Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

Gob6 thinks for a second and then begins to run away into the forest (Withdraw action).

BILL looks annoyed at its departure and steps between JACK and VIL, stabbing the goblin leader in his shoulder.

The goblin leader manages to get out of the way of VIL's rapier. It seems as if he hates fire rapiers only second to how much he hates ice ones.

DAI's turn.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

DAI hurts the goblin leader a little more.

It yelps in pain, and is severely injured. You dirty human. We help you do what you ask with other humans and did not hurt anyone. Now you stab us and have other humans attack us. It is yelling at BILL as it says this.

The goblin leader makes a desperate attack against BILL, who is barely hurt.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

JACK beats the goblin. With his first strike, it beings to fall over. His second strike lands before it hits the ground, assuredly killing it.

BILL takes a step back and eyes the party carefully as he places his rapier back into its sheath. "Thank you for your assistance. You should make for one of the edges of the forest before nightfall."

He begins walking back towards his chocobos.

Combat is over unless any of you would like to continue initiative for some reason. It is ZEIG's turn next, and then the goblin left alive will easily make it into the heavy brush of the forest. The late-day sun is casting long shadows, making it even harder to try to chase it.

DAI apporaches BILl, keeping a good 15 feet away.

"Can you explain...what the Goblin just said moments ago? About his doing...what you wanted, and the confusion of your fighting him?"

DAI was still holding his dagger, and ready for what the man was going to say.

[Private to teslas: Readied Action: Stone him in the face(if the dice roller will allow it) if he happens to make any hostile-like actions toward me and my friends.]

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

BILL calmly states over his shoulder, "I don't know what it could have been talking about. Vile creatures, goblins."

[Private to DAI: Unless you'd like to preserve the initiative order, readied actions can only be taken in combat. If you begin casting it's an initiative roll to determine who gets to act first.]

"Do I know... the goblins?" He looks confused and annoyed. "Yes, Bob and Margaret there attended my wife and I's 20th wedding anniversary party at a fine little restaurant in the market district just last week..." BILL looks as if he is preparing to mount the lead chocobo.

Let at least one of the other guys have a chance to say or do something before we proceed too much further in time.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

While DAI's face was not visible, his unamusement with BILL's sarcasm was apparent.

"Well...if you had nothing to do with them go on...BUT if you act in a way harful to my friends, or if we find out you were somehow connected to the goblins...you'd best home I never see you again."

OOC: would this constitue an intimidate check? I'm not really trying to scare him but it's a semi-obvious half-threat nonetheless

"I'm just glad that everyone is ok.  We ourselves were jumped by goblin highway robbers just moments ago it seems like.  We quickly put a stop to them, but these here were exceedingly ferocious.  Glad we made it in time to assist."

Zeig senses that something is not quite right, but due to cumulative injury and exhaustion he forgoes making any trouble with Bill.

01:02, Today: ZEIG rolled 12 using 1d20+4. Spot check.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

DAI: He gets your point. If you wanted to actually scare him then yes, it would require Intimidate. If he beat your roll by more than 15 or more he might even be LESS scared of you than he might otherwise already be.

Everyone roll a spot check. JACK, you may also roll a Survival check.

Zeig joins Vil in the search, hoping to finish the process quickly.

"Whoever he was, and whatever he meant to do, he's right.  We should make for camp as quickly as possible, we've lost a lot of time here and it's obviously not safe to make camp in the forest."

Zeig's wounds are obvious as he strains and flinches while searching the bodies.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

BILL gives the party one last solid eying before turning his cart sharply, running over some bushes, and heading back towards the road.

You can take 20's for Search checks if you're not being rushed or threatened. I'm going to go ahead and assume you do that for each goblin. It takes a couple minutes each, but you want to make sure you find anything possible.

On the eight normal goblin bodies, you find six potions of Cure and a total of 88 gold pieces. They, again, are all wearing nasty small leather armor with crude morningstars of subpar quality.

The goblin leader is about 10 inches taller than the rest. He appears to be wearing nasty, small studded leather armor. His weapon, however (small morningstar), looks to be of fairly decent quality. His light crossbow, too, looks to be of somewhat decent quality, although small. You find 28 gold pieces on him, as well as a map. The map looks as if it was drawn by humans, and then heavily used by goblins.

DAI attempts to make his best guess at what it says. It appears to have originally been a map of the forest outside of cornelia with guard patrols labeled on it. Over the top many profane notes almost obscure the map's original purpose. One in particular seems interesting: "Meet armored humans on north plains at daybreak 3 days from now." It doesn't specify what day exactly is supposed to have been three days prior.

The sun is setting and the sound of BILL's cart fades down the cobblestone road as you search the goblin bodies and read the map.
