are at in  The Black..or how many years  you go down  the  trail...

 He   adds  as he looks at his  screens,..The  LC...is somewhat involved in an op, right now.. when he gets  back to The Hermes I will talk to him about  Your Posting...  Enisgn Kase is in B  Flight.. he  can take your  Down to look over the   aircraft

 Looking at his s creen   and   splitting that to another  he adds,we have a  few pilots transfering, and we are Movong  folks around... We had a test Pilot here... for .. a very brief  period.. She  Flew  the New  Bee, that was  made and tested  on Fuji   and the Training  Grounds...... we  might send  The Bee off to the LG  until more   test flying can be done?... If you are interested in The Bee, Justin might show it off to you.... If you want to Fly a Dart, we'll have to see how the 'shell game' works out, as we move  pilots  around  for the sake of Transfers.

Justin noted Harry's suggested name preference, nodding an acknowledgement. Her choice of name revealed simething of her character, espechially the choice of the masculine. Quietly waiting for any other questions from Harry or comments from Captain Morris, before escorting Harry to the flight bays.

"Oh...well I can't ask for fairer than that" Harry replied as she was informed that the LC would see her later once he was finished with his OP. She was also quietly relieved to find the Captain understood why she'd asked for the transfer and that it didn't seem to be a problem, with him suggesting that Justin took her into the hangar to check out the fighters "Sure, sounds like a plan to me" she said eager to take a look at the long row of fighters she'd seen whilst leaving the transport.

She quietly listened as the pilot situation was explained to her and that she'd have to wait and see what she'd get unless..."Wait you're saying that I could... fly the Bee?...even with my low hours?" she asked in a surprised voice. The prospect of flying an experimental craft was daunting but...the opportunity was almost too good to miss.

Justin gave Harry a slight smile pleased she had been offered the roll; however based on what he'd just heard she'd need to put in some extra work to get upto speed. Anticipating that the possibility he be assigned to mentor her until Shadow was free Permission for myself and Ensign Lynch to get some additional flight hours Sir. he requested.

  Morris's  eyes shifted towards   Justin, there was a slight  curl of a smile on the left side of hos   Mustache'ed lip.

  ..ensign Kase seems to  enjoy  trying to log extra  hours.... But when we are in port?.. its a bit  hard.... I'm sure  you saw the  Fleet scattered between  Enta  and  its  two planets... we have  shuttles transports   and  Enta's own ship flying around out there.... I am afraid, Unless you can get the LC to sign off on it... you may have to  make do with Sims.

Justin appeared slightly deflated as he tried not to let the Captains answer bother him. He was certain the LC would want Harry to chalk up more hours; however that was generally under his discerning eye. Sending the LC a request when  he's othetwise occupied may be a career decision. Having made enough of those already Justin wasn't about to try.  Aye, aye, Sir.

"Never mind, me and you will just have to go out and play another time" Harry spoke with a sympathetic smile, having seen the look of disappointment on Justin's face upon being told that extra hours wasn't an option. Truth be told she'd love to get out there and rack up some more hours but orders were orders and she didn't want to cause any trouble just yet "Come on, let go and take a look at those fighters" Harry said with a cheerful smile as she followed Justin through the door.

   Harry ( and Justin?) could see Morris sipping his coffee while  a Dark Haired fellow, who looked like he  had a rough time of it.. stood there in  bloodied Dress white pants,  and a  Hermes T-shirt and  Holding a bundle of  clothes under his  arm The younger man was only  an ich or two taller the  Morris.

It was just as Harry was nearing the Shed that Captain Morris and a young, dark haired officer who looked as if he'd just gone a few rounds in a boxing ring stepped outside, with the young officer having no doubt just received a reprimand for fighting from the Captain, not that that was any of her concern.

Stopping in front of Captain Morris, Harry would salute the two men before addressing the Captain in her posh English accent "Captain Morris, I wondered if I could ask you a favour and leave my kit bag here whilst Ensign Kase shows me around the ship? Also...I'd like to put my name forward to fly the Bee, it just feels like too good of an opportunity to pass up...I promise I'll come up with a more compelling argument when I finally get to meet the LC" she said, finishing with a nervous laugh, figuring that she had nothing to lose by making the request. If the LC said no then so be it, she'd be just as happy to fly a Dart or even a Hammer, just so long as she was actually flying this time around "I just hope he's in a good mood when I meet him, I'd hate to make a bad first impression"

  Morris  took a sip of his coffee and looked at the   officer, who looked at  Harry, then back to Morris.  He turned back to look at Harry And Justin  As Morris spoke.

  ..Well, Ensign Lynch... you may put yu kit here... but when Ensign Kase shows you  to your quarters, your  name  should be on the light up box outside the door... you'll be able to enter and set your pass word... be aware.. should SEC feel the need to enter your quarters.. you will be COMed ans they will over  right the door lock....other then  that? only you may get in, with out an ESN over ride.

   The officer  smiled a  bit as his eyebrow went up a bit.

  ..If you are certain  you want to  Fly the be.. i'll set it up on the board.... I would advise you to got to the Sims and run some passes there to get used to the controls... we'll be shipping  out   the day after  tomorrow  which is really... he looks at the ship's clock, 38 hours from now.....38 hours.... and.. where ever  we are going, there is going to be  combat.. Once  we cast off. we might be able to get you in the air for a bit... but I wouldn't count on just that...

 ..As for, if the LC will be in a good mood?  why don't you ask him...LC   Shadow?... This  is   Ensign Harriet Lynch....'Harry"... he hid his smile in his coffee mug.

 ..Welcome  Aboard  Ensign.... hope you last longer the most new pilots...some tend to ship  out right away..others... well....  he shifted his bundle and offers his  hand.

Justin hovered near the entry as he saluted both the Captain and LC.

Harry could feel the blood draining from her face as the battered young officer before her was revealed to be her commanding Officer; LC Shadow.

With her mind in a mild state of panic it was all she could do to shake his hand before responding in a rather faint voice "a pleasure to be on board sir" Don't pass out! Whatever you do don't pass out! a tiny voice in the back of her mind quietly spoke to her over and over again. Ok...so this wasn't ideal, but it wasn't like she'd insulted the guy, and he hadn't been wearing his jacket so she could be forgiven in not knowing his rank.

It was with these thoughts in mind that Harry was able to recover some measure of control, nervously clearing her throat before speaking in far calmer voice than she'd managed before "Apologies I was expecting someone a little...um...older" she said, praying that he really was in a good mood and would accept her excuse for not recognising him before carrying on "38 hours? Best I find my quarters and get on the simulator then...see how many hours I can cram in before we arrive" so much for a good first impression!

  The LC's  half smile  grew  just a bit,..relax Ensign Lynch Every one is new , when they first get here.... how new you want to stay.. is up to you...

 Before he  could say anymore a few Pilots were passing through.. some  gave an easy salute, some  Snapped to. More for Morris , then  the LC.

  One of the had a  dress uniform on that was only slightly mussed,  a darkhaird  woman, whose hair was  well past her shoulders  and 'see through' blue eyes. Her  EMS dress whites  were kind of messy as well.

  The  Male stopped and grinned,Hey, Shadow... They  do a number on you?

  With a Chuckle, the  LC replies,....they had  numbers..  Me, Roy and Lyri held line untilo  Rivets. Kase and the others arrived...

 is eyes  looked over two,..looks like you bumped into a waiter..... Raven, looks like she  traded a few punches...

  I think Steele  hit someone, once.... i lost track when i dove in...I saw Shade  dive in.... tough kid....

  Ensign Lynch?  This is  LT Steele he has C  flight..Hmammer  Va s. This   Lady here is  LT  Raven from the EMS Harvester .. The  Harvester has been with us , since   the Hermes left earth.

 ..Hey...LC.. this duel thing with  that Captian....um...

It would appear that she'd gotten away with it, though whatever Shadow had been about to say was soon forgotten as a group of pilot's came walking by with Lieutenant’s Steele and Raven stopping to talk with the LC "A pleasure to meet you both" Harry said with a easy smile and a salute as she was introduced to the pair.

It was at this point that the conversation on moved to that of a duel that would be taking place between Shadow and... An Etna Captain?

Listening as the three of them talked and joked about the brawl and its resulting duel and the wagers that would take place, Harry couldn’t help but feel a small measure of dread as she put two and two together with it being later confirmed by Shadow himself.

With the LC set to leave Harry would quickly speak up so as to catch his attention "LC Shadow some advice from someone who sadly knows the Captain all too well" she said, taking a step towards him and lowering her voice to a near whisper "Captain Penelli doesn't like to lose and hates being made a fool of, that I know from personal experience...don't turn your back on him even for a second, and more importantly don't linger anywhere his friends might find you" being a girl had bought her a small measure of protection from such treachery but Shadow would find no such luck on that front.

Stepping back to a more comfortable distance and returning her voice to its usual volume, Harry would salute the LC before continuing to speak in a cheerful voice "Best of luck sir, Ensign Kase would you be kind enough to show a girl to her quarters?...I have a hot date with a simulator"

   Kay smiled  a actual  smile,..Thanks you for that,   Ensign... he vainished  like  a Mull meatball after i hit  him the first time.., he tried some  ...kick-thing.. i'm sure he has better then that>,, he's just not used to getting hit  back?.... I'm going to make feel every hit.... Spencer's got  my back and we'll be in my house this  time....

 .... Rec Dec is the place to hang out.. its  right by the field... The Pulse is  across the way, Nect to the occicer's  club.. good place  to go for  ..quiet.. dinners...

  He  strode off towards the Elevator  .. A Muti colored haired  woman came out   of the SEC and was  headed towards the elevator  as well.

Flex Time

At Shadow's mention of The Pulse being a good place for "Quiet Dinners" and amused smile would appear on the blonde Ensigns face "Thank you sir, I will bare that in mind should I ever find someone to share a quiet meal with" she responded before bidding him farewell and rejoining Ensign Kase for her tour of the ship "well I'm ready when you are, lead on"

Alexander hands the disk over to Captain Morris as he stands near the door. Alexander then says to the Captain "Yes Sir, Qualified and trained as a Heavy Gunner. Learnt at the Academy before being transferred to the Alexander Graham Bell."

