Melia's feet pounded the scorched ground towards the wrecked fighter, she could see as she got closer she could make out Teela's huddled form over Shadow through the thick smoke, her ears ringing. Instead of slowing down as she got to Shadow and Teela she dropped into a slide popping up on a single knee next to them,  "SHADOW, TEELA CAN YOU HEAR ME!" she shouts knowing us very likely their ears are ringing also and possibly have ruptured eardrums from the shock of the blast. One hand reaches for Teela's huddled form over Shadow the other scrambles in her bag for the portable scanner

   Melia  reached the  two...  Teela's  wings   were   wounded by some  shards of  Metal .   they were  Getting up.. the pain  from the Wings   Evident.

  Shadow looked around, he was as  angry as anyone has every seen him..  he   gave a hand to   Teela,..thank you... there   a damn good chance i don't get out  in time if i had to keep blasting and Kicking..

 Hos  left arm hung  a little  Loose..he looked at  Melia  and  pointed to it....slam it back into place...  the   SEC, Kira  and   Admiral  stood up...

 Shadow  looked at the Admiral.. HAck had  a look for  angry mixed  with relief.

  ..he put  me in this  thing... I would have been in  one of the others...I can only assume, he knew it would  crash.. don't know how he knew the POD  wouldn't work..

 ..They have  Him....according to  Nil, Zob beat him  about......

Viktor patted Roll on the top of his head and smiled, “Yes, of course. You can play with your friends.” Looking to Mortica he spoke, “See you later then at the beach.” With that he put his hand on Roll’s back and lead him away from the investigation to towards the beach.

Ensign Teela used  her  blades to help  weaken the Metaglass...  Ambermoon , Melia  and  Myself were outside the  APV when the fighter went critical..

 Morris  cleared  his throat and Loked  around  at those  gathered... this  wasn't Everest..Etna or  Olympus..This was Fuji... The Home of the  Delta Fleet..Koffel would  find  very little, if  any support here...I should think,  alot of people might   want  to...'chat ' with Mr  Koffel ..but let us wait for the Admiral and  The  rest to return...

 some how, the cultured  voice  and    outwardly calm look of the older Captain, seemed to convey  more  chill, then any who spoke  thus far.

Teela took the hand Shade offered and stood with a grimace and slight hiss of pain. “I’m just glad I got to you in time and that you’re all right given the alternative.”

She sat and let the medics work on her wings until it was time to go back to see the man responsible. She climbed into the ATV with the rest, wings spread as much as possible.

Melia started on Shadow first, "this is going to hurt... a... bit!" she said as she reset his shoulder in the socket. "you're getting a full scan at the med tent, any sign of concussion and you're grounded until Stefi signs off on you." Melia said to Shadow. She sets to work on Teela's wings offering the angel some pain meds before she sets to work in the back of the APV. You're grounded as well.  You'll also get a head scan,  but I also want a scan of your wings. We need to be sure there's no microfracture in your wings. The hand scanner lacks the resolution to be sure. Neither scan takes long, and there's no point in risking further damage for a training and test day." she says to Teela as they bounce along. Once she finishes bandaging up the two of them she checks for any other injuries, and monitors Shadow and Teela wrapping then in a blanket and giving them fluids to treat for shock.

  Shadow  Just winced   and   set a frim hard line  as Melia    got the shoudler  in place  again.

 as the  road.. Shadow was  quiet..he held the helmet in his hands , spinning it form time to time..

 ..You know, Son.. you can't just outright kill him...

 the  others    looked at Shadow , who nodded a bit.....not right now?.... But?  the  sun won't stay up for ever....Night comes to Fuji just like anyother place.

 Hack snorted a  short  chuckle.....Ineed....

Teela grumbled a bit but didn’t argue. “At least you’re more gentle than Stefi,” she said, grimacing as the ATV hit another bump.

Kira who had taken over driving the APV was hauling ass back, "Sorry back there, im pushing this thing to its limits... as for the Mechs they are good but will chat later about it... lets get you back first" she tried to avoid any further bumps if possible.

