Re: Non-com quarters

---> From QMs Lockers

Daniel stepped out of the elevator and into the hallway. He started walking towards his quarters. He was fairly sure of where it was but he still found himself looking at each and every door, checking if it was his. He was a fairly quick learner. But he was trying to dedicate everything he had heard today to memory which he was finding rather difficult. Eventually Daniel made it back to his quarters and released a sigh of relief as he was finally 100% sure he wasn't lost.

Opening the door Daniel stepped into his room and looked around it for a moment. He decided on where he'd put his SCAR carefully and eventually picked a spot at the end of the room. He dropped off everything else leaving only his knife and sidearm on his person. He turned to Garrat after he was done, if he had followed Daniel, and gave him a curt nod. Where will we find the Major then?

Non Com Quarters>>>>>>>

She lead Melia to her quarters and invited her in. She introduced her to Tobias kitty, and offered a seat and a stiff drink. She offered her a shot of 20 yr old Kentucky Bourbon. She sat on her bed and looked at Melia.

"I don't actually have a project, I was just trying to come up with an excuse to get you out of there. But I do actually have a bedding box for plants down on the farm level if you are interested in doing some light gardening for a stress relieving hobby in a quiet area with few people around.
It might be a great place to visit for kids and pets too. They have kittens down there too. That's where I found Toby."

Re: Non-com quarters

The anxiety attack had started to fade, and Melia's breathing was under control. "Sorry, it was well. Hard to explain without making it worse again," She takes a deep breath, "The new guy. Daniel. He stared too long. That's what started it." She says not adding any additional details, wanting to let the attack pass completely. "I can help if you'd like, I've never worked in a garden before. Thank you for helping me," She adds quietly.

"No real need to thank me Melia. I too have my scars and troubles to deal with. It's good to know that we aren't alone though. I'm always here if you ever need to talk, or just want to chill out. I'll even just sit silently and read if you ever just want company without talking. I have a hot pot so I can even make tea or hot cocoa, and the kitty will be glad to snuggle if you pet him I'm sure."

She offered another shot, or even a cup of tea or broth or cocoa if she wants it. She gets her vid screen and shows her her garden box in the farm area so if Melia is interested, she can go claim one or work on hers.

"Men don't always understand the pressure they put on woman just looking hungry or interested if the female isn't interested at all. Just try not to pay attention to them of you can avoid it. Their stares don't obligate any action from us Sis."

She reaches over and places her hand briefly on Melia's shoulder to show her sympathy. Then she went to fill up the hot pot with water and plugged it in to heat for a cup of tea or two.

"I'm making a cup of tea. Would you like one?"

Melia nods, "it's hard not to pay attention. There's a chunk of my life where that attention was my life, nothing else. It made me... more sensitive to it since I got away from that, even the slightest glance is a dice roll. Will I freeze up and panic? Sometimes I get angry and violent. It's scary because so far it's happened in a productive way protecting me in combat, and not allowing to hurt friends or crew, but the difficult part is what if it changes and I hurt some one else. I mean I don't have it as bad as some people." She explains kind of vaguely in a self depreciating manner.

Re: Non-com quarters

"Have you sought treatment? Medications or Meditation? Dance or yoga? Or Martial Arts like Coup de Vitesse? Something that helps you center yourself, your consciousness? That might help, if you can learn to center yourself when someone seems to make demands upon you that you do not welcome."

She set the tea tray down, with electric tea pot, tea cups, sugar, sweetener, oranges and lemons, milk and Chai. She had also added some special "tea" chocolates and petite fours.

"How do you take your tea? I have several types in tiny tins so if you have a favorite, just ask. Black tea, Green tea, and white tea, Oolong to Spider-leg, Pu-erh, Rooibus, Yer-ba Ma-te. Even an herbal blend or two, and Strawberry tea. Earl Grey and SleepyTyme. And of course, Lipton. It was a gift from an old friend. She knew I'd likely not be able to get real teas out here. You're the first one I've invited to share it with. I have a special mixture that can help you to relax while staying alert if you like."

She set about using very tiny measuring spoons to dole out various teas into a tiny mortar and crushed it lightly with a small pestal then mixed it completely. Once done she doles out a teaspoon of the mix into each cup and pours hot water over it. She sets one cup beside Melia and one beside herself. She takes teeny tiny green and red sugar cubes and places 1 in each cup.

"Let it sit for 2 minutes then sip it slowly, with your eyes closed. Breathe in the scent. It's a wonderful experience!"

Melia nods, "Extensive treatment, after I was... recovered..." She thinks for a moment, "Well after many treatments, and a fair bit of testing and experiments on my physiology I was cleared to enlist. While at basic training I picked up shooting, and I often go to the range t work off stress, and clear my mind." She pauses sipping the tea, "It's why I have less trouble on missions, I'm focused then but going through daily life in that mindset is taxing. I did it and lived it for a long time." She says quietly taking another sip, "this is really good. Hey the pregame is about to start shortly, we should either find a screen or get to the briefing room so we don't miss out on any details." She smiles gently, "I'm sorry for taking you away from the rec deck, thank you for helping me."

Re: Non-com quarters

She reached over and turned the screen on for the pre-game for her. She smiled at her then took another sip of tea.