 Morris   smiled  as he  ran  the disc into his   desk top. It began to  Copy the Disc,

 ..The Admiral..That si to Say, Admiral Hack is Busy right now, he is also with  SGT Major Spencer... The SM  is in charge of the Aaway teams, so he will be your Direct  Commander, more or less.... we have three styles of the heavy weapons.... The  Heavy Pulse gun... works off power Cells , as you know... easier to carry an extra  Power cell then an Ammo box.

 ... we have the  Belt  fed  , Hard Ammo weapons... 30  and 60 cals for  troopers... 50 calls mounted  on  the   Duce , assault shuttles

 ..then?  there is the  encaspulated  Pulse rounds...  the burn of the puse , with the projectile  flight  and aimign factor....

 ..The SM, will let gunner  pick thier  own weapons when they go out...we have   3 Heavy Gunners.. it wil be nice to be able to baleance out teams with another one here..

 He looked out the Little window as  a tall BArrel chested  Officer  was shouting orders to the orange suited   Dec  crew... we have  another day  in Etna , before  we cast off... we'll be headed to the  Free Station Anzio... we  expect.... opposition ... so?   I suspect you should be ready.

 Once they were  in the shed, he, again offered   tea and  softdrinks.. as he  fixed a tea  fro himself.

 He then  asked for her Disc once more  as he loaded up the information...now then, Ensign?... what  is it you think youc an do  for the Hermes....  we saw the  reports..but i want to hear from you?

"Thank you, sir." She said as she accepted the repast. She closed her eyes as she sipped the tea. "I never thought I would take such a liking to tea."

Her eyes opened and hardened. "I think you can see my scores there, Captain. Top of my class at the Academy, fast tracked to the Blue Angels, Double Ace in a Day, Infiltration, scores high enough to win me a slot in what you call Sniper School. You can walk from Terra to Luna across the Demon bodies I've dropped."

In anyone else such comments would seem mere braggadocio but she says them in as matter a fact a tone as can be used.

"And then there are these," She indicated the wings. "I'm attempting to put together a new type of warfare, a new paradigm in ground fighting, sir. What can I do for the Hermes? I can kill Demons. Over and over. I'm a Double Ace and at my age only bound to get better. I'm a Scout-Sniper, pilot, forward observer, and I make a mean pasta which I took a liking to in the Academy. You give me a chance to do what I do best, Sir, and I'll pile up more Demon bodies and destroy more Demon ships."

She smiled. "Plus I'd love to learn how to fly this massive ship. Capital Ship Piloting is one of my dreams, Sir."

   Morris  smiled  as he watched the  screen while he handed the disc back.

   MOrris chuckles  a  bit  as he   straightens  His tunic,...well.... Let me Give you the Rundown of operations here. Now..  you cannot be in  two places  at one time, so, I will assume   The LC and  I will get together to find a Ride for you...and the SM will have his uses  for you.... Some of our  more....dark...missions  may not be able to use you, outright, But you might be able to aid in some way?

  ... Once you get settled  in your  quarters,  we may have to  have you try  out    the seats in a  Dart or HAmmer Va. See  if those  wings   will fit , or..if  we can customize the   seat,,,

"I have yet to learn the art of being in two places at once but it is on my 'to do' list, sir. I'll inform you if I achieve mastery." Teela replied with a small smile.

"I'm able to, with some pain and effort, to shrink the wings down so as to not limit my effectiveness as a combat pilot, sir. I just need to spread them to their normal resting state afterwards lest they cause cramping in my back and shoulders."

  Morris  Nods   with a Grunt,well?...  we have a football field where the   Ship's team of  American Football play,  You  might  be  able to  swing around in there...It won't be long, before  we are in action again.

 ..Now?  Fleet Regs  say you have to have a sidearm and a Boot Knife....at all times.. do yo have those items, or  do we need to see the QM ?

"I would be most grateful for any chance I get to stretch my wings and fly, Sir. As for weapons I have my sidearm and knife in my equipment bag." She looks down at her feet. "Angels are similarly geared but I didn't wish to report to a new command without knowing regulations about meeting Senior Officers wearing a sidearm."

She reaches for the bag. "If I may, Captain? I don't wish to be out of uniform on my first day."

   Morris Takes his  Cup over to the smallish sink to wash it out, hanging it up on  the hooks.

  ..I assume you need   custom armor... If you do not have it,  we'll need the QM  to see you, Give them time  to  make alterations?

 He looks at the  Bags,..if you have it?.. we  can just proceed to your Quarters.

"I have custom armour, sir. I've had the wings long enough to have gone into combat and despite my people's general - distate - ror what I've done, they grudgingly offer as much assistance as possible. They may not say it but I know there are those in Command who are watching with great interest. My weapons are in my bag here and the armour in the carrying case one of the deckhands unloaded."

She stands up and comes to an easy posture displaying proper military bearing whilst waiting on him for further instructions.

   He  Nods  , Grabbing His  Cane. when they step out of the Shed, he  waves to a crewman,..have some one Fetch the Ensign's chest  up to her   Quarters..eh?.. That's a Good chap....

 Morris  straightens his  Sam Browne Belt  as they head  up the Ramp, Once  more he uses his cane to Point to things,..That is Med tech... the lower part is  for Combat injuries, the Upper part is for Civies...

 ..That is  SEC,  and down the   passageway  is Bio Tech, and the   Tech labs... This  Elevator   will take you to each Dec... You can  follow  the signs  and  such to get to the Rec Dec..  Most Folks  will help if you ask...

Teela nods to the crew member and follows the Captain. She pays very close attention to the tour he gives her and nods to each of the pilots on the lift, saluting the LT. as she does.

Making their way to the Shed, Justin glanced through one of its windows to check if the Captain was inside. Seeing him seated at his desk scowling at one of the three Screens he had on his table. Reaching the door Justin Knocked on it before entering. On hearing the familiar Enter Justin held open the door for An'teela, then followed her inside, snapping the Captain a smart Salute.

An'teela nods at Justin's courtesy and stands at attention as well, saluting the Captain and waiting for his command for them to Stand Down.

  The Captain turns  to them, and Offers   an informal  salute, that still manages  to look text box.

Teela stands at ease and lets Juntin take the lead here since he knows the man and can phrase his request in a better fashion.

Justin takes his ease, noting that An'teela decided to let him make the proposal. Captain Morris, As Ensign An'teela has been reassigned would it be possible to undertake a impromptu patrol of Etna area to allow the Ensign to familiarize herself with the Dart or Hammer she will be allocated?

Acknowledged Sir Justin replied giving the Captain a salute doing an about turn and promptly exiting the shed... Once outside he gives An'teela a half smile I've a ongoing process with the Captain I present him with the possibility of allowing me to get additional flying time, and he comes up with ways of circumventing my request. I thought this time I might have him, as you heard he resorted to the SO Patrol rebuttal. giving a shrug No harm, no foul. Looks like we go by shuttle to Etna.

Teela saluted the Captain and left the Shed with Justin, laughing as he explained the setup the two of them had. "Well I thought for sure you had him on that one but I imagine he's a canny one. Shuttle works for me since once we get to Etna there will be much more fun flying to be had."

Yep he's the wriggly one, which is why he's got the bars on and I'm still a base grade. agreed Justin as the pair headed along the deck to the shuttle bays.

"I'm a Lt. Commander back in the Angel Elite but here I'm an Ensign. We'll work our way up the ranks, Ensign Kase." She said with a smile. "One day I'll be Captain An'Teela and you Commander Kase."

She nudged him with her shoulder. "Look ahead and smile. You've made a friend today and we deploy in 18 days. With deployment comes opportunities for advancement. One day we'll be the...wriggly? ones that Ensigns come to to try and get one over on us and we'll tell them no."

"Don't worry, once I reach my lofty height I'll put a good word in for you. Being a Captain has to have some perks, right? What good are they if I don't put them to use?"

Thanks but been there done that... I'd prefer to say a base grade, far, far less politicking to put up with; and much simpler... Its far easier to get follow directives like Kase go here, kill that... Yep much less to contend with.

   He makes sure to repeat verbatum what she said about the ship full of captives and other evidence making the detention and treatment of her as a war criminal legal, citing the names of the troopers present for this damning evidence so they can confirm it.

    Joseph gets very serious at that and looks directly at Shadow. "Off the record, The bounty request didn't necessarily come from the fleet.  I felt shooting her dead in front of station security might not look good on other accidents that happened last night, and feel that there is still a chance to intercept the ship she spoke of.

   She's a peice of work that one.  She shoots like a marksman, better than me and that's pretty good.  I don't distract easy and she was very successful.  If there is no chance of catching the ship with the civilians aboard;  having an accident where she doesn't survive might be prefferred to letting her sweet talk some guards into shooting themselves.

When the Captain looks at Duke with a tiny smile, he looks down sheepishly, feeling guilty for not coming to see him sooner.   To Duke's credit and he hoped it showed was the fact that he had been on the edge of his seat, ready to spring up and state his name rank and serial number at full attention for the officer.   The only reason why he hadn't was, because it was Joseph's show.

  Morris looked at Duke,...well?  PO?   what have  we got from you , then..?

   As he  waits  for Duke  he  looks at his screen out of the corner of his  eye..a fighter  pilot's  skill to see   without turning his head,...Mr  Macpherson.. there  are  two Boundties   on Miss   Nona?..One  from   Fuji  and one from The Sanri Colony in the Delta  Quad?... Comes to a total of  1500 Creds?.. how do you want that?

Duke will jump up at last and state his full name and rank, along with his serial number at full attention.   Standing ramrod still and straight, with hands down his sides, he'll state that Mr. MacPherson brought him along to get more of a presence with my fellows sir.   And since the Captain wasn't here and I had checked in with Capt. Rivets sir, I thought it was okay.   Also I am ready for work whenever you're ready sir, I just have to give Mr. MacPherson his Kukri back and change into a proper uniform sir.

    Captain Morris's   upper   lips  raised the   mustache  , just a bit. his eye  raised   without moving his head to Loo at Duke.

Ensign Teela made her way at haste through the chaos of a capital ship and fleet ready to get underway and found Capt. Morris's shed. She knocked on the door and waited for him to answer.

