Re: 10:30am Lightningsday, 7th week 852

DAI takes an audible gulp...this Giant looked much more weathered(read: class levels) then any of the others. "To...offer directions to wandering passersby perhaps? Certainly nothing like working with the ground elves...right?" DAI hated this ambiance, and he could tell right off the bat this storm would make fighting a hassle, though he was confident in his abilities to cast a spell if the need arose.

A massive hand waves down SILI's comments as he is speaking, "Quiet."

"No, not to offer a direction, but to find it. I have been paid to find your direction, to follow it, and kill you, and bring you back to the search giver.

I need only one of you for payment.
" He motions his empty hand to ZEIG and then DAI. "I do not know or care about these others, and you are welcome to your fair chance."

Re: 10:30am Lightningsday, 7th week 852

I will roll a d% on each person's turn to determine how well lit the battlefield is by lightning. For GRIM, of course, it doesn't much matter apart from seeing more than 60' away.

The heavy rain inflicts a -2 penalty on ranged attacks of any normal kind. This does not include ranged touch attack spells, though the copious amounts of water in the air and pooling on the ground will affect the Water line of spells.

The Concentration DC to cast in this is only 5 + Spell Level. This means that DAI definitely doesn't have to roll, and that SILI most probably doesn't. Fucking ZEIG, that asshole, will.

The path is made of packed dirt and is stable and easily walked upon. Any water that would form on it runs off and down to the river. The grass and mud on either side, however, is the same as before. DC 5 Balance to Charge/Run through it.

RAIF will spend most of the combat keeping the chocobos calm so that they don't run off and scatter the grain everywhere, which would be ruined in the rain. If it looks like you're getting absolutely trounced he'll join in.

RAIF delays until just before the chocobos might start to run, grabbing both sets of reigns in his hands.

The giant in front of everyone reaches behind himself and readies a massive tower shield. He takes a 5' step forward, staring at GRIM, ready for his approach.

Lightning bolts ripple across the clouds above, allowing SILI to see everyone without issue.

Round 1:
16: Giant
16: SILI
13: DAI
12: MILO  - To the east, if called, can reach the map on his turn on the second round without issue.
10: GRIM
 1: ZEIG
 1: RAIF
 1: Chocobos

. = packed dirt
, = mud and slick grass (DC 5 Balance to charge/run)

"Damn it...why's the only cool giant we meet gotta try and kill us?" DAI mutters as he raises a hand above his head, activating his Elemental Seal and casting Sleepga for added effect, hoping it actually works on the big lug. DAI looks over his shoulder as he moves 20ft East, to try and stay out of close combat with that big club.

Re: 10:30am Lightningsday, 7th week 852

The giant shakes off SILI's song, looking angrier afterward.

DAI's spell has no visible effect whatsoever.

MILO barks and assumes a position next to RAIF, ready and wary of attack, but keeps a worried eye on his master 90' away.

Just after DAI's spell, a massive bolt cracks overhead and splinters a tree barely out of view in the forest. The blinding flash leaves everyone's eyes (except GRIM's, though he can no longer see color) in a state of slow readjustment.

Your turn, GRIM. You must move forward at least 5', because that is what started combat, otherwise act freely. Feel free to keep your charge rolls if you wish.

Round 1:
16: Giant - Dazzled (-1)
16: SILI  - Dazzled (-1)
13: DAI   - Dazzled (-1)

As soon as GRIM comes within 10' of the giant, it swings its club at him.
06:52, Today: teslas rolled 24 using 1d20+17. dazzled giant vs. GRIM.
GRIM, trained at evading the heavy and slow swings of giants, deftly evades both the giant's readied action and attack of opportunity.
06:53, Today: teslas rolled 25 using 1d20+17. giant dazzled AoO vs. GRIM.
See? RPoL doesn't hate you all the time.

Having to wade through two massive attacks, GRIM's aim is off and his axe glances off of the giant's humungous shield.

