Karl adjusted his course, angling slightly toward the newly visible cone.  "Okay, here's the scoop.  That cone that's just showing up, just starboard of dead ahead?  The admiral wants everything around it obliterated...total scorched earth.  The good part for us?  The EVOLs apparently helped build it, and are a significant portion of the personnel manning the facilities.  Here's our chance to grab them by the nose and kick them in the ass, as the saying goes.  I'm not sure who else is down there."

 He paused for a moment as he checked his weapons displays.  "I need a different approach vector to bring my big guns to bear.  If you can take a couple of passes, weapons-hot, and see if there's anything Demon-specific, we can try out these new bombs Fuji sent with us.  Once I'm on orbit over the site, I can start shelling buildings and you can take care of vehicles.  If you notice an anti-air fire, sing out and we'll burn it out.  Good?"

  The  Two assault craft were  parked  45 degrees to the Mountain, their , new, forward firing Cannon pointed towards the Hill. the starboard  Gunner could see the edge  as well as the Bubble Gunners..the portside  Gunners had to be content  with watching the area to that side, which...is supposed to be friendly.

 Az-el was starting to Lead her squad towards their smoke, when Slick fired off his  weapon, all the Angel Elite  turned to look at him, Az-el looked at the glass cockpit with her  arms out  and an angry Tilt of her head.

 about that time , Spencer's  rifle  barked  the single shot.


 Below  the Troops that were coming towards the Hillside, looked up when the Pulse  gun  went off, they redoubled their efforts  to  reach the hillside, weapons   ready and  pointing  around...the Largran Mech  spread out  their  GUn arms raised as they looked for Targets, form their point of view, they could not see the  shuttles  yet ( nor could anyone in the shuttle see them...yet)

 The round   hissed down Range,  slamming into the  Mech's Right Tigh , the  Explosion Blew the right leg loose And the beats Fell forward to hit into the  hillside...its arms  trying  to Move in a way to help 'roll itself over, the rider was trapped inside while being 'facefirst' in the ground.

 The reward for this was a Hail of hard ammo  flying up towards the hillside, tufts of grass and a few saplings  were cut  down as the LArgans searched  for  the  shots that were fired...

  The area was still quiet, as the  two aircraft came into View. To the  East side of the area was a  landing strip, two shuttles were there, both had  ramps  down as  crates were being Load in. Two Red LArgran fighters were on the airstrip slightly ahead of them. Lizard pilots were talking to each other  while  Humans loaded the shuttles.

..there was a lot of  traffic  By the cone shaped building, a few hundred  troops  were being massed,  and a line of APVs stood waiting...one  block for troops were clearly  Human.

 The first torpedo plane  broke off with  one of  the Hammer IVs as escort... They  pointed their  Noses  down to make a run at the Demon  HQ building.

  Below...sirens  were going off, dozens of   demons, largrans and  Humans were running for  the line of fighters  resting on the  tarmac.

 The other  Torpedo craft  veered to the starboard  and centered on  the  4 large, flat Buildings..it wasn't  too hard to tell who they Belonged to the Two EVOL barracks had   EVOL flags fluttering   above them, while the Demon and LArgrans had their own

 a Hammer Va escorted  the torpedo plane towards those barracks...The other  Torpedo planes Hung back, Hunger their  fuselage they carried  two 500 lb HE bombs, they would make their  run when the PAveway carriers were past.

  Justin's  Fighter  and the other Dart screamed   downwards  as they veered off to the  landing strip...Guns  blazing, plumes of dirt rose int he air, until they reached the line of  fighters, One their  first pass, some 8 or 9 pilots  didn't make it to the aircraft, and  6 of the aircraft were either  Burning   or had blown up.

