Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

DAI stares daggers back at Palace Guard, before firing a blast of stone at his from this short range, his blast is ineffective, and he lets out a silent curse as he moves 15 feet North, and 5 feet Northeast, hoping the statue and VIL can offer him some protection from the Guard's blade.

11:44, Today: DAI rolled 6 using 1d20+4. stone(touch)(point blank)

OOC: If I'm counting right...5/16 spells have actually hit.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

VIL's longsword clanks off of the palace guard's armor, but the heat from Enfire still scorches his flesh.

The palace guard grits his teeth. He appears angry that VIL has gotten in the way between him and the Black Mage, and swings at him with his longsword, landing a solid hit.
15:24, Today: teslas rolled 10 using 1d8+5.
15:24, Today: teslas rolled 17 using 1d20+7.

He then takes a 5' step to the northwest to get closer to DAI.

Soldier #3 moves behind JACK, and swings at him, but misses.
15:26, Today: teslas rolled 13 using 1d20+5.

Garland now yells out to VIL that his mother was a fool to leave with his failure of a father, and that they deserve what happened to them.
15:28, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 13 using 1d20+1. DC 14 Will save vs. Provoke.
VIL is furious at this remark and instantly forgets about the palace guard.

Garland then turns back down to ZEIG and thrusts his greatsword at him with both hands. ZEIG is run through and heads back to the precipice of death.
15:29, Today: teslas rolled 19 using 1d10+10.
15:29, Today: teslas rolled 18 using 1d20+11. against a prone ZEIG.

Sara stirs and stands up. She looks completely dazed.

DAI is starting to visibly panic...he moves to strike Garland, and get closer to his wounded friend. Move 10 feet West, Firing a blast of Aero at Garland, hoping to slice through his armor with wind.

16:17, Today: DAI rolled 15 using 2d10+4. AeroDamage) (Point Blank).
DC 15 Reflex or pushed Soutwest 5 ft, provoking attack from JACK.

OOC: Well...guess messing up that first roll saved me from a 9 :/
I really hope Palace Guard provokes an attack that VIL will hit with when he tries attacing/charging me.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

The wind blats Garland squarely, obviously severely injuring him, but he manages to keep his footing.
18:43, Today: teslas rolled 17 using 1d20+6. Reflex save.

VIL, berserked, charges at Garland, provoking an attack of opportunity from the other palace guard, and the palace guard gladly takes the opportunity to cut VIL's legs out from underneath him.
18:47, Today: teslas rolled 20 using 1d20+7.
18:48, Today: teslas rolled 7 using 1d8+5.

This puts VIL at exactly zero hit points. Since he is berserked, and the charge is within one move action's worth of movement, I'll allow it to continue and potentially land. After the charge, VIL takes one damage from the exertion and falls over unconscious.

VIL reaches Garland, barely hanging on to life. It seems that Garland's focusing on dodging DAI's spells distracted him just enough for his attack to hit.
18:52, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 3 using 1d6. fire damage.
18:52, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 7 using 1d8+4. physical damage.
18:50, Today: teslas, on behalf of VIL, rolled 16 using 1d20+8.

VIL then collapses from the strain, unconscious. Garland grimaces heavily before smiling at VIL's fate.

Soldier #3 continues his work to kill JACK, and does a fine job.
19:07, Today: teslas rolled 8 using 1d8+3.
19:06, Today: teslas rolled 22 using 1d20+5.

The other palace guard charges DAI with an evil grin on his face, and cuts him severely.
18:55, Today: teslas rolled 7 using 1d8+5.
18:54, Today: teslas rolled 17 using 1d20+9.

Garland appears extremely wounded and shifts down towards the orb, seemingly looking absent minded. He gives JACK a half-hearted attack, which is still enough to accurately land in JACK's already-gaping wound.
18:59, Today: teslas rolled 13 using 1d10+10.
18:59, Today: teslas rolled 24 using 1d20+6.

JACK's legs give out and his vision goes black. He cracks his head on the ground and is out cold, bleeding profusely.

"What you are doing here matters not," Garland says reaching for the orb, a trickle of blood running out of his mouth. "The world is beyond saving. It will have always been this way."

