Kira glanced over to the LC that was next to her, "Who you gonna torch LC?" not knowing who he was referring to she slowly sipped her drink.

Despite the loud music and the conversation going on around her, Harry was just close enough to where Captain Maris was to overhear his comment concerning Shade "Excuse me Melia love there's someone I need to kill" Harry spoke in a low voice before striding towards the good captain with a look in her pale blue eyes that by rights should have turned him into solid ice "You! Me! Outside now!" Harry snapped extending an arm out to point at Maris so that there was no doubt as to who she was talking about "I've put up with you bad mouthing everyone else because we're all big boys and girls but you do not get to pick on Shade! So you have one chance to deliver a grovelling apology or we're going out into the corridor so I can make you swallow your teeth!" Harry snarled, cracking her knuckles as she went. She was sick to death of people picking on Shade because he was different, it was time to show people there were consequences for going after the easy target.

Zob watched as Harry took off towards Captain Maris he went over to Shadow this shit needed to stop, "Shadow we need to teach this guy a lesson, hes picking on Shade" Zob explained to Shadow what was said.

 Shadow perked Up..he saw Shade dancing with Eckles... Chatty  Smith  joined the  dance with him as well.

 He loked over  and saw a  group ,slowly  forming around Maris.....Shade didn't hear... we'll see what happens... I promised   Lizzy i wouldn't cause a fuss..but  if he steps over  too many lines.. well..

Zob grudgingly nods as he turned his attention back to Melia, "Well... then you flag me down LC" he then returned to where Melia was Zob looked a tad bit frustrated.

Kira glanced over to the captain when Shadow mentioned it she just shook her head as she moved back over by Morgan, "Who the hell wears full dress to a birthday party?" she then took a sip of her drink as she playfully hip bumped him.

 Lizzy was dancing with Karl the song ended, and Lizzy smiled at Karl and then Harry spoke to her Dad, and challenged him. Lizzy only heard Shades name being involved.

 Lizzy got pissed, said to Karl,Take my 6 Captain I am going to end this bull shit right here and now. Lizzy would storm over to  her Father and say,ENOUGH! !!!!! That is my best Harry you berate her you berate me, what the fuck Dad why are you acting like this, why. You have to realize this is my family and friends now. I live the Hermes and ALL their crew. Now shut up or I will shut you up Captain SIR!!!!!

 Lizzy was pissed and her Dad knew it, she then said loudly,You have ruined my party and are being a complete asshole, now shut up or leave, it is MY party. You are 3 seconds away from getting slapped Captain Sir, so do you want to arrest me as well.

    Captain Maris stared  at Lizzy, there was a bit  of softness in his  eyes, but not   in his smile or   his  voice.

  ..Lizzy..Dear.. stand   down, you do not have the rank..in or out of  uniform. he waves  at the mass of  people in front of him,..More  proof  of what i have been saying...

for a few moments Nikki was in shock at the Captains attitude.  Others spoke up quickly, she then responded "Captain..." her voice was a tad strained "One thing you would gain is manners.  Not accepting an offer or atleast declining nicely you are out a dance and shown yourself to be rather rude" she looked at Lizzy "And I am a good dancer too....his loss" she started to move away and talk to others

Sarah glanced around, things were starting to heat up and not in a good way. "N-2 on a general staff is incharge of communications and information. Serving as the Burian fleet N-2 you'll be the most senior communications officer in the fleet answerable only to me. Unfortunately one of the guests seems to have finally butted enough heads that the Hermes people are likely going deal with the impolite pompous ass." She glances towards the altercation happening nearby as Lizzy finally intervened on her own behalf.

"Here shortly the board is going to retire to Admiral Hack's Quarters for discussions and to give the lower ranking individuals space to let loose and have fun. If you are interested in the position I'd like for you to accompany me, as N-2 you may find yourself attending many of these type of round tables and events." She was developing a few concerns about the young woman's ability to perform as a fleet level general staff officer, but the true test would be to see how she dealt with the perhaps less volatile environment in the Admiral's quarters.

