Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

Having finished taking in the mural, Zeig becomes decidedly more aware of the parties current situation.

"I...I don't know for what purpose Sara could have been brought here.  This is all so...unnatural."

Let's check the doors then. Jack does exactly as he says, examining the doors across from the stone circle.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

GM ADDENDUM:

"There is evidently a groove around the entire thing."

should read:

"There is evidently a thin but deep trench around the entire thing, cut between the large stone and the temple wall. Looking into it with light reveals it is clogged with debris so its depth cannot be gauged by sight."

The word "groove" didn't adequately describe what it was. My apolololgies.

JACK looks at the doors across from the large stone circle after DAI does. They look just like the other interior doors on the southern side of the temple.

Hmmm. Looks like one of those non kickable doors. Jack glances at the stone circle. Do you think this is movable?

Zeig tests the door to see if it will open easily.

If not, then:

Afterwards, makes his way over to the stone circle and examines both it and the trench closely.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

ZEIG pushes on the door to see if it is easily moved. It doesn't appear that it is. It may be barred or it may simply be difficult to move in its own right.

JACK pushes on the stone circle, and nothing seems to happen. attempts to twist it, and it seems like it might be able to be twisted with more force or if the trench around were clearer.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

JACK gives this thing a wrenching like he's never given anything a wrenching before. I'm going to assume one of you silly pants helps him, bringing it up to a 25.

It turns in its place and seems like it slides out away from the wall about a half of a foot, like it's not attached to anything keeping it in the wall.

Zeig looks around, his eyebrows creasing.

"I'm starting to wonder if Sara is really here at all.  Well, I suppose we could try exploring the other side of the temple.  If the mural is any clue, however, it will be similar to this side.  We need to find a way through these doors."

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

Sorry, at work.

You pull the large stone circle out from the wall about a foot. It is still inlaid into the wall, and you cannot see behind it. It does seem that you could keep pulling it out, and the four of you could manage to do it with no small effort expended.

Imagine the stone circle to be circular, bulging out from the center. Now that it's been pulled, it seems to be a cylinder that can roll freely in the wall. The length of it is unknown.

And this set of doors have only been checked gently by ZEIG, mind you.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

It takes a few minutes of effort. It is loud, dirty business. The stone cylinder slides about four feet out from the wall and then comes crashing down onto the floor, rolling to one side a little.

If it wasn't obvious that there was a group of people running around the temple before, it definitely is now.

Behind the stone lay a small cove, with a few items contained therein.

At work still, don't have time to look up the items. I will post again later tonight. Sorry guys! All hell is breaking loose here.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

Inside lies a small metal chest at the foot of a stone statue coated in spider webs. The statue is of a horned humanoid of some kind.

The chest is closed, but one of you gingerly opens it.

Inside are some crushed bottles and stained scrolls. One has a White ribbon and the another a Black ribbon. There is a third scroll that looks especially dank. It has been flattened and isn't tied at all.

After picking up the scrolls, you realize there used to be quite a few of them in this chest in a large stack, possibly upwards of 30. It seems the three on top were the only ones to not be coated in whatever used to be in the bottles, thereby saving them, barely.

[Private to ZEIG: Roll 1d10, reroll 10's. Post your result in the OOC thread.][Private to DAI: Roll 1d10, reroll 10's. Post your result in the OOC thread. I will roll for you if you've not responded (probably can't) by the time the other two have.][Private to VIL: Roll 1d2. Post your result in the OOC thread.]

Inside is also a large diamond. Unfortunately, it looks like one of the points of it has been chipped off.

VIL opens the musty, flattened scroll. It is a scroll of Regen. [Private to VIL: Level after next, Red Mage! pfffft for slow spell progression, neener neener.]
ZEIG opens the scrolls with the white ribbon, and sees that it is a scroll of Bar-element.
DAI opens the one with the black ribbon and recognizes it as a scroll of Frost.