  AA Guns   have come alive  now,  Heavy pulse rounds rose from the  sites, aaand Balck clouds appeared  as  Largran HArd ammo went off, shaking the figthers..Justin and his  wing ,Lt Mix, could  hear  and feel bits of shrapnel hitting thie  aircraft, but no damage as of yet...

those   on the hill, and  those in the trees could hear  the Chant of  ESN...ESN...ESN..slowing drifting  up from the plains. the squeals of tank treads, the  howl of LArgan and demon a like...there problem was, 2/3 of the enemy force was meet 100% of the ESN force...1/2 of the rest charged the Mountain...the other  half was retreating to the treeline they came out of..It seemed the  Demons  did not suspect a full scale 'invasion', but thought  that air cover and perhaps  some troops around  the Greenangel's bases...


MAss  met mass as the red wave and Blue   wave  hit each other... The M3  Stuarts. never slowed  down..their commanders firing  their   30 cal MGs on the top, until they got 20 yards away, then they dropped down and Buttoned up.. The  30MM main gun fired into the massed demons and the waist MG  fired away  swings  left and right  as fire as the weapon allowed.. the tanks    crashed into the massed  Troops  Crushing some , grinding  body parts of or  other... One Unlucky M3 hit  a body of Demons, they Slowed a bit as the tougher Bodies and armor   caused them to rise a bit in the air, One demon fired  an  Antiarmor  shoulder fired weapon and hit the  Me3 under the belly, the Tank went up, taking a few more demons with it as it did.

 demons wounded by the  shrapnel would be as good as dead, as well..

 the troops  fired all manner of weapons, from both sides From the Bottom of the Mountain, the smaller Green Burians charged out archers  firing   Clouds of arrows  as  the rest charged the Much bigger, taller largans and demons..Most had   rifles..a mix and match of whatever they could find, ESN  standard.45 cal pistols, and  of course,  the Burain standard Blades...Ugly looking weapons, their steel stained green, a forked  point  a=]on a  straight double  edged  blade..one  edge was smooth, the other  jagged , like  a saw, the Burains  would  whip these  about  Cutting   limbs off, breaking  weapons and   Pinning   enemy wrists in the fork...for thier  small size..there was nothing given up, in the  way of pure savage  hate...these little folks  were fighting  for their Homes..

 Some of the Panzer tanks were reaching the  battle now, their  Big  gun and waits MG talking a toll on those in Red Uniforms...Unlike the Lighter M3s..when they rolled over   the enemy, they were crushed...

 out of the treeline to the West, came the Demon's  armor,  large  rectangular Boxed  shapes with twin cannons  mounted in the turret...these where  'destroyer class' heavy Pulse  Gun, in the chest of the tanks were two Heavy Pulse  'mgs'...they Fired the  Pusle weapons  as they rolled on 6 huge  wheels, each wheel  had suspensions that kept the tanks  relatively stable..

  Behind the    attacking   ESN troops  the Pulse rounds  came  down Flashing and  taking   out  dozens of   troops , either wounded , or dead..

   As   Jonny Blu was turned back towards  the  Battle his eyes  grew wide, and  sweat broke out under his flight suit. He had never  seen anything like this...cutting out a few strays from a battle..and  on earth  taking out helicopters and old  time 'tomcats' and gunships.

 This was a real war... Fighters  from  both sides  flew, veered  roled  and cut, streaks of  weapons crisscrossed the air like a fishnet.

 below them other fighters were diving down on  troops, and ...to him...the plain looked like some bubbling stew, with bursts of fired,  and roiling bodies , and  blobs that were tanks... with a  vengeful Shadow on his tail, he had to go through that Mess, if he could get to the other side.....

  his thoughts  shattered  as a  cannon round hit his  left wing, the new..heavier Hammer shuttered a bit as he  regained  control and  pushed the throttle   to full...

 Shadow's eyes  darted  about  as he saw  the Cannon round hit the wing, He grinned  ...you'er not going to make it Jonny.....this is it...the last day of your life....


  Kat  circled  around  and saw Shadow turning Blu back towards the Fight...Shadow didn't se the  Largran coing up from  his blind spot...behind and below...but...the Largran, didn't see Kat!

  Si saw the  armor break throught eh tree line to the west, she  called out, Foster? Take half or the   fighters and  slow down those  demon tanks..the rest stay  with me to harrass the   ground troops..

