Hearing the plan, his eyes sprang open and he looked about. When the AI moved forward he followed them down the ramp and off the Shuttle. Landing he rolled forward into a crouching instant posture. Several Angle troopers looked in the the direction of the Hermes Assault team, their hesitation gave him an opportunity to fire a sweeping burst into them. Three Angeles hitting the ground in a bloody bullet riddled heap.

  The AI and  those  with them  stomped  down the  ramps, Kira  leading in the other three  mechs   by a     breach in the   about a 1/2  Mile  east of the Southern Gate...

 Kira   COMs that the  'beacon' is   another  1/2  mile to the east of them.

  two fighters   were Zipping over the Rubble  and between buildings, One was  Higher then the othe.. the other looked like itnwas playing chicken with the tall Building

The Athena  wing was Just passing   over  and  Making their    turn to the west... the   Hermes  wing were  Just dots  in the  sky  ans they made  their turn to the East.

  Stoly  didn't mess  with the   Breach...  he landed   just inside  it.. sending  his two rockets , randomly, Deep into the   city...

  The Bubble    Gunners   Oepned up on  any Movement.  they  didn't check   whether there were  weapons or not.. their only thought  was the  pilot  and  makign sure  there  were a hellva lot more dead angles  they  APF.

 The shuttle Cross  was in  laned to the   South East  of  south Gate.. , they  found  Angel troops.. and their  battle began early...   The Gava  and felrites poured out,     the  end of the   city hands  some grass and trees, may have l been places to  hide the walls from the inside,  so people felt  more 'open'..

 the Angels there were seeing Now, and some Black Uniformed   officers with them.

  Tarja    got  the COMs   from  Kira.  three groups of  angels    where Moving towards the   Beacon... there were  4  Groups   But they were scattered  By a   white-tailed fighter.. they as   popping  out  from around  Buildings.

     they  could  see the shattered city and the  once  beautiful streets    covered not , in mostly  rubble...  There  was snooting... 1500...1600   yards a way.

Henry checked his comm for her beacon signal. Maybe Mila and he could get her whilst the others kept the Angels busy...

 Henry ( like the others)  would be able to get the idea  of where  she is. from the bacon on thie  COMs  or Vidboards ( or  if they had HUD   facemasks.

     There was a    Hum instead of a  roar  as    the  white  tail finned   19    Zipped  pas  a  building. Shadow has  his  Vents  closed  now, the  gun  fire masked   most of   his  appearances..It was like a   massive  shark in a ship wreck.

   This  didn't  deter angel trops  from going  builing to  building.  hunting the   pilot, and  gettign shot  at My ESN  people

 Meari jumped out with Tarja and opened up on the bad guys using her galling gun knowing they had plenty of ammo.

 Meari would also target a group of Angels with a mini missile and then open fire. They needed to make noise.

 NA-CE was with the SM and she was ready to treat the pilot once they rescued her.

It wouldn’t take the armoured infantry to clear the gatehouse roof of defenders, with Tarja almost casually tossing the final Angel trooper over the roof parapet to fall two storeys to the concrete below. Meanwhile Conrad and Belle would kick open the door to the stairwell and set about fighting the Angels on the floor below, with Velta and Penny firing upon those within the nearby buildings.

Upon receiving Kira’s message that there were three groups moving to intercept the pilot, Tarja would bring up the map on her HUD and locate the pilot’s beacon before speaking to the the team ”Tennis, Conrad with me, we’re to engage group to the North, Meari take Barlett and Nimrod and engage group to the south, we’ll move on final group together” she instructed before moving out with the rest her fire team to take out the angels before they found the pilot.

Roy gestured for the group to follow him, moving down the street with weapon up and firing at anything that remotely resembled a target.  "Don't you fuckin' quit on me, Ensign...I've got a shuttle load of troopers coming to you and I'm gonna be mad as hell if it was for nothing!" he barked out.

He paused, looking to the largs.  "Larry, Freddy...change of plans.  We're going to keep moving, but get up there and bring her back.  We'll keep cover fire going, but it sounds like we're running out of time.  One of you carry her, the other one provide cover action.  Go, now!"  The largs could be there and back to them in less time than it would take them to get halfway there, even if one of them was carrying Liste.

"Listen, Ensign...I'm sending the largs out for you.  Trust them...they aren't going to hurt you, no matter what it looks like, and right now they're your best bet for getting out in a hurry.  Keep working toward us, we're coming to you."

 Then...the Horns    sounded.... as   the  White tailed   fighter    flew down the   Liste's Street, and there they were.. the hover  tank and  a bunch of  Angels... the   were    moving out from  under  a building that had a  'bridhe  like  structure they used to hid  from the   fighters.

 SM.. I'm dropping  down to street level..there  is  troops  and  Armor under  a bridge, Building.. there  are  two more clusters..  one is  about  3  Blocks  ahead to you...and another    that are Moving towards  the  south gate....

