DAI looks to his side and sees some of these  things getting in behind him. "Ah hell no..." DAI uses Fast on himself as a swift action, he then fires off another blast of stone, hoping to deter some of the ghouls before dashing through the trees far as he could.

#d advances, trying to cut JACK off.

A nasty crunching and tearing noise is made as its teeth pierce his neck and grate against his spine, but JACK's neck holds true. JACK remains motionless, however.

ZEIG sees this, but is unable to move closer to JACK without putting himself in a situation that would lead to assured death, being out in the field completely alone at this point. He begrudgingly withdraws from his attacker, then turns and looks on JACK in horror.

Eighteen or so creatures enter the party's field of view from the east and west.  They are fast approaching JACK and the treeline. And will enter this round. Behind them are hundreds more.

I have, or will shortly, run out of things to enumerate the enemies. At this point everything further will simply be addressed as "1" or "2" or "3" depending on what type of creature it is.

DAI, panicking a little from how exactly fucktastic this had turned out to be, tries his best at killing the nearest Ghoul to ZEIG so he can do another one of those balls of undead-slaying fury. He then turns and runs, not wanting to leave JACK behind but...honestly not knowing what else to do. "This is SO fucked up..."

The problem with delaying your turn in PbP is that it's hard to tell the DM when you want to enter in between the monster's turns. Taking your instructions literally, we won't have to worry about that. Feel free to break in at any time, however.


DAI, you weren't clear with your movement, so I'm just going to put you 30' further south.

The magical difficult terrain out in the tall grasses near the lake dissipates.

DAI knocks #z over with magical stones which then pile up on the ground. #z, once it hits the ground, begins to melt slowly. It lets out a horrible stench.

#?, #", and #! run up close to the tree line.

#7 and #8 run up to just inside the tree line and then stop. They yell in some incomprehensible language.

Another large swarm of creatures approaches from both sides.

#d places its mouth near JACK's belly, and slowly attempts to disembowel him where he stands.

ZEIG, suspending his feelings of remorse and disbelief, takes a 5' step to the southeast. Not wanting to leave LEO to the same fate as JACK, he casts Harm.
20:42, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 13 using 1d8+5. harm damage MP: 37/53.
He then pulls out his staff. Which we haven't seen in like, forever.

#i, #4, #a, and some of the ones that are now innumerable explode into dust. Unfortunately, the trees in the forest block the effect from striking many of the creatures it otherwise would have.

Any parts of the map toward the lake that are no longer shown are assumed to be completely covered, as in, at least one per 5' square, by enemy creatures.

#e, #f, #g, and #h half drag, half dismember JACK's corpse toward the lake.

#s runs into the trees up next to LEO. Its skin begins to dissolve slightly.

#t runs closer to the treeline, from where it was near JACK's place of short-lived rest.

#u runs into the trees next to ZEIG. It, too, begins to melt.

#v, maybe not so blood-thirsty (but doubtful), only moves up a small bit.

#@ runs south-east 30' and casts a spell.
LEO's head droops down as he falls into a gentle slumber.

## and #$ run south, ending their movement behind a tree relative to ZEIG.

#k moves further south.

#1, #2, and #3 turn and run back toward the lake, out of sight into the swarm of undead approaching.

The large group labeled "1" advances closer to the treeline, and more pile into the field.

#5 and #6 move toward the tree line then stop rather abruptly.

#9 runs ahead of the approaching horde to the tree line's edge.

#0 follows some of the others, moving back toward the lake out of sight.

LEO sleeps peacefully.

DAI fires an arrow at LEO, trying to wake him up. He unfortnately, pulled the string back rather far. DAI curses himself for ever wanting anything to do with this lake...and is likely going toget an earful from ZEIG later about it. DAI continues his fleeing the scene.

DAI, I am going to make you move about 30' to the west to line up this shot.

The mixture of moonlight-level illumination and aiming around trees distract DAI. He plants an arrow squarely in LEO's back despite trying to aim for the meat of his thigh. LEO drops to the ground, being unaware of the entire process going from sleeping to unconsciousness.

#? moves out into the open relative to ZEIG, and casts a spell.

#" stays where it is, and casts a spell. Purple tendrils make their way from LEO's body to its own.

#! advances and casts a spell.

#7 and #8 remain where they are. They scream in a language none of you understand, though what they're saying sounds similar to one another.

More creatures pile into the party's view.

More injured creatures from ZEIG's spell retreat into the approaching mass from the lake.

ZEIG withdraws and begins trying to catch up with GRIM.

A couple of the creatures chase for a very, very short distance, then either dissolve into a lump or retreat back into the field.

The party stops running about 30 seconds later and attempts to see the situation, but can't through the trees. You all slowly make your way back to the lake. Most of the creatures are back in the water, which has begun to uniformly glow once again. There are two paths in the grass that end at the lake which have been bent over flat, but otherwise no sign of JACK or LEO's body.

You gain 50 Experience Points for the ordeal.

DAI catches his breath, before looking to GRIM, then looking to ZEIG. He takes his hat off...realizing that his damn curiosity killed an old friend, this time maybe for good, and an innocent who had trusted them so freely. "I...I need to sit down..." DAI meanders over to a stump, or rock or something, and begins taking this all in.