Sara seems to come to a little more, and takes in the situation. It seems as if she's running away from the orb more than anything else. She stops and casts Cure on ZEIG.
19:02, Today: teslas rolled 10 using 1d8+2.

ZEIG is finally able to use Benediction, almost instinctively.
19:03, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 17 using 3d10.
JACK and VIL open their eyes to see most of their comrades lying on the ground with them. Sara seems much more invigorated at this as well. [Private to JACK: It's somewhat odd, but you also feel like some deep, carnal urge inside of you has also been removed.]

Roland continues to make a pool of blood on the stone floor.
19:05, Today: teslas rolled 73 using 1d100.

Garland does not seem to notice that the three people he thought slain are opening their eyes. He stares blankly into the orb, his hand reaching towards it.

Round 8:
14: Garland  : +2 AC (Fighting Defensively)
14: Sara
14: Roland   : K/O, Prone
14: JACK     : Prone
14: ZEIG     : Prone

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

VIL's attack lands true. Garland's knees almost give out. His grip on his sword goes nearly limp. He continues to stand there, gazing into the orb.

The other palace guard 5' steps northwest, resolute on the edge of death to take DAI with him. He swings his sword but misses, barely.
22:00, Today: teslas rolled 11 using 1d20+7.

Soldier #3 strikes at JACK while he is on the ground, but barely misses.
22:11, Today: teslas rolled 11 using 1d20+3. last ones were wrong multipliers.

Garland's hand reaches the orb. His last words as he touches it are somewhat unexpected. "Let's see if my turn is any different." His body, his armor, and his weapon are engulfed in blackness. A split second later only a pile of black dust remains on the ground.

VIL feels a sickening feeling rip through him, and takes 14 points of damage. His buckler disintegrates. It looks as if his longsword on the other side of his body was shielded from whatever effect was causing this. His armor is basically ruined, and offers no further form of protection. The rapier with Illuminate cast on it is also destroyed. The cloak he is wearing frays a bit on the edge facing the orb but is otherwise unharmed.

The different color lights in the room immediately extinguish themselves. The only source of light is ZEIG's lamp, still burning on the floor in the north part of the room.

Sara holds out her finger and tiny bolt of light shoots out and smacks the palace guard in the back. He drops to the floor.
22:10, Today: teslas rolled 7 using 1d4+3.
She then walks towards the last soldier and says, "You cannot run from this sitaution, traitor. Attempt to face your death with some sense of what pride you may have once possessed."

Nobody notices Roland's growing puddle of blood beneath him.
22:13, Today: teslas rolled 43 using 1d100.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

DAI, seeing the full situation pan out, moves to pick up his potions, dropping the crossbow he had been holding, and goes to use one on the near-dead(if not dead) Roland...if he was to die it would be after a trial. After this had all conspired, he would turn to Sara, more confused and filled with questions then when he had entered the room.

20:23, Today: DAI rolled 7 using 1d8+1. potion(on Roland).

OOC: Posting this now...go ahead and let it happen in the initative that would allow it...wasn't expecting JACK to continue his assault >.>

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

I'm not continuing the fight.

Zeig, upon seeing Vil take heavy wounds and his equipment falling apart, casts Cure.  Afterwards he just sort of stares out, dumbfounded.

23:25, Today: ZEIG rolled 11 using 1d8+4. Cure -> Vil.

Vil catches his breath and wipes the blood from his eyes. He moves over to Guard #3 and pulls out the rope from his backpack and begins tying him up.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

Soldier #3 drops his sword and holds his hands up. VIL pulls him closer to ZEIG's lamp and begins tying him up. I'll roll your Use Rope check secretly if it comes up.

JACK's lamp on the floor has been bent and is currently ruined.

DAI proceeds to reach Roland. The Cure potion stops the bleeding but he is still unconscious.

Sara oversees Soldier #3 being tied up and responds to JACK, "I'm fine". She then turns back to VIL, "how are you feeling after being close to the orb when that traitorous, that traitorous fiend, touched it?"

The other palace guard continues to bleed out on the floor.

Re: Chapter 2: The Ancient Cycle

Not facing Sara, his eyes upon where Garland's body used to be, and still in shock, he responds woodenly with, "Sick and defiled."