”That was a damn lucky shot Frans and you know it” Harry said not for the first time as she brought her Mantis in to land. Though in truth she’d over estimated how tightly she could turn meaning that Frans had been able to take advantage of Harry’s miscalculation and put a tag in her side bringing their aerial ballet to an abrupt end. However regardless of the outcome one thing was for certain, she wanted a Mantis even if it meant she had to buy the thing herself!

Harry had barely climbed out of her cockpit when all hell broke loose, with the two remaining Widows going down with a team quickly going in search of Shadow who had been unable to Pod out due to a fault. Meanwhile the beginnings of an angry mob had formed around Koffel who had seemingly taken it upon himself to sabotage Shadows pod which in her humble opinion was about as dumb a move as you could make, especially seeing as Shadow had survived and was on his way back.

The Fuji sec and the people had backed off of him at this point now that Koffel was in serious trouble he then glanced to Rivets then to Koffel, "I was being gentle, you don't want me to really hurt you... ill let those in charge decide your fate... better start praying though it isn't by my hands"

Melia gently took the helmet from Shadow replacing it with a small bottle of an electrolyte beverage. "We'll take care of accounts payable later. Shadow I need you to focus on finishing that bottle before we get back. I don't want you going into shock." She hands another bottle to Teela, "the same goes for you too."She says watching both for visual signs of a concussion and shock, setting the helmet on the seat next to Shadow.

  Frans Got    out  she  was smiling  as  she  Put an arm around    Harry  as they walked to the  mob...My gods  that was  fun!..If  we don't but these things..  I'm putting in a transfer to someone who does!

 her    smile  fades and she  removed the    hug-arm,  as she  got bits and pieces of  Information.

 Meanwhile ,   Fitz and He-la,  as well as Gia  and  Waggles  took  the     Mantis  craft up for  a spin

 when they Arrived , the APV  had  stopped  about   20 Yards  from the   group. the    FUJI SEC  trooper  got out, weapons   ready... Hack, was the first out,,  With Melia    aiding  Teela.. Shadow  came out      still with  a half bottle  in his  Had..  ..Morris ( thankfully)  let Shade  Go   who  ran towards  Shadow  and     slammed into him for a Hug.. .. the LC  Grimaced  a  bit,,but  returned the Hug.. his left arm, obviously  stiffer then his right..

   The SGT     grabbed   Koffels  by the  collar and stood him up..he did not   let loose the Collar.

  Koffels looked more then a little frightened...

It's clear who the contracts  should go to.....Shuttle  folks can call    and   ask for Updated  duces and such... that's not my  area... as  far as fighters?.. I'd  say we Go with the  Mantis.

If I was you.. two  of these nice  FUJI SEC troopers  will take you home... you're  done for today... in the future.. i would make damn sure  to   run your  aircraft through the wringer..before having  fronline  combat pilots take them up...now Go?.. if you're  real smart?  you stay  at your place, until the Fleet leaves.. you never know when a fan of mine..might  want to show..'just how much they care..."...  he winked  and Grinned..

 Hack Looked at   Commander  Si who looked  dumbfounded.

  Koffel  nodded  rapidly  as he was lead  away by teo  FUJI  SEC  to the    air park.

   Rivets  handed him  the   collar for him to look at,Zob saw him drop something..Mortica   found it...

 Shadow put the thing in his Pocket  and  Nodded...  Lord Foxmoor   came  running over  , all excited.....will you get to  fly my Machine, LC!...

 Shadow looked sad....doesn't look like  today..  I have to get checked out..but i have a feeling  , I'll be flying   one soon...

  the    derma plast on his  forehead ws darker  as it had  absorbed  some of the blood.

 Abby looks at  Harry, ya gotta  catch me up all on this.... I mean..if the  scum bag  did something ..why doesn't  Shadow   ..at least beat the 9 hells out of him..instead? he's lettin' him go?

Zob listens to the exchange between Shadow and Koffel and grumbles a bit when Shadow decided to let him go but he had a gut feeling it was far from over as Shadow most certainly wasn't gonna just let him get away with the attempt on his life.

Zob then glanced over to Lord Foxmoor, "Congratulations you two for making a quality product, told you it would work itself out" he chuckled glad that things worked out in favor of both of them it was then he turned to see Shade approaching him.