 He-La and her green flight  satyed with Si...if anyone could see their faces, they  Green angels were grinning ear to ear as they  dove  down , wheeled about, and Dove again, getting satisfaction in chewing up  those who have attacked their planet!

 frans  and her part of the fighters were in a mixmaster This could go down as  the Biggest air battle of the war so far,  some 44   Hermes  aircraft in the  flight, and some 80-90  Demon forces aircraft, all Milling about...( not even counting  Kase and his  flight and Karl and bo!)

 It would be hard to tell , over the main battle area, who shot who down, the Gun cameras would answer that..... A demon and a LArgran crashed into each toher..no one  would get the credit for them...but it was sure fun to watch!

 Lt Wright flew his red HAmmer, the over weight fellow  was sweating, but of all the 4 'aces' that were on Wess's ship, he was the only one who was not scared...His    twin Cannons on the 'new' hammers   took out En Bon Liva..she never  even knew he was there.. He didn't even smile...Killing angels? Occui..Sanri..even their 'allies" LArgans, demons, those filthy bugs, even the damn Mulls..any alien..would be fun to toast..but  shooting down an earthling?..that did not suit him very well..at all..

Karl banked his plane into a wide sweep that would bring his port side to bear against the building complex.  As he did so, he commed Bo.

"Target One is those fighters on the runway.  Light them up before they can get off the ground and our lives will stay mych simpler for the next few minutes.  I'll be lined up to dish out some heavy punishment momentarily, but not fast enough to guarantee they won't make it in the air."

The shuttles?  If those survived Bo's run, Karl had plenty of options for them.  "Ed, load up HE on the main gun, and plot me a firing pattern along this line..."  He traced a line along the runway.  After his first pass, nothing without VTOL capabilities would be getting in or out via that airstrip.

"Make sure these two are eliminated in the sequence."

The display flashed, target indicators popping up along the runway, including likely ammo stores and fuel containers, showing points of impact and estimated ranges of damage.  "Ready to commence firing in ten seconds, Captain," the AI replied.

In reply to Shuttles (msg # 31):

Ajax Com to Slick:  "Hey Slick? you should find some cover buddy. Keep your canopy low and an eye on our guys ... stay guarding them and I will holler when I need you?"

Ajax Com to Hunter: "Sgt Hunter? I'm seeking a spot to return fire on the Largran Mechs. Advise you to get moving and Liberty will catch up."

Ajax got Liberty moving, searching for the "perfect" spot to return fire on the Largran Mechs. Liberty's .60 cal did not have quite the accuracy of Spencer's rifle, but he could throw down a steady stream of very heavy ammo.

He got a glimpse of a Largran Mech at a spot a bit higher up in the trees along the nearby hill ridgeline, then took partial cover behind a large tree trunk. He minimized Liberty's profile to the enemy and found a stable firing position.

The minigun cover sleeve retracted from the barrels as Ajax took careful aim with the weapons "scope".
His heads-up display measured the distance to the target and Ajax compensated for the indicated windage and bullet drop...

When he was satisfied he pulled the trigger for a one-third of a second, 20-round burst...

Raja checked the heavy flamethrower pack on his back, and that his other weapons were ready to draw, and moved out.

He was watchful of any enemy activity, and opened his helmet visor to keep his keen scenting ability available.
His long tounge tasted the air frequently...

Terra took his position in the formation bringing his rifle up and scanning the area. The adrenaline had begun to course through his veins and Terra was ready to react to any threat he saw. While holding his rifle up with one hand Terra brought his hood up over his head and his mask over his mouth with the other.

"I expected some kinda welcome wagon if I'm honest. It's like they don't even care that we're here."

   Garrat prowls forward, he fires  few single rounds at targets to gat the feel of the new weapon, live If he can find them, otherwise stationary targets will do.  He switches to three shot, practices a few shots then switches to fully auto.

Jesse nods to Hunter and looks to the tall burley Garrat.

Let's clean house big man, she said.  She lifted out her angel blade that Zob had given her and her Katana in the other hand.  (If feasible, if not then just the angel blade.  Think Dual weapon.) 

