weekends  are always a little slow...as  the   country opens  up..more folks will try to do things..

also?  from my part...Daughter  from MC is comign up, will be here late tonight with her  two daughters... the  Poor older  one has to go out to Iowa  for almost 2 months..its not  fun out there.. the  step Mom is a whack Job..drinks..and treats   my Grandaughter like  the TV step moms..the dad..doesn't have the guts to stand up to her...

anyway we'll have  the grandaughters B-day tomorrow ..and then things will be busy for me the  next week or so...as always, I will alwyas   get on late  at night.

Re: OOC #26

That breaks my heart about your eldest grandaughter. No child deserves to be treated poorly. I also know how hard it is to have to send your child away for a couple months. My middle daughter usually goes to be with her dad in Missouri for a month and a half. Luckily, with everything happening, he said it would be best to cancel it this year and that he would come visit sometime during the holidays.

Re: OOC #26

yeah...my youngest Boy who lives near one ( the one whose  house burned  down on Father's day last year!)..has   3  girls..3  years ago i had to watch them while he was tsationed  as a recruiter  60 miles away...poo guy had to transfer or lose his  kid  because of  alkie/druggie (now  EX)  wife.

The kids stay here  alot, things  a better  , outsid eof the hous eburnign  down...but he had to take his  kids  for Vistion to to see her,,half the time  she cancels or cuts it  short ( 3  hour  drive one way)..

anyway, she hooked up  with another  druggie.. she keeps  trying to get more time..she calls them..maybe, once a week,,none of thier   B-day were  remembered..or  easter  ect ect

they transferred the  case to Somerset..it  might go better now.. His new wife  is a Mother..rules...carrying ..not drunk...(( side abr.. when she was put in jail for getting DUIs  3 times in one day...they were  cleaning out his bed  room and  found 43  empty Vodka bottles!)

and My son could  understand by his Credits cards  kept gettign Maxed.... She's no god.. nor is  the other one's Step Mom..i could tell you alot of  sickening stories..but .. the ebst way to sum it up..is   I lost faith in  'god"  when My Mother  and  My wife  died   the way they did..and scum like this  is still alive!

 ok..all better!

Being a preschool teacher who is very passionate about what she does along with having 3 kiddos myself...it just sickens me when I hear about how badly children are treated. They don't deserve that...my thoughts and prayers to you and yours.

Re: OOC #26

the oldest  girl got in a text  war  with the 'mom'..  they call the New Mom..mom..last Oct when they were Married, she had all three of the grils come up and she portmised infront of everyone to be the ebst Mom she could be...

the odlest..at the  age of  7-8..had to change diapers  and feed her sisters, becaus eth Mom was drunk on the coach..and her mOm was  watching TV in the rec Room...

Oddly enough.. the court that said  she  should have more visting..is the same   peopel who said   the  pervert didn't rape kids at Penn State... lots of lee way given  for drunks out there ( state College) because they make money off the parites  and such...

a funny side bar.. they came over to my county , to check out ..my house.. to make sure it was  'good living conditons'.. we had to  make sure  are houses  was   set up sa=fe..years before   for  the Oldest, whenshe  went through crap like this.

as  we  sat there.. the  Younger lady was going to take the lttile ones up stairs to see thier bed roonms ( snoop around)..while the older woman talked to me..

I started out  saying"..Sure Look around, both sized of the house  are connected...by the way? where is John?...."

they looked shocked , because he was the guy who had  handled the  case at the start..

" Oh? he Retired..Guess he felt It was Time.."

I picked the paper  up off the dinning room table and showed them the ehad line , that there  had some big thing going on with the Penn State Case  and had to dig a little deeper..." is this why he retired?"

 they were both shocked...

as a Shop steward.. i guy who could have retired  was hanging on to 'max out"..he had  what is called a 'run away".. you get out of your truck with the engine runnign, but  didn't put it in park and it  runs away... his  was  Monor..rolled  about  20  yards  and got  stuck in a ditch...The were head  hunting Roll away and runaways... and?  if they could nail him for it..he would lose everyhting..which would make management some Money... My Head Union guy told me to tell him to retire...because  his paperwork would beat the Post master's paperwork... and though i ahted the PM? the PM liked this guy so he was  going to hold the  papers  to give him time... he made it  ..retired  without losing anyhting...

that Jphn guy? had they found him to be guilty of not protecting the kids?... he would have lost everything..so he bailed.

Somerset Courts seem to side with the Kids?  so? we'll see.

Re: OOC #26

While we're ven5ing...

As they've 4elqx3d quarantine around here, Covid numbers have been rising...FAST.  We are now, as a state, reporting as many new cases per day as we had total, six weeks ago.  So the local health department is tightening up a little bit.

As a result, the park posted online that, starting Monday, patrons would be required to wear masks 8n ride queues.

