Orria smiles, "okay," and sets to work reading the chapter at first quickly before remembering she there is a test and slowing down.

Melia arrives, a little late. It's a bit out of character for her but not abnormal for parents to be late given the various duties and responsibilities that pop up on a warship that might not be a factor elsewhere. "Sorry I'm late, how's she doing?" Melia asks the teacher.

  The Teacher  smiled  a bit,..is is remarkable, in the areas  she concentrates in.. the others.. she is about  average.. we have a  deal in place that she  may move onto other studies, once we get the core...the base..under her , I think that  will opem her  eyes  as the  things  she has no interest in..comes  back to  enhance  those she is good at?

Melia nodded, "are there any areas she's particularly struggling in? I currently working with Dr. Christie to provide her with some private tutor time to offset the missed classes due to her other responsibilities, as I'll admit I barely passed highschool. He's as you are aware very well versed in the humanities and life sciences, but if there's anywhere she needs specific help I'd like be able to pass that along as well."

In the background Orria read away, when she didn't recognize a word she turned to the back of the book to the key words section and find it and work through it.

  The teacher   shrugged,..she  just got here, so it s   hard to tell. But she may have problems  with History  and  such.. she  seesm to be  centered on the the here  and now.... her MAtch  is  good, but i thinki she  figures  out a way to get the answers  with out going through the  steps?...And? Let's   face it?...Out  here..right now?, that's the main thing? If her Math skill can  catch up to her concept thinking?.. she  could be  a prodigy  with a Vidboard.

I'll pass that along to Dr. Christie, I'll see if he can focus on math and history for now.  Perhaps he can also help her to understand how each of the subjects connect to her interests and how knowing them makes her better at her favorite subjects.  Maybe if we're lucky she'll develop at least enough motivation to complete her assignments in the areas she's less excited about, without having to be coerced.

She asks. Orria looks up from her reading and nods, "I'm reading chapter three so I can take my test tomorrow and do more fun stuff on the vidboards." Orria explains.

Melia smiles at her daughter, that's very good, sweetie. let's head home, and you can finish reading there. We still need to feed and walk Cookie, I bet he's feeling pretty lonely right now.

They had just reached the house when Melia saw the comm text. "Hey honey, reading is going to need to wait for a bit. We need to go see Captain McCloud off from the Scots."

Orria looked a bit confused, "Where is he going? She asked. Melia avoided the inevitable why question, "Well Captain McCloud has been sick for a while so he's probably going to a hospital ship to get better." After collecting Cookie the Lonnox, and pausing for a bathroom break (for the Lonnox) They made their way to the Hanger Deck as well.

Haley and Nikki arrived and found a few kids waiting for the school to open up.  Maybe 6-7 kids at the moment just sat their bags by the door and played on the playground til it would.  No adults but Nikki did see Toni jogging up.  She waved at her and as she got closer she commed Toni 5 extra creds just for watching her before and after school.  The ping on Tonis end was met with a thumbs up from her.  Nikki then hurried to the tunnels, not wanting to be late

<<<The Following Morning>>>

Melia rose early, as usual, about the same time as Shadow did to prep for the pilots training, and set to work on her morning routine. Cookie and Orria slept soundly in their room, a fight that Melia had relented on after much struggle, she sat down at the table and cleaned her weapons, a daily ritual that didnt take long typically a quick disassembly wipe down and oiling the moving parts and pieces to prevent jams and misfires.

Once complete and everything ready to go for the day she turns on a meditative tai'chi video working on controlled movement and breathing. The video and routine are short ending with her sitting in a seated mediation position. The vidboard transitions to just soft instrumental music as Melia focuses on herself and trying to find internal balance.

After about an hour she rises and stretches and sits down to do more research about PTSD. Given her options were to go to a medical ship or to find help on her own she searches for resources. It really was a shame Cookie, the medtech, had been so busy with her own stuff recently so until she had some free time it was up to Melia. Finding many that look a bit confusing Melia decides to start with a few textbooks that outline and detail the causes and symptoms of PTSD and introduced the treatment methods.

Her reading time is short lived, as Orria and Cookie stirred.

Orria rose groggily snuggled up with Cookie. She padded out of bed and out into the kitchen. Once there she was greeted by Melia with a peck on the head and a good morning. Into her hands was placed a plastic bag and she was sent get Cookie and take the Lonnox out for its morning walk and bathroom.

Once the morning rituals were complete Orria gathered her school supplies and Melia walked her over to the school house. Orria quickly shuffled to her seat ready to take her reading test anxious to move on in the programming and languages curriculum.

Mortica was up early the next morning preparing breakfast for Roll as well as lunch for him to bring to school. She was dressed for work as she would be reporting to the SEC office for her assignment after taking Roll to school. Once she had him up, cleaned and dressed she sat with him as he ate breakfast, Gregor crunching on a steak next to her.

“Are you excited for your first day, my love? Viktor wanted to go but he had to go to work early.”

As soon as breakfast was done she gathered up the papers for school, put Gregor across her shoulders and walked her son to school.

Once Orria had been dropped off Melia decides to head off to the field gym. It'd been a while since she practiced general combatives and martial arts that didn't end up with her berserk brawling. Perhaps reinstating discipline could help.

Thinking these thoughts she leaves the civie section.

Orria sat impatiently in her seat. She was anxious to show teacher that she'd mastered chapter 3 and was ready to move on with the new programming and language modules. She looked around the classroom at the other kids. As she waited for the day to begin.