Kira exited the APV and apologized to the former driver for commandeering his ride, her face was still bleeding from the shrapnel so she made her way over to the med tent with the others and flagged down a Med Tech to plast up her face.

Melia escorted Teela, to the med tent sending looks at Shadow to ensure he found his way there as well. As she guides Teela towards one of the scanner units she orders a MTBI scan on Shadow, as well as a scan on his shoulder.  At her machine she quickly scans Teela her wings and her head for additional injuries as will as checking for brain trauma, and microfractures in Teela's wings. " what areas hurt more than others, and does anything feel off outside the pain?" she asks gingerly applying  demaplast to the wounds around Teela's feathers trying to avoid getting then stuck in the adhesive.

   Garrat got the message to find the pod, "Already done sir,"  To his unit "Move out again.  Same pattern.  Let's see if we can do this with some haste." He  heads in the direction of the pod and ship,

    On the way there, "Simon," he coms one of the boys at camp, "Can you load the other guys in the Fish transport and escort the APC if it's cpming?"

   Garrat gets on site.  Is the pod opened yet?

     as they  near the other   crash site.. the   aircraft  is  burning  from all the   Lube  and plastic   ect.. the PowerCell ha s  already  erupted     , almost upon  impact.

   The      FUJI SECT  troops  COMed   Garrat,supposed to make sure the Pilto  gets  back... to make sure he's  alright.....take him to Med Tech... That Shadow  guy and that chick with th  Wings   have been taken there  as well..

“The areas shrapnel impaled me and I was burnt are rather painful. My head hurts and my thoughts are somewhat muddled so I wouldn’t be surprised if I had a concussion from the blast. Otherwise I feel fine,” Teela said with a wry grin.

Mortica looked at Shadow rather incredulously. “He sabotaged your fighter and you’re just letting him walk away? May I ask why, LC?

   Shadow looked at Mortica, he  had his half smile,..now?.. we  all here  don't really know that..do we?... I mean?  it looks bad  for him sure...It's not the worst thing  folsk tried to  do to me on shore  leave..right?... I'm sure  Gresh will  Have FUJI   SEC  look into it.....right now?  we have  more important things.. Like a beach party...tonight...

   Shadow     looked to a Med Tech,..give me a  Tissue Boost in my left shoulder...

 the Med Tech looked at Melia.....don't look at her?.. I didn't say to give her the shot...

   Garrat straightens in his seat,  "Roger."   Garrat isn't happy. Looking at the pod he sets one foot on the frame to right and stabilize it and pulls the top off. "Anyone still alive here?"

Melia looked at the scan results. "looks like you got pretty lucky Teela. Mild concussion, and lacerations but no stress fractures in your wings. You'll still need to stay off them for 2 days to give the cuts time to heal. Other than that take it easy and make sure some one checks on you if you decide to take a nap within the next 12hrs. If you have any pain or problems after 2 days stop by the med lab and we'll set you right." she says finishing up. To the Fuji med tech she calls out while wrapping up the final wound PM Teela. Do it, medic. If anyone gives you grief that can take it up with, Stefi, or the Admiral. And while your over there remove the stick, and come out to the party later you look like you could use a couple CCs of fun." Melia begin cleaning up the station now that Teela has been fixed up proper

 Te   Pilots  face   was  Bloody.. his head  hit the Console   as well.. but he  didn't have the experiance  to  be  ready for it..

 he was out.. but looked  like he might be  alive.

 the   med tech rubbed some  numbing agent  around the discolored area  of his shoulder,what do the Unlucky ones get?

 The   MedTech    slipped the  needle in his shoulder  ,   Shadow  winced    and  looked off  into the distance... she tried to take his  mind off the pain,..I thought  some were  from Jealous Husbands...  she giggled.

 ..never  said they weren't....  he tried to  wink..but the pain was too much....gods be damned!..  did you  go to the  'Stefi  school of shot  making"

 ..told you, you should have  waited... 12..16 hours   yhou would have  been stiff   ,. maybe  sore..but no pain like that...

