OOC # 21
Posting is going to be EXTREMELY sporadic for me over the next few days...I may be able to post some stuff at work, depending on how things are going there and what additional projects they throw at me. I will, hopefully, have all the lighting stuff for our performance space taken care of tomorrow. I also need to check stage lights in our pavilions...the park hosts a couple of major dance competitions (if you're into children's clogging...) every spring and that weekend is coming up FAST...
On top of that, I'm doubling up on rehearsals between dress rehearsals for Phantom of the Opera and rehearsals for Much Ado About Nothing...I made it to about half an hour of the latter tonight, because they were doing a run-through of the second 'act' (Shakespeare wrote it in five acts, we're basically presenting it as two, but the 'half' of the show after intermission is MUCH shorter than the first half...), then turned around and ran back to the Phantom rehearsal for notes after the runthrough tonight. I lucked out...one of the volunteers helping with makeup for the show is a former student of the school that's producing it, and is definitely gung-ho for making stuff work...she is, thus far, the most reliable of the four volunteers (she was late for one optional presentation I did on makeup for the show, and has otherwise been there every time I said I needed someone to help, and been much more timely than anyone else that's helping.) Guess that counterbalances the fact that my niece offered to style the wigs for them and then apparently never got in touch to get details about which wigs, when they needed to be done, how many of them, etc, and that another friend of mine offered to be wig crew for the show, and has thus far not even responded to me asking her to send her phone number so the director could get her up to speed on what needed doing...
The makeup side of things is going fairly well, despite the hit-or-miss assistance of the volunteers (ironic that the two of us that are doing the most work don't even have kids, much less kids in the show), the wig side of things has a lot of people frustrated (we had a wig person lined up, we thought, and then she bailed on us about a month or so ago...) And Much Ado is going great...I've got one or two lines that I still just can't quite get locked into my mind...one or two word choices that are just foreign enough to me that they feel really awkward, but I feel like I've got it just on the verge of being locked in solid. And the rest of the cast is freakin' brilliant (even the few that have never done anything Shakespearean before). It's going to be a really fun show...and definitely worth all the agony I'm putting myself through for the next couple of weeks.
But, yeah...if I seem to be taking extra-long to respond, I just literally don't have time to sit down and type out a response. It'll be like that for a couple of weeks, then a little more normal for a couple of weeks, and then really crazy-busy again for a couple of weeks...and then we're into the summer and I can settle down a little and enjoy my hobbies again...*laugh*