 An Angel Captain shouted over the All COMs...So..it  is true,,  You have the ego  the size of the SUN... You cannot take us  all, and we will  make that  'little Girl  Pilot' enjoy the   gifts of angel Kind..

 right then...... all of  Shadow weapons  Opened  up and  kept    firing  until the  37 MMs  were dry....

  Larry   had  appeared with Freddie  both thump their tails  as the scared pilot   crawled up on   Larry. then they were gone.

 when the   dust and smoke  cleared , The captain and the other troops pointed at him...YOU MISSED!...NOW...YOU DIED...

  you're wrong Clarance... sitting in a fighter... I never miss... with  wasn't unit  pair of  stops  from the build  fell and hit the   ground, the Undermined  'bridge, couldn't hold  the  weight  and the Building  dropped  down on some 30 troopers and  three tanks...

   The mechs   saw  the other Unit   charging towards them.

  Lyri   , was onto the  wall , Nifty right next to her... they talked to  each other  ' Tall Guy on the   Rif"... " red hat on the  right"..and they would shoot,, and a head  would vanish as  50 cals  slammed into them

 Lizzy did her last strafe, she saw a group of troops, she flew a little too low and she took some hits, but when she pulled up she saw a hidden AA gun and used her 37mm to blow it to the 9 hells.

 Then they went to rescue Liste, Lizzy would fly cover and then she decided with Nikki, to make more noise at the gates. Lizzy would head for the gates with the Mechs and she would hunt for bad guys with Nikki right beside her.

Roy grinned darkly.  "Hey, Shadow...don't know if you have any tags on board, but if you do, and you see any more of those hover tanks, tag 'em.  Morningstar probably can't see them from his angle, but if you've got a tag telling him where to shoot...they won't be there for long."  He kept up fire, keeping the Angels in the area looking for Human troopers, rather than largs carrying a wounded pilot.

Rooftops and smaller buildings kept erupting with fire from heavy pulse coming from somewhere up in the sky, but Roy didn't even waste the time trying to identify it...he'd have to zoom pretty heavily with his helmet visor to have a chance of seeing the Morningstar a couple of miles up, and if anything happened on the ground while he was zoomed in, it would be valuable fractions of a second readjusting to being able to see his immediate surroundings effectively.

"Keep 'em busy!  These assholes haven't fought a serious ground engagement since before my ancestors came to the Americas, so let's show them what's changed in the last thousand years!"  He kept moving forward, using a bounding overwatch system to lay down cover fire with one part of his group while the other part moved up, set up, and then returned the favor for the first group.  All the while, .50cal rounds from the shuttle's bubble guns were zipping overhead, the 'crack' of their passage often sounding at the same time they were slamming into targets or background several dozen yards or more down the street.

When he recognized the tell-tale signs of the largs coming back at speed, he added, "Na-Ce!  Drop back to the shuttle, you've got a patient coming in on larg med-evac!"

 NA-CE dropped back and replied," Already done SM." NA-CE headed for the shuttle to meet the pilot and the Largs. NA-CE got everything ready for when the pilot showed up, she knew she had been shot a few times so she had what she needed for pulse hits at the ready.

  Shadow answered, <DarkGreena>ll i have  is Tags and Pulse.... I'll shoot  some tags..even if they don't  stick they'll be  close..</DarkGreen>

 NA-CE would meet the Largs and carefully help Liste down and begin checking her out and working on her wounds in the shuttle and ready to go. " Ok your safe where were you hit and do you have any other wounds?"

As they started their run from East to West, Madison spotted an Anti Aircraft battery hidden under an arched structure. It was shielded from above, and there were troops all around it. Even as she watched, it brought down an Athena fighter. It still had clear range of the sky but the only way to hit it was to come in low. Madison knew it had to be taken out

"Okay partner, I'm going in for that AA down there under the arch. It might hurt but it's going away"

Turning down into a dive, Madison got low, strafing the the ground with her pulse cannons. Troops were burning in her wake but she was low enough for to be exposed to portable AA. They were hitting her hard, but not so hard that she had to abort. The big AA placement was dead ahead. As she started her approach, it turned on her, but it was too late. She went into her corkscrew and fired everything. The AA guns, and the structure exploded. It was a perfect run but she did get a bit close. The explosions and flying debris banged up her bird. Yellow lights were flashing on her board.

"Ow. That one hurt. A LOT. But I'm still in the fight."

 Lizzy came in for her first East Wes rub, she started her approach and she spitted armor hidden behind some rubble but only from the front. This is where Lissy's years of flying took over and she made a turn through the streets she was low bit she was moving, she came at the armor from the other side and opened up all guns and it made a huge fireball, she got a very minor hit.

 Lizzy on the next part of her run knew what she was looking for now and spotted another hidden AA gun. Lizzy plotted a course that would be fun as she came at the AA gun low and fast, she then opened fired with everything and pulled up hard, she got minor shrapnel and pulled away for another run.

"Morningstar, fire mission," Roy spoke crisply.  Only the gleam in his eyes indicated the pleasure he had in anticipation of the results.  "Tags out on multiple bogeys, all are outside danger-close.  Fire for effect..."