She quickly steps, with Garrats longer strides, to match his own and watches things from the side and front.  They had a bit of a disadvantage not having places to hide.  She sought out those places that if she needed to run to duck and cover she could.

Let's keep a steady movement.  Keep your eyes open for places to duck and cover if needed, folks.

About 100 yards into the passage, you should see a checkpoint set up by my people..they will point  you the way from there...Good Luck..

 another Angel opens a Camo flap for the Unit to enter..AZ-el and he  troops  enter  first. The Hole is  roughly  8 foothigh and  4 foot wide.

 Ajax's  .60 fires The second Mech  and taken some steps to 'climb the Hillside' as best a Mech could, The LArgran could be seen in his  cockpit moving his arms and Legs  trying to get the thing  up the  Hill while. He didn't Look Up until the  first few rounds of the MiniGun slammed into the Glass, it  cracked  and spread across the  larGran, it   pressed a button and Blow the Glass off, so it  could see.

  The  Largan Troops redoubled their efforts to climb the hill, moving  fast and sure..

 Lyri shouted..SUPE!!!

 Supe took a few Steps to the   hillside  and saw the first4  Lizards' heads  and  shots a Gout of  flame from flamethrower Gun... Shrieks of  surprise, pain and fear came from the Creatures as they   fell and rolled  down Hill  the flames  not  letting go of them.

 Morgan Looked at Kira   then said,on all COMsMECHs!... we have to protect the shuttles, and let the UNits get to thier assignments....form up!...as far as they know..we only have one Mech!

  His    Launcher  was primed, and his  gatling cannon ready to go as he  steps  up near the RAmp of Stoly 1, to allow the  starboard side  gunner a field  of fire.

 Switching, (and locking in the freq) to Morgan, "Copy that Chief, holding".

 Slick moves to the right of where the troopers are staging and getting ready to move out, he crouches the Mech, but keeps a steady vigil out towards the enemies positions, weapon primed and ready.
  Whenever he gets a second, he changes the frequency and locks in another one for....
Each Mech individualy, All mechs channel, Valkyrie cockpit channel, Naomi, Garrat, Sgt Hunter and Sniper Boon. All the while making sure his visual of the area is his priority.

 from below, the    one Mech that had not been shot at  yet sent up a LArgran version of a Flare..a very bright, white  Light.

  More troops  started to move  towards the Hillside , now  that  the  enemy knew they were there..

   about  50 yards  behind the shuttles  a troop of  60 ESN Marined  lead  by a fellow who wore  Light  armor  , but  had a 1800's Calvary Hat on, he  held  a  Largran Machine pistol in his  right hand, and  branished a Sabre witht eh Other...


 they ran , double time  towards the Extra  troops headed to the Hillside, the   Captain called Out...

 THREE RANKS...EACH RAMK, FIRE ONE  MAG..CROSSFIRING AS ABLE...THEN STEP BACK..UNDERSTOOD?

 the   Largrans  with a few demons turned towards  them firing pulse  weapons and  hard  ammo, One trooper went down.

 FIRST RANK...FIRE!

 the first  rank  fired  full auto, most of their  weapons were thompsons, with a BAR carbine or two thrown in.

SECOND RANK!

 there were less enemies firing, and a bit further away, still another  trooper went down...

 FIRE!

again the hail of hard Ammon hit into the   packed  foes..

 there were Even less now, and they were backing up..still...another ESN trooper  fell...

 The Captain   waved his  sword....FLAMETHOWERS!

 2  men came  circling around each flank and  sent  writhing tails of  the  sticky fire onto the   enemy .FIRE AS YOU WISH!

 the  Troops began to Open fire on the  screaming  enemy, some of them turned to run...

 on the far side of the Mechs, a good 20 more  largans  were  charging to the Hillside...

As the largran mech rider blew his canopy, Ajax almost pitied the poor scaly fellow as he maintained his gunner lock-on and poured another burst of .60 into the cockpit.

When that mech was finished ...he searched the area for the third Largran mech or another target.

If he needed to move to get another good shot he did, but he stopped where he could put another tree in front of Liberty for cover.

