OOC: Didn't we go east last time?

You guys proceed East (right) down the hallway until you reach the carvings on the wall.

"That's very strange.  Perhaps the magic sealing these doors has vanished."

Zeig looks around with a slight bit of disappointment at the mural's similar depictions on this side of tte temple.

OOC: Sorry, was confused for a sec, nvm.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

DAI, the cap is magical. There's little need to try to detect what type of aura from what school magical items will be. They're almost always from the Enhancing school.

The party continues on. JACK simply tries opening the door to the next room in the corner while Sara and the other mages look around the hallway. The door falls off of its rusty hinges and slams into the ground.

Like the other room, there is an open metal chest. Inside of it lies nothing--not even scraps of cloth.

The party gets to the point where the large stone was pulled from the wall. Sara looks at it intently, saying "the temple must have been built hundreds and maybe even thousands of years ago. Why does the mural stop at around our point in time with this circle?"

Sara stops to think. "And you said this stone rotated freely? Lukan would have loved to have come here. Let's double check the other side of the temple for my sake."

Everyone gains 50 EXP from Sara's further understanding of the mural.

Sara doesn't have a clue how the doors are sealed. As you're leaving she explains that she thinks the orb in the center might be a device used to simply destroy things. It unmakes them. She isn't sure how Garland knew how to use such a thing.

The group makes their way back to the front door after almost an hour after entering for the second time. Roland is asleep but wakes up to moan and curse some more. The front doors are opened and the bright light of the sun nearly blinds all of you for a half a minute.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

DAI shields his eyes from the bright light, before lowering his hand to take in the scenery, from this direction...if all was going to be as it was last time, this could get slightly annoying...DAI would inform the others of the possible magical tendencies on the cap, he'd offer to identify it on the way back but, it would require him to ride one of the soon-to-be summoned chocobos for the first hour.

OOC: Unless combat starts I could make the concentration check by taking a 10...easily.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

DAI: I'd make you roll a DC 10 Concentration check six hundred times if you attempted to identify something while riding on a moving chocobo. The DC for that is derived from casting spell on a moving mount. (10 + spell level).

Looks like you won't be able to do that until at least next level.

Sara is busy pouring water down the throats of Roland and the other guard, which are still tied together on top of their respective chunks of wood.

It looks as if you could simply tie ropes around the two palace guard's feet and drag them from those.  Sara has done a decent job of tying the guards to some of the box sides through holes and in between the boards. Luckily the supply box appeared to have been made for royal purposes, and quality lumber was used.

It is around 10 in the morning on Windsday. If the party left now they would spend the night in probably the same spot on the far side of the swamp late, late in the evening.

Sara looks southwards. "Well. Let's get moving, hmm? I wouldn't be surprised if we run into a second party sent by my father to check this temple."

[Private to DAI: It will take two chocobos to drag the two guards on their makeshift slicks. They will last for six hours each. You will either need to summon them twice (four total) or risk getting caught in the middle of the swamp come nightfall.]

DAI makes a few short gestures, summoning up two Yellow Chocobo in front of the soldiers on their sleds.

"These should last...most of the day..."

OOC: Can't I take 10 on concentration as long as I'm not beign stressed? Riding a chocobo isn't really a stressful situation...hell, I took cross-class ranks for teh eventual use of this spell >.>

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

The party makes fairly decent time through the swamp on the path that JACK manages to find rather quickly. Roland is grimacing at every little bump, but doesn't appear to have his wounds agitated too much. The other guard lets out wheezes and moans from time to time, but remains unconscious.

The soldier is still bound up and follows the group. He either recognizes that running off on his own is a death sentence or is simply too concerned about his future to do anything but mindlessly follow Sara's instructions.

In the mid-afternoon, the chocobos poof out. To make it to the planned first night's camp two more will have to be created. Dragging the two guards by hand would take several times longer than using chocobos.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

The party makes it to the camp on the mound next to the path about 20 minutes after nightfall. Sara's lantern is burning to help shed light.

ZEIG immediately notices that the shredded human carcass that was buried has been dug up and no evidence of remains can be seen. Sara is then informed of the events of two days prior and makes mention of old tales about werewolves from the north.

Howling can be heard in the distance, and indeed has rarely ever stopped.

Zeig looks down at the shallow, now empty grave and heaves a heavy sigh.

"It is a cruel fate...but it was trying to kill us.  I would not hesitate to defend myself again, though I hope that it does not come to that."

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

The night passes without incident. The Iceday morning is quiet and unusually devoid of howling.

Everyone eat another day's worth of rations. Sara again feeds the soldier.

Roland is now quite aware and is incessantly spiteful in tone and speech. Halfway through with her breakfast, Sara stands up and drives one of her heels into his forehead. Roland goes back to being unconscious. The other guard is stirring as well now, and lets out a moan or a short sentence rooted in delirium every once in a while.

Sara uses Create Water and pours more water down each of their throats.
[Private to GM:
Roland:  1/30 (3) : K/O
OtherP:  0/30     : disabled
Soldi3: 15/15 : tied up
]

"Let's get a move on!", Sara says sort of cheerfully.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

The guards are again pulled by the chocobos. The ropes are looking sort of worn and frayed, but should hold for at least another day. [Private to JACK: That staff of ropes is fucking awesome.]

ZEIG notices something blowing in the trees above once the group is out of the swamp. He points it out, and everyone sees a silky substance that coats several tree limbs several, several feet above the road in the canopy. Knowledge (Nature).