    A Groundscrewman   stopped  and  called  across to her , on his way to the Flight lines,

   ..Ensign!..... He  is    but the  Second Hanger Bay doors..they are setting up for VIPs...

She nodded and started walking that way. "Thank you, Petty Officer. I haven't been assigned a duty station for the the underway so I'll head there and find him."

She made haste to the hangar bay doors the crewman indicated and started looking for Captain Morris.

 He Put  her  Disc in first to save her time. As it   downloaded, he  fished out  a passcard for   her Rooms

 He  took off  the billed Officer's    Came  and Laid it  on 'it place' on a file cabinet,  the  white hair on his temples, stark against the darkbrown skin.

 ..You'll be on the  offcier's dec.. closer to the   elevators.. smaller rooms you know...  the higher up you get, the more  room...This card will get you in, then you set you  password on the keypad.... I must warn you SEC can enter   whether you wish them   to or not, if   SEC deems  there is a problem... you are allowed one Long arm in your  quarters... anything else  must be  kept in the QMs  with your name one...

 ..It appears you will be  flying the Diamond  again tomorrow... should be  another day of bad  Business..hmmm? I suggest, you get cleaned up.. have a Bit of a bite on the  Rec Dec, then see to some sleep...wouldn't hurt to get to  know the lads and lasses a bit too.

She followed him from the hangar "Thrashing? Sir.  Did I make a mistake?" Her Southern drawl apparent.  In her neck of the woods 'thrashing' was what you got when you did bad.  If it was absolutely horrible, you got your 'ass whooped'.  She just wanted to be clear about it.
Walking in the office she looked about.  "A wonderful selection ...Devon Fine, Twinnings, Harrogates.  You favor the British black teas.  So do I, especially the Irish blends." Odd for an obvious American, but times as they are has made many more international if not interplanetary in tastes.  She moved some a bit and found one Irish blend with orange.  She did not brew a cup but did pocket the packet.  "Thank you, Sir.  I'll enjoy it with my meal" she gave a polite smile as he continued and finally produced a card for her quarters.  Taking the card she saw it had the address for it.  She nodded as he spoke of getting a shower and a meal, and getting to know others.  "I plan on that Sir, but if I may ask?  My gear.  I was told leave where it when getting off the transport here and shuffled planetside for duty in a hurry.  Is it in storage or my quarters already?  No sense taking a well needed shower if I have to put dirty clothes back on"  She'd kill for a clean pair of underclothes.

She waited for a response before leaving.  Apparently they held her things in a locker storage next to the shed.  Producing ID she retrieved her things and moved out of the hangar area proper and to the elevator and towards her quarters.

Knocked out the Cannons   and the Gun Cams... there were two   Bug aircraft   coming in on  the Armstrong's  Hanger Dec..  so  I set  my  craft at full  speed  and Podded out.. the  fighter  hit  the   two Bugs  and blew them Up... an  Armstrong , Shuttle brought me  in..but  didn'[t have another ride  for me.... so I stayed on thier hanger  dec   to help repel boarders..

 The Girls smiled  as he told the story...

Approaching the Shed Justin noticed Frans and Ekles their arms linked with that of a crisp looking fellow they were escorting into the Shed. This should be good he thought to himself moving quietly to the entry and standing just outside the door. To wait for the Captain to address their enquiry, situation or whatever this would be. Justin's eyes nearly popped from their sockets at What he heard the Newby request. Fortunately his training prevented him from bursting out in laughter at  Besserman's chutzpah. When the Ladies exited the Office, Justin gave each a wink, as he stood waiting his turn to impose on the Captain's valuable time. If they paused he quietly suggest they film the delivery and response for Posterity.

Justin set to work processing the mound of papers, after two hours he took a break. Making a mug of hot Cocoa for himself and Coffee for Captain Morris. Taking the opportunity to talk about Fleet/Squadron Actions, from a historical perspective, such as the Fmallin Incursion, or the Vartomn Raid.

  Morris  sat  Back putting  down the  marker that he was  using to highlight   target  areas, or  areas that needed to  be reconed .

 He took the  Coffee, and   sipped it, asked for another   bit of sugar the  say back.  As  yu know?  I got  all my Kills  on Earth.. Flying  Tom Cat Hammers  off   aircraft carriers.. in teh First organized ESN.. not much  to speak of  back then... nockign  down other jets and helicopters  used   by the forerunners of teh EDT.. and EVOLs... as well as  Countryoes  who resented the Angels... The Oil lords, put in thier place but   sustaniable Powercellls.. South Americans losing    Oil  creds, and   drug flow gettign   taken out , rather  HArshly, by Angel Strike teams.... Others?  Like China  and Russia,  did not like the fact that they were treated like any other Country.. as they exepected to  be equals  with hte United States, Canada ,Australia,  and   the UK... so they rebelled  as  well..  Russia  was first toc ave ..  follwed  By South Africa...most of South  of  America have   scrossed over.. save for  Columbia, Venezuela  and  Brazil

 .. I drift... I sometimes do.... I was    fighting   Chinese when   Fmallin started  on MArs… I was   to have my own fighter  wing on Mars when that started, but it  didn't last long..little  did we know, it was Just a demon  probe operation...

 ..I got there a day or so after it ended.... Back luck on my parft..but  i got to fly the  'new' Hammer 1..., they weren't  made to  fight  demon fighters... For everyone of theirs  we shot  Down, thay shot  down 10 of ours.......Then the VArtomn raid   came  on the  southwestern Hemisphere of MArs.. one of the  'better' terra- forms colonies  we had.....  I  shot  down  2 of those   demon monsters.. before I was  torched,, Lost My leg , as the Pod  didn't  work like it was supposed to do...  fought from by wreck,, for an hour until i passed out.... woke Up in Med Tech  with  hardware  from the knee down... and  My flight career ..ended.. when I  claimed the  2  demons..  there were  refused, as  no one saw them go down By me and  My wingman.. and she was killed right before i was hit. he    smiled  softly,..Hammer  IIs were sent to  MArs and Moon Base  shortly after.. they had   Gun cams..less  armor, but bigger   powerplants.. that's when  things  started to  change... I was going to be invalided out of the servcie...But some Young LT who was going  doing some   good things on MArs, asked  for  an Adjutant .. and  I accepted.... never looked back after that.

Justin quietly sat listening to Captain Morris'es account of his prior service history, and the Vartomn raid. It was good to learn a valuable part of this event, even if it carried this unfortunate end to such a promising career. Justin considered the raid from a Strategic outlook and decided to look at this and other actions in both isolation and as a compilation of the Space and Surface actions to date. A quick assessment of the variables indicated the result would provide an aid to the Action outcome. Draining his mug Justin continued processing the docs from the in tray which he cleared  in eighty minutes. Making another later coffee and hot cocoa he asked the Captains thoughts about the requirements for a Battle Plan Application to facilitate the planning process.

    Missy was still talking shop with Rivets, the possibility of down time services in exchange for fleet quality parts, but she was also interested in him.  She turned to Morris overhearing the story.  "Ever thought of grafting a cloned leg?  Porcine medical technology has advanced far with the adition of adaptable earth genetic patterns."

   Morris Started  at the appearance  of  Missy and Rivets.

  Ah..well.. MS  Jagger?  That may be... But i  cannot  afford the time off  for the  proceedure  , and Rehab?  I can Fly an aircraft... maybe  even do well?.. but, there is   that reaction time for the  Rudder, and  Flaps.. a half  a heart beat   could be the end of me..or worse?.. Could be the end of my wingman..I could  not have that.. I used to take a HAmmer out, as we  travelled....haven't had  a lot of time to do that.

 Rivets    added,..the parts?.. well... you'd  have to see what's  available  when yer doin' the askin'... our giggest need  is    Cannon barrels  and  chain links  for the  cannons..the  wings and  such.. we have ta  hope there's  enough on hand, or the  forge boys and techs  MAke them.... Justin gave Rivetts a welcome smile and nod. He'd not been introduced to the Merc that accompanied the Captain and based on previous instances and behaviour from her only acknowledged her with a polite nod.

 However you presence is part of thie life blood of this deck so you would need to be back in that chair as soon as the healing process is done."  She types something into her note pad, "With the Angel food in your system and angel medicine availableyou are no longer past your prime and tissue restructuring is in high gear so we could have you in that seat about a week after the graft."  She smiles, Like I said, our medicine has advanced since we have started using DNA from earth so the heroes of the delta fleet might as well reap the benifits.  I already started them cloning a new pituitary gland for Rivets off some DNA I got from him after the last party." She supresses a smile.

    Missy turns back to rivets and makes some notes as if the previous comment haven't been made... "So If I cross train my line people as suport in the machine shop I can keep them working in the down time.  Barrel production isn't hard and we can invest time in tempering that will make our products preferred.  Chain links can be mass produced and need be only of moderate quality to serv well."


    She taps her lip with her finger, "And if you can get me the plans on your torpedo ships I might be able to come up with some cost effective upgrades so they can keep up with their escorts better...if I ever get any down time."

 he prints out the Numbers...and passed a sheet to Justin  and then  nods  to Rivets   for when Justin is  done.... those   transports  will be  put  to good  use... I Imagine the VAmpic  war Vessels  will be used  either  at Anzio, or Aqra...

Justin takes the printout, slipping back into the chair he taps away on the keyboard. Adding data from the sheet to various displays he calls up. These sums combined with those brought in earlier are sure to make someone in the Demon Consortium smart big time. The boost to Delta's bottom line is to say the least robustly healthy... he glances at both Captains giving them both a broad grin. It'll be interesting to see Hack's response to this Budget report. The additional Prize Vessels also boost the Fleets Capabilities. Hopefully there'll be sufficient qualified Personnel to utilise these acquired resources.

Xyran was able to keep pace easily given his fit condition. Xyran slowly approached the two Occui after he heard Finnes speak, "Thank you for LT" he said politely before following them to the Rec Dec.

The Admiral Nuked thier world.. but  left the southern Hemisphere  untouched  except  for   shelling fleet.. but he saved  alot of the  Young ones. allowing them to go to the Delta  Colonies... The APF  now has  techs on Hyria, helping them recover.

