Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
The monsters and NPCs DO always seem to go at the same time D:

[Private to JACK: Your description of movement exceeds 35'. You could, however, simply walk through the chocobo's squares and arrive in that position. If you were wanting to walk past the goblin for some reason, please let me know and we can edit the posts.] JACK heads up to the front of the pack and goes on Total Defense.

The bound up soldier sees JACK run away and immediately begins running (Run action) the opposite direction down the road as quickly as he can. He makes it 120' or 24 squares south of his previous position.

Sara stays where she is and attempts to calm the chocobos again.
21:10, Today: teslas rolled 9 using 1d20+4. 10 for "C".
21:10, Today: teslas rolled 24 using 1d20+4. DC 10 for "c".

She then exclaims out to DAI, "I couldn't calm one down. They will try run off with the prisoners if they aren't sent away!" She makes it clear that she could not calm down chocobo "C".

Goblin #3 runs away (double Move) and Goblin #1 follows (Withdraw action). [Private to DAI: You get an attack of opportunity against goblin #3 if you wish to take it, but you get all sorts of heinous penalties.]

The spider in the distance (%) charges up (Charge action) and bites the goblin on the ground. If it wasn't dead before, it almost surely is now.

Spider (#) moves down and bites at VIL, but instead bites his longsword, burning the inside of its mouth rather badly.
21:18, Today: teslas rolled 11 using 1d20+4.
21:18, Today: teslas rolled 5 using 1d20+4.
21:18, Today: teslas rolled 6 using 1d6.

Spider (@) runs up to JACK and ZEIG, looking at them with its eight, massive eyes and lets out a squeal.

The dying spider ($) makes a desperate attempt to bite VIL's unarmored and off-balance body, nearly wounding him horribly.
21:22, Today: teslas rolled 8 using 1d6+3.
21:22, Today: teslas rolled 10 using 1d20+4. confirm.
21:21, Today: teslas rolled 24 using 1d20+4.

VIL feels the bite site burning feverishly. [Private to ZEIG: You know that venom was almost assuredly involved in the bite.]
21:23, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 11 using 1d20+4. Fort save vs poison.

One of the chocobos remains tense with terror. The other one flails wildly at the ropes binding it to the sled, but the ropes hold.
21:26, Today: teslas rolled 14 using 1d20+6.
This motion seems to make the other chocobo much less comfortable than it already is.

[Private to VIL: The site of your bite burns horribly, and then stops. You take an additional 4 damage.]

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
White fluid comes pouring out of the spider's body as VIL strikes it down.

A shadow moves across the battlefield to the south. Everyone, except DAI, but he still has a pretty good idea, looks up and sees the body of an even larger spider crawling on top of the canopy of trees above. It is currently located roughly above where the two goblins are.
Firing at this spider has a 20% miss chance through the branches and trees. DAI, you will have to stand up or suffer a 50% chance due to the further blockage from your bush.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
Zeig draws in on himself upon seeing the spider's fang make contact with Vil.  He shakes his head and focuses on drawing out the ailment from the wound as he weaves wispy tendrils of light into the bite.  He then moves left and left/down for a total of 10'.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
DAI, now seeing how effective his spell was against the first spider, decided to attempt to weaken another one for JACK to finish off...with luck. He flicks his wrist forward as another rain of pebbles fly from his hiding spot, aimed at the spider's oversized head.

20:19, Today: DAI rolled 12 using 2d12+5. stone(point blank).
20:18, Today: DAI rolled 12 using 1d20+4. stone(touch)(point blank).
If hit, create rough terrain between it and JACK, but on the left so JACk can still charge.

OOC: It is large sized so...this could be a hit, sad damage though >.>

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
JACK attempts a new, speedier approach to punching, but doesn't quite get the hang of it. [Private to JACK: THE -2 REARS ITS UGLY HEAD (and you wouldn't have hit without it anyway).]

The running soldier, still quite tied up, moves further away from the party down the forest road. He is lost from sight over a small crest.

Sara attempts to calm the chocobo that isn't flailing about, and does so. She then turns to VIL and casts Cure on him. Move action then Standard action. Afterwards she takes a quick step to the "right" to get a little further from the panicked chocobo.
23:08, Today: teslas rolled 8 using 1d8+2. Cure.
23:07, Today: teslas rolled 19 using 1d20+4. CD 10 handle animal.

Goblin #1 stops dead in his tracks and looks up, then screams.

Goblin #3 does not look back and runs down the road in the same fashion as the bound soldier.

Spider (#) shifts down 5' and bites at VIL, barely connecting with his unarmored body.
23:51, Today: teslas rolled 4 using 1d8+3.
23:50, Today: teslas rolled 13 using 1d20+4.