 Shadow    pulled his Tunic  on  , Looked at Teela,..thanks.... just remember.. those  wings are to help you  fly?... not   be used  as  targets!.. see you guys  at the party.. I'm gonna go look at stuff  then  maybe  leave if the  Admiral doesn't need  me..

 as they went out of the Tent.. the  Med Tech   took  Shadow's  jacket.. held it  and  tucked it in her duffle  bag.

“They got me to you quick enough to keep there from being Shadow bits all over Fuji. If anyone shoots at me I’ll shoot them back.” Teela climbed out of the van still wrapped in the blanket and drinking her medicinal drink. “Thank you, Melia. I appreciate your deft and gentle hands.”

She walked over to the place Hack, Si, and the others were standing.

   Garrat tended his wounds and loaded him imto his mech.  As thye were probably closer to the proving grounds based on where he went down and Garrat wanted to see Teela any way, Garrat reported his actions and set the kids to clean up, then made haste straight to the proving grounds and walked to the med tent.  "Special delivery, one unconcious pilot complete with derma plasted head wound."  After handing down

Harry would chuckle darkly in response to Abby's question as to why the LC was simply letting Koffel go without even slugging him one "You really think he's letting him go?" she asked, quirking a questioning eyebrow at her sister before proceeding to explain the situation "you remember when I told you not to cross the LC? Well...let's put it this way, don't be surprised if our friend doesn't suffer a fatal accident sometime between now and when the fleet leaves" she said leaving Abby to connect those particular dots for herself "right, well I'm going to hit the beach, There's nothing else here I need to see...that and I want to see Will, are you coming with?" she asks Abby as she slowly starts heading towards the shuttle park so that she could catch a ride back to the station.

It was as she was on her way there that she would catch sight of Lord Foxmoor on his way back from asking Shadow if he's be flying the Mantis "Lord Foxmoor, that machine of yours is a dream to fly and I'm most certainly going to be asking for the fleet to take them on" she said with an enthusiastic smile on her face. The fact that the Widow had been an unmitigated disaster didn't hurt either.

Zob sighed a bit he had a good idea of how things may turn out with Koffel but he was no longer a issue, seeing as the Foxmoor people were occupied with other things he turned his attention over to Mortica, "Now Mortica about that demon heavy pulse gun you have checked in back at the ship, i would be interested in taking it off your hands as it would suit me well in combat, but i also realize you have a family to provide for so would you be willing to compromise for say 500 credits?" he offered her.

Kira stood there as the tech patched her cheek up, "I think ill hit the beach as well after i check in with Littie" she then sent a com message to her asking if she wanted to come down to the beach with her.

“I wouldn’t charge a ship mate. It has some sentimental value since the Demon almost killed me with it. How about I tell the QM that either one of us can check it out for use? Chances are bit will be you using it most of the time anyway. Fair enough?”

Her eyes were shading back to their normal white on white, her fangs beginning to slowly retract as she stood and talked.

Melia nodded, "always here to help. Take care of yourself." She calls to An'Teela as she leaves. Melia is about done resetting the station she'd used when Garrat brings in the other pilot. "That the one that was dogfighting Shadow?": she asks not waiting for an answer clearing the bed off, "bring him here, what's his story." she says preparing the scanner.

    Garrat Climbs out on the knee of his mech and pulls the man out in a "Princess" carry leaning the mans head on his chest so as not to stress his neck, then jumps the las few feet to the ground.  "Sleeping beauty here didn't have the sense to know that when you stop suddenly your head hits the dashboard.  Airbags might be a good Idea for atmospheric crashes though.  And judging by the pod, Sneak could have designed a better ship and she hates tech,"

  The   Pilot loked to have a Bloodied   nose and  the  same  , but deeped  cut on his forehead, shadow  had..

  he  didn't  seem to have  any more broken bones.

 Kira  gets a COM  back that said  , the med  Takes  said she  could  come to  the Beach, but no  dancing or swimming.. she adds,..just get me the 9  hells out of here!!

 Abby looks around, ..I'd like to  fly that Mantis  again... but... wouldn't be fair.. they are havign people  come   around the clock,  so every one who wants to Fly..gets  a chance...I may as  well come?    That LC said   i was goign to make the  list..so?..may as well meet people..