"Crafty isn't something I've noticed much with the Largan.  I got two to work with some freinds as civilians.  Their help and the help of some mind readers showed us that dominance rather than brains runs their society, and as a species they are mostly hopeless.  Since you left weve had two on the Hermes die.  Yes Raja was one of them.  I kinda miss the lizard though the Larg that recently adopted us probably fights better than a whole plattoon."

Justin thought for a moment then dropoed his head in resignation. There was noting Justin wanted to say especially since Morris conceded this piece of crap's whining  demands and undermined any authority. Besserman had engaged the first two before he reached the ones that would have comming in on their rear. This to all extents may have resolved as Besserman related. Thank you Captain, I have nothing to add. he replied a glint of sadness in his eye. His effectiveness as a combat pilot was now in question. As just proven by a newbie in a combat situation. Guess it's time to apply for an instructing roll and head back to the any base that would be prepared to take on a washout.

As Besserman and Case were leaving, Roy walked up, a folder in hand.  He gave Justin a nod...totally disregarded Besserman, not even giving him the satisfaction of a look of disdain...and knocked on the frame of Morris' open doorway.  "Sorry, Captain...do you have a minute?  There's a situation I need to discuss with you."

Henry sat quietly and listened. It was probably just as well that Kase and Besserman had not conducted their attack at maximum efficiency, they would have done even more irrepairable damage to the fragile alliance he was trying to help build.

  Morris looked  at  Roy  and gestured to the    coffee   , teas  and other drinks,..Certainly...SGT MAJ.. please   get a refreshment  and   speak..  Doctor Christie   is hear on some  task of   the Vampic / ESN  orders?...  what have you got?

Henry sipped his tea and bided his time.

Roy stepped inside, pulling the door closed behind him, and slid the folder across Morris' desk as he sat down.  "Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll pass on the refreshments..."  He'd have been wiser to order the steak meal he had before he'd downed a few glasses of sangria...he wasn't inebriated, but his body wasn't exactly hapoy with him at the moment.

"When the Admiral ordered Besserman to go fly the patrol with Lt. Case, I had Beth pipe their comms into Security.  Besserman's a...person of interest, let's call it...so I had reasons for tracking the whole thing."  He reached across the desk, and flipped open the report...which included a transcript of the radio traffic, with highlighted sections.

"I realize flight operations have their own protocols...especially in the Delta Fleet...but there are a few points of serious concern."  He pointed to one section, explaining, "The mission was clearly under command of Lt. Case...but throughout it, Besserman displyed borderline insubordination or even outright ignored orders."  He flipped a page, and pointed out another highlighted section.  "I realize that we've only just encountered the Vampics, so it's unreasonable to expect Besserman to be able to recognize their ship designs...but his inability to recognize it as NOT an allied vessel is concerning.  We've already had one friendly-fire incident within the Fleet recently, and that was excusable because the Occui failed to flag their location...but Besserman was ready to start shooting when he still thought their target was Nivarian."

He pointed to another section of the transcript...there were long lines of text, headed by 'LT CASE' or 'VAMPIC PILOT'...but the highlighted sections were all very short lines, headed by 'LT BESSERMAN', and all saying the same thing..."(largely unintelligible)".  "Besserman clearly lost his head out there.  He ignored the mission commander, and more importantly, he ignored the directions of a more experienced pilot, who probably got more kills during his short stint in the EVOLs than Besserman has in his whole career.  I can't speak for how these things are handled for the flyboys...but if Besserman was a Marine, he'd be confined to quarters pending a full investigation, if not in the brig.  I can't speak to his skills as a pilot...I'm totally unqualified for that...but regarding his ability to integrate into a fighting unit, the man's a hazard, and we're lucky he only cost us some downtime on two fighters.  Case should, by all rights, be dead right now...because Besserman decided it was more important to score a couple of kills than to counter the fighters moving aggressively to intercept them.  As far as my expertise allows me to pass judgment on this, the man's a liability."

He sighed, and leaned back, and added, "And were it not for extenuating circumstances, I'd recommend sending him to the Delta Colonies as a sewage specialist, since he's so full of it.  But there is a very real reason to keep him in the Delta Fleet...just, not in a cockpit."  He steepled his fingers, weighing how much more he could safely say.

  Morris nodded to Henry,..  You're in the UNit  , Henry.. so  do not be afraid to take an active interest..hummmm?... Just..nothing outside the door  Unless it  is  brought up by someone   who knows...

 He listens to   Roy  as he  studies the sheets.     reading  carefully   what   Roy has Pointed out.      He  sits  Back  and   Opens on Vidboard while the Other  Disc  Goes into  his desk top.....now.. watch..  i suppose   you two , could  call this.. the View behind the curtain.. its  rather  simple  this time around..eh?   Just two gun cams  to watch... but..... and keeping in mind the    COM  chatters..


 Our big mistake, might have  been, Not calling Shadow, or Howe.. or Steele  to take  him out.  But  Kase is a rather  eager lad, always  wanting to take the patrol  and what not?.. so.. we sent him out....

 ..now?   Kase  lets the fellow take  lead.. which.. was   a best.. very foolish... even you blokes on the   ground, don't let  greenies  tale the   lead   eh?  wot?

 ..now ..this?...  Besserman, either doesn't know how to read  the  screens, or  didn't bother to look... ..right...here... he makes his attack a heart beat after the  other  two Bandits  appear.. yes.... he  does    batter one up..not good  enough for a Kill though.. the second  one took his measure rather  sharply


..in truth..  they would  , most likely have... downed  both of the first two fighters... the second  two would have  had thier lead in shots... Depending on  how they handled it?..   we  might be short a  pilot... Kase   rolls the  dice... goes after the second two.. he does  claim  a Kill ,   and the second one   dishes out  some Punishment of his Own.... when it was   all sorted out..  Kase   collected  2  kills.. Besserrman . none.. but two aircraft  and three  Pilots  escaped  from the field..

 Morris  sat back and sipped  some tea... Your  report , and Mine  will reflect the same  conclusion?  if there would be   anything weighing  against KAse, it would be allowed Besserman to take the lead... and... Not  listening to the Vampic's offer....

 ..on that note?  I will  add  the comment, that i would not have trusted the Vampic either....  I will shortly send the    reports, as well as  yours   to the  Admiral.. witht eh reccomendation  that Besserman is grounded  at  least  for the Moment.. I also will suggest.. The LC, as his   commanding Officer  , has  a chat with him.

"Understood, Captain Morris," said Henry, formally.

He watched the footage with interest.

"That's why I'm here. The Vampic offer is real, but it is likely to spark off a civil war back home. Their cap ship has been deliberately crewed with the, uh, dissident faction, the ones who want to stop the abuse of other sentients, who want to come over to our side."

Henry spoke earnerstly.

  Morris nods,..and?   you know his  from... a Vampic Captive?  We have to measure  her  words, with   the  scale  of what is in it for her, as opposed to the rest of the APF.. should we offer the demons  the same choice  when they know we are  about to thrash them?

  He is scanning     Roy's  report, then hands the folders back  and he sends along  his  report and  Roy's in the same  File  under 'besserman'


  a Civil war on   the Vampic side of space, could prove useful.. should the  main group of   blood drinking  and   humaniod  turning   faction win, they will be weaker, and  we will spend less  time and lives on them.. if the  'new' Vampics   win,  they will be more easily , added to the    APF.. shoudl this wise to join... If not? at elast  they will be a ...less threatening, Neutral?

  Morris   sighs,.... I tend  to shy away from makign friends. Until those friends  prover thier  worth?.. The last people we took at Face Value.. almost Cost  Commander SI her life..  and did Coast   The Admiral  and Her.. thier  son?.....when the Nivarains  turned on us, at the  'peace  conference   at  'the Alamo '.

Roy leaned back from the screen as Henry spoke.  "We know, now, that the offer was made in good faith...the fact that Case and Besserman both made it back alive is proof of that much, at least.  But at the time, we had absolutely no reason to put faith in anything the Vampics said."  He thought for a moment, choosing his words, and added, "And just how do we know this ship is controlled by some dissident faction?  The offer, and its being kept, are only proof of good faith from one Vampic fighter pilot...and honorable behavior from enemy fighter pilots isn't exactly unprecedented."  He looked at Henry, and added, "I may have missed something...we were only listening to comm feeds from Case and Besserman, after all...but how do you know this ship is anything other than what we expected it to be?"  While there was skepticism in his voice, there was also genuine curiosity.

Henry rubbed his nose.

"The Vampic who is in my office, Lt. Mortica Blackthorne, is the daughter of First General Radu Blackthorne, of IPF ground forces. General Blackthorne is leader of a faction that seeks change. While drinking blood is a biological necessity, they wish to cease the forcible acquisition of it through capture or turning of other sentients. He stands against another fellow called Forrest, who was behind the assault on Shadow at the party. Mortica has issued a codeword - Chrysalis - which is the signal to the 'Blackthorne faction' that it is the time to make their move. Their intention is to return home and rebel against the powers that be. They're asking to be allowed to leave. Mortica will remain here as liaison, indeed she is ready to enlist with us as a sign of good faith. If Blackthorne is successful, the IPF will request to join us."

Henry spoke calmly and confidently, no room for doubt.

  Morris    pursed his Lips a bit , his eyes shifted to  Roy, then to  Henry.

  ..I say, Henry...  We know this right now? The Vampic  Vessel tried to  , bloody well, sneak away?   It was  only the fact that  Besserman and Kase  stumbled  on them  searching the  debris of a  lost vessel?

 His head  Goes back and  forth, then he sips  a bit more tea,..The  two pilots  we have names for.. did.. react with  some honor...But    I have  done the same  thing  on earth, allowing  an enemy who was out  of the fight  to escape..... those   Vampics  did  wscape.. and   were headed towards their Damaged Vessel..... meanwhile  , as we  speak, the  35  prisoners  we sent off with a message,, should be  well into Deep Space.. the intent on our part , of not standing  by  and  allowing Vampic  to harvest Humans  and   APF  citizens..should be  well made...

 .. I  will  say , without  a shadow  of a  doubt, if the demons  tried to do this.. we  would ignore them flat out.

 he   leans  Back  and  runs  a hand through his  hair  and it   eases back into  place, the 'high tight' sides , very regulation. There is a sigh,..a civil  war on thier homeworld  would be a boon to us, as they  can kill off  alot more of themselves then  we can from out here...  I will not Bother  The Admiral with this now?... Our policy will continue..if there are Vampic out tehre  that wish to surrender.. they will have to make it known..not  skulk arounf  like a thief in the night..