Haley waved and smiled as the others joined in the yard.

  The  Tests  of  Orria  started  along  with one  other boy about her  age.  They  took the Test  and the Teacher-Helper collected  thier tests  to check, while they    were  'added to' the  current  class' on the History of the Hemres'..with the class  centered  around   The Building of the Hermes.and  once they were  up to speed, they would   go back to the  arrival of the  Angels... By the  time they graduated ..they would be in greek and roman times on eareth..but a lot of that was being phased out  as they were learning  more about APF  races and planets.

 Roll  came  in  looking a  bit unsure, but he was  lead to his  cubby for hos lunch and  such, then shown his  desk in the main room.

 He    , Haley and two other  kids had  Color sheets.. ..the sheets  were  Maps  of  the   Quads, with the Sol system in the Center..  each  Quad  was numbered by color   for the kids  to  color in and learn the names.

Orria seemed bored by the history, the stories were fun enough. She didn't really understand what knowing the dates and what happened mattered all that much, but she tried despite herself. She knew the possibility of moving up on the stuff she liked hung in the balance.

"Yewl like it here Roll...It's fun.  we even get a time to go play outside in the play ground" his little desk was right next to hers.

 Roll looked   around, he saw a couple Stem  kids in  Differant  'grade' sections..they would Move  off  to  smaller  rooms  where they would  study 'hgigher' grade  stuff.

 I don't  know?.. I guess....I never  been to so,methign like this... normally when  people put us all together.. we get  shipped off  somewhere..

"No..this ain't a bad place.  here like on Earth they teach us things.  like how ta read, math, draw,  how to do stuff.  but some is for older kids so they group us together so those like us in Kindergarten get to start out and older kids get taught other things, so when we get growd up we wind up smart like your momma and dad, Nikki, and Mr. Shadow and others. " she smiled a bit.  "And we get to learn with other kids...which will make it fun"

  he looked at the Crayons... the Nubbers   were   ok  for him..he had to learn numbers to count people for the  bosses...

 ..I never had   cra..crayons?... we had  chalk to mark  cars with..or the street?... I never  colored  stuff?.. will they hurt me if  i do ti wrong?

"Nope.  Teacher might come over and say something like 'blue sky goes to meet the green grass.  But if you tell her you've have only seen brown or grey ground,  she'll understand.  and some times wwe get black and white pictures to color too.  I'm not too good, but the object is to color an area inbetween lines with the color you want.  Like it you want a picture of a red shirt with a blue pocket, the trick is to color just the pocket in blue and not outside the black lines where the pocket is the the rest in red.  oh kinda like this" she reached into her desk and pulled out part of her coloring book.  in it was black and white pages with the lines looking like the beings on Captain Lightning, including several with the hamster.  one had the hamster sitting on a chair.  Haley colored the hamster brown and yellow and the shirt he had on blue, then the box was green.  it was not totally within the lines in all place but was enough to show Roll the idea.  "Sam put him inna purple shirt.  and teacher said it was okay."

 Roll watched  the crayons  put the colors  down..he  was  in awe...

 ..those  are like magic... its  even better then using  a color bar on a vid board!

"And you can mix and match'em to get other colors too" she said.  Soon though the teacher chided them for talking.  Haley explained she was telling him about crayons.

  the    backup teacher  came over    and checked on Roll.. she  wacthed  as HAley  helped  tell Roll about things  most of the kids  knew  about long ago.

  he was  using  Blue  to  color  a melon in a  picture.. the point broke...

 his eyes got  wide  and he looked around  ,..will i get  punsihed  for this!

"Nope.  Worst is tell you not to press so hard." she showed him her box that was new only a few days ago and about a third were cracked, snapped at some point and one had the wrapper totally gone "And if you need one of my colors you can borrow it" she smiled at him. Her picture was of some pretty Nivarian flower.

  he picked up the  broke tip   and  put it in the pencil holder on the desk.. then  tried  to  finish his  mellon in the picture   with the  thicker    crayon.

  ..that's a Nice  picture... soemtime s we  saw  flolower  when we   would go out in the   lowers.. some  places had them growing..... The  girls got more money  when the begged  by flowers...

After getting a shower and cleaning up, Viktor got dressed in his new APF uniform brushing out his hair. Pulling out a cooler, he put water, soda, and a juice box in it with ice, put a few dry snacks in a backpack and headed out with his duty vidboard. Walking across the civilian section he found a bench-table across the avenue from the school and sat down. Opening my up the newsfeed he read and sipped in water as he enjoyed the day waiting for school to let out. Occasionally he lifted his head to scan the area to make sure he didn’t miss Roll coming out.

  The    Kid s ha d  lunch, and   were given  20 minutes of play  time on the playground.. soccer balls and Footballs for the most   part,  other  kids  climbed  and  such.

  2 hours  or so  later  the  horn Blared in the Civie section , to let  folks known school was out.

 Kid  School.kids came  flying out of the , Orria  held a Vid  Disc   labels..'Occui language arts  II "

 Rolls  walked out   with  HAley , cluching his back  pack  and lookign around...that wasn't so bad.. I didn't see one kid get hit!
  he smiled.

  some older Kids  ran off to the TRec Dec, with   parent s working , they would grab 'supper' on thier own..Other  sat and  waited...

 Fosters Wife held a wee one, as she took the Hand of her older son and they walked Home.
