there was a sound of  exasperation from Wikiss...we use  the Worts  to scout, and , at times , ambush enemies It is hard to get the Largs and Worts to  work together, as they have been genetic  enmies  since they were created... Largs  at  set up in 3 creature   groups..a Larg Master, or  Junior Larg Master , is in charge of them... they  are used  as shock trops, sending them  into heavy  areas of  troops formations, to scatter  and demoralize them, and out  ground  troops folow  up to clear them out.... The Alphas,  wil lead  a larger Group of  largs...this tends to be  an attacked on  a fortified area, where  the LArgs can use thier  speed to get over   bunkers and  small wals , or   break into a compound....Lastly..major attacks  , as you have seen on Aqra, and Vera..Alpha P{rimes  will be sent  into the  fighting, their  Massive bodies   can take more punishment, and  they can move, relatively fast for their  size.. depending on fortifcains ..they may even breech a wall?... they are most important,  because their  presence  seems  to  make the lesser Largs  , more willing to fight.

 we find the  Naragrans and  thier Gava  suppport as, distratcions, as the Gava swarm and  attack, while the  Natagrans  attack from  Trees, and  swamps?

Henry listened intently.

"We don't have worts, but we have an excellent scout dog who gets on with the largs - many people here call her the furry larg. She has a mental link with her handler, and can lay demo charges too."

Mila, picking up that she was being talked about, trotted over and put her head on Henry's knee.

"The largs sometimes work as a pack, under Larry's command, as shock troops but often we assign two or three of them to each group of human, or humanoid, fighters, and they operate as skirmishers."

  The General said, crisply,what i am trying to say, Doctor.... is that i cannot have your renegade pack  ruining the discipline of  my LArg Master's  chargers,..and out  Worts  may  attack them , because they are not familiar  with them?

Henry smiled.

"Then I suggest you keep your undisciplined packs well away. I shall speak to the Admiral about our dispositions, so that your packs of worts and largs can be assigned where their brute force can serve best. Do you have any larg masters interested in furthering their art? They would be welcome to come and see how we do things. I would like to see your packs in action, if possible, see what, if anything, we can learn."

Mila growled deep in her throat. Whoever Her Human was talking with was disrespectful and untrustworthy.

  The Larg Master General   gave a disturbed  hum...from what i understand, we  will be , just  400 or so miles  from  The Capital, to the south. Somewhere in that area, You.....LC...is supposed to be having a surviavl  Run...again.. You are  Welcome, of course.. You may Bring   The SM   .... but i would prefer  the LC not be there.

"I don't get to decide where they are assigned but I can pass on your... opinions, should you so wish. I am interested in how you train and manage your largs and worts, however."

Henry stroked Mila's head and ears. He felt much the same as she did!

  The  General sounded , quite unsure.yes...do indeed  pass that  along. I will tell you this? We certainly  do not   treat these beasts  as pets... they are, organic  weapons!

"Pets?"

Henry sounded quite horrified.

"Our largs are not pets. They are troopers. They merely have more legs and far more teeth than most."

  yes.... well..Troopers   is a very  odd choice...?  Here are the co-ordinances  for the  Filed exercise....  if you look at the  map you will note  we have  about  1/2  mile  of  field, then it bleeds into the Forest..it is one of the areas that the Burians  have  not  labeled  as 'clean' so there is a  chance of  some mercenary hold overs, or  even  Empire folks  hiding out....We Shall see you and the SM along with  whatever support troops you have...and.... with out the LC?..Hmmm?

"Provided you can guarantee the safety of the largs in my care."

Henry said it flatly.

Back from Bura

Tired, Henry came back home at last. Can was still bouncing around and talking nineteen to the dozen about his exploits at the carnival competitions. Henry sent him to check on his fish and then to find places for his prizes.

The largs arrived and were settled down. At least with a handy lake they didn't need much in the way of cleaning up.

And now... this bear cub creature. The backpack bear. He went into the main lab to find it sitting on a table looking around curiously.

  The  bear looked about. It  made a small Bawling sounds, as if it was scared, or unsure. It lookd to the door, it watched the  Techs, it  looked miserable.

Henry came over and started talking to the little bear quietly and gently.

"Not to worry now, everything's a bit strange. You'll get used to us. Now, what do you like to eat? You are safe here..."

He put out an array of treats for the bear to choose from, checking it over to make sure that it wasn't injured.

Beside him, Mila watched intently, wagging her tail whenever the bear looked in her direction.

  The Nuska  sniffed  at  the   goodies,  It appeared in was Omnivorous  as he  didn't trun down  any of the   goodies on the  Tray.

 His nose  wrinkled now  again as it sniffed at Henry,   it  sat on its little  pointed tail, 4 rear legs  out, while the front  paws grasped    fruit or  meat    to hold  as  it  chewed on what  was in its  mouth.

Henry let the bear have a good sniff. It would help it get used to being around people. He'd heard that they could be trained as guard animals, so maybe once it was used to the BioTechs it could guard them - certainly once it was bigger.

He made sure it had plenty to drink, then asked Mila if she'd be so good as to demonstrate the animal 'facilities' so that it didn't feel embarassed when that need arose.

  The  Nuska   Cub  followed Mila. his head   kept looking around, there  would be a 'start' and  any metal noise , whether it was a  door sealing , or  dropped  scalpel..some  times it would stop and Plop  down, and Bawl out a little cry.

Following Her Human's directions, Mila led the Nuska cub to the animal 'facilities' and demonstrated their use. The poor dear seemed very nervous so she nuzzled it and tried to make it feel welcome.

 The  Nuska looked about , he looked  sad  . When   Mila  nuzzled  him   he leaned his head on her. making  soft bawlign sounds, almost loke the  loud  sounds he made.

 Lizzy walked into the Labs and looked for Can, to check their fish. " Hello, I hope everyone had a great shore leave just here to check on our fish."

Mila ran over wagging her tail to greet Lizzy.

She then trotted back to the bear-cub, who was sitting looking sad, and tried to interest it in playing. She even offered her chew toy, something she kept hidden from the largs - even Thor could destroy it in seconds if he got hold of it!

 Lizzy fussed with Mila and spent a little time with her, then went to see if Can was there and went to check on the fish.

  The Cub looked at the  toy, it batted  it once or  twice and let  out a  few more bawls , Its Head  Hung down a bit,  only rising if  people  moved about, then back   down as it  let out a sign.

  Can  greeted   Lizzy..The fist look ok.. i cleaned the food  try, i didn't  do anyhting esle?. Did you see the bear-thing?... I don't  know  what they will do with it..its Little, but its  almost as  big as me?

 Lizzy smiled and said," That is good Can I will check everything else. She/he is cute, but I hear they can get very big. Did you have fun on shore leave Can?"

  Can gave his  exaggerated  he nod..mmm hmm!  Doc  dayy and  Mommy Val when on rides with me.. we did a buncha   games . Then Daddy and mommy went   to do some stuff,  and Mr  Shadow  watched  over  The SM  , me and all the rest while  we did all kinds of rides, and  had  drinks...  I got  real real Lucky and got me a  Vid Game set!... me an Roll played  all night . 'til mr  Shadow made us  sleep.. neither of us had  those before.

Then the Next  day   Disna and Puskie  caled us over to the Faire  'cause they had  kids game  day, an' we  were  winning some prizes,  but there was some team thing  with running and  stuff, and we  did  real good...and then there was  finding a  flag  game, and Roll got real smart, and we all gave  are flags to Orria  and Skiffle, so they could  win.. it was alot of  fun..