..we send  peopel out, to skulk  about.. and you know what they do ..when we send them...be   bloody stupid of us  to think anyone else  would do less...

Is   quite reasonable  for her to wish to.. he waves  a had  ,..save her people from death and destruction....it is odd, how..it waited until they  got thier  bleedin'... he smiled   at the word,..arses kicked...

looking back and  forth between  the two men he says,..roll this around, inside your heads?  see where it lands?..What would  have Happened, if Shadow died? It would  have been a bloody big coup , don't you think?... What Happens  If Forrest wasn't  Gunned down..and..what if  we did not learn about  those    children, being sent to teh  Anzio, to be given to the Vampic?.. would there  be such a rush... to  'stop feeding  of Humanoids?'....  I feel bloody Horrible when I think of the Gava..... barely more the  sentient ..but  used  by  Aqra and the Empire  for food  stuff?.. The Bleedin' Vampics  must have used them for Juice boxes...

 ..The  Admiral  might   change to a  " hail first, fire second "  protocol  but the  first Vampic  that  Hides behind it and cause harm to an ESN member, will doom the whole bloody race..

 He throws up his hands,..that's  it ... I will not Bother  the Admiral with it , until he  returns to duty..they are flat out..not important  enough to worry about....any further    Vampic  that die in the meantime, is  just  a bit of bad luck for them...or maybe , its  is just  Karma?

Henry took a breath, then bit his lip. There was quite a lot he wanted to say about such a self-righteous approach... but would it have the desired effect. Probably not.

"The ship was leaving because of the Chrysalis directive. That's what they were told to do."

     Morris  nodded,..then?  It appears , everyone  should be pleased.. They got away  with a bit of a spanking.. The ESN chased them away..  and   Now the VAmpics have become the hunted... bit of a different role for them, I dare  say.... we  will have tpo deploy more  buoys  out that way.. see what we  can monitor .  Right now?  The Fate of the Vampic  are in thier own Hands.. if they were  smart.. they would  try and Contact the Admiral Officially?... it they were smarter, they would   Contact Hyria.. I am most certain the  could describe  what could happen, If the Admiral turns  his full attention on them

Henry nodded.

"We need to make this work. Once an overture is made, it should be listened to, not dismissed out of hand."

 Morris  nodded ,Agreed,, but i will not lose  my hand,  by offing it to an alligator...  You  Go,  take care of the Vampic, I will contact the Admiral when he returns to duty... until then.. If Vampics  are sighted  they will be hunted down.

  he stood   as Henry  made to leave,..Henry?  I won't  sugar coat this. Vampics  are bad hats, and this Overture  is only  because they are threatened...  we have goten along, quite well , without Vampics   in the fold, so I do not   feel  the need   to overly  concern myself  for them.

 ..SGT  MAj, when the Admiral returns, we  shall aslo look into the KAse-Besserman  mess.. and I will call in the LC.. i would suggest You..or  an SEC  prescence  of  some  sort is  there.

"They are sentient. If they want to deal, we should at least hear them," said Henry as he got up to go.

"If you sight any, ask if they are for Forrest or Blackthorne. If they say Blackthorne, say 'Chrysalis' to them. If they say Forrest or open fire, have at them by all means."

Roy nodded, then looked at Henry.  "I understand your position, Doctor Christie...but keep in mind, the Nivarians git us down on the planet, claiming they wanted to negotiate a truce...and then damn near wiped out our entire delegation.  The only reason we had anyone get away clean is because we were expecting betrayal.  The only reason Nivar isn't reliving their version of the Stone Age is because there was a Nivarian faction that came forward and surrendered to us, so we had someone we at least semi-trusted to put in charge."  He spoke in an even tone, no judgment implied...just laying out facts.

"Right now, we have the word of a single Vampic that there is even any semblance of a dissident faction.  We have no evidence that the individual she claims as her father even exists, much less holds any form of significant power.  We have no way to confirm this 'Chrysalis' directive is what she explained it to be.  It could just as easily be an order to fully mobilize their fleet as a coccoon for their homeworld.  If they're as eager to cooperate as you've been told, it would have been a lot smarter for that ship to have come in, surrender lights on, and confirm her story than for them to sneak off into the Black."

He shrugged, and added, "I'm all for building new alliances...but we've gone the blind-faith route before.  That's how we found out Ge-Fi was making deals with the Demons.  It's how we found out the Verians couldn't be trusted.  Lilit had to come, in person, to make a good-faith gesture before the Admiral trusted the Blue Verians.  The only time blind faith hadn't stabbed us in the back is the Skith...and we still don't know a whole helluva lot about them, beyond the fact that they hate the Qarl.  They may just be so focused on the Qarl that they haven't gotten around to us, yet...we don't know.  So, we're going to need more than the unconfirmed statements of a single Vampic, and the actions of a single fighter pilot, before we can afford to let our guard down.  If her story's real, her allies should meet with us under truce conditions and give us some proof.  One person doesn't mean a full-blown rebellion.  We've had a Largran in our ranks, and we know they're still fighting us.  Hell, we've had a Demon in our ranks, and they're still fighting us.  A single Vampic just isn't a reliable enough source to risk the safety of the whole Fleet, especially this close to a region of space about which we know so little.  She wants us to believe her, she's got to provide some proof that there's actually a faction out there worth supporting...and some way for us to distinguish them from hostile Vampics.  When...and if...she can make that happen, we can afford to start thinking in terms of not shooting first and asking questions later."

He stood up.  "One last point, Captain Morris, regarding Besserman.  His aunt is Lady V...right now, he's the closest thing to a lead we have on her...which is why I feel we need to keep him within the fleet, even if we stick him with spit-shining boots for Colonel Cummings.  We don't want that information spread around, of course...but it does need to be a factor in how we decide to deal with him."  He nodded, adding, "Thank you, Sir...Doctor..." then turned crisply and left.

  As  Roy and Henry went to leave, The Admiral  made his ship wide announcement.

Stopping at the shed she could see the man on post outside.  "Is Capt. Morris in?" she asked. "I'd like to talk with him"

   Before  the  Guard  could  answer , a voice  came from inside the   Shed.

 Morris kooed as though he  recently arrived  himself, sipping on a Tea  and   nibbling on a pastry  from the stack  on the counter.

Nikki entered and came to attention.  It was obvious she was doing a bit of PT as she saluted, putting her arm down when it was returned. "Tea...Please.  Never was one for coffee much.  I wanted to talk to you about possibly learning to be a fighter pilot.  Now I am happy with being a shuttle pilot, please do not get me wrong" she began as tea was poured.  "It is just that I have been thinking that it might be beneficial for both the Hermes and for myself to know how to fly and operate one"

  Morris , Motioned  for her to go to the   Machines and Fixed what she Liked...There is Milk  in the fridge... sugar  and  Honey on teh counter.., Grab a tart  if you wish?

  His  fingers   Moved  rapidly over the  keys, and when he Got  to Nikki's  File  he saw back with  his tea and sipped  abit  as he scrolled through what he wanted. Welll.. you  have  flight training, that helps... Now the  Difference  here is   between  driving an Air truck, or a sports Car.... What  we ....could....do....

 he  spoke as  he   scanned   some information from instructors.......is have You hit teh   SIMS.. work your  way   up through Handling    the various  fighters.... then... send you through  some   solo Missions.. and lastly team up with   volunteer Pilots   on SIMs   sorties?...  we'll eval all that, and..when we  have clear space... See if the LC or one of the Flight leaders is willing to take you up and   watch you  handle   real fighters?

 he sat back  and sipped  his tea  some more.what does that sound  like?

She poured the water into the cup and placed the orange flavored loose-leaf teabag in to steep as Morris typed.  "I know the fighters will handle differently from the shuttles.  I am confident I can adjust to the change though" as she moved and sat on the stool "I believe we have a nearly full compliment, but have another pilot who can play catchall I figure would be a good thing" she smiled at him finally removing the teabag.  "Love coming here...this brand of tea is wonderful." she said as he checked her credentials.  She was about half done sipping the tea when Morris explained about going through SIMS.  "Sounds perfect.  It would also allow more flexibility than I hoped" she smiled and brought the tea up in a toast like salute.  "If anything I can gain knowledge on how they move and fly.  If I am in a shuttle I'll be better able to gauge where and when to move should they need it." knowing that she was one of the more bolder shuttle pilots.  At least she has never crashed....by accident at least.  "Do  need a registration at the SIMS?" As with any military operations there were things limited to higher ups, need to knows, or those involved with.  All others not permitted.

 Morris   nodded  as she  complimented the tea...I like  to have reminders of home...

 ..Now? Ouside of The Commander... Chief Oric  is the god of the SIMs...  He can Make  the LC retake  a  SIM Flight  Test if he  feels the need.

 ..If...when.. you are ready to start.. he  will give you the Text bookd  and   Vid  discs.. there   will be the   'flight math'  you need  for   figuring   flight  vectors.... A lot of   pilots  hold onto the 'tone' of  your   target  screen?.. but the good ones...  can  fire without it...You'll  have to  hit  the books, and the Sims

"I can do books.  Did well in math.  So I think I would like to try.  I do have a breakfast engagement with a 5 year old in a bit.  Then I'll talk with Chief Oric" She finished her cup "I think I'll have to keep coming down here just for the tea." she smiled "My token of home is my old guitar, and a few cigars from home" she was not going to mention the flask.  "Thank you for your time Captain Morris.  I really do appreciate it" she stood up and returned his cup.  With all do proper military protocol she saluted and when given permission she left.

  ..Carry on, Ensign. Good Luck in your studies.. I will warn you this?... The  LC won't let someone  out in the black , if  he doesn't think they can defend themselves...

 walking  down, Lyri  has in a foul mood.....Ma'am, I will speak frankly...  I'm a damned Non-com..i don't understand  one ..whit of  what's goign through  The Admiral's Mind... but I know.. that  you folks, are about  as well liked  as a demon trooper

  As they   cross , heading  to teh shed, she adds,who knows  what the 9 hells  we will be seeing?..Vampic  ships?   Straggling in  with thier Lights on?.. for what?  to join us?...  for  asylum? ...and  we also can  expect  runnign battles with  IPF mercs and such that  don't  want a damn thing to do with us.