Within moments, he was sure, the Angel formations would be slammed with a mixture of artillery like they'd never experienced before...

He took a moment to assess the situation...whether they could hold the position they were in now or if they should withdraw.  The original plan had been for a hit-and-run to retrieve the pilot...they had Liste back on the shuttle...

"Don't be a hero, Sarge..." he muttered to himself.  Even if their current position was secure for the moment, the shuttle would have to leave to take the wounded ensign back for more intensive treatment, and if the tide shifted against them while Stoly was making a med-evac run, they'd be stuck.

"Fighting withdrawal, overwatch protocols.  The reverse of what we did to get here, withdraw to the shuttle."  If the situation stabilized by then, they didn't have to board the shuttle, after all.  But there were a lot of lives here to gamble with, and urban fighting, especially in architecture you weren't familiar with, was always a rough gamble.  They could afford to play it safe for a little while...

"Copy fire mission..."  Even as he acknowledged the call, the AI added the tags to the tracking information on the targeting array.  A lot of the tags weren't on specific targets...that would be why the call was to fire for effect.

"Okay, Ed...I want HE here, here, and here.  Pound everything in between with heavy pulse.  Repeat pattern here..."  He designated three points in tight proximity to another cluster of tags.

"As for these, air-burst frag, ten meters altitude."  The fragmentation spread wouldn't be very large, from that height, but it would be dense and focused, and just about the width of the city street that the Angels were trying to advance down.

"Hit each one for thirty seconds of sustained fire, then switch.  After the whole sequence, we'll see if anything that isn't APF is still moving and decide what to do then."

There was a slight shift in the Morningstar's attitude, putting the howitzer barrel on a more direct line for the targets in question...and the guns went to work.

A trio of rockets would explode in amongst the Angels as Tarja led her small three man team to intercept one of the Angel groups moving towards the pilot. Ducking behind a decorative pillar she raise her right arm and fire upon the Angels as chips of stone bounced off of her armour, with Tennis and Conrad likewise firing from behind cover.

As the firefight raged on around her, she would eventually hear from the cross chatter that the pilot had been recovered and that her new friend would be commencing a fire mission on the Angels. Which was perhaps for the best as although they were brutally effective she doubted her small team could do much more than to hold the enemy up ”How are things looking Meari?” she commed, having sent her rather capable sergeant off to engage another unit ”…prepare to fall back to shuttles…make enemy hurt!” she said gunning down an Angel officer that had been a little too brave for his own good.

  Shadow  hit All COMs...I have to get reloaded  and some patches... Is Liste able to travel   by  fighter, with me?

 NA-CE    Say  Larry look uo with  mournful eyes.. As the angel med tech  slide   Liste off the  Larg..... seh  could  see the wide open eyes of  fear...the tear stained face..and her  mouth was slightly opened... the scans  showed she  had  died  with in the last 2 minutes or so.

 the  sounds  of   hard  ammo hugging down through the air, and   the  sizzle   of Pulse    merged into Impact  sounds and Vibrations. The  arches...while sturdy enough, where never  mean to take  punishment like that

 after a few seconds  they  fell as well.. taking  tanks and angels with them.

  Near Kat then  the force that was  attacking LT Cross's  group  began  to  feel the pounding, mixed  with Kat's  heavy pulse, as she too , had  run dry of  37MM as she tried to protect the   group.. her  aircraft  was  trailing, white vapor...

 Gava  and  felrites  retreated  back to the    shuttle , the Iron  guard   helped them pick of stragglers for  the  punishment  of  Karl's  Machine.

 The mechs  and   AI  were   holding  their  ground  with slight advancement..  tiny missiles    destroyed   numerous  Angels.. those who didn't  die,   where trying to  grab legs or arms that were no longer there.....then came Karl's rain..

 Lyri  said into ALL COMs..  We  have a   foothoold  at the  South gate...  The shelling  removed the main group.. our metal lobsters, are cleaning up stays..what do  we  do?

 Nifty  could be hear saying...I got  10!....

Assoles he thought then glancedcabout. Making his way to the outer wall he quickly packed portions of a block of C10 in a arch rigging it to creat a breech. Once completed he scanned the immediate area for a target building.

 Meari led her group to hold off and push back the Angels, the Angels had a heavy weapon's nest. Meari then launched two mini missiles at the nest, then said," Ok you two cover me, I am taking it out."

 Meari then used her jump jets and in the air drew her swords and when she landed in the nest she cut in half anything that moved. Meari cleared the nest and responded to Tarja," We are good just took out a heavy weapons nest, moving forward.

 Meari would see more Angels she picked up the Angel heavy pulse and tried to open fire on the Angels with their own heavy weapon.

 NA-CE carefully moved the body to the shuttle, she gave Larry a pat on the head," You tried Larry she was just hit to much." NA-CE then said on all coms," Liste has been recovered her wounds were to severe she died in route." NA-CE actually showed some emotion, she really wanted the chance to help her but they were too late.
