I'm at the point where I'm willing to do a lot of these kinds of projects myself just so I don't have to deal with the landlord/manager/handyman intruding on my space.  It doesn't help that my apartment's a disaster area right now.  I went through my closet a few weeks ago and picked out about fifty shirts that I haven't worn in ages...and my closet still looks like it's overstuffed.

I've got a bunch of costuming stuff that I should just get rid of...most of it, I acquired because various friends were involved in different kinds of projects and I thought they'd turn into long-term commitments, but they just never panned out.  The guy I used to work with who was planning to start his own touring magic show ended up becoming a rodeo clown, instead...all the costumes I got for the girls who had been his assistants are sitting in boxes.  The friend that had the burlesque troupe has moved on to more general corporate entertainment, so the stuff I got thinking I'd be making costumes for her shows is now sitting in boxes.  The movie that I was supposed to be costume designing dropped into Limbo over a decade ago, and I still have costume pieces that I'd put together for that sitting around...

It's partly the ADHD...something more interesting comes along and I decide to do that instead of spending an hour or two trying to restore order to my apartment...but a few times over the past few months, I've hit that "I'm done living with this, it's time to fix it RIGHT NOW" threshold.  If I can string enough of them together, I could actually get my apartment back to something vaguely presentable and then I wouldn't be quite as opposed to strangers coming in to fix stuff...

But it would still be "not as opposed", I don't want them there.  It's worth the price of supplies to me to have them stay away.

*grumble grumble*  So, the advance check I'm supposed to be getting for my next upcoming freelance gig (well, it was my next until I booked doing makeup for a publicity shoot for a show, this weekend) apparently got sent out last week, and then returned to the sender for some bizarre reason, and is getting sent out again THIS week.  Hopefully, right away...

I'd be fine, financially, IF my landlord had handled this month's rent check the way he normally does.  But, instead of hanging onto it until the middle of the month (which is the norm for him), he took it to the bank just a few days after he took LAST month's rent check...

Now, I know...you're supposed to keep track of checks you've written and account for them when you're figuring out your available balance.  I really struggle with that with my ADHD...it's just not a pressing priority often enough to make it habit.  So, when I went to Vegas, I had enough money in my account to cover ONE rent check, plus trip expenses.  When the second check hit the bank, it threw everything into disarray.

This advance check would have been way more than enough to cover the problem...and it still will be, WHEN IT FINALLY GETS HERE.  But right now, I'm limited in how far I can go on this project, because some of the supplies I was going to use are readily available on Amazon, but all I have left, pretty much, is the cash that was in my wallet when I came home from Vegas, until after next weekend.  That was supposed to be the whole reason for paying me ahead of time...cover supplies for the project, and then they also added on the rest they were going to pay me for labor, just to make it easy.  No check means I'm at a screeching halt on ordering anything from anywhere, unless I can walk in and pay cash for it, and there just aren't that many places around here that carry the kind of foam sheeting I was looking at...

So, yeah...I'm a little bitter right now.  I'll get over it as soon as I get paid...either by the park, or by the organization I'm building this thing for (the movie theater paycheck goes to a different bank.)
