Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

Everyone hits the road hard in order to clear the forest before nightfall. The mood is quiet and resolved.

Pay no attention to the Spot checks.
07:36, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 10 using 1d20+1. Spot. Nothing to see here.
07:37, Today: teslas, on behalf of JACK, rolled 9 using 1d20. Spot. Nothing to see here.
07:37, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 4 using 1d20. Spot. Nothing to see here.
07:38, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 12 using 1d20+4. Spot. Nothing to see here.

As you're walking, you see a small shape walk into the middle of the street about 30' in front of you. It is wearing a long cloak and keeps its head lowered.

A croaking and rather unimposing voice begins to speak. "Stop your walking. Drop your goldies and go away. If you drop enough goldies we won't make you stop when you walk back tomorrow."

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

A myriad of thick trees surrounds the road. There are many, many shrubs and bushes that stretch off into the distance. The path is quite wide, but the road itself is only about 10 feet wide.

An odd bird call echoes from the forest. Knowledge (Nature) Roll applicable.

Everyone but JACK hears rumaging in the bushes.

09:33, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 10 using 1d20+6. Gonlins' Move Silently to stand up.
09:32, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 23 using 1d20+4. ZEIG's Listen, surprise round.
09:32, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 22 using 1d20+4. VIL's Listen, surprise round.
09:32, Today: teslas, on behalf of JACK, rolled 7 using 1d20. JACK's Listen, surprise round.
09:31, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 17 using 1d20+1. DAI's Listen, surprise round.

Those of you who can act know which square the goblins are in but they have total concealment from you until they stand up. The bushes grant anyone prone in their square total concealment. They require double move cost to move into them. Trees ranging from 5' feet thick adults to 30' thick ancient trees are all around you. All tree corners are considered "soft" corners.

16: Cloaked Goblin - DOES NOT ACT THIS ROUND

VIL, you actually can't draw a weapon while you move because your BAB is not +1 yet. I'm going to let it fly and assume you pulled it out like everyone else did before the fight. Keep this in mind in the future~

DAI holds himself ready, waiting to strike.

OOC: Readying action to cast stone on a goblin that leaves cover, go  ahead and roll for me if I'm not here, and I will also create rough terrain in the square directly ahead of it.

[Private to teslas: ranged attack roll would be +2, damage would be 2d12+1]

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

All four goblins spring up out of the bushes, javelins in hand.

DAI, ready for them to present themselves, shoots a bunch of rocks over ZEIG's shoulder.

12:48, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 9 using 1d20+2. Ranged Touch Attack.

Sadly, the rocks also go right over one of the goblin's shoulders.

Round 1:
20: ZEIG
16: JACK
16: Cloaked Goblin
14: VIL
 3: Goblins in Bushes
 3: DAI

Battle Map has not changed. Look above.

ZEIG: If you're going to keep delaying, you better do something on your turn D:

[OOC] I mean I can move in alone and stab one, which sounds like a horrible idea. That's about the extent of my options. [/OOC]

14:10, Today: ZEIG rolled 2 using 1d20-1. Dagger attack on goblin.

Zeig moves 30 feet to the left (south?) and flails his arms wildly attempting to attack the goblin (gob4)

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

ZEIG runs up to one of the goblins and closes his eyes as he attempts to stab it. The goblin stands there, confused, as ZEIG doesn't swing his knife far enough forward and misses by more than two feet.

Round 1:
20: ZEIG
16: JACK
16: Cloaked Goblin
14: VIL
 3: Goblins in Bushes
 3: DAI

[Private to ZEIG: You could have moved, dropped prone, and went on total defense. Thus, this would put you past some of their range increments for their javelin. This would net you +8 AC or +10 AC vs. the goblin's javelins. That's not very much though. No wait, it is ;p]

Jack snaps his leg at the goblin

14:27, Today: JACK rolled 5 using 1d20+3 with rolls of 2. Flying Kick.

[OOC]If I go and help Zeig, Dai will be left vulnerable. He's going to charge to the left 5 squares to attack goblin 4, if there isn't anything obstructing the charge attack. If he can charge, add 2 to the above attack.[/OOC]

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

I'd say that ZEIG blocks your charge path to the Gob4. Strictly RAW, both ZEIG's square and the square above him are acceptable squares to end your charge.

At any rate, you miss either way, and ZEIG was blocking the path, meaning your AC is not reduced by two.

The cloaked goblin in front of VIL has been stabbed and is not happy about it. He steps backwards 5' and exposes a small crossbow from underneath his cloak. VIL, you also see a small morningstar hanging at his side.

He lines up his shot, and fires at the person who just stabbed him, but VIL manages to anticipate the shot and duck out of the way. The goblin then reloads his crossbow and barks out an order that you cannot understand.
[Private to DAI: You hear him scream, "GET THE ONE IN THE BLACK ROBES," in goblin.]

13:36, Today: teslas rolled 11 using 1d20+3. Crossbow vs. VIL.

Round 1:
20: ZEIG
16: JACK
16: Cloaked Goblin
14: VIL

13:51, Today: VIL rolled 6 using 1d20+2. Critical confirm check. (Not confirmed)

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

VIL stabs the goblin in the same spot as before. It is extremely injured at this point.

The goblin next to ZEIG and JACK (Gob4) runs away (withdraw action). It circles back behind the bush and around the small tree behind ZEIG and JACK. The goblin above them (Gob5) runs across the road and dives into the bushes straight across from him, prone, and back out of sight.

The goblins next to DAI both throw their javelins at him, dropping prone after they do, also out of sight.

13:59, Today: teslas rolled 21 using 1d20+3. Killing DAI 1.
13:59, Today: teslas rolled 6 using 1d20+3. Killing DAI 2.

One of them hits DAI squarely in the belly. As he's doubling over in pain the other one harmlessly sails by, exactly where his head used to be.

14:01, Today: teslas rolled 1 using 1d4. Javelin Damage.

Although extremely uncomfortable, DAI's robes absorb all of the impact.

Round 1:
20: ZEIG
16: JACK
16: Cloaked Goblin
14: VIL
 3: Goblins in Bushes
 3: DAI

DAI lets out a muffled grunt at the impact of the first Javelin, not even noticing the second. He stands up, glaring daggers at the Goblins, while wielding his own, he moves to charge Goblin 3.

12:09, Today: DAI rolled 5 using 1d20+3. Dagger Charge(revenge!).

His blade stabs harmlessly to the side of the Goblin....DAI now feeling rather stupid for coming to them.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

Goblins prone in the bushes (all of them that are in the bushes) have total concealment, meaning a 50% miss chance. You missed anyway, so this doesn't matter. You knew he was there, so you could attack his square. Read the posts!

Battle map hasn't changed much. DAI is now to the "right" three squares.

Round 2:
20: ZEIG
16: JACK
16: Cloaked Goblin
14: VIL
