Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

DAI's attack barely misses the goblin Touch AC 12 (small size!).

ZEIG, you cannot do anything offensive with your actions due to your location. Skipping your turn in initiative. Feel free to act at any time if you choose to do so. Combat is effectively over.

Round 5:
20: ZEIG
16: JACK
16: Cloaked Goblin
14: VIL
 3: DAI

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

The goblin deftly evades the trip attempt and scampers out into the forest. He's running so he doesn't have his DEX to AC and therefore can't AoO you for attempting to Trip. Finding him would be extremely difficult.

COMBAT CONCLUDED.
Everyone gains 75 EXP from the castle romp.
Everyone gains 188 EXP from successfully completing this encounter.
[Private to JACK: You gain 10 bonus EXP from response times.]
[Private to VIL: You gain 12 bonus EXP from response times.]
[Private to DAI: You gain 6 bonus EXP from response times.]
[Private to ZEIG: You gain 10 bonus EXP from response times.]

Each of the three dead goblins has one potion of Cure on its body.
You find a total of 31 gold pieces.

They have 11 small javelins.
They are wearing mostly-ruined and extremely nasty small leather armor. You don't think selling any of this will be possible in town.
They have three small morningstars. Again. Probably not worth the hassle of selling.

All of you check over yourselves, heart still racing. For the first time you've fought what everyone refers to as "monsters". Two of the five goblins escaped into the forest. Tracking down the hooded goblin might be possible, but it could take hours, and you would have to decide immediately.

MORE TO FOLLOW. DUCKING OUT FOR FOOD. FEEL FREE TO TALK TO DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO CHASE.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

Zeig leans against the tree and hacks up a mouthful of blood.  "I'll be all right...just give me a minute."

16:49, Today: ZEIG rolled 9 using 1d8+2.
[OOC] What color do you want heals to be?  It's neither a skill check nor a combat roll, unless used offensively against undead. [/OOC]

Zeig reels a bit from the massive beating he took earlier, but regains his balance.  Zeig begins to chant in a strange tongue and performs a series of complex symbols and gestures with his hands.  The air surrounding him grows still as he emits a faint light that envelops his wounds.  His skin grows warm to the touch and the blood flecks away, revealing the smooth undamaged skin beneath.

[OOC] Zeig casts cure on himself for 9 hit points, bringing him up to...9...hit points. [/OOC]

DAI slowly walks to the others, seeming a little defeated.

"Fine...but I didn't even hit with my spells..."

DAI was inspecting his also un-bloodied dagger...feeling completely useless.

OOC: Well...at least I was there, so yay for sharing XP

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

The party decides to not chase the goblin down. Chances are he wouldn't bother them again anyway. JACK suggests that they press on, as spending the night on the plains is a much better idea than spending it in the forest.

DAI opens the box that Sara had given him. Inside is a small silver amulet on a thin chain and two small vials of blue liquid. The vials are labeled "Minor Ether" in handwriting none of you recognize. The amulet has no markings.

It is now roughly 2:45pm. The party is much more than halfway through the forest around Cornelia.

[Private to ZEIG: Wow... that was very descriptive. I don't think casting magic is normally quite that intricate, yours must be special, haha.]
Did you guys talk about Ablood enough? Christ. Feel free to discuss who carries the ethers and the amulet in the OOC thread.

As you walk, the familiar sound of goblins in combat can be heard through the trees. Listen checks everyone.
[Private to JACK: It's been almost an hour. Your 1 point of non-lethal damage heals itself.]

Minor Ether
Consumable
Restores 3 mp when ingested.
Worth ???gp

This is their first real battle, so I guess blood seems really important to them? I mean, I just beat something (2 somethings, actually) to death with my fists...

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

ZEIG is the only person to be able to pick out the exact direction of the noises immediately. He points the way and VIL runs off into the trees.

You didn't give me a chance to describe the repercussions of the Listen check. Good luck guys.

[Private to ZEIG: The sound was of more goblins than you just fought, there was also the sound of a man.]
[Private to VIL: The sound was that of MANY goblins tearing at something as best as they could.]

VIL bursts in to a small clearing, the rest directly behind him. He sees a medium sized cart, a tarp over the contents in the back. It is tied to two chocobos.

On the other side of the cart are at least three goblin bodies. A man's head with a red hat and large white feather are visible over the top of the cart, which lies directly in your line of sight to most of the action. It sounds as if there are still plenty of goblins alive, and they are angry.

Initiative rolls if you intend to stay. Map soon to follow.
