Re: OOC #26
While we're ven5ing...
As they've 4elqx3d quarantine around here, Covid numbers have been rising...FAST. We are now, as a state, reporting as many new cases per day as we had total, six weeks ago. So the local health department is tightening up a little bit.
As a result, the park posted online that, starting Monday, patrons would be required to wear masks 8n ride queues.
Holy shit! You would think, from the comments, that the park was asking people to donate organs of conscript their kids or something! "Wish we hadn't gotten our season passes now...masks are dumb!" was the most common response, people started bitching about how the park wasn't limiting capacity (it is), about too many people crowding together in lines (guessing the people complaining are some of the worst offenders)...on and on... There were a handful of people who very fervently said tank you for the additional protective measures.
One of the guys who commented was a former EMT on the park (I don't know if he still is)...but he pointed out that the policy was ONLY while in lines...not while you were on a ride, or walking around the park, or at the waterpark...(I'm guessing he isn't currently employed by the park, because commenting on social media in a way that casts aspersions on the intelligence of complaining individuals is heavily frowned upon, no matter how warranted it is.
I'm at the point where I'd be okay if park security started evicting patrons without masks, no matter where they are. If I can survive in a mask for a nine-hour shift, they can survive wearing a mask for a few minutes while they're waiting in line, or watching a show.
I am SOOOO sick of whiny, entitled, self-indulgent people. I'm sick of people kvetching about problems they're helping create. And I'm starting to worry that some jackass who's too good for a mask is going to get the park shut down for the rest of the summer.