  Admiral Hack..Commander  Si , and Captain Morris  were  goign up in  the Mantis... Shade was sitting in the Jump seat of    Commander Si's craft..

 Shadow was  standing next to Foxmoor.. the man was grining  ear to ear...I sent  for  6 more  Mantis from the Lower Hangers  to be   ferried over, so mor people can fly...

 the aircraft  took  Off   and Shadow   watched.. reather  angry he wasn't able to fly the rest of the day.

Melia set about quickly tending to the pilot, she didn't know he'd taken a bribe or that he'd made an ass of himself to Shadow. At this point he was a patient, other than being unconscious he had fared rather well perhaps the blow that had knocked him out had saved him bracing or resisting being tossed around and relaxed his muscles. She quickly cleaned up his nose, no signs of break there, and applied dermaplast to the cut after she cleaned it. Finally came the fun step, grabbing a small plastic vial that when popped created a very vile smell for a brief moment she held it under his nose and once she felt his exhale popped it causing him to inhale the smell. The worst part was it was a terrible smell to wake up too and people were often sick, but it nearly always woke an unconscious patient up.

   Garrat stepped up besides Teela "Are you going to be okay?"

"Well judging by the reaction of everyone who has flown one, I think it's pretty safe to say Foxmoor is going to win the contract to supply the fleet with Mantis fighters" Harry said, turning to watch as a cue of pilots eager to try out the Mantis started to form, leading Harry to suspect that they'd struggle to get another go even if she wanted to. Though seeing as she was liable to be receiving a Mantis of her very own by the time the fleet departed she wasn't too worried about missing out on having another go, unlike the beach "...also trust me on this, but you want to make the most of the beach while you can, it's surprising the things you miss when you're in deep space...that and I could kind of do with figuring out the whole big sister thing" she added with an embarrassed smile, still not entirely sure how to deal with the situation they'd found themselves in.

After catching Shadow's attention long enough to let him that she was taking Abby to the beach, after all she'd hate for Abby to lose her spot because went AWOL from her trial, they would board the shuttle and head back to the station where the beach awaited them.

Zob was satisfied with that response from her, "That is acceptable, by the way when you get back to the ship check in with the QM, there is some nice things for Roll and the other kids in a care package i picked up earlier figured it could be of use to you"

Teela was sitting with the blanket wrapped around her. She looked up and smiled when Garrat walked over. "Shrapnel wounds, some burns, and a concussion. I'm under orders to rest for the next two days and have someone check on me if I decide to sleep within the next 12 hours. Otherwise I'm great," she said and grimaced a little at a sharp bit of pain.

"Thank you, Zob. I appreciate you thinking of the children. I know Roll will be very grateful. He's very polite and such a sweet child given the life he's had," she said as she raised an arm and put it on his shoulder, giving it a squeeze before returning her attention to the brass.

   He sits down next to her, no contact, just there. "Your wing bones, did they check you for micro fractures?"

   4 more  Mantis aircraft,  entered the  atmo... the Widows  that were  left were  hauled out  to the  old hangers  with the remains of  shuttles ..

 Proctors  set up Lines     for  the  now ...6... aircraft..and   Set a Good 15 minute time limit, the the threat of  the Brig if the  overly exceeded  thier turns

 some of the Hermes Piltos    were in line  with  other pilots, waiting thier  turns.

 The Admiral and   Commander  were laughing, as they ha d  each  tagged   each other.. But Morris  tagged them each twice... Shade  jo9gged over to  Shadow , bleeping up a storm  about  flying   with The Commander.

With her patient awake she hands him off to the Fuji medtechs for observation until he's feeling well enough to leave. She strips off her gloves grabs her gear restocking her medkit from the tent, and walks out carbine slung over her shoulder. She wanders over to Shadow and Shade, "how is it feeling boss?" she asks with a touch of a teasing tone.

  Shadow  Flex...

 he jerks his  head to the   Shuttles......feelign  Better, PO.... I have a feeling  I feel  real good tonight...

 Shade gave hi a thumbs  up  as they followed the line to the shuttles.

Melia nods in understanding. "I'm headed back myself let me know when and where if you need my assistance." She says heading to gather her duffle before finding a shuttle herself to take back to the condos.