   They reach the  door , the  SEC  trooper  took one looks  at  Lyri and stepped  aside.

  She knocked on the door , saluted the  seated  Captain sharply,..The Vampic..Captain?... she is   enlisting as a Blue  Vampic..

 Morris turned   his ehad  to Look at Mortica,..Indeed..well?.... I had My tea, just a mo ago?.. if you two wish a hot or  cold drink, please  help yourself and  we'll get this  bit taken care of...

 Lyri     shifted her SMG  and  took a  small orange  Juice   from the fridge....Thank You sir...

  he motioned with his hand to Mortica, to help herself  while he set up the Vid board.

"Thank you, Captain." Mortica said as she poured herself a cup of tea and looked at Lyri.

"Thank you for speaking frankly on the way down and I do understand what you are saying and what drives it. I don't know what the future will hold and it may very well be just as you described or it may be something far better. The only thing I can say, with certainty, is that I am going to dedicate myself to being the example of what my people can be if we turn away from our base impulses and towards something better. I will fight beside you and I will, if need be, die beside you in protection of this ship. I will give the Captain my oath and I will uphold it."

Henry looked rather hard at Lyri as she spouted off, but didn't say anything.

"Would you like anything to drink, Mortica?" he asked, fixing himself a cup of tea.

"A cup of hot tea would be very appreciated, Dr. Christie, thank you." She sat down and closed her eyes for a moment. For just as brief a moment she trembled before taking a deep breath to shore herself up.

"Of course," said Henry, deftly fixing some more tea.

"Here you go..."

Thank you. How do you think I did, Dr.? I work in shadows and just stepped into the light. It’s most unnerving for me,”  she told him as she took a sip of tea.

Henry grinned.

"You would have convinced me. I think you may have a future in politics..."

She laughed, melodious tones echoing through Morris's shed. "Stars no. I am not suited for that kind of life." She stopped and looked lost in thought.

"The only way I would ever consider such a thing would be if it were in the pursuit of helping to redeem my people. Otherwise I'll let others do that and concentrate on doing my job."

"Good answer. I never trust people who think they know better than I do what I want."

Henry grinned. He'd never trusted politicians.

  Lyri,  Stood   Just outside the Door   with the   rookie  trooper who used to be an SSN  trooper.

  Morris   eyed  her   SMG  and just signed  but turned to Henry  and  Mortica, As he spun  the Vidboard  around and handed her a stylus...

  we are using the Vid board   for your  forms, so you can  read it.... I am uncertain if you are   able to read and write the  Trade  talk?.. but.. it should help you..now?  As you fill out the form, do not sign the bottom, until   i tell you...

 He    was moving   his  mouse   around to bring something up on the  Desk top... the oath, binds you to  service to the APF  first... The ESN  second, and the protection of  all coloinists, ships  and stations under  that ...very large..umbrella..

 Watching her, as she  fills out the Form,..what  does that  entail?... well.. I'm sure  you saw  some of that, at the Ball. The willigness to to sacrifice  your self to save others,  and, when needs  be.. Kill some of your own race.... Quite frankly?  I shoudl think killing  would not effect Vampics  very much.. But.. Cam You Kill other Vampics...

 he looked at her, there was  no ahrd looks, Just a purebred  question.

"I am fluent in Trade Talk, Captain," she said as she read the vid board. She began filling out the sections that required her to do so whilst she listened to the Captain speak.

She looked up when he asked her second question and held up her hands. The nails were long, sharp, and looked hardened. Indeed, she used a special polymer to make them such. "Any Vampic who proves to be the enemy of the people I am taking an oath to protect will die by claw, fang, knife, or firearm. Yes, Captain. I can kill another Vampic. If I see Braccus I will bleed him before I hand him over to the LC and will do so with a smile."

  Morris  nodded   and watched, waiting  for her to Finish the Form. Normally?.. we do not   need   another witness, since we have Vid and such.. But   with the Good Doctor here,..it  will..or should.. help with the over all acceptance .

 he reads the oath off his   Computer  screen though he doesn't even seem to  hardly glance  at it....he stresses  the words.. 'to protect those who cannot  protect themselves regardless of teh Cost"... he stop  for a Moment and says...

 ..most people   may the  folly, of thinking  that  means  of themselves , which is true to a point.... but 'regardless of the costs'.. means what it will cost our enemies , as well....in the realms of the living..there is no better  teacher then negative reinforcement.. You  tell some one , not to tocuh a hot stove, and reward them with a cookie.. that's  fine.. but..if they touche the hot stone, and get burned... they tend not to touch it again... we...burn the hands... of thsoe  who strike against us..

 Then he Finished   the Oath,..if any Blue   Verians  pop up.. they will have to take this oath as well... Now?.. After having   said the oath, and  understanding all it  entails.... You may sign the   form.. and hit  'send'.. once you do?  You  are binded  by that oath and all that it  entails..if nyou change Your Mind?... then hit escape, and your  'enlistment' never happened...make your choice.. ebcause no matter which button you press.. you life  will be changed for ever.

There was no hesitation on her part as she stood. She looked at the vid board and studied it for a moment before standing tall and reciting the oath that was part of the complete change her life had undergone. When she was finished with the oath she signed the form and hit 'send'.

"I'm finished Captain. Lt. Mortica Blackthorne of the APF reporting for duty." She snapped off a salute to him as perfect as any he had ever seen before.

    Captain Morris  truned the  Vid Board to  Henry to sign an addendum ..  they He returned her salute   and shook her hand.

The Good Doctor  and   MAsterChief  will escort your to the  Offciers  Dec  to  fine your new quarters... You will be up a few doors  from out LC.. that is not a coincidence.. The LC  eliminates  a lot  of  what  we need to be eliminated...But he is a rather  fair..if not..violent man..

   Morris   nods, as he goes through the  SEC  Feeds, He brings up the  Feed  …

  ..this is when The Admiral  has everyone  Gather, and begins to set the tone for the...um...demonstration...

   Garrat watches closelypaying attention to every word said.  He is far less interested in the disciplin of the errant pilot as he is in the simple peice of equipment in use.  Is it safe to assume he is allowed o watch the entire thing uninterrupted?

 Morris is  doing  paperwork, he is happy to have  some one share time with him.
 he does  shake his ehad, from time to time, as he hears Besserman's voice.

  "Garrat is too busy watching intently but pauses when the boy rescues Hack.  "Okay, that was impressive."  He looks over at the kid busily loading munition rounds, then watches the rest of the video.  Garrat goes back and uses the controls Morris uses to go over combat footage to zoom in and examine the the technics used with the T-rope.  "Captain?  Is there any actual training on this ship for this item? It has a lot of potential uses,"

   Morris chuckled,..the T Rope?... some old schoolers  like  thw Admiral.. and  Maybe  the SGT Major  had some training?.. Shadow, got his trainign  Elsewhere... as the Admiral stated. It was a bit crossroads in training for those who did spec Ops?...  Your Biddy  came down a  Zip line,  while you stoof  on a 3 foot diameter , 30 foot tall  pole.. They held on end og t he T... You waited  to grab the other  as they zipped by.. if you missed.. you did it again...and again, Unitl   you caught it....Then, You had to hang on for the right down..we  lost some folks. broken legs.. arms..backs... even deaths?.. They tossed out the   'Trust exercise'   and soem folks coninued to  use  it.. climing, hiding.. a weapon?.. there are some variations since them, but it is considered a novelity item

   "There are a thousand other uses and exercises for a peice of equipment like that including as a climbing aid and the ability to turn a smoot line into a zip line.

 he  waves a  hand at the Vid,..The Admiral showed some of the  things that can be  done, Depending  on how fancy the rope  is? the T is  either made of Steel  or very  hard  Rope...  some folks  even have Carved  Stone, Don't like the stone myself.. slides  too easy  when you need it to hook...

 ..but?.. You can Blackjack some one.. choke them out.. break a window..  Knock out a light..good  agents found all kinds of uses for it.

    Morris  smiles, he gets up and shuts the door, though bit  doesn't matter much, when one thinks of the thin metal and Wood that  it is built from.

  He freshens  his tea  and sits  down...When the Hermes and Hades were being Built.. and the Commanders for  those vessels selected.... The hades   had a Captain.. a sea going , Navy captain.. who commanded  an Aircraft carrier as his flagship.. at first, he sailed against the Angels as  was the wont of  all good  little eastern Bloc Types...

 ..The US, England  and Canada put in most of the creds  for  the Hermes.. they also chose a  Commander...a Certain  LT fighter Pilot who was  the fitst to earn his Blue Max, by downing   alien fighters... as opposed  to Mine.. that i earned shooting  down  pitates and  drug lords  and Anti-Angel groups?

 ..This LT  was pormised  the Hermes... and would  get the promtion to Commander.. if he also could put a  team ...a unit... toegther.. that could serve..not just the war  effrot... but.. to protect  Earth, from  certain...allies...

 ..he dug in with a passion....his   second in command....a certain COM Tech who was way off the charts in COM Tech Savvy... A Dec   Commmander.. a  QM.. and even....a rather  useless paperpusher.

 others   were brought in...a certain Female  sniper... a pschopathic  pilot... A Med tech... then.. as the crew  filled out... this commander watched... waited.. and picked..some showed  promise.. some did not... names taken  from 30 or  40 files down the list..all because they showe3d  a spark of what the Commander was looking for?.... Not just  fighting the good fight.... but fighting the good fight to win... stretching rules...breaking them.. and remaking them

 he sips his tea......now? that certain..pperpusher.. frowns on some of those  antics.... but.. he is most porud of the  Ship..and the Commander... and.. Proud to be a part of it....one doesn't  have to  be the person who shut off the lights.... to be able to help shut those lights off... The whole Ship.. the whole fleet is  one big hand.. reaching for the plug..

