Re: Officer's  Quarters

Kray and   KArl stepped Off the elevator, they walked   past some of the other Officer's apartments..brass name Tags on most of them..some still empty.  they came to  one that had  an Index card tapped on it,And there you are....Your stuff should be inside the door...My apratments  are way at the end of the Corridor.

You need anything , either  COM  one of us...or  Ask Lilly or Beth to route your call..Rec Dec  has a Number  by the apartment  COM, if you want to order food up...As far as your ride goes?..Rivets doesn't mind Pilots  fussing  around thier machines...Just becareful how your treat the ground folks..I have seen Rivets Deck a pilot  for  yelling too loud and too long, because he didn'[t think the  crew was doing its job... If  Rivets and his people can't get your bird off the ground..then your bird , flat , doesn't work anymore...  he grins a bit.

Re: Officer's  Quarters

Karl grinned.  "Well, now, that's just good common sense, to not piss off the ground crew.  Making someone resent you isn't exactly a recipe for enthusiastic work on your behalf."

He took a deep breath and let out a long sigh, the first break in a front of calm collectedness that he'd maintained since he got on board.  "Thanks, LC...this is my first off-world assignment, aside from some back-up stuff out on Mars, and we never really saw action on that one.  It's going to take a little getting used to.  At least I don't feel like I'm fighting for acceptance, and that was one of my biggest concerns."

The moment of vulnerability lasted another fleeting moment on his face, and then he had the front back up.  "Guess I'll be seeing you around the ship, then..."

Re: Officer's  Quarters

Karl nodded with a grim smile, in response, and as Shadow walked to his quarters, Karl let himself into his own.  His gear was there, the bags sitting on the floor at the foot of the bed.  He turned on the video feed, flipping through the options till he found something appropriately mindless to use for background noise, and began the ritual of unpacking and organizing his gear, slowly changing the space from an empty compartment with his gear in it into HIS compartment...pictures on night stands, or hanging next to mirrors where he could see them, his uniforms and off-duty attire in the closet, knick-knacks and personal memorabilia on the shelves.

When he finally felt like the space was his, he lay down on the bed, listening to the audio track with some back corner of his mind as he let the rest of his consciousness drift.  It didn't take long before he was sleeping soundly.

Re: Officer's  Quarters

-->> from the Rec Dec 2

Pushing the cabin door open Justin stood looking about its interior, noting the way the room was laid out, the design and efficient use of available space. Closing the door securely he took a refreshing shower and dressed in standard night attire; then sat on his bunk scanning the hand held reading the notices and messages, texting responses until he drifted off.

Re: Officer's  Quarters

Roused from a refreshing sleep Justin headed to the gymnasium for a three hour pre breakfast workout and training. He was grateful that the Kerger had been transferred out and no longer had to contend with that threat. The deck was relatively quiet; passing the notice board he scanned its contents, spotted one that looked interesting and registered for it.

After the workout he showered changed and headed to the Rec Deck for breakfast.

Re: Officer's  Quarters

Justin perched on the side of his bunk scanning test archives; randomly pausing at different locations watching for a short time then moving to another location. Reference Gamma 312 displayed on the screen and he tapped the play button.
Pushing the kite’s rudder hard as he tugged the yoke the small craft quickly deflected left, rolling as it did. Touching the thrusters accelerated the prototype on a spiralling loop. Twenty seconds later he reached the outer marker, where he started the monitoring process that would record all aspects of the trial and provide substantive data for analysis. Who knows it may even give the Geneticists an insight into the origins of their species Justin though. Within seconds the ship was running silent. With the exception of a small blue light, that illuminated its control panel, the Vice passed without detection through the outer rim of the system.

In reply to Kray Shadow (msg # 10):

Justin glances at the entry viewpane and near jumps form his chair at the unexpectedness of his visitor. A myriad of possibilities flash through his mind as to what would bring the WC to his billet. Shaking off these thoughts he springing up and punches the doors entry button, with a swish it slides open, as he snaps to attention; smartly saluting WC Shadow.

Justin nods acknowledging both the request and statement. Crouching in front of the bar fridge; pulls out a couple of cold sodas, gets a tall glass from the sideboard and pores the contents from the cans into it. Care for any Ice with your soda he asks as he considers the situation. Not sure myself but based on Hermes losses it’d be considerable.

He reaches inside his  Jacket and Pulls out a box,..These were Stevens'...we sent the ones he was wearing, out into the Black with him...

..sometime, before  we head back out. Morris and  I will be  shuffling around the  Flights....You'er Gonna be a flight leader...

In reply to Kray Shadow (msg # 16):

Justin’s jaw dropped, He’d heard how quickly promotions came to skilled pilots in times of war and here was the proof. From Sub Lieutenant to Lieutenant, he was about to ask if the WC was certain he was doing the right thing but thought better of it, after all it wouldn’t be appropriate to doubt Hacks and Shadow’s judgements especially since so much is riding on it...He sat looking from Kray to the paper to the Lieutenant’s bars. Gingerly he reached out taking the box then mentally chastised himself... Pull it together Kase least the WC rethink the whole thing. Giving Kray a half smile Thank you WC.

In reply to Kray Shadow (msg # 18):

Justin took Kray's hand giving it a vigorous shake, then watches after him heading down the passage towards the elevator. Turning to face the Spartan room he crosses the short distance from the entry to the seat plops into taking a moment to consider the events, the coming Celebration at Foini and the immediate future. He had an inkling the WC had more on his mind which raised a myriad of possibilities... most of which were not good for whatever Aliens bent on the subjugation of Humanity.

Re: Officer's  Quarters

Standing quietly for a moment he considered the Lieutenants bars. Raised them and whispered Don't Wait Go on ahead. In honour of the Stevens, deftly fixing them to his uniform he hoped he'd be half as good a pilot as the Ace. There was time to consider this later. Now he'd get what rest he could before the Event on Foini.

-->> from Events

Back on board the Hermes Justin headed to his cabin, grateful to be back aboard. Slipping onto his chair he powered up his work desk enjoying a few sips of hot cocoa while it ran through the familiar start-up processes.  When it came online he opened up several links and quickly completed the necessary administrative tasks, then showered and hit the sack.
After a welcome rest Justin checked the Hermes Standing Orders for anything operational he’d need to know then accessed the Operations Database to check out the Fighter Squadrons restructure; sending each of F flight’s pilots an invitation to meet in the Flights bay, for an intro and familiarisation gathering.  Accessing the respective Pilots files he scanned their particulars so he’d get a feel for their abilities.

Re: Officer's  Quarters

Justin reviewed some of the footage that was being broadcast by the Angles. He grimaced when they showed the vids of the shootout at their Defence Offices. This carried an doubts about this whole mess, these Angles are apparently as corrupt as the EDT or their long association with the Occupation forces Demons has produced a considerable number of Helsinkin syndrome subjects.

In reply to JT (msg # 25):
Justin grimaced at the reply still it was better than nothing. After securing a flight time, he submitted the required forms and sent a heads-up to C Flight  informing them of the training flight where he'd meet them in the Hangar Deck for a pre-exercise brief. He then started the into the routine administrative duties. Several hours later he hit the sack. Awaking eight hours later he quickly showered changed in sufficient to head to the Rec Dec for a meal before the Flights Exercise.