ZEIG casts Dia on the giant and gets the hell back to let GRIM do his thing. MP: 41/53

Another bolt cracks across the sky, illuminating the battlefield.

The giant rears back twisting his body nearly halfway around before letting loose an incredibly powerful blow at GRIM, but again, misses.
07:01, Today: teslas rolled 19 using 1d20+11. defensive awesome blow vs. GRIM.

The giant lets out a hearty laugh at GRIM's ability to dodge, then looks to DAI, "Hahaha, I see how you behave. Hiding behind your dwarf, little man."
07:03, Today: teslas, on behalf of DAI, rolled 20 using 1d20+6. Will vs. Provoke.
DAI's resolve remains unshaken.

Yes, I know the giant's initiative did not change after its readied action.

The sky dims down greatly. It is difficult to perceive fine detail. Shadowy illumination over the entire battlefield.

Re: 10:30am Lightningsday, 7th week 852

The giant's eyes refocus, on DAI, as it yells out in fury realizing that a spell has just broken its nose.

GRIM uses Provoke on the giant. Its view shifts down to him.

GRIM then attempts to hack at its knees once again, also fighting defensively, but his axe meets the giant's shield.
09:01, Today: teslas, on behalf of GRIM, rolled 17 using 1d20+3. waraxe 2 vs. giant.
09:01, Today: teslas, on behalf of GRIM, rolled 22 using 1d20+8. waraxe 1 vs. giant.

ZEIG is comfortable standing where he is, and holds his action.

The area is again lit by blue light from massive coruscating streams of electricity above.

The giant wastes no time. It hauls back and tries to land two devastating attacks on GRIM. Mighty Strikes.
09:07, Today: teslas rolled 51 using 4d8+34. damage.
09:07, Today: teslas rolled 28 using 1d20+14. berserk might strike vs. GRIM, PA (6).
09:08, Today: teslas rolled 11 using 1d20+9. berserk might strike vs. GRIM PA (6) 2.

The first slam almost drives GRIM into the ground like a nail. Horrible sounds of iron grinding and bending against iron is heard as the second swing bounces off of GRIM's shield at a shallow angle.

ZEIG sees this and intervenes with a Cure II.
09:16, Today: teslas, on behalf of ZEIG, rolled 24 using 2d10+9. divine seal Cure II -> GRIM. Total HP healed: 36. MP: 36/53

The light from the previous flurry of activity in the clouds has yet to fade.

Round 3:
16: Giant (#1) - Dia (-1), Berserk, Mighty Strikes
16: ZEIG
16: SILI       - Soul Voice

Re: 10:30am Lightningsday, 7th week 852

DAI's spell strikes the giant squarely. The flames appear to have singed its already-broken face.

The ambient brightness fades again, plunging the path into shadowy illumination.

MILO begins barking in the distance behind all of you, though he is too far away to see through the darkness and heavy rain.

GRIM very much so prefers that the giant continue hitting him. He attempts to provoke it once again, though it looks as if he's unsuccessful.
That not working, GRIM in turn uses Mighty Strikes, and attempts to hack off one of its legs, nearly doing a decent job.
09:45, Today: teslas, on behalf of GRIM, rolled 10 using 1d20+7. waraxe 2 vs. giant.

09:44, Today: teslas, on behalf of GRIM, rolled 25 using 1d20+12. Waraxe 1 vs. giant.

RAIF yells out through the rain, but all anyone can make out is "GOBLINS!" before another giant bolt of lightning streaks overhead, illuminating at almost a half dozen of the creatures advancing on MILO, two panicked chocobos, and RAIF.

The chocobos attempt to break free of their silk rope bindings while RAIF is flung around a bit, but they cannot.

The giant, out of breath and clearly injured, says, "The gray ones are not a part of this." He raises his club to strike at GRIM, but pauses for a moment.

ZEIG doesn't quite trust himself to decide the next course of action, and delays until after SILI.

The lightning continues, illuminating the path fairly clearly until the heavy rain obscures it from view nearly completely around 100' away.