Melia blushed a little when Harry, complimented her. "Oh thank you. It's one of Captain Si's dresses, and Lizzy helped me with the makeup. I think I over dressed though." She said a touch of concern in her voice. Granted she'd worn fairly plain flats, and Lizzy currently towered over her in the five inch heels, but to the eye from a distance that wasn't readily apparent.

"Some people have it together and some people are fully of it. Her father is the latter, he cares more about his own reputation and being not Hack or Shadow. He tries to back it up with protocol but its all a sham. Admiral Hack, Captain Si, General Bale, Rivets, Captain McKeon over there," she says with a nod in the general direction of each. "They all have it, there's nothing to prove for them, and they're each a different type of leader. From meeting folks from the Ironwood, McKeon is an absolute terror when it comes to details, and training, but her people would literally follow her to Hel and back even if she was the only one going there, because she'd put herself on the line before them. You've seen the others on the Hermes, doing much the same. Maris over there that's not him. He's here for the glory and none of the risk." She says probably talking too much. Harry would probably think her weird but it felt good to offer an opinion.

Orria had set up some games and was leading the other children in playing them both on the vidboard and with what had been procured for the party. She made sure to include everyone and that everyone got a turn.

When Zob approached and complimented her Melia blushed to the roots of her red hair, turning a shade closer to the coloration of Lizzy's red dress than anything else. "oh... thank you.... its from Captain Si's collection... It... uh.. you look nice in your.... duty uniform..." she stammers out a response her mind blanking on how to respond properly to a compliment.

After a while Orria began to get bored. She'd locked the vidboard on the games, and gotten a promise from one of the kids to make sure they gave it back to her, but the kids games were running along and she was interested in doing something else. She wanders towards the dance area, and sees Shade and Eckles dancing. She uses her comm to snap a quick photo of them and fumbles through sending it to Shadow.

It was about that point that the wheels started coming off. Maris made a comment about Shade and Harry was off. Melia had missed the comment, however and uncertainly held back as she unpacked the situation and what was happening. Zob had also headed over to Shadow, but then returned looking frustrated, "Lizzy's old man causing more fuss? She asked, she'd noted how Lizzy had fled to Karl, and not too Zob, the reasoning must be sound that they were dating to fire up Captain Maris. She considered bringing it up, but hardly knew what to say, and was growing more concerned about the event than other issues.

Orria drifted towards where Shade and Eckles had started waiting for them to finish dancing.

Hawkeye had done her level best to avoid the confrontation, it wasn't her battle to fight. She wasn't a brawler, or much of a shooter, but she what she could do is stay out of the way of those that were. She'd found her way on to the dance floor as was working her way through the various different people who wanted to dance, laughing and telling jokes. She kept half an eye on the goings on, but for the most part let the chips fall until she could do something.

 After the  pair of   Dances with Eckles and   Chatty Smith.. the ladies  got swept up By  some guys. And Shade  started to  head to the the Tables  when he spies  Orria  and waves to her.

 Maris  didn't seem to be the least  bothered by  the  people  chipping in...What this ship needs..  Is a real  leader, not  some one who plays  with this crew...

Nikki led Haley off to get her a piece of cake. She stopped a moment "Captain Maris..with all do respect....that leaves you out of the running.  Being in command means also having the respect of those you are in command of." she stated it matter of factly.

Haley looked at Captain Maris a moment then looked back at Nikki "He's not a nice man is he?" she said
"He might not be a nice man, but he is not a polite man, that's for sure"
"So...He's a butthead?"
"Yes" not caring if he heard, even though she wanted Haley to grow a filter...it wasn't going to happen "Lets get you some cake"

Zob looked over his uniform briefly yeah it wasn't the best possible choice for attire but it worked, "Yeah hes being a thorn in everyone's side if he gets his ass kicked well he had it coming" he said in response to her question about the captain.

He glanced over to the dance floor, "I'm sorry if i seem a bit forward but would you care to dance?"