"It's hard sometimes to make it through some days and others, I sail right through. I agree, it's easier when you can focus on things. But sometimes we need quiet time to get back in touch with ourselves. Maybe we can't find ourselves so we have to reinvent ourselves, you know? Sometimes I can't remember who I was before the attacks. I try to find who I was but things seem so far away. Like looking through the wrong end of a telescope. The best thing I can say is to make yourself into who you want to be and don't let anyone tell you you aren't that person. Make it so. If they can't take who you want to be, forget them. If you must, take it one hour at a time. Or a half hour. Then increase the time you are that person you want to be. Kind of like acts in a play, right?

"Say to yourself "Today I am strong, independent, brave. I refuse to be that person that was before." Then work at it until you become the person you want to be. Unless it's superman, or iron man. That would be kind of weird, wouldn't you say?"

She laughs at her joke then finishes her tea.

"If you want to go to the pre-game event, I can meet you up there in a bit. Or you can watch it here. If you don't mind, I'll just step into the bathroom and take a quick shower. I feel all greasy from cooking. I won't be long though. I'll just grab a change of clothes and head in. If you decide to head out though, be sure not to let Toby out, ok?"

She quickly grabbed a change of clothes and a towel and stepped toward the bathroom.

Melia nods, "I think I'll head out and catch you there. It's the best way to be sure of what team assignments are. Thank you again, and I don't know in this universe we live in I'm not sure if being a super hero would be weird any more." She says with a melancholic laugh. She gives a small sad smile, "I better be off, thank you so much." She says as she slips out the door keeping Toby from escaping.

Tripp quickly found his room, the light with his name on it being a dead giveaway. He set his bag down in the chair, then went into the bathroom. He turned on the sink and splashed some water on his face. He knew that this was what he wanted, but some part of him had not really thought he would ever actually end up here. He had a feeling it would not be long until he was on the ground, cracking skulls. Who would he be afterwards? As he looked in the mirror, he thought this might be one of the last times he saw himself before he had changed. He turned off the faucet and dried off his face. Taking one last look in the mirror, he hit the lights and walked out of the bathroom. He had to head down to the Quartermaster.

She woke from her nap and read awhile longer. After awhile, she forced herself to put the book reader aside and got up to clean her quarters. She released the roomzoom to clean the floor while she dusted, emptied the litter, washed the feed bowl and water bowl and wiped down the desk and shelves etc. She cleaned the sani room and changed linens. Once all done, she took a quick shower and dressed in casual dress, t-shirt and pants in the medical wing colors.

She fed the kitty and played with him until he was tuckered out, then she fed him so he'd be ready to crash for awhile.

She worked a jigsaw puzzle awhile on her vid then grabbed a piece of cold pizza from her little frig and sat down to read again.

Later she might go running on the ag dec. But before, she decided to go to the rec dec to see what was going on, and to get a drink.

Jesse had brought her food and sat it down on the desk.  She sat there in a daze for a bit and looked around.  It definitely wasn't Spencer's office.  It was colder, quieter.  She lowered her head and said a silent prayer, took a sip of her tea and started in eating.

Once she was done, she'd take a nap, sleeping long periods of time just didn't seem important any more.  A one or two hour nap here and there kept her going.

Re: Non-com quarters

Garrat arrives with Lirg.  His quarters are sparse, his computer and a garret sized chair is set up so Garrat can continue to learn about this new place he has bumbled into.  If Lirg chooses to shower Garrat warns him.  Be careful about the auto dry feature.  The blower operates from below and personal parts tend to flop about uncomfortably."  He shakes his head. "Definitely designed by a female."

Before he showers himself Garra boots up some of the files he has put together on Earth human customs and sets it to translate into Lirgs language to give Lirg something to do while he is waiting. Then the make their way to the rec deck.

Will wait for a post in this thread before posting there.

Garrat laughs. "Most humans are little things.  It helps them get out of tight spots, find the weaknesses of their enemies and wiggle into the hearts of those who they choose as their friends.  However I think it was my size that helped your commander see that an alliance was best."  Garrat pauses.  He has a troubled look on his face. "Maybe my heart is getting soft in my old age, but it saddens me to see so many cultures diseased by selfishness in this part of the galaxy.  I'm glad you were able to join us, I just wish the rest of your people could have before it was too late."  Garrat opens the door to leave.  Will continue the conversation on Rec-Dec.====>

She came in and put away her leftover pizza then grabbed up her kitty and loved all over him, scratching his forehead and his chin and cheeks then putting him on the bed to play "chase the hand under the blanket". She laughed at his antics and his alert expression as he pounced and chased the critter under the blanket. He was so cute!

Once he tired out, she fed him fresh cat food then went to clean his litter box. By the time she finished those chores and swept the quarters and dusted, she was ready to shower and change clothes so she could rest awhile.

Once showered and dressed in sweat pants and a tshirt, she lay down to listen to music and to read a bit before sleeping, Toby curled up on her chest purring himself to sleep. His purring made her sleepy and she eventually put her reader down and drifted off to sleep.

Jesse had been deeply engrossed in a new novel when her COM chimed off.  She looked at the message and not knowing the exact details, but it was from Doc so it had to be of import.

Slipping on her shoes, she headed to the SEC office.  Putting her hair in a pony tail, she wasn't all to concerned with her looks.  She wasn't too important.