   Kira Looked at Morgan..Morgan shook his head 'no'we are not here to draw fire....we are not here to die...we are here to keep  our people from dying..and we are here to make the others  die...wait...

 Mongoose's  weapon was poised, Morgan looked like he was  watching  something from the Observation Dec.

 Lyri looked at Spencer,we should be going , the Scots are already in,  Hunter's  team are near thier entrance!

 Ajax let loose on the Lizard, the  rounds  tore into  the cockpit and the rider, flames burst on the inside , as wires snapped and fluids  ignited.. troops moved  away from the  burning Mech.

Ajax  reward, were four  Largans grenades Lobbed in his direction , from  somewhere  under him...

  Largran grenades wee odd...they were packed  with a Puttylike explosive that contained ball berings, the outside  was made of leather, when the fuse  it the Putty  it  exploded , sending the ball bearing outward, like a starburst

 the grenades  went off around him... the Flashed   Blinded him for a moment, the sounds of Dozens of  Ball bearing  hitting his mech... a few dents here  and there..but..Liberty had a fist sized hole just over  Ajax's  left shoulder..the  bearing had flattened out..but lay by his left footpedal.

 One of Spencer's  MArines  had been torn to  ribbons by the bearings as she tried to  head for the Mission route

  Si's  fighters   Kept their sweep, though they weren't  killing as many enemy as before, since she  sent half of them to  slow down, or destroy tanks.. three of them Burned  as the Tanks  tried to  swerve and  cause the fighters  problems, which was fine, this was delaying them from getting to the battle.

 frans' group  wheeled through the sky they talked  like  mad people  switching off targets, warning someone else.. two More demons  fighters  went  down, one crashed into the battle field, taking some largrans with it.

 Shadow  chased Jonny through the maelstrom , he opened up as  Blu turned towards the Mountain..some hapless LArgran flew in front, and  was blown in half by the Dart's twin .50s  and 37 MM cannon.

  A demon veered off when he saw Shadow's   Tailfin, but he never got to line up the shot, as  Kats's  twin .50s and 37MM cannon torn it to shreds...


  Flores  chased  El'mien..he was  almost begging her to spare his life now, using all his skills to try to dodge...Learning from kray, her lazar and Pusle guns were there to damage and harass..the cannon and the 50s  were there to kill..

Moving up to SGT Hunter, Catrina called out. "SGT I've been assigned to your team where would you like me in the order of movement?"  Throwing her backpack on and settling her medical bag on the hip opposite her sidearm. On her sidearm side she is wearing a brassard with a red cross on it. To signify that she is a medic. She moves into the middle of formation with CPL Bods assuming that's where the SGT will want her.

Ajax backpedaled Liberty away, looking for sneaky Largran at his feet or to the sides and to get back within sight of the shuttles.

If he caught a largran in reach of Liberty's feet it would get stomped.

He readied the Big Shot in case a cluster of largran came close enough.

 Seeing Ajax unload on the downed Mech, Slick watched in horror as items were headed in Ajax's position and then the flash and splatter of an explosive. Slick stood the Medic up and moved forward to cover Ajax if his Mech went down, Looking in the general direction facing away from Liberty's front, Slick sent Pulse shots into the brush where he thought the explosive (he figured a Grenade) came from,(first making sure of his line of fire clear of any friendlies). Stepping next to Ajax as he fired, he sent a comm, "Ajax!!  Coming up on your right !! Holy crap man, you ok!!?? "!! Turning slightly away from him to watch the right, he waited to hear an answer......

Roy had already started folding up the bipod without waiting for his shot to hit...shoot-and-scoot tactics were a critical survival skill as a sniper, because the more shots you took from a position, the easier it became for the enemy to zero in on your location.

He slung the bag back behind him and grabbed his assault rifle as Lyri spoke.  "Get 'em moving, Master Chief...I'm right behind you.  Three-man fire teams, nobody goes out of line of sight of at least one other team.  Hoof it, people!"

He scowled slightly, looking back in the direction from which the Largrans were advancing.  He would have liked time to get a shot at that third mech...