Holy shit!  You would think, from the comments, that the park was asking people to donate organs of conscript their kids or something!  "Wish we hadn't gotten our season passes now...masks are dumb!" was the most common response, people started bitching about how the park wasn't limiting capacity (it is), about too many people crowding together in lines (guessing the people complaining are some of the worst offenders)...on and on...  There were a handful of people who very fervently said tank you for the additional protective measures.

One of the guys who commented was a former EMT on the park (I don't know if he still is)...but he pointed out that the policy was ONLY while in lines...not while you were on a ride, or walking around the park, or at the waterpark...(I'm guessing he isn't currently employed by the park, because commenting on social media in a way that casts aspersions on the intelligence of complaining individuals is heavily frowned upon, no matter how warranted it is.

I'm at the point where I'd be okay if park security started evicting patrons without masks, no matter where they are.  If I can survive in a mask for a nine-hour shift, they can survive wearing a mask for a few minutes while they're waiting in line, or watching a show.

I am SOOOO sick of whiny, entitled, self-indulgent people.  I'm sick of people kvetching about problems they're helping create.  And I'm starting to worry that some jackass who's too good for a mask is going to get the park shut down for the rest of the summer.

Re: OOC #26

we are slowly opening here.. i went to the hallmark stroe to day to get  cards for the kids.. they  had a sign to wear masks.. i go in..maybe?  6 people in the store..all have Masks  except  a little 6  year old kid... what mother protects her self, and not her  kid.

then i went down to the Giant Eagle   grocery store.. i go there   when i need backery stuff, becaus ethe lttie  store i got to doesn't carry that..
all the workers have Masks... about  Half the  customers  had them.. as I'm pickign up my cake this  guys looks  aat me and sneers,  I just Laughed  at him..

he said  somehting  to 'no one" about  ' people could die tomorrow'... I said, " only the  stupid choose the Virus"... he didn't like that, two girls giggled though.

Sundays?  when we play fotball..no one wears  masks, But   we don't Huddle, we play flag, and  we're more then  6 feet away, unless your the guy with the ball who got his flag pulled.

I dunno?.. anywhere inside  i'd  wear the mask... and if i was outside in a closed pack group..i would have one....I don't like the Mask?.. but? why take the chance?

Re: OOC #26

Masks are more to protect other people from getting the virus from you... as you can catch it, be asymtomatic, and yet very infectious.

That said, I have a large shemag (desert scarf) which I wrap around my face. Not that I'm going out much. The University is still not letting anyone in at all, there are plans to let people who need to use laboratory equipment for research in soon, and they are having to jump through hoops to prove that they absolutely cannot work without going in. I'm part of a working group that is working out how to provide specialist software to students so that we can run virtual labs in September. No idea when those of us who work in offices will be allowed back...

... and I'm not missing getting up at 5am to hang about on drafty platforms for trains that never seem to run on time, anyway.

I can do all that I need to from here. Teach, supervise, mark...

On other things, people who cannot or will not look after their youngster properly should not be let anywhere near them.

Re: OOC #26

sorry ive been busy folks, real good rains and a cracked/leaking concrete foundation that we found yesterday, an old iron pipe going through the foundation seems to be leaking in the portion that's INSIDE the concrete, causing us to have water on the basement floor. and that pipe is the grey water out drain for the kithchen, laundry room AND the basement sump pump for the basement deep sink for the laundryroom, so, digging yesterday outside the house, moving storage items AND the shelves they sit on, and at the local Home Depot store for supplies.
So wI'm going to post for Slick real quick, and then check my other game, and then I'm gonna fall asleep. lol

Geez, Slick...do what you've gotta do.  The game will be here, but your home should be the priority.

Had another round of "call the wah-mbulance" commentary today on another post from the park.  I kinda wanted to cheer when one lady said she would NOT be going to the park as long as the mask policy was in place, and someone else replied, "GREAT!  One less person to wait behind to get on rides!"  I almost...ALMOST...responded to someone else's comment about masks not protecting the wearer...something came to mind along the lines of, "So wear it to protect the poor kids STUCK operating the rides you thankless goons are whining about!"...but I KNOW that would definitely get me in trouble.  Doing a lot of taking Thumper the Rabbit's advice..."If you can't say anything nice..."

Poor Sgt. Ade...I think my frustration with the ignorant mindset of so many people has resulted in Roy being a little extra-prickly...although knowing that he spent three years on the Clara Barton under Col Col Cummings explains a lot...

And on a TOTALLY different note...I've found a whole new joy in working at the movie theater.  Tonight, I watched the original Alien movie...first time I've ever seen it on a big screen.  It's aged really well...there were only a couple of effects sequences that felt, to me, like they were cheesy or dated, and the writing is still top-notch.

Actually, I was thinking about Lirg when I said that...but, yeah, I'm sure a few of 'em will just about wet themselves when they see a Demon in ESN blue...*laugh*

ETA:  And the 'pep talk' would have been milder if they hadn't appeared right on the heels of Sgt. Ade making an ass of himself.  Roy's already hyper-conscious of the problem...but it's also been over half a decade...there are toy sets out there with the alien troops in them.  People should not still be shocked by them...even though they are.
