Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

[Private to DAI: These appear to be a type of undead that are simply called what they are: Skeletons. They are usually created with a purpose, a simple program, if you will. They are weak to holy energy and usually firy attacks.]

DAI blasts some rocks into the pile of bones, blowing many of them around and making lots of ruckus. VIL steadies himself and prepares to avoid any threats that manifest themselves.

A large amount of bones float up off the ground and form into the shapes of wolves. There are dim lights in their eye sockets. They gaze forward and do not move.

A fraction of a moment later the rest of the bone piles assemble themselves, except these are in the shape of human skeletons. Old heavy shields and swords float up and find themselves in their hands.

Zeig, while not entirely understanding what lies in front of him, lets loose a wave of positive energy (having seen what came before and these are obviously made of bone).

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

ZEIG's wave of energy proceeds down the hallway and disolves parts of all of the skeletons. One of the wolves explodes into dust.

JACK runs up to one of the wolves and attempts to give it the ol' foot to the face treatment. It simply ducks out of the way.
23:30, Today: teslas, on behalf of JACK, rolled 23 using 1d20+5. Reflex save to steady lamp, DC 12.
The lamp in JACK's hand is balanced exceptionally well throughout his movement. Not one drop of the oil spills out.

Didn't bother to tell me which side of JACK you wanted to be on, so:
08:01, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 2 using 1d2. 1: north 2: south.

The bones on the ground begin to swirl around first the skeletons and then the skeleton wolves. They float up and replace damaged pieces (Move action).

Skeleton #1 takes a step to the "right" and continues to draw bones up from the piles around it (Standard action).

Skeleton #2 shifts "down and right" and stabs at VIL with its longsword but misses.

Skeletal wolves #a and #b bite at JACK, but he dodges their attacks.

Skeletal wolf #d takes a step to the "right" and continues to pull bones up from its surroundings (Standard action).

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

It's cool guys, I'll just play the game by myself.

JACK moves up and kicks at the wolf, but stubs his toe on one of the discarded heavy shields lying on the ground and doesn't complete the attack.

DAI circles around the field of battle and tries again what seemed to work the last round, firing a burst of wind at skeleton #1 but misses and the gust hits the circular stone on the wall behind it.
12:56, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 7 using 1d20+4. Aero Ranged Touch Attack.

[Private to JACK: You notice that the burst of air appears to have blown a lot of sediment out from around the stone. There is a large groove around it in the wall, at least on your side.]

VIL has instructed me on what he wishes to be done.
VIL stabs at skeleton #2, attempting to keep all of the enemies' attentions from the mages. His rapier strikes the target, but appears to harmlessly poke through its body.
14:24, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 3 using 1d6+2.
14:24, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 23 using 1d20+3.

The skeletons gather up more bone from the surrounding areas (Move actions). Skeleton #2 strikes back at VIL, but misses. Skeleton #1 moves to attack JACK, provoking attacks of opportunity from JACK and VIL. It swings its sword at JACK but misses.

VIL's AoO lands, but again does no real damage.

The wolves, too, gather up many bones still scattered on the floor and incorporate them into themselves (Move action). By this point, there are very few bones actually left on the ground.

Wolves 'a' and 'b' attack JACK. One of them manages to sink its jagged teeth into his leg.
14:31, Today: teslas rolled 3 using 1d6+2.
14:30, Today: teslas rolled 18 using 1d20+4.
14:30, Today: teslas rolled 9 using 1d20+4.

[Private to JACK: I put it all into your SIO pool.]

Wolf 'd' circles around behind DAI, ready to take the chance to tear him apart.

[Private to ZEIG: Your most effective choice is obvious in this case, so I didn't wait an hour.]
ZEIG takes a step towards the battle and blasts off a Harm once again after seeing the skeleton's renewed hostility.
14:35, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 8 using 1d8+2.
All of the wolves immediately burst into dust. More parts of the skeletons dissolve, melt, or are blown away into a dusty powder.

Both skeletons attack VIL. He anticipates both attacks, dodging one and deflecting the other with his buckler.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

If this weren't a play-by-post, we'd settle this the old fashioned way. But it is so we wont ;p

The encounter is basically over. Harm raped the shit out of their healing ability they could only use a certain amount of times. The skeletons, with their shields actually have decent AC so this could play out for a bit.

Going to roll a 1d6-2. This is the amount of times VIL gets hit before JACK manages to beat them all to death.

15:14, Today: teslas rolled 2 using 1d6-2.
15:14, Today: teslas rolled 8 using 1d8+2.
15:14, Today: teslas rolled 7 using 1d8+2.

After his DR, VIL has taken 13 damage. You guys have plenty of potions.

You all gain 525 Experience Points for completing the encounter.
[Private to DAI: You gain 19 bonus EXP for response times.]
[Private to VIL: You gain 16 bonus EXP for response times.]
[Private to JACK; ZEIG: You gain 24 bonus EXP for response times.]

JACK and VIL quickly mil through the heaps of bones to be sure there is no more threat. One of the longswords on the ground appears to be in somewhat decent condition, as does one of the heavy shields. They are both weapons of the royal guards, and look to be rather recently deposited here. These are both masterwork quality.

The mural continues down the hallway, depicting more of the third age. It comes to the large, round stone laid into the wall. JACK points out that DAI's blast of wind has cleared some of the debris from around the stone. There is evidently a groove around the entire thing.

The circular stone is odd. The etchings on it are all around the perimeter in a circle. The ones at the bottom are right side up, but the ones at the top are upside-down. Images of the four remaining crystals and different types of beasts are seen all along its edges and they appear to follow one another in succession. There is no definite start or end to it. It even looks as if the images are slightly off-center, like the whole thing has been tilted to one way or the other.

Looking a little further down the hallway reveals that the mural going around the western side of the temple is probably the same. The last parts are all identical to what you've seen on the eastern side.