Zob smiled a tad bit before following suit with Shadow and Shade towards the shuttles as he felt his time here had come to a end.

Having ridden out to the crash and seeing that LC was 'relatively' okay, Nikki was happy about that.  After the explosions were done and the fires were out she looked over the crashed remains. If he had been trapped in it by Koffel, she wanted to know how Shadow got out.  As others had gathered about Shadow she looked things over.  From what he could determine without a lot of fancy equipment is his cheap-ass, cost cutting worked against him.  The rumpled metal actually broke the locks on the pod.  She took a couple of quick pics just in case.  overviews, and close ups of the damage.  Even a few that had where He dragged himself out.  Never know when it might come in handy.  After a bit it was obvious Shadow was going to be okay and people began wandering back to the flightline area.  She too went back, only after giving Shadow a fist bump of assurance.

Back at the flightline area there was a group of SEC troops around Koffel, more for his protection than anything.  She moved over to Nilsson "He's alive.  Beaten, battered, and bruised. but alive" She then wandered down over to Garrat and Teela.  "you two doing okay?" noticing Teela was not looking in banner shape.

"They did. No fractures. The shrapnel hit my back and shoulders mostly but some went through the feathers. I had my wings spread over the both of us to try and shield us from the blast as best as I could. No damage to the wings save some burnt feathers. Most of the pain is from where she had to pull shrapnel out."

She shifted and grimaced a bit. "I'm afraid I won't be able to make the camping trip tonight. I may end up sleeping in medical since I have to be observed when I fall asleep for the next 12 hours."

She looked up at Nikki. "Hi Nikki. A bit bruised, burned, and banged up from helping the LC get clear of that deathtrap he was flying. I do not recommend being just a few metres away when a fighter explodes. Try getting much more distance if you can."

"Understandable...Look at my ride they gave me" she gestured to the Wyvern that looked like the only thing holding it together  was a loophole in the law of gravity.  Even looking at it they could see a few bolts fall from it.  It seemed to emit a strange wheezing hiss. Then part of the loading ram fell with a clang.  Nikki looked back at Teela and Garrat. "I borked it!" she smiled. "Well we are going to the beach...lot of people there to keep an eye on you.  I have to make a stop in the farm area though.  Haley is there with Orria and by now probably Roll and others having fun" She tossed the helmet for the wyvern to a passing crewman "Plus ...if we are here tomorrow with down time...I got a surprise for you and Harry.  Catch ya all a bit later.  Teela get to healing" She wandered to get a ride back to Fuji prime.

  ..Dr  Christie?  tomorrow  is  supposed to be the  'off  day' for everyopne of the Fleet.. Dr  Vollen  has.. as you have seen.. trouble   voicing herself.. she  is  still as bright as she ever was, perhaps..brighter?.. she  just cannot   articulate?... at any rate, she asked   me to see if you would   attend a Dinner, and  Convention, as it were?... it  will be held  in  the FIJJI  SEC meeting hall, there will be food, and addresses  from some of the people in the Bio-tech field...  the TAlks will run the GAmbit  from  chip research to the  type of   , earth grains we should plant on other  plants.. I am sure.. they will wish you to speak on a subject of your choice.... not many of us, get to  meet the Warrior Prof!

   Garrat's eyes softened and he chuckles softly, "Nice try, smeaky little white elf, but there has been a change of plans.  The campout has been moved to the beach on the uppers.  It so happens that my little brother had wings like yours and I know for a fact that they heal a lot better when exposed to a nice warm bonfire and I went through all the trouble of getting us sleeping bags." He gently smooths a strand of hair out  of her eys "You promised me another dance and a conversation last night then ran off to rest for today.  I'm surprised I didn't find a glass slipper."
   Garrat moved on before he lost the nerve, "Now I was the captain of a deep space combat vessal so I've sat up with my fair share of nuckle heads who got themselves concused and even us long lived people have precious few moments to kick back and have this fun thing you've been talking about.  I will talk to Stephi myself and make sure I know everything I need to know, and if she says you need to be in the med bay fine.  But if you don't I'd hate to waste a chance at a beautiful evening with a beautiful woman."

