DAI nods, taking those to his room to be identified later. When he comes back he gets to work on slitting sahuagin throats to find the extra gems the Elf notified them on.

"So...how did you get to Cornelia? We...don't usually get visitors."

"It may not be common knowledge, but our nations do maintain a means of communication, though it is now only but a fraction as effective as it once was. Your king summoned a dignitary from Elfheim for a reason interesting enough to comply, so I was sent. Most of the distance I flew, and more than I would have preferred I swam."

Zeig wanders nearby and perks up at the mention of the elven dignitary.

"The wind is lost...Melmond...what of Fire, Arnir?  It would seem we have more in common than meets the eye, and that perhaps we have much to discuss."

"Yes, the king said that the four of you," he glances at VIL's body covered in a sheet, "were being sponsored of sorts." His expression is basically emotionless apart from a hint of disappointment.

Re: Chapter 3-B: Across the Aldi and Into The Forgotten Deeps #1

LOGG and DAI get to work cutitng open sahuagin necks. All in all they find plenty putrid chunks of things that even 10 ranks in Knowledge (nature) couldn't identify, and another varied assortment of gems.

Between what the Prince was carrying and what was found on the royal guards, and then the few the smaller sahuagin had, there is a nice small sack full. They vary greatly in quality, cut, and size.

First person to roll this gets to determine it.

4x Emeralds: 1d100+2d20 each
7x Rubies  : 1d100+1d10 each
4x Topaz   : 1d100 each
11x varius colors of saphires : 3d20 each
28x various gemstones that have not even been cleared from the aggregate that is attached to them, let alone cut in any way: 1d20-1 each.

Since none of you craft anything and material components don't really exist for the spells you cast, feel free to roll each class of gem in one lump, IE: For rubies roll 7d100+7d10 for the value. Then just add all the values together for what the "Sack 'o Gems" is worth as a whole.

If you guys don't want to roll this, and trust my dice roller to benefit you, then I'll roll them >:D

Arnir looks back at ZEIG, "Well, we're fairly close now. She's a fast ship for her size. I'll remain on deck and visible if you don't mind."

I'll wait until everyone logs on again before continuing.

After Zeig finishes with tending to the wounded and getting things back on track he searches out Arnir.

"Arnir, as the royal dignitary sent from Elfheim, I'd like to ask your opinion on the state of affairs regarding the great issue we are faced with.  If you wouldn't mind joining us in the captain's quarters."

Assuming he's compliant:

Zeig would round up the gang (the PCs, Dunn, and Gery likely) before heading in for some conversation.

Re: Chapter 3-B: Across the Aldi and Into The Forgotten Deeps #1

After everyone is situated Zeig breaks the ice.

"Arnir, it seems you know the reasons behind our travels.  I'd like to hear what you have to say on the matter.  First off, you already know me as Zeig."

Zeig runs his fingers idly over the orb of water hanging from his neck and motions towards the others so that they may introduce themselves.

Afterwards:

"The night you delegates had audience with the king is the very night that the princess was kidnapped and taken by force from the castle.  We set out the next morning to pursue her and eventually found our way to the Temple of Fiends."

At this time Zeig whips out his depiction of the mural and several pages of notes concerning the mythology surrounding it.  He describes the mural, referencing his notes whenever possible, and describes the room Garland was holding the princess in.  The eight elemental orbs rather than four, backed by this mural, and the circumstances surrounding Garland's disappearance are described in detail.

Re: Chapter 3-B: Across the Aldi and Into The Forgotten Deeps #1

In patient elf fashion, Arnir says nothing as ZEIG talks. He seems rather unaffected by the entire situation until ZEIG shows him his drawings of the murals. He flips the few pages over intently. "The Temple of Fiends still stands, then. Interesting. Most Lufeinian structures that old and that close to a settlement--especially goblin and human ones--are rarely in such good shape."

He hands ZEIG's sketchbook back to him. Sense Motive.

"As to what I know about your travels..." Arnir takes a short pause, "Your king is a superstitious man that holds to traditions he doesn't comprehend from dozens upon dozens of your generations ago. He sent you on an errand that reflects this. Currently, you're on your way to Elfheim to talk to our king."

He looks at everyone in the room for a moment. "My thoughts on the matter?" He looks down at the floor and then back up, "You'll probably fail." He pauses, looking everyone over again, "But, it doesn't do any harm helping you along, and you're hardly capable of causing much trouble for our nation." His expression loosens, "But then, it always starts out to be the young, brave, and ignorant ones in your stories of human heroes of greatness, doesn't it."

"It is true, we are ignorant.  There is much that we have been left in the dark about, even from our own king.  We get cryptic musings from any source we come across.  While this hinders us, I believe this is a journey for the truth as much as it is to prevent catastrophe."

Zeig stands and walks over to one of the windows.  Or just moves around a bit if there aren't any.

"We may fail, but not for a lack of effort.  We certainly do not mean to cause trouble for your nation, if anything the opposite.  I think the scope of things could grow to affect the entire southern continents, if not more.  If we are to have any hope of stopping this or even gleaning any useful information, we must know what it is that we are facing.  What can you tell us, Arnir?"

Arnir responds, "The world is a large place. Admittedly, and speaking loosely, I've only seen a third of the surface of it. I'll offer what little advice I can."

His tone becomes very dry, "Your king would have you travel to Melmond. You apparently need to find a way for this vessel to fly, build your own ship once you make it to the beach opposite of the Aldi's, or restore the pass. I'd guess the second option to be the most feasible."

He continues, "Once you're in Melmond? I know little of what desolation is affecting them, but I am not alone in my suspicions, especially in Elfheim, that they could very well have brought it upon themselves."

"And of your greater goal, to save this world? That's something about which only you will be able to advise a person--after you've done it. If the crystals were to begin to fade, we are all in need of [elven words]. Are you four humans, now only three, them?"

He looks each of you over another time, spending a slightly longer moment on LOGG, "You must forgive my hesitation in believing as such."

DAI spends his tiem leaning against the wall next to the door, as ZEIG and Arnir exchange words...the elf's continued voicing of disbelief in their status was beginning to annoy him. DAI cleared his throat before speaking in a tongue that sounded to be similar to the one Arnir had just used when speaking to them.

[Elven Words. ]

DAI then returns to his leaning posture, seeming disinterested with the discussion, but still listening.

DAI speaks several sentences. Sense Motive #1 DC 20 to get a very, very rough sense of what DAI might have been trying to convey. Another Sense Motive #2 on Arnir.

Arnir listens before replying in Common, "I'll see to it that you're granted entry to Elfheim and an audience with our king. If the world needs saving, it would be foolish for us to expend effort in slowing you down." It is clear he is making an effort to be patient.

"We are also here on an affair of the crown.  Our reason for traveling to Elfheim beyond seeking information is to reclaim the royal Cornelian key as emissaries to the Cornelian throne."

Zeig pauses for a moment, distracted.

"You know of the Temple of Fiends, and you are not surprised by this mural.  In Cornelia religion is lost and few show reverence for the forces that bind and support our world.  What do you know of the Temple of Fiends, of the Lufenians and their tinkering, and of this mythos?"  Zeig points to the surprisingly awesome depiction of the mural in his notes.
