 The QM was  slightly off kilter as he looked at Henry, then to the Vampic.

  well... sign  right 'ere an'  we'll see  what  we can do fer ya...need  sizes  and the like...

 he punches  up  a  catalog  on another Vid board, There's  out  Long arms we have in stock.. an' if yer  wonderin'..yes...SMGs  count as  a Long arm.. yer  allowed  One  Long arm in yer  quarters...  you pick up  somethin', buy somethin'..or pull somthin' of a  dead one..  ye gotta  store it here, under yer  name..

   Garrat arrives with Mortica "The required on ship equipment is one boot knife and one side arm.  I personally tend to have one throwing knife in each boot one survival knife and one pistol.  These are required to be on your person at all times.  In one instance I think I saw Hack pulled out of bed with PJ's and a belt with these weapons on them.  We take this seriously and it has saved our bacon." He looks at his translation chip questioningly.

   It gives him akin to a Texas accent and some times it's choice of words surprise him.

She looks at the weapons she wears and back to the QM and Garret. She moves through the available long arms, nodding with approval at what she sees.

"I'd like the G36A2 with the LLM01 Laser Light Module 01, 40 mm AG36 under-barrel grenade launcher, and pistol grip.'

She signs the required paperwork and writes down her sizes. "I'm here with nothing but what's on me. Can I get an advance or promissory note to purchase personal items? Everything I had was on the Void."

Henry stood quietly... wondering if he'd actually remembered to carry a sidearm and a knife like he was supposed to. He decided not to frisk himself right now. Could prove embarassing.

"What do you need, Mortica?"

“Under clothes, socks, off duty wear, toiletries like soap, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc. And I umm...well, my whole collection of Captain Thunder action figures.” She said, a little bit of colour ring n her cheeks.

   The QM   nods  and  Punches  up the weapon, but he says,..ye get one grenade  round..  if yer   gettin' ready ta   drop, you can  pull an order for a  Bandoleer .. the figuri8ng  is.. if some one  has   one grenade  round, they  can nlu7  hurt one bunch of people....also?.. no C-10  or  HAnd grenades  are allowe3d in your quarters.

 ..now the Unifortm is paif  for by the Fleet... You'll have ta  get fittedf  fer a Dress unifrom.. anything esle you wann get  , you can hit  shops   on in the Civie section.. your  Chip will cover that...I think you will find the LT quarters is  stocked  fairly well with a limited  suplly of  food  and such.. and you can add to that..as you  need .

Henry giggled.

"Don't be embarassed - loads of people here collect action figures. Mostly because they have a range of ones depicting people on the Hermes..."

“That’s good to know, thank you. I’ll get some shopping done today. Maybe I can...umm..replace my Hamlet stuffed...action figure.”  she said as more colour rose in her cheeks.

She turned to Lyri. “How do I find my duty assignment? I was ostensibly Security on the Void but I’ve had special operations training so I was combat dropped on the ground with our version of your Marines. Plus I have other, special talents.”

  "That would be SGT Spencer, for duty assignment.  Joe MacPhearson carries a good line of action figures in the civie section at his coffee/hobbie shop."

"I'm ready to go, Sgt," she told Lyri once it was evident they were done with the QM.

   The QM  slid the Unifrom  over to her,..these are ready Now?.. you cam  pick up  yer  weapon in about an hour, soon as me  Lads  and Lasses put  clean it, and make sure the Ops  work.

 Lyri's  eyes   slanted towards   Mortica,..Master  Chief.. I am a Navy Woman... Let's Go...

  and they ehad to teh elevators  for the  Officers  Quarters... henry and Mila  in tow, unless they wishes  other wise.

"Understood and thank you. I can't wait to get this uniform off and this one on," she indicated the new uniform. "I'm ready, Master Chief," she said, following Lyri to the lifts.

Once they were on she turned to Lyri. "I understand you don't like me. I understand why and can't argue your reasoning at all but a good officer knows when to listen to her noncoms so will you help me learn what I need to know to be good at my job?"

  Lyri  looks over  at Morticia  as  they  went up the  elevator.   She  says  Cooly,..On this  Boat?  In this Fleet..Officers  have to show  they will   Take the same Risks as they make thier troops take.....  We have to know, that our leaders   will not  let us  down... and the two main things....  1..Kill lots of   enemies...2... keep as many of us alive  as you are able..

 ..You watch  the Admiral, Teh Commander?   Roy?.. Shadow?  Rivets  and  Morris.. all of them have faults that will rob some folks the  wrong  way..but there isn't a  crewman on this boat that wouldn't take a Pulse round for them... 'cept maybe that  new Jackass pilot?..we have a   new Kid on board,, damn ink wasn't even dry on his enlistment sheet  and He  dove out  the   Static  field to make sure the Admiral didn't  die, making    Point ,  yesterday..

 there aree thousands of  poloticans out there, that would  have  'tried to make nice'  with the Vampic..to win them over.. But the Admiral  was  ready to level  your whol planet. because of the Crap your people  pulled at the party.... the prisoners?  that was  just the Icing.. It was just 'proof'  that whatever  we were gonna do.. was  'right'....

   Lyri's   eyes softened a bit,..look?  these people are my family.. and there  are more  dead,  or gone, then are here... but each one that comes aboard?... well.. They are  new  family... Its  easy for me, I  was  pushed through  the academy.. My parents didn't care.. as long I wasn't  doing something stupid...she chuckles,..boy?  were  they wrong!

 so?..  what can i offer you?... not much.. 'cept what i just said...maybe the SM, or Shadow...?.. Rivets  will tell you to  follow orders.. Morris  will tell you to follow  regs

  ..that don't much work out here?  This  war..total war?... we  see helpless   slaughtered, or worse... yet.. Combatants  think they should get a  break?..so?..  the only thing  i can tell you... You have to get folks  wanting you to follow you  when the ramp drops

Mortica nodded. "Don't bother trying to get them to like me, get to know I belong here. That's what I was told earlier and that's what I shall do." She laughed. "Something tells me I can expect a lot of empty tables and solitary meals for some time but no worries. I'll do the best job I can do and prove to people my joining wasn't a mistake and that I'm serious in my intent."

She nodded. "Thank you, Master Chief. For everything."

Henry and Mila followed along quietly.

-> Officers' quarters.

Before heading back to her quarters she stopped by to make a few requests for replacement of clothing and a few extra t-shirts.  She knew some she'd have to pay for but most was damaged on assignments so there was no cost.  Talking with the person on duty about it.  Also she asked to get a wall mounted monitor to replace the desk top version.  It would help clear some space up.  Being poor and often in crowded conditions she knew that item placements meant a lot.
After about 15 minutes her projects there were done and she went on her merry way.

    Garrat arrives. "I'm here to pick up a package on Kira's behalf."

  The Clerk in charge ( that is to say, has to wait her turn for leave)   She retrived   the package  and handed it to Garrat.

  1"m SGT  Garrat? I will have it logged that you picked this  up  is  the  Kira's  name...

"Thank you sir."  Garrat continues to deliver the Package.

As He went to the QMs lockers.  He went to look for an Acquisition Officer, so He could request the necessary items he would need to keep people looking down on his pacifistic philosophy, but that wasn't something he was going to ever give up, so long as he lived. He would rather die, then kill for any cause he was behind. There was a great quote by Ghandi that was similar to that.