“Your a fair bit more than a paper pusher young man.”  Garrat teases  “ I wish I could help more, but I’m still under oath with my last place of work

  Morris  nodded as he sipped his  tea. He said,oaths  are important.. elsewise, no one  would accept   or make them?...... In the end? Its what you do... not what you say.

 he  gave his  head a quick shake  as he lifted  his tea cup again,..Like that Vampic?.... The LC doesn't know shes  an APF  member now?... 9 hells shes on the same   living  dec  as him..and you know what the  LC always says.... " I like grudges, carry them all the time...they aren't that heavy"...

 Morris tried to sound  more American then British, ..it didn't work quite well..but the point was made.

   "They will be in time, but he tends to drop them before they get outdated and gain weight.  To complicated to worry about being pissed at something, when he has so many other nice ugly things to rip apart."  Garrat laughs.  "Thanks for the info Captain, it really is good to have your  here.  Now I see some new faces on the mechs team, does it have the same head?"

   Morris  nodded at Garrat   words, then answred his question.

  ..Chief Mrogan was the elad?.. he   stepped  down to allow Kira  to retake her Command  as it were?

  "Good thing I asked then.  If you'll excuse me.  I have some people to talk to about mechs."

   Garrat walks over and looks for both Morgan and Kira.

 with a nod to teh red Haired man he said...This is CAptain Rivets..he is in charge of the Hanger Dec, and  Hold...; he will be  your  commanding Officer... he was talkign in a crisp  english accent.. Rivets   placed    a teacup and a packet of honey on the saucer .

  I am Captain Washington Morris.. I deal with the  Aircraft  paperwork aas well as the crew..... he looked away from the screen a moment, gave a slight smile, then  went back to the screen.

 we have, as  all Cap ships do... Assault  shuttles.. The teams  we   put in them are selected   by the Admiral, or  the SGT MAj.... you will be assigned to those,  to help keep  the shuttles   running..and.. give them some Tech  expertise    to deal with enemy vessels.. you will..of  course..need to  kill Empire   folk?  I am hoping that won't be a problem?

Gyrisk nods in response, folding his four arms together, the mechanical one giving a few virring noises as it did. "Your orders are my will." He said half sarcastically. He was exaggerating but at the same time meant every word.

Gyrisk had a calming preasence with him, his voice soothing but sounded off to have confidence in it.

  Morrois took  a sip from his tea,, after adding the honey.

 Rivets  nodded again to the machines and sat down  as he pulled  a Viboard over to look at workorders.

 ..yer  gonna be a  Busy land. that's fer certain..we  got some Mechs  hangin'  around that  could use some  work..and  we have a Fighter that needs going over, 'cause the last pilot  died on leave.. we wanna  make sure  the bird  ain't  trapped.

Gyrisk looked down at his mechanical forearm's underside, flipping it towards his face. A blue digital keyboard, small, appears over the underside with a bit of typing from his lower right arm.

His upper hands stayed folded over each other as he speaks, "Busy is what I live for."

He fold his lower hands together after a moment, being a quick typer. "Consider them done." He stated with confidence distinct in his speech.

  Rivets   nodded,..well, take a wee  walk down ta  the  mech  area, she what they have  fer ya..... then you can check the fighter....by that time . more folks should be comin' home an' you can check with the  shuttle jocks, see what they might need... I got  growund crews..but  we never have enough..and them CAts  won't let us near thier  birds...so.. we'll sprinkle  you around  as we need.

Gyrisk gives a final nod and a more symbolic salute than a uniformed one. He wasn't one for such formalities but more of an unspoken state of mutual respect.

He speaks, "Have a good day." as he turns on his heels and heads out of the SHed.

Having reached here given some good folk, and the general layout of the ship, he had started looking for who had called comms for him. He didn't know anyone really at this point that talked with the voice he had heard over them, so hoped he might have some clue here. That he could use to identify who contacted him.

  The guard  at   Morris's  shed .  Allowed   Oilver  to pass.  An Oldr looking balck man  sat at  a tesk, his tunic stright and  neat, Sam Browne  belt  polished  and    wings on his  chest.

  ..ahhh..  MT !  Moray.... welcome, sorry in wasn;t  here to greet you...Shore leave and all that..... I am the Adjutant here.. now..Looking at  your     files  here..  You'll be serving under Lt   Simons... she's.... tough..and that's no mistake.

  ..help yourself  to   coffee?..teas..doughnut..some cold drink in the   fridge....

 now...  MT Moray?..how are you about  going on away missions?...  You'll be tasked  with  healing... and  fighting.. there is no such thing as a Non Combatant  on the Hermes?

Sorry Sir, But I'm going to have to beg to differ on the last point. But, I'm completely fine with going on away missions to assist my fellow troops. I'm unwilling to permanently harm anyone. I take my medical assignment very seriously, and wouldn't dream of doing anything more than temporarily incapacitating a man.  Oliver moray says, as he decides to grab a doughnut, and coffee. He ate the doughnut by dipping it into the coffee to sweeten, and flavor the coffee, and since he did it since he was pretty young when he used to dunk a lot of things into drinks after discovering the joys of cookies dipped into milk.

   Morris     Looked over his glasses  at  Oliver, Son.  You have seen the bloody vids, have you not?   Empire  races  eating  people..using them for breeding...Slave labor...

 He takes a sip of his tea, and  looks  at the cup a moment...you have landed on a hostile planet... there is a bloody shooting war goign  on around  you... Fighters  zipping around for   ground  support so close, you can feel the heat of the thrusters.. and  You see... 20 yards away.. a wounded  trooper.. and a Demon,  in kneeling by him..or her... ready to take a bite..and yhou are the only one who can stop mhim...what..do...you...do...

Shout, to try and have the demon notice me. Then notice the weapons I have around, and try to incapacitate it if possible if not. Then, assuming that I do not have a means to incapacitate it. Then, The Person lying on the ground is screwed. Since assuming I do have a gun. It is possible to hit it with the backside of it, or at the best case scenario alert others to the wounded soldier, while I attempt to deal with the demon on my own to incapacitate it at most. Oliver says answering the question to the best of his ability.

    Morris's lips  curled a  little in a dark bit of amusement.

   ..... perhaps... you would be succesful... but the  only real success would be  to  kill  the Demon... or  for pity's sake..the trooper.

The Admiral declared  Total  war as the Military leader of the .ESN/APF  he snickered a bit...they thought  that  the 'weak' humans   did not have the backbone for such a war.... they found out, how  wrong they were... The  Hillites  had their  3 planets  shelled, and a blockade is there. to keep  supplies    from leaving, or coming..when we have the time.. we will go bad to  finish what we started there.... Nivar was  shelled into submission ...Aqra ...and  Hyria ... The Admiral Gives  one  warning... it has  come tom the point   where he doesn'[t even care if they surrender or not... because he is driven..Most of us are...

 ..I tell you this, MT...because when a Jump off  happens, and you ride  down in the  shot  and shell..those people in that shuttle  are  counting on you to help them,..maybe..even save them...and there are many ways to save a comrade...

 AI techs have a directive  installed in every robot..AI and such they comes off the line... ' cause no harm to humans, through action or inaction...


 that's  as  hazy as the 9 hells..because  we  have killed  many human enemies  as we do any other..but the bottom line is this, MT...more  for you, then for people like me...you need to help your  comrades  and if you fail that...you will have to live  with that..for as long as you live..which?  Could be shorten...

   Garrat snaps his fingers "That reminds me, I need to ask Morris something real quick."  Garrat makes his way to Morriss' shed.  "Sir, I was wondering if you could tall me how to register this ship as a Mercenary vessal on top of it's salvage duties?"

   Morris  Looked up  at  Garrat. makiung his  customary wave to drinks  and such.

  ..Well, SGT GArrat.. alot   needs  considered?.... If  8it  is to become and EMS ship  you would need a name..and  you would   be under the Commande  of Admiral Hack... then ,which ever Delta squadron your were asigned, and LAstly  Captain Roles of  the EMS

  ..If  the vessel is a purebred Merc.. it  needs a name  and a Number.. I have paperwork for all this , by the way...and she would  be free to sail with the fleet  as lng  as she  proves herself useful... Prize  money  gets  smaller  as  it  flows through the fleet.. so?  the support ships get  less..but it is balenced  by  not having as  much  damage done to them

 having said  all that, it wound  need  a  commander, who would attend the  Pregame breifs and be responsible for   said ship?

    Missy slipped up beside Garrat and looked at him acusingly. "Well thanx for letting me into the decision to start this." she said sarcastically, "But we really do need to make the ship pay more.  I'm Busy through the battle with repair even during the cleanup but if we can get you on the ship to act as suport and then with recovery we can make a double income, and get some real gear on board." "So captain, If the ship got registered as an Esn ship could that spot us some upgrades and point defense gunners?  I might be able to call home about some defensive armament and sensor arrays and we can call it a Porcine mercenary ship."

   Morris  looked over  at Missy, then to Garrat.. we have nothad  a good run with Merc... there were two early in our deployment..one...we had to mrigh to explode insdie nthe shiled of Astra..where they had 'human looking'  Demon , practicing  to live and work in  a human city they built for that purpose.... the other one was a pirate, ,after  we took  Tortuga, she vanished.... Then we  had  the Fellow not long ago, the one who helped deploy the first of Beth's buoys ..he was sent off.. have not heard from him.. we feel he was lost.... and we had   a prototype  Corvette..ESN... she is now  doing long range scouting for MAtterhorn..so?.. just  so you understand.. it is not a rubber  stamp...

 ...Missles  don't  grow on trees... and the  Navy doesn't carry them... we use  torpedoes  and  the rest is gunfire.. You'll be tying  up  alot of Creds in  weapons... If you want to class it as a Porcine  combat Vessel.. you may do so, , but you need a commander... not a driver.... a Commander, who will answer for  anything down, and will see  to orders  are carried out?

“And that cannot be me.” Garrett said glaring at Missy  “I’m already working under Sergeant Spencer.”   He shrugs “Besides we don’t even have a name for the ship  yet.”  He looks at the Captain.  “Thank you sir, could you please send the requirements to my computer and I will review the possibility of adding a new ship to the fleet.”   Once he got Morrises response he would turn and start walking back toward the transport .

 ..Either put this on disc... or fill it out .. its   the shorter  form, sicne you are  both known to the fleet... places for crew's names..race and sex.. number of guns, ,what type  ect...dimensions ..speeds  all that...

 he smiles a bit  and Give   Garrat a whack on the arm, and sits back down.

