There doesn't appear to be anything else in the small cove cut into the stone wall.

All right then. Jack moves to the entrance and goes to the door directly across. He tries to open it.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

You give the door a shove, but it does little more than wobble. You give the door a good, hard shouldering and it swings open a few inches, making a horrible creaking noise as it does so. You could continue pushing it to open it more in the same way, but it would not be a graceful process.

For the sake of being absolutely clear, you can pick which side of the double doors you pushed open.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

The western door's hinges resonate extremely loudly as it swings open a little more to about a 2 foot wide gap, plenty for someone to walk through.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

You peek your head in, and whatever is beyond is extremely dark. The light from your lamp you are holding behind you sheds enough light to see that the wall to your left continues into the blackness.

Roll a Spot check if you wish to keep your head in there and concentrate on trying to spot something for a few seconds.

Give someone else a chance to post before taking any further major actions.

DAI pockets the scroll, giving a simple nod to JACK's questioning if they were magic. He follows JACK through the double doors, but staying a good ten feet behind him.

11:33, Today: DAI rolled 21 using 1d20+1. spot (hehe...).

OOC: Bouncing Barnacles Batman! What's that!?

DAI sticks his head underneath JACK's, scooby-doo style, and looks off into the darkness.

[Private to JACK: You see blackness.]
[Private to DAI: You think you can see a couple of large humanoid shapes standing in the blackness beyond.]

DAI taps JACK's shoulder, then whispers to the others.

"I think I see someone over there...not sure why I'm whispering, since they would have heard the doors...could be statues again though..."

"Yes, it is magic.  What an odd place to store scrolls."

Zeig wanders over with his lamp and peeks through the door.

15:37, Today: ZEIG rolled 22 using 1d20+4. Spot check.

Three people now have looked through the door into the darkness.

[Private to ZEIG: You think you can see a couple of large humanoid shapes standing in the blackness beyond, just as DAI described. Please post if you actually want to hold the lamp on the other side of the door and look around.]

Zeig mpks the party.

"Hey there is something over there.  I guess if they're statues no biggie and if not they'd have heard the doors.  Let's get a better look, shall we?"

Zeig lifts his lamp to shine light into the room for a better look.

ZEIG puts the lamp into the room, and sees that the hulking shapes are actually quite far away, and must be rather large. He sees no movement. It looks like this is one large interior room of the entire temple.

Sorry, I passed out after I saw the edit from 36 bolts in my chest to what it is now.  I'm awake now...maybe.

Zeig walks in with the lamp held high, further examining the contents of the room.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

You all wander into the room about 10 feet, looking around, the three light sources seeming to do their job fairly well. The large humanoids are almost assuredly statues, and there are a great deal of them in this room.

You can hear the shrieking of bats up above you.

VIL's Illuminate has at least 3 minutes left at this point.

Everyone roll Spot checks. I'd roll them for you but I am at work.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

I've told you guys time and time again this was a hard campaign, and you all run into this one injured :| At least you won initiative!

You walk into the room and look around for a moment. Three of you notice a glint of what looks to be armor behind two of the statues and prepare yourselves.

There is a flash of light and all of a sudden all of the statues can be seen plainly. They are armored figures all looking towards the orb, their arms stretched upwards holding what looks to be some kind of bowl. The top of each is glowing with a different color. Red, Blue, Light Purple, Green, Light Blue, Brown, White, and Dark Purple. The room is clearly illuminated now.

Garland and Sara's head can be seen above a giant, inky black orb. It looks as if he's holding on to her, but the orb obscures anything else.

The door begins to close behind you. It will take double movement cost to move diagonally between the two doors (the two "," dots) due to the smaller space there now.

Surprise Round: (Standard action only)
14: Garland
14: JACK
14: ZEIG
12: DAI
12: VIL - DOES NOT ACT THIS ROUND
 7: Palace Guards
 2: Soldiers
 0: Door slams shut

People:
G = Garland - Sara (S) is currently in Garland's square
R = Roland
P = other palace guard
1 = Soldier #1
2 = Soldier #2
3 = Soldier #3
I'll assume you guys know your letters by now.

Objects:
# = double doors
- = wall
| = wall
X = statues - These are considered to have "soft" corners
O = orb     - This too is considered to have "soft" corners

The room stretches out a little more in each direction, but not by much. The other set of double doors with a massive wooden door-bar can be seen directly across from you.