Karl nodded as Nikki gave the update on Shadow.  "Figured he would be alive.  A man doesn't survive everything he's done to get taken out by a botched sabotage."  He was thinking about the whole experience with the Wyverns...they were bad enough that there was never a serious chance they'd be considered as replacements for the fleet--which meant that they were actually never good enough to be a serious risk to anyone in the fleet, either.  Part of him was tempted to chalk Koffel's whole thing up to an attempt to sabotage the Delta Fleet fighter wing and assault forces, and part of him was convinced that Koffel was just grossly incompetent and sunk way too much money into building prototypes that never had a prayer of passing muster.

But the test pilot in him also looked at the whole thing from a different perspective...the Wyverns had been designed and built by people who had no appreciation for what combat aircraft went through, and what kind of demands, at a bare minimum, they should fulfill to be taken seriously.  That was the reason the Stolys, and the Deuces that followed them, had done so well...they were built by people who got it, they understood the missions and the demands.  And while he doubted Stolyarev would ever get a chance to make it off Earth and back out to Fuji, he felt like the legacy of the man's program should be protected.  If those shuttles were going to be retired, they needed to be retired in favor of a better bird, not just a newer one.

Mentally, he started building a criteria list...at some point, he'd submit it to the Fleet, and they could show it to prospective contractors, and say, "Your shuttle MUST be at least this good or you've wasted your time and ours."  There was still a chance the products wouldn't live up to their promise...but it beat having any idiot with the credits and the contacts building what he thought would be a good shuttle, especially when that idiot didn't know anything more about the demands of combat than what he saw on a Captain Lightning vid.

Deep in thought, and getting deeper, Karl grabbed what was left of his meal and started walking toward the shuttle back to Fuji...

"I shall be honoured to attend, Lieutenant Deems," said Henry, trying not to giggle at the appellation 'Warrior Prof'.

Teela’s eyes, which had been a rather dull silver, brightened to their normal burnished colour and even appeared to glow slightly. “Sneaky little white elf?” She asked with a smile. “I like it.”

She closed her eyes slightly as he brushed her hair. “Yes, I like it a great deal and I don’t want the sleeping bags to go unused or fail to sit before a healing fire.”

She looked up at him. “And I would hate to lose the chance to spend the evening talking with a good and handsome man,” She said softly.

Mortica waited until the brass was gone then caught a shuttle to Fuji. She had a surprise in store for Viktor which made her smile at the though of his reaction.

    Garrat smiles "If I see one I'll be sure to send him your way, but till then you may have to settle for  me."

    He places a hand gently on her back.  "Till then I have some loose ends to tie up.  There's a bunch of boys who might get a little antsy If I'm gone too long."

    Theres a pause, where he might have...said "goodby" in a different way, but he forces himself to move.  She has a feeling there is a side to him that's more...sensitive than the man mountain most see.

“I don’t consider it ‘settling’, Garrat. I’ll see you there,” she said as he moved off. She watched him leave before standing to get her bag and catch a ride back to Fuji.

Justin assisted with the preparations for the next days demonstrations; then helped tidy up and secure the ROM's.

 The   Techs     secured  the  tarps...  4  More   Mantis wpould be  brought  to the  PG  to give even more piltos  a chance to fly...

  The   Fighter  Proctor came over to Justin...You're a Hermes Lad  , right?  I didn't see you take  a  trun on teh Mantis?... No one here  right now?.. want to take one up?

Justin considered the proposal. Not sure Mister. he replied then added I wouldn't want to break your Prototype. Especially since it appears to be doing so well holding up to the things those Experrienced/Hotshot Pilots are doing to them.

 He grins, as he  heads  to  the Billets the proctors  and  ground  crews    have on PG  for the   duration of the  show.

Justin thaked the Proctor then joined te que waiting to have a turn with the Mantis's. Being 64th in line he calculated that he just made it in time and would be the last they would be allowing to have a test flight today.

The visit to the Bio-Tech display concluded, Henry and Mila headed off back to Fuji with an eye to going to the beach so Mila could play.