Mortica walked up to the shed with Roll's hand in hers and Gregor in her other arm. She leaned in over the window. "Captain Morris? Do you have a few moments?"

  Morris looked up,..Of  Course.... and who is this ?.. I think i saw the Young Gentalman  exit one of the Shuttles... and the Miniature beast

 ..if the young gentleman Perfers, there is  drinks and  dounuts....

Mortica walked in and placed a hand on Roll's shoulder. "This is Roll. Roll, this is Captain Morris. If you'd like a donut and a drink go ahead and enjoy whilst the Captain and I talk about our new house." She smiled at him.

"This is Gregor. Gregor, this is Captain Morris. He's a friend. I'm here to let you know I'll be moving out of my quarters and into civilian housing so Roll can be close to his friends and other kids. I'm not sure what I need to do to make this happen but I was told to come speak with you first."

   Roll  went over ..looking at Captain Morris again,  The  Captain smiled a  small smile  and  nodded  with a crinkle of his nose..

  ..there is some  Coco patckets  there  we  keep  foir  Lt Kase, he seems a bit  attached to the drink.

  Roll picked  a 'jimmie' doughnut  with  lots of sprinkles  and chocolate..

Readnh the instructions for the 'coco' packet was a breeze so she sat Gegor down on a seat and began making the concoction for Roll. "How far things have come for me, Captain. From a pariah that half the ship wanted dead and now I'm the adoptive mother of a wonderful child and my little pup. Truly God laid his hand upon for me to feel so blessed as I do now."

She handed the hot coco to Roll and picked out s plain doughnut for Gregor. "Is there someone who will assist me in the move to our new home?"

   Roll looked at the  Coco..then to Morris, and then Up at Mortica...go on, Lad? its ch0colate, you can  drink..I was quite  found of it as a Lad...didn't get it much up North, you see. So it was a bit of a treat.

   He  eased  back in his   chair and took a sip of his tea...After the Send off,  and you find your address in the Civie  section,  we will have  crew help you with anything you need to move...The apartments  , i understand, have  furniture, Much like  moving into quarters?.. sometimes  you may need to replace  some  things, depending on the peop0le  who lived there before.

   Morris had a   wry  smile   as he took another  sip...I will be honest, After that fuss at the ball, I was one of them.  The LC....as carefree as he may seem, can be a hard  man to deal with...but to have played that Bloody Song, with  Shade  right there... I am quite surprised he did not kill more.. I am even more suprised, his  friends  didn' kill  the all?

 he  sniffed a bit as he set his cup  down and  watch   Roll who was enjoying his  doughnut and  found that alternating between a bite and a sip was a good thing...but that is total War, isn't it..hurt people anyway you can...It will still be a while until the Vampic  are accepted widely . but being on this particular ship, With Our Admiral..is a good way to start.

 Gregor  was sawing away at his  doughnut.. a Tail thump, now and again.

“It’s deserved, Captain. My people have spent too long being monsters. When I was told the story behind the song I was disgusted at the casual cruelty behind it. I’m never going to stop trying to redeem my people.”

She looked at Roll and Gregor with a smile. “I’m going to do all I can to give them the lives they’ve been denied. I want him to be a little boy and let Gregor be a pup.” She smiled at Captain Morris. “So what do I do now? Talk to the civilian housing people and select a house then inform you which one we’ve picked?”

 Morris  Nods,..that is the Best course.. select a new place, before you cancel the onbe you have now?   there isn't much demand  for the  offcier  quarters .. but   we  don't  want to   change  your funding, until  you have   your  new place  set.

 he looks out the  window,we'll be having the Send off   shortly  .. then  we'll get underway..lots of    tine to do things  we need to do.

“I don’t have a dress uniform yet, I’m in civilian clothes with a child and Larg pup. Do you think it would be appropriate for me to attend the send-off?” She asked Morris.

  .That,  LT  Blackthorne..is  for you to choose... yo need to draw a uniform that marks  your Vampic  uniform as 'blue'.   it may not be long before  we need to enter the Vampic Civil war..depending on how many ..'blue' ..vampics there are...

Learning that Lt Morrow was to oversee the process; she supressed an impulse to scowl, thankful that the mug of coffee came into good use she sipping her coffee covering her reaction. What she'd heard from the SM about Lt Morrow suggested this wasn't going to be a pleasant task.

Years of clashes with jealous, flighty or prickly females, taught her to be wary of the things domineering females stooped to or were capable of. At first these were girls from primary school, closely followed by others at high school, then women in the Corps. She was well aware these clashes were generally attributed too her pleasant outgoing personality combined with her stunning looks was one of the reasons behind them. Still she was a professional, and had learnt to deal with whatever barriers she had to face, as part and parcel of the Journalistic Life Sounds good, I'll make an appointment with the Lt asap, the sooner we get things setup the more opportunity I have to get some great footage.

 Camptain O'Reilly  runs the hanger Dec... You will not, under  any circumstances , be permitting through the Black door  near the QMs  cage...not that you could get in without a card?..but best to stay away from it altogether..

 The Civie section Has   Mr Smithson as the foreman, and the Farm has a foreman as well

   Morris      lead   Lizzy to his shed... The Admiral  came over  from the   elevators   he was looking back over his shoulder  at  SEC  with a   stern look, but  greeted them both  Pleasantly.

 ..Washington....  Lizzy?..right..... whay can  a Do  for you?

 he saluted and   hobbled off  towards the fighters

 well  Ensign..   The Captain has a good stock of  drinks  and  treats for his Pilots.. lets see what there is  , while you  tell me what  you feel   you need to speak to me about.

 Lizzy followed Captain Morris to his Shed and then Lizzy would come to attention to attention when the Admiral appeared so quickly, she nodded when the Admiral called her name.

 Lizzy saluted the Admiral and then said," Yes Sir, I am sorry to delay you but I wish to talk about my Father Sir. He wants me to leave the Hermes and he is very mad at you for treating him as a normal parent Sir.  I do not want to leave Sir."

 Lizzy stood at perfect attention until otherwise told, it was good to see the Admiral again he was older but he still looked the same to her. She was nervous and she was wondering if she recognized her from when she was younger.

Inside the  shed.  The Admiral fixed a Coffee, and  pointed to the machine of the   cooler  if she wanted  something Cold  also..if  she wanted   a  doughnut  of Muffin.

 once that was take  care of, he  sat in his chair..

 Lizzy would relax and get a cold water, she figured Morris didn't have to leave, she would say," Yes Sir I guess he wanted us to have some privacy Sir."

 Lizzy would let out a Sigh and say, " Yes Sir but I scored to high for me to stay at Home Defense, yes I had a feeling he delayed me in getting to the Fleet Sir. Yes I was happy when I was told I was being transferred here Sir, I wondered why I was chosen Sir."

 Lizzy would relax a little this was Admiral Hack even though she knew him 13 years ago doesn't mean you treat him differently then any other decorated Admiral.
She would then add," Sir it is good to see you again, and I came to you because my Father respects you and you are the only person who could say no to him and he will listen to them Sir."

    Hack   smiled  as he  took another bite of doughnut,..well?  he doesn't  respect me any more?... I told  him  i could  not send you  back  If the LC  said he wanted to keep you...

 There is a bit of a shrug,..the  LC  has bounced  pilot s before     i'm sure he will again..but? Your  father  has a history with Shadow .. and Shadow  carries  grudges ..so?.. even  if he didn't think you were good?.. he'd  keep you here  as a Pool  pilot  just to  bother  your   father...  he smiled  as  he dranks from his  coffee.

 Lizzy smiled and said," Sir he still respects you, and always will, he is just mad his only daughter is in danger in his eyes. I guess he just trained me too good."

 Lizzy will drink some of her water, and then add," Yes my Father said he demoted my maniac of a WC to Ensign, so I assume there is bad blood, honestly Sir I dont care why the LC keeps me, I just want to stay here Sir."

  Hack  smiled  as he sat back   to savory the  last of his coffee,well.. Here's a couple  Tips.... Don't shoot   down  anyof  your  own people.... don't  shy away   when  the LC  orders   ground support..and keep yourself   as sharp as you  can...

 There is a wink,..Shadow's  Grudge  will  take care of the rest

 Lizzy would really smile and then say," Yes Sir I wont shoot down my own people, Sir when did you know of me to back down from anything. I have seemed to have gotten my Mother's looks and strong will, and I will keep myself as sharp as I can, you and my Dad taught me that when I was young."

 She smiles at the wink and adds," Thank you very much Sir, I am happy to be here and just want to stay. Sorry to bother you Sir."

 Lizzy stood up when The Admiral did, and when he asked if there was anything else. Lizzy thought for a second and said,No Sir thank you for your time and again Sir it is good to be here and too see you again Sir

 Lizzy wanted to say something about Harry, but she didn't know anything about her past other than it was rough. Lizzy would stand there with a look of wish i had the guts to ask this.

 Then she would say,"Sir as far as Ensign Lynch goes, I have just met her but Sir I think she needs help more than spending time in the Brig Sir,I know what she did was wrong but she needs help Sir and if I can help in any way please let me know Sir. Thank you Sir thar is all I have to say Sir.

 Lizzy would then almost instinctively go to work get the Admiral but she stood fast,  went to attention and saluted him.

 Hack  had a  sad look on his face, we have lost pilots.. some with  a decent kill count.. over  very stupid things... Some were even  turncoats, and they paid the highest price...

There was some LT that had been helping Morris currently in the shed.  The others having stepped out.  She left him the disc and then left.  near the Diamond she took off the gear she didn't need and left it in the cockpit.  It was going to be another few hours before her shift was over and she had Toni picking up Haley.  She could get 4 hours of work done atleast.  She was tired, but now she was cooling down.  The 2nd shift had got much caught up, but there was still some fine wiring to do with the flight controls and operational controls on the port and starboard bubblegun turrets. She got to work.

Havign   the  same style and same words?   That's frowned on.... SAome Flights will come up with some form  of  Icon.. and  all mthe flight  Members   will work of that... There is a Balck  Flight?.. the  Eagle flight .. Snake Flight..I'm sure many more... The  LC want's  people here to   have thier own style?  Us  paper pushers  make sure  no one looks the same.
