Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
VIL hits the hay first. DAI and ZEIG concentrate on identifying the items. Sara falls asleep as they do so. JACK keeps an eye over the party until the two mages are finished and then quickly passes out. The bound soldier falls asleep soon after DAI and ZEIG have completed their spells as well. The two bound palace guards go through the first watch without waking up.
The Necklace:
Medallion of Protection, 2,500gp
When worn and activated, it will absorb all of the damage from the first mortal blow the wearer receives. The amulet then breaks and is ruined.
Activate by gripping the medallion when worn and saying "this body".
The Ring:
Luck Ring, 2,000gp
When worn, it confers a small Luck bonus to one of the wearer's saving throws. Roll 1d4 to determine which save gains the bonus. 1 = Fort, 2 = Reflex, 3 = Will, 4 = roll twice and combine, reroll 4's.
If the ring is ever removed from the wearer's finger they immediately lose its benefit and that particular ring will never work for that particular person again.
DAI and ZEIG are awake for another hour, then DAI heads to bed. ZEIG will proceed to wake up JACK and then sleep. JACK wakes up Sara and VIL for the last watch.
Throughout the night, the howling never dies down, but it never gets closer. As the Windsday sun creeps through the treetops and stretches across the faces of the two palace guards, Roland begins to stir in his bindings. It seems as if he's coming to. VIL and Sara wake up the rest of the sleeping party.
Everyone eat one of your days' rations. Sara feeds one of her portions to the bound Soldier. Roland and the other palace guard remain yet unfed.