Kira overheard the comment from Maris, 'Oh really so you think Hack is unfit for the position... will see what he has to say in regards to that' Kira excused herself for a moment from Morgan and found both Hack and Si on the dance floor, "I hate to intrude on your dance but the captain over there is challenging both of your authority implying you arent fit for command and i feel you shouldn't let it go unchecked sir" she wanted to make it known to both Hack and Si what was going on.

Orria immediately heads over to meet Shade at the tables. When she meets up with him she starts to tell him about the packet from Beth.

"Oh... ummm I guess..." She says suddenly nervous. "I don't usually dance. I'm probably no good at it but I'll try." She adds following Zob to the dance floor.

Zob chuckled awkwardly he wasn't very good at dancing either, "Neither do i but can't get better if you don't try" he said with a smile as he gently took her hand and began to move with the music.

Melia stiffened up at first, but eventually began to dance but internally she felt stiff and like her blood was rushing. She thought of it as little more than nerves, as she continued to dance.

She follows a bit awkwardly, trying to calm her nerves, and to move to the music.

Zob began to notice she was on edge a bit, "Are you alright Melia?" Zob asked as they danced slowly ready to stop if it was becoming to much for her.

"oh uh, yeah. Sorry" she says accidentally stepping on his foot, catching the faintest wiff of the cigars Zob smoked, acidic with sweet hints. He had a unique, scent, like a faint foreign spices... Catching herself she pushes the thoughts aside, her face feeling flushed, "I just don't get close to people all that often, being this close of proximity to anyone is an unfamiliar experience." She explains.

Changing tracks a little, "It seems everyone knows, so I'll just go ahead and apologize now for getting emotional and jealous earlier... when you and Lizzy played the prank on her dad... I hope you didn't think I was upset, I'm still struggling to understand my emotions and what they mean, and I hope I didn't hurt your feelings at all." She explains likely completely missing all the correct cues.

Roy grinned a feral smile.  "You really sure you want to stand on that rank point, Captain?" he said, with a dangerous edge in his voice.  "Last time I checked, an ambassador has effective rank over a captain...not to mention the notion of attempted incitement of mutiny by implying the Admiral isn't fit for command."  His voice had an icy edge to it as he gestured for Harry to back down.

"On top of that, Ambassador Shade is a war hero in his own right.  He killed more enemy troops, on his own, in the battle of Aqra than you have in the entirety of your pathetic excuse for a military career, Captain.  I've dealt with stuffed-shirts like you before...shared the battlefield with hundreds of Marines who died because some dumb-assed desk jockey that that having more brass on his collar meant he was a better officer, and I'm not about to let some has-been dip-shit flight instructor put down the men who are winning this war.  You want to see respect, Captain?  You can go make your apologies RIGHT NOW, or I'll give you a lesson in what true respect--EARNED respect--really commands.  Fuji might need a new flight instructor for a few weeks, but based on the general performance levels of the Fuji recruits we've been getting, it shouldn't be hard to find someone on par with your instructional level."  His voice wasn't raised...but it resonated in his chest into an almost inhuman growl...and the look in his made it clear, if there was any doubt...he wasn't bluffing.

 Lizzy listened and just looked at her Father, she looked at him like he was dead, and said." You don't have to wait go back to Fuji I am not going with you. This is my home now these amazing people are my Family . Excuse me I have all the rank I need I am your Daughter, and Sir you are an asshole."

 Lizzy was tired of this shit and then she added," Go please, leave the party before I do slap you Sir, the person who was my Father is dead to me now leave."

 Lizzy would look at Roy and say," Sargent Major please remove this man from MY Party." Lizzy began to cry and turned and went to Karl.

 Sam smiled and said," Yes Ma'am I can do that, I would definitely like to be your N2 Ma'am. Yes Ma'am looks like it is getting very testie at the least. I am sorry Ma'am I am not good in large crowds small group I am great Ma'am."

 Sam will listen and then after Sarah talks about going to the Admiral's quarters soon she seemed very happy and replied, " Of course Ma'am I was in a lot of high level meetings in my day, it will be my honor to accompany you as your N2 Ma'am." Sam seemed more in control when she was told they would be leaving.