  On his way out garrat drops by the Mech testing ground. "You guys free to let some kids play on the obstacle course before you shut down?  We have some fish mechs you might not have seen though I'll bet you have the Largan mechs mapped inside out.""

  the    Proctor  nodded,..this is clean up time, egtting reday for tomorrow..0600 every damn pilto  who get  get passage  is goign to come here to  fly those Mantis..the rest of the  stuff  will be  a side show?.. so?.. go ahead.. maybe an Hor  or two?

   Garrat gets on the com. "Okay, it's been pretty easy findng the downed pilots here so I want our three best preferred non combatants in the repair mechs and on call for recovering pods.  You are to fall back to the Transport.  we have permission to give the obstacle course a try. They've stopped flying the winged coffins so there shouldn't be many more pod outs.  Every one else beat it double time out here.  I'll be at the transport soon enough."  Garrat climbs into the mech.  Using the paths made by the APC's or the road that is likely to run to the plains staging area he should be able to make good time, passing the scouts in the process.

   In route, "I expect you boys to be on your best behaior at the course.  On any course, the guy heading it up is GOD... your entire future combat carrer relies on you putting in a good showing today.  Listen to orders and play it safe until told to do otherwise.  Then do exactly as you ae told.  There is a possibility they may start looking at you as a potential tester or think about our team as a resource to make their gear better.  Besides, you get the chance to play with the big boys.  Each one of you has it in you to get this done right.  I know it.  Show me what you've got."

   Garrat moves the big-ole transport in,  Besides, the mechs would be more likely to help from there and he can drop them off closer to the crash if needed.

   By the time he returns the boys will have been trying out the obstacle course for some time.  He steps up to the representative.  How are they doing?"

 The fellow    nods,..not  bad... thy can do  some 'make work'..but if there  were  Empire  people  around, they wouldn't  last long.

  "True enough, this is the first time they've used those mechs for anything but ripping scrap apartso this trip is very important to them, thank you for the oportunity."  Garrat looks out at the unit, "Those largan mechs are a bit on the largish side for our needs, especially once you but halfway decent armor on them but the screw design servos don't slow down as much with the added weight as you would think.  The design is good, it's just that they are made to use inexpensive parts because the military wants to spend all their money on the guns."  Garrat cocks his head to the side, "We'd be in a bad way iff they ever figured out how to hit and hide.  Thankfully the actuall solders rend to be much dumber and agressive than the engineers."

Being allotted more than the standard fifteen Minutes for a test flight Justin1 ex f  immediately ran through the pre flight check and launch process. Taking to the air he pushed the Mantis to the limits, thrusting directly away from the landing sight he executed a series of pivots turns and sharp changes in direction putting considerable g force pressure on the frame. Inverting and rolling the fighter in extreme manner. Several of the control lights flickered changing from green to yellow and red during the process. Reaching an elevation of 100000 meters away from the landing site he flipped the fighter over changing its vector several times and bringing the Mantis straight down towards the test site repeating the manoeuvres he had on the outward trajectory. Intensifying the process with additional rolls, flips and the like noting even more lights on the display panel changed to red from the extensive punishment he was subjecting the Prototype to.

    After his conversation, the fighters finish flying, and the kids get a good practice in, Garrat has them pack up and takes them beck to the LG01 for a cleanup before heading to the Beach for the over nighter with those that are are joining him.

    All other posts here will be in flex, so if Justin has to pod out Garrat's team will be there for him.

  The Mantis  behaved like a champ... the  Proctor  signaled him to bring   it  down, so  they could clean it up and put it  to bed  for the others  to  use tomorrow.

Acknowledging the recall Justin came in low bringing the Mantis to a stop in the landing area. After powering down he popped the canopy and nimbly clambered from the pilot seat. Chatting with the Proctor and getting additional details about its capabilities he thanked them, then headed off the field; pausing to check his com for any directives from Hermes.

Receiving nothing from the Hermes, Justin decided to head to the beach for a change. Who knows there may be something interesting happening there.

Captain Omen of the Universal Enterprise Transporter Ardvark reached the Fuji outer marker. Sending a com along with their cargo manifest to their Space Traffic Control requesting permission to dock. Aboard the Ardvark were three configurations of  Skeeter III's to be on display and a fourth fighter ready for any of the Assment Pilot's to test out at their convenience.