VIL yet again feels the site of the bite inflame with pain.
23:53, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 5 using 1d20+4. For save vs. poison.

Spider (%) pushes through the bushes to its side and then looks at VIL.

Spider (@) bites at JACK, hitting squarely. He, too, feels the burn of the poison enter his bloodstream.
23:56, Today: teslas rolled 6 using 1d8+3.
23:56, Today: teslas rolled 19 using 1d20+4.
23:58, Today: teslas, on behalf of JACK, rolled 8 using 1d20+7. Fort save vs. poison (from memory +7).
[Private to JACK: Doing full SIO on this one. PM me for something different.]

The frantic chocobo again tries to break free of its bindings, but fails to do so apart from falling on its side and standing back up a little farther to the "left". It is squarking loudly.
00:00, Today: teslas rolled 15 using 1d20+6.
The other chocobo's head is darting back and forth noticing all of the carnage around it, but manages to keep its composure.

[Private to VIL: You feel the burn of the poison in your body as you begin your action.]

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
VIL's attack slashes across the spider's legs, maiming it further. It looks extremely injured.

The large shadow fits what drops through the trees as branches crack. A huge spider (Q) lands on top of the goblin, picks it up in its massive jaws, and bites it in two before dropping it. It then turns its gaze towards the group of creatures making up the convoy.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
JACK attempts the same maneuver as last time, and again can't quite throw his jabs accurately enough to strike the spider hard enough to do meaningful harm.

Sara gives up trying to calm the chocobos completely. She throws a Cure at JACK and moves to the east 30'.
00:46, Today: teslas rolled 8 using 1d8+2.

Spider (%) moves up onto the magical rocky terrain and bites at VIL, hitting him extremely hard. The now-familiar burning sensation of spider venom courses through his veins.

00:48, Today: teslas rolled 17 using 1d20+3.

00:49, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 10 using 1d20+4. fort save vs. poison.

Spider (@) bites at JACK another time, but misses.

Both chocobos freak out and begin flailing at their ropes. Roland and the other guard are being drug behind them. They move forward 10' behind JACK and one of the "small" spiders. Their bindings hold but appear to be fraying more and more.
00:54, Today: teslas rolled 20 using 1d20+6.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
The huge spider leaps through the air and lands on top of the bushes DAI is in. It then attempts to pick DAI up in its massive jaws to give him the same treatment the goblin received. It easily does so with DAI being prone.
The spider seems to know exactly where DAI is, even though it can't see him.
11:23, Today: teslas rolled 11 using 1d20+9. touch attack to initiate grapple.
11:25, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 7 using 1d20+2. DAI's grapple resist, roll a 20!.
11:25, Today: teslas rolled 30 using 1d20+22. formality, grapple check for spider.

The spider attempts to tear through DAI's middle section, but doesn't quite make a clean cut. DAI can feel the spider's venom gushing into his massive wound, burning horribly.
11:27, Today: teslas rolled 14 using 2d6+6.
11:28, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 9 using 1d20+4. fort save vs. poison.

It looks as if the spider all but crushed the bushes, and is simply straddling the magical difficult terrain of DAI's.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
JACK does a back-flip away from the spider he was fighting, bounds through the legs of the Huge spider, and lays into the bottom of its huge head with a flurry of blows, landing two attacks squarely, one of which in the wound DAI's rocks had left. It looks very injured at this point.

Sara takes a step to the northwest, looking horrified, and casts Cure on DAI.
13:55, Today: teslas rolled 3 using 1d8+2.

Spider (@) moves its way around the magical stones on the ground and positions itself behind JACK to defend the larger spider, but misses, almost biting one of the large spider's legs.
13:58, Today: teslas rolled 11 using 1d20+3.
13:58, Today: teslas rolled 4 using 1d20+3. no flanking until DAI is dead.

Spider (%) takes a step forward and continues its assault on VIL, biting him yet again.

13:59, Today: teslas rolled 14 using 1d20+3.
14:01, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 10 using 1d20+4. rerolling on behalf of VIL for clarity.

And again, the surge of spider venom enters in through the wound.

The chocobos run off southward down the road. The chocobo on the right clears the difficult terrain with no problem, but the guards they are dragging are not so lucky. The makeshift sled cracks into it and falls apart, leaving the two men still mostly bound and on the road. The two unconscious riders were unable to brace for the impact, suffering more injuries.
14:05, Today: teslas rolled 2 using 1d4. roland/guard damage.

The spider behind JACK takes a bit at one of the chocobos as it moves past, but misses.
