Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
The huge spider closes its pincers on DAI.
14:35, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 5 using 1d20+2. DAI's grapple for formality.
14:34, Today: teslas rolled 37 using 1d20+22. grapple to deal damage.
14:36, Today: teslas rolled 15 using 2d6+6.
14:37, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 19 using 1d20+4. fort save vs. poison.

He begins to fall unconscious as the beginnings of disembowelment occur, but somewhat miraculously, no further poisoning takes effect.

ZEIG lets Benediction fly as he sees this, and a wave of holy energy blankets everyone, curing their poison and healing their wounds. DAI pops back to being alert, now only moderately injured by the huge spider.
14:39, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 20 using 3d10.
[Private to ZEIG: I need to know if you want Benediction to hit Roland and the other guard on your turn, please.][Private to VIL: God that saved your ass so much. You had like 30 poison doses ;p]

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
DAI told me to "roll to escape". It is currently impossible to do that unless someone rolls a 20 or a 1. Therefore, I am only going to roll d20s.

DAI fails to escape the clutches of the giant spider.
15:25, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 11 using 1d20. Did DAI roll a 20?.
15:25, Today: teslas rolled 17 using 1d20. did the spider roll a 1?.

JACK's turn. Same battlemap.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
JACK lands three of his attacks against the massive spider. It now looks extremely worse for wear.

Sara sees it in its extremely injured condition and notices DAI's guts aren't on the ground yet, and throws Light at it, dealing minor harm.
15:32, Today: teslas rolled 5 using 1d4+3.

The two remaining "small" spiders continue their attacks against JACK and VIL, but they both fail to attach their jaws to the party member's bodies.

The palace guards, who were already severely wounded, begin their trick of creating a pool of blood on cold stone.

I was instructed to continue VIL's attack on the spider in front of him.
VIL swings his flaming longsword at his closest enemy, brutally severing its head in a skillfully executed attack.
15:36, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 3 using 1d6. fire.
15:36, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 17 using 2d8+4. physical.
15:36, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 25 using 1d20+5. crit confirm.
15:36, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 24 using 1d20+5.

There is now a large pile of dead spiders in front of him.

The Huge spider drops DAI onto the ground and what remains of the bushes, saving him from fall damage and begins to retreat. It takes a 5' step to the northwest and bites at JACK, barely missing him.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
The second little bolt of holy energy kills the massive spider and it comes crashing down to the ground.

Taking turn for DAI based on his described actions (not really).
DAI moves backwards away from JACK and the spider and readies an action to cast Stone on it if JACK doesn't kill it. He vocalizes his intent to JACK and everyone else with the hope the spiders don't speak common.

Only one attack of JACK's strikes manages to land, and the spider does not fall.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
ZEIG attempts to stabilize roland and the other guard, but fails to do so. They bleed out a little more before he simply casts Cure on the both of them.
02:22, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 5 using 1d8+4. = Roland
02:21, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 7 using 1d8+4. = Other guard

Both of them stop bleeding and wake up, albeit still severely injured. The ropes that bind them are rather damaged, and are not as strong as they once were. The bindings have also loosened a decent bit. They appear confused more than anything else.

The soldier that ran off as the fight began now has a half of a minute head start in a dead run down the road. It is most unlikely he will survive on his own.

The two chocobos are far, far away at this point, well outside of DAI's range to dismiss them. They will simply disappear a little later in the day. On them was the palace guard's equipment.

Gigantic spider corpses litter the landscape.

The time is around 2:00pm.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
You begin down the road, looking for a point at which he might have entered the forest.

You did not roll well enough, or rather, are not skilled enough, to track him on the road and you're somewhat knowledgeable to this fact, but you think you might be able to see if/when he left the road. There is no way you could run and still maintain enough attention on each side of the road, so your speed is simply 35' per six seconds (half speed).

I need to know how long you're willing to attempt to follow his tracks before returning to the party.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle
It is now 4:00pm. The party is waiting on the road near all of the dead spiders. Sara has given the two guards more water. She didn't have to knock Roland unconscious this time.

JACK has spent two hours backtracking, checking his surroundings carefully, and a piece of rope fiber finally catches his eye hanging from the side of a bush near the road.

JACK then leans down to look at the soil, and notices partial footprints from boots going westward off into the forest.
