Re: OOC-#23

It shouldn't be a problem I can cover it up if necessary (which is why it ends above where a watch band or cuff of a sleeve would sit) most wont recognize the symbols or some of the color patterns without exposure to those communities.

Re: OOC-#23

Yeah my experience has been very much as long as it can be covered when necessary or all the time generally the employer doesn't care.

I think the worst I've been called is a satan worshiper for having tattoos, which while not Judeo-Christian, I'm definitely not a satanist. Plus I got the most recent tattoo because it is an affirmation of my spirituality (not unlike quite a few christians tbh) and as an affirmation to me that I don't always have to hide the fact that I belong to a faith tradition.

On another note I've read and caught up, but am feeling very out of mental energy right now so I'm gonna have to delay IC posting until the morning when I'm in a better headspace.

Re: OOC-#23

Sorry I dropped off the face of the planet there for a couple of days.  I got a migraine on my way home from work on Monday and it wiped me out for the rest of Monday and almost all of yesterday.  I'm glad I don't get migraines often...but as I get older, they're getting worse, and harder to shake off (I used to be able to take a couple of ibuprofen and sleep for a couple of hours and I was fine...this last one took a few sumatriptan doses and most of a day of recovery to get back to almost normal...)  It was also one of those that upset my stomach...I won't go into any details on that one, except to say that I'm really glad I still have some of my anti-nausea prescription from a few years ago, or it would have been a lot worse.

I rarely even remember having dreams, and even more rarely remember anything about the substance of the dream...but I've apparently been watching too much Supernatural lately, because last night I dreamed that I was trying to protect someone from a demon (a Supernatural demon, as opposed to one of our Demons...although I do remember effectively 'pausing' my dream to ponder a bit about the differences between the two...)  That could have been a side effect of the sumatriptan, though...

Re: OOC-#23

I'm trying...I've put on about 25lbs in the last couple of years (which means I finally broke 150 lbs, and have ballooned to a whopping 32" waistline, so it's not necessarily an unwelcome thing).  I'm still trying to adjust my diet to fit with my metabolism at this weight...I eat like I ate for most of the last three decades and I find myself stuck with a migraine after a few days, so I have to keep reminding myself to eat more, and make sure more of it is protein and fiber...I also have problems with acid reflux that kick in hard if I don't eat enough.  It's weird to sit down and eat something that would have been a good meal five years ago, and have my body react like I just gave it a nice appetizer and where's the real meal now?

That seems to be my primary migraine trigger.  I also have a chronic sinus condition that normally just feels a little odd...but if I get into a migraine cycle, there's a part of my sinuses that feel like someone's burrowing in there with an ice pick every time I inhale, which makes it really hard to shake the headache.  I have not yet found a consistently satisfactory way to treat that particular problem, so I just try to avoid migraines.

Re: OOC-#23

Roy...eat a banana.  The potassium is easier to digest instead of pills.  The potassium will dilate your arteries and veins and allow the blood to circulate better and alleviate migraine pressure.

Re: OOC-#23

me too..poor kid... his  ex has been holding the papers hostage..contesting him for custody support.

he's winning for sure..but its costing him money he shouldn't have to spend... these are  the kids  who stayed  with me, ebcause   CYS  wouldn't  let her be alone with them...and?  during the 'once every 2 weeks' visits..she spends more  times  with   addicts /alkies  cause her  BF is  one … really messed up..she gets  free  law  stuff  because   students from Pennstate  are her  lawyers..who is supervised  by  a real lawyer...its  really messed up.. the lawyers came  down on them, and she had to sign the papers.

His  wife to be is pretty good fit... kids like her a lot..i like her,my daughters like her...i'm thinking i'm goign to take a bit   finance ,hit, because   my son asked me yesterday about having to ask for  some help, since the lawyer  stuff spilled over into his savings.

::shrugs::  My dad..when I was layed off  in the  80's helped us out  with my house...  I would pay him back  as best I could when I got work... I did all kinds of stuff...but when I got into the post offcie, I paid him every  2 weeks... he 'cleared  my debt' because I was always paying..something..no matter what... I asked him..' Hey?..I can't ever  repay your  for this!"

He  just smield  and said,"..someday..your  kids  will need help... you replay me, by helping them. "

and?  we did.. kids  staying here  when going through divorce... money for weddings  here...lawyers there...send some  down to Son in FLA...

had  a fav teacher in 8th grade..scicne teacher..really good guy..poor  guy died of cancer about 30 years ago... he was talking, just to talk at the end of the day once, he told us.." all things  even out,sometime".. I asked.".well? what about  my parents?..how  does them taking care of me now , even out?" he  just winked  and said,"..when yuou have kids... you'll need to task care of them."

funny? one of the lessons  that stuck with me, wasn't even school work!

Re: OOC-#23

It seems that's the way it goes.  A good teacher never stops teaching and there are no classes that stream line our common sense but the good teachers always know a way  to slip it in.  Parents don't know it anymore.

Even at 46 I come from a generation where the Parents of most of my generation didn't have time to teach common sense with both working or having only one parent trying to hold things together after a divorce.  And now those who actually realize that it should be something they care about don't even know how to care about it.

There are ecceptions, and signs that parts of our population are trying to get their feet back under them, but the higher the population density in an area, the harder it seems to make things work.  Government is the worst source of policy in this but I'm seeing success where the government makes programs that support the next generation effecting social change for themselves, and have seen a positive end result in Parents who benifitted from such programs when they were younger.

Now somebody pull me off this soap box before I get started on gun control.

Re: OOC-#23

I did have a banana...about an hour and a half later, it came back up, fairly violently.  I'm still trying to decide whether I still like bananas...I know it was the headache, not the banana, that caused it, but banana the second time around is one of those events that can create lifelong food aversions...

Re: OOC-#23

Hi everyone just got some news, the test they did on the growth on my ovary is cancerous, they want to do the surgery as soon as possible, it will probably be next week some time, they are just going to take everything out and then search to see if there is any cancer left. I was hit a little hard when I found out it was cancer, but I am good and they will take all of it out, i will have to take hormones afterward. Once I get a surgery date i will let you know.
